The “Sausage Party” TV-series spinoff “Foodtopia” is kind of like Seth Rogen’s warped, food-based version of Francis Ford Coppola’s “Megalopolis.”
Based off the 2016 animated feature, the upcoming Prime Video series “Sausage Party: Foodtopia” follows returning characters Frank, Brenda, Barry, and Sammy as they try to build their own food society. It’s a…bit less sophisticated than Coppola’s.
The infamously raunchy food-centric “Sausage Party” whipped up a bit of a stir with its original theatrical release. Now, almost a decade later, the Prime Video series features returning original cast members Rogen, Kristen Wiig, Michael Cera, David Krumholtz, and Edward Norton, along with newcomers Will Forte, Sam Richardson, Natasha Rothwell, and Yassir Lester.
The eight-episode first season hails from Annapurna Television, Sony Pictures Television, and Amazon MGM Studios. The original film was a co-production between Columbia Pictures and Great Beyond.

Seth Rogen has gotten into TV in a big way: As star and EP of Apple TV+’s “Platonic,” exec producer of Prime Video’s “The Boys” franchise, animated series like “Invincible” and “Sausage Party: Foodtopia,” and his upcoming Hollywood satire “The Studio,” also for Apple. But he’s still bullish on film as well. “I think people still like movies,” he tells Variety‘s Awards Circuit Podcast. “Last year, lots of movies did very well. I think if movies were going go away, they would have a long time ago.”
Rogen is passionate about this point. “Paintings are still around. People still go to museums! There’s things flashier or more ‘interesting’ than then oil on canvas, but people still flock from all over the world, enough to keep museums open. Not a ton of people have to like movies to keep movies going. It’s always been a...

If watching animated food items getting it on tickles your funny bone, we have some good news: Prime Video's Sausage Party sequel series, Foodtopia, has announced a premiere date.
The "hole season" (see what they did there?), which will continue the adventure of the various sentient groceries we met in 2016's R-rated hit, will be available to stream of Prime from July 11.
We're still waiting on a trailer, but an unsurprisingly crude first poster has been released featuring the characters holding up a... yeah, this doesn't really need an explanation, does it?
Check out the artwork at the link below, and let us know what you think in the comments section.

Universal has entered into a first-look film partnership with Point Grey Pictures, the production company of Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg and James Weaver. The deal comes following the companies’ past work together on breakout comedy hits including the Neighbors franchise, Good Boys and Blockers.

Barbie and Oppenheimer continue their domination of the marketplace as they are poised to take in $51 million and $27 million respectively (per Deadline). For Barbie that third week number puts it above the first week of Brad Pitt’s Bullet Train which opened to $30 million on this weekend last year. By end of day Sunday, Barbie should be hovering around the $460 million mark at the domestic box office while worldwide numbers will possibly be over that billion dollar mark. That is quite impressive for any movie, let alone one based on an over 60 year old brand.
Oppenheimer is still dominating its IMAX screens and should see a weekend take at $27 million which would put the tale of the formation of the atomic bomb at around $230 million domestic and around $530 million worldwide. Again, quite impressive for any movie, let alone a 3-hour, R rated biopic. I just really hope this movie has the momentum into awards season.

Just how twisted is the new “Sausage Party” sequel series? Even star Kristen Wiig is shocked by it.
The upcoming “Sausage Party: Foodtopia” series is set to premiere on Prime Video in 2024, with original voice actors Wiig, Seth Rogen, Michael Cera, David Krumholtz, and Edward Norton all returning for more tasty fun. The cast is rounded out by franchise newcomers Will Forte, Sam Richardson, Natasha Rothwell, and Yassir Lester.
Creator Rogen recently revealed to Empire magazine that “Foodtopia” is even crazier than the 2016 adult animated film. “We had Kristen Wiig in picking up a few lines the other day, and I think we’ve all become desentised to it, because we’ll just be like, ‘Roll the scene!’, and then she was like, ‘Oh my God?! This is insane!,'” Rogen recalled.
