The slasher mash-up Freddy vs. Jason just celebrated its 20th anniversary six months ago, and now we have some very sad news to share about one of its cast members: Chris Gauthier, who played the Jason victim Shack in the film, has passed away at the age of 48. Variety reports that Gauthier passed away suddenly and unexpectedly from “an unspecified short illness”.
In addition to Freddy vs. Jason, where his character was felled by a flaming machete thrown by Jason during the cornfield rave sequence, Gauthier’s acting credits included 40 Days and 40 Nights, Insomnia, Agent Cody Banks, Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed, Dead Like Me, Riding the Bullet, Stargate: Atlantis, Masters of Horror (where he had a role in John Carpenter’s Cigarette Burns), The Butterfly Effect 2, Stargate: The Ark of Truth, Supernatural, Space Buddies, Watchmen, Harper’s Island, Sanctuary, Beyond the Black Rainbow, Iron Golem, Smallville, Continuum, Eureka, R.L. Stine’s The Haunting Hour,...

Netflix’s Avatar: The Last Airbender has massive shoes to fill with its live-action adaptation of the beloved animated series, and the same is true for the actors tasked with bringing the show’s characters to life. Granted, the bar is likely close to the floor for live-action adaptations after M. Night Shyamalan’s infamous attempt in 2010, but nonetheless, fans expect a lot from whoever tries to adapt this story.
From familiar faces like Danny Pudi and Daniel Dae Kim to relative newcomers, here’s the cast of Avatar: The Last Airbender and where you’ve seen these actors before.
Gordon Cormier as Aang
Despite being only 12 years old, Aang serves as the Avatar – an international peace-keeper tasked with keeping harmony among the four nations and the only person with the ability to bend all four elements. Aang is a reluctant hero that struggles to balance the heavy burden of...

Starz’s Heels season two episode six opens with a brief rundown of what’s happening in the Fwd and Dwl. The wrap-up ends with Ace (Alexander Ludwig) working on a vision board while his mom (correctly) points out that he’s been acting weird recently.
Ace explains that he’s examined his life, and he’s decided he needs room to just reflect and think.
Jack (Stephen Amell), Staci (Alison Luff), and the newly enlightened Ace meet with Brooks Rizzo (Josh Segarra) to discuss his streaming service. After Jack thanks him for making the trek all the way to Duffy, Brooks confirms Continuum needs to grow its subscriber base in the lead-up to a merger with a larger company. Professional wrestling has a huge audience that Continuum would like to tap into.

It was Deidre Hall's 5000th episode!
Our TV Fanatics, Jack and Christine, are joined by Horizon from MyHourglass, a Days of Our Lives fan forum, to share their favorite Marlena moments, if Maggie was right to fire Alex, and whether Nicole should tell Ej or Eric she's pregnant?

It was Deidre Hall's 5000th episode! Do you have a favorite storyline with Dr. Marlena Evans?
Horizon: Deidre Hall is the first person I remember when I started watching the show back in the 1970s. Yikes. And Roman is pretty much the only other cast member that I recall back when.
But since I haven't watched the show in Continuum, I frankly don't recall much. In recent times she had her moments from time to time in her second go around as the devil.

The Pink Ladies of “Grease,” the most colorful Rydell High students, are back on April 6 on Paramount+. However, this won’t be the same collection of young women from the original film — or even its cult classic sequel. This round, we see how the popular clique got its start. The girls now have a show of their own: “Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies,” a salute to 1950s teens who refuse to conform to conventional standards. The new musical series shows us Rydell High before Sandy and Danny start strutting down the halls. The show stars Marisa Davila, Cheyenne Isabel Wells, Ari Notartomaso, and Tricia Fukuhara.

Paramount+ is also producing an original series “Fatal Attraction,” based on the 1980s hit thriller. The TV version refocuses the lens, exploring a modern approach to women, infidelity, personality disorders, and coercive control. It’s...

Until the great gears at Amazon start turning and give us a new Stargate series, we’ll have to make do with the classics. Fortunately, Stargate Sg-1 gave us 10 seasons, two spin-offs (three if you count Stargate Infinity... which you don’t), and two direct-to-home movies (three if you count Stargate Origins... which you don’t).
Unfortunately, unless you still have your treasured DVD box set and still have a DVD player in 2023, it can be a full-time job trying to work out where to stream Stargate Sg-1.
Luckily it’s my full-time job. You’re welcome.
Stargate Sg-1 on Comet TV (US Only)
Stargate Sg-1 is currently airing on Comet TV in the US. Comet TV’s business model was initially based on the MGM back catalog, but don‘t be surprised if this changes as Amazon tidies up the licensing agreements it inherited.

The Grammy Award for Best Pop Vocal Album has become an important award in recent years. Lately it has been given to albums that thoroughly influenced the musical landscape, sometimes even more than the Album of the Year winner. So what does it take to win the Grammys’ Best Pop Vocal Album prize?
When people think of pop music, they naturally think of commercial appeal, and this is true to a certain extent for the Pop Vocal Album winners. All but one of the 29 albums that have won this category went top-10 on the Billboard 200. Out of these 28, 24 peaked somewhere in the top five, and 21 peaked in the top three. Half of the winners were number-one albums. Plus, the winning artists are typically some of the biggest stars of their winning years. The list of Pop Vocal Album winners includes huge names in pop music history like Adele, The Black Eyed Peas,...

Maren Morris fulfilled her seemingly far-fetched adolescent dream. The country star made a guest appearance during the Nashville stop of John Mayer's tour on April 13, and the two artists treated attendees to duets of "Slow Dancing in a Burning Room," off Mayer's 2006 album "Continuum," and "Last Train Home," a newer track that features Morris. She wrote about the experience: "Hello, Maren can't be reached right now because she went back to 2006 and told her younger self this would happen in year 2022 and her brain exploded."
Sharing a snippet of the performance, Morris reflected on stopping by her agency's suite at one point during the concert and finding all the music agents attentively enjoying the music, as opposed to networking. "I don't know if you realize how utterly unheard of that is and how captivating the music had to have been for that to happen,...

His wife Collette reported his death on his Facebook page, writing “To Friends, family and fans,

When people think of Roland Emmerich, their minds will instantly wander to his mega budget disaster epics that pulled in massive numbers at the box office like Independence Day, The Day After Tomorrow and 2012. And while they’ll always be known as the defining movies of his career, which is hardly surprising when the filmmaker is referred to as the Master of Disaster, he initially got his foot in the Hollywood door by tackling militarized sci-fi actioners.
After Universal Soldier pulled in $80 million on a $23 million budget, the second collaboration between the director and his writing/producing partner Dean Devlin saw the duo move onto Stargate. The effects-driven adventure made close to $200 million at the box office and scored decent enough reviews, but the studio didn’t appear to see much franchise potential in the concept.

This Star Trek: Discovery article contains spoilers for “The Sanctuary.”
After the hugely nostalgic trip to Ni’Var in “Unification III,” you’d think that Discovery might be briefly done with a ton of callbacks to previous eras of Trek. With Episode 8, “Sanctuary,” that guess is partially correct. When Burnham and Book hit-up Book’s home planet of Kwejian, the vast majority of what happens on that planet doesn’t have roots in old Trek canon, because, Kwejian — at least for Burnham — is a strange new world. That said, the rest of the episode still has more than a handful of references to the Final Frontier that came before. Here’s every Easter egg and reference we caught in Star Trek: Discovery Season 3, Episode 8, “Sanctuary.”

2D fighters are my gaming bread and butter, having been weened on to them at an early age thanks to side-scrolling efforts such as Double Dragon and Streets of Rage and discovering the grand-daddy of 2D fighters, Street Fighter 2 at an arcade in Majorca back in the 90s. Since then I’ve played them all, from classics such as Final Fight and the King of Fighters series to more obscure fighters such as Spectral vs. Generation, Waku Waku 7 and Groove on Fight. So the release of any new 2D fighting game always gets me a little over-excited… even moreso when it comes from the current kings (Imho) of fighting games, Arc System Works.
Why Arc System Works? Well they’re the company behind the Guilty Gear and Blazblue franchises And they’ve had a hand in a myriad of other fighting franchises, either as developer or distributor since way...

All aboard: TNT has finally set the premiere date for its TV adaptation of “Snowpiercer,” which stars Jennifer Connelly and Daveed Diggs.
The post-apocalyptic sci-fi drama, which is based on the critically acclaimed graphic novel series and the Bong Joon Ho-directed film of the same name, will premiere Sunday, May 31 at 9/8c on the cable channel.
In case you forgot, this is the long-gestating show that started at TNT, moved to TBS and then moved back to TNT. It’s also the show that Josh Friedman wrote the original pilot for and was set to serve as showrunner on, only to be fired over “creative differences” in February 2018 and replaced by “Orphan Black” co-creator Graeme Manson — a decision he did not take well.

Though the inclusion of the Spectre in the upcoming “Crisis on Infinite Earths” crossover event should’ve been obvious to all, it’s not something I’d really thought much about until this week. After all, one can’t be too sure of which DC Comics characters The CW will gain license to, but now we know we’ll be given yet another nod to the rich source material.
Earlier this week, Arrow star Stephen Amell dropped a cryptic Tweet causing some to speculate that he would indeed wind up playing the Spectre himself. As it turns out, we didn’t need to wait very long at all for the matter to be cleared up, for another actor has landed the gig.
To be more specific, Stephen Lobo has been cast as Jim Corrigan, one of several identities of the Spectre in comic book lore. Executive producer Marc Guggenheim didn...

Van Helsing Season 4 Episode 3
Axel’s back, and he’s made a new friend. And though Kelly Overton’s Vanessa is noticeably absent from the episode, Van Helsing continues to artfully employ its recurring characters and guest stars to great advantage. Everybody’s got an agenda, and “Love Less” draws the triangle of Vanessa, Blak Tek, and the Dark One just a little bit tighter.
Does any actor play moral ambiguity better than Richard Harmon (The 100; Continuum)? While it’s still too early to tell whether Max turns out to be the borderline sociopath we observe in his first few scenes, all indications point toward a man entirely comfortable profiting from the suffering of others. “I love this God damned apocalypse,...

China’s Huanxi Media Group Limited has bought the exclusive broadcasting right in the mainland for the forthcoming sci-fi TV series “Snowpiercer” from ITV Studios Global Entertainment. The show is based on South Korean director Bong Joon-Ho’s film of the same name and is set to debut on TBS in the U.S. in the spring of 2020. TV producers are taking inspiration from unexpected places these days - including music. Dolly Parton has an anthology series, Heartstrings, in development at Netflix that's based on her catalog of songs, and she's not the only musician whose songs are inspiring new shows. Heart of Life, which was ordered by ABC, is inspired by a John Mayer song. Other than lending his song to the show's title and inspiration, though, is Mayer involved in any official capacity?
The series is based on Mayer's 2006 song by the same name, which was part of his Continuum album. Mayer serves as an executive producer on the show, alongside Ben Queen, Paul Weitz, Melvin Mar, and Jake Kasdan. According to Deadline, the show was developed internally at 20th Century Fox Television for a while, with a spec script written by Queen; the project went into development in part because of Mar's friendship with Mayer.

Netflix has given the go ahead to The Order season 2, ensuring that the battle between witches and werewolves will continue.
A quick renewal announcement has come through from Netflix for The Order season 2 according to Deadline. This news is almost certainly welcome for those viewers who were wondering what would happen to the Knights of St. Christopher werewolves after the events of the season finale. Fortunately, lead actors Sarah Grey and Jake Manley are on board for the new season.
The Order may have snuck under people's radar, but enough people tuned in to the series about a secret magical society hidden on a college campus for Netflix to keep the story going. The annual musical installment of The Magicians loses its way a bit but delivers some powerful character moments for Margo.
TV
This The Magicians review contains spoilers.
The Magicians Season 4 Episode 10
The best thing that can be said about this episode of The Magicians is that it showcased Summer Bishil’s Mvp performance as Margo, which has been one of the most admirable aspects of season 4. Unfortunately, that’s about all that was great about “All That Hard, Glossy Armor,” the much-anticipated annual musical episode which, despite a few fun moments, mostly fell flat. The pursuit of Enyalius was surprisingly anti-climactic, and Zelda’s awakening to the Library’s betrayal was at best a set-up for future action. And whether you found Margo’s liberation of the women of the southern tribes inspiring or overly political, it’s unclear how her experience — and her newly acquired exorcising axes — will actually help with Eliot’s possession.

Last year, DC unleashed a dark take on the Teen Titans story on their new platform, DC Universe. It was called Titans, and next week, you can own the entire first season on Digital! More within...
For years now, Warner Bros. and DC Comics have made a huge effort to deliver darker, edgier adaptations of their beloved superheroes. With network television restrictions, they hadn't been able to go as far as they may have liked with Arrow, Flash, Supergirl, Black Lightning, and Legends of Tomorrow. That is, until the DC Universe debuted. With DC's own streaming platform, they were able to finally unleash the full potential of their dark universe, starting with Titans.
The first season of Titans debuted shortly after the release of DC Universe. In my opinion, it was gritty, it was captivating, and, frankly, a badass take on one of the most beloved teams in comic book history,...

If asked to name your top five favorite John Mayer songs (or probably even your top 20 . . . ), chances are "The Heart of Life" wouldn't make the cut, and that's not because it isn't a good song - it's because you probably have never heard it. Taken from Mayer's third studio album, Continuum, the song was never even released as a single, but that's not stopping ABC from developing a drama series of the same name, with Mayer at the helm. Yeah, we're confused, too, but definitely intrigued.
Heart of Life will follow two sets of adult siblings from vastly different worlds who discover they share a father, forcing them to revisit everything they thought they knew about their shared parent and their separate childhoods. Mayer will serve as executive producer alongside writer Ben Queen (the guy behind NBC's Powerless), and though little has been revealed aside from the premise, we...
