Storyline
Did you know
- TriviaWhen Bizarro's face is revealed inside of the suit, he says something indistinguishable that subtitles reveal as "Alien Language". In reality, his dialogue is reversed. Using a dialogue reversing app reveals that Bizarro says "Leave me alone!" during this scene.
- GoofsWhen the soldiers are firing at the mine, several do not have their rifles touching their shoulders but an inch or two away. This indicates they are not firing real rounds but either blanks or gas charges as there is no kick to the rifle. A trained shooter would plant the butt of the stock into their shoulder so that the rifle doesn't slam into their shoulder, which would hurt accuracy in shooting.
- Quotes
Clark Kent: I feel like a complete and utter failure.
Lois Lane: Welcome to the world of parenting.
- Crazy creditsEchoing the reveal of Bizarro, the final "Superman & Lois" title card is a mirror image.

The Thing in the Mines gives us some great character development and drama, whilst also progressing the story forward
Gregory Smith returns to direct the third episode of Superman and Lois. This episode has Clark's visions becoming worse whilst the threat enlarges, we also get to see more of Lana running for mayor and Lois personal arc with General Lane making his first appearance in the second season. I can only praise the script and direction, Gregory Smith did a terrific job and a big reason is him being an actor himself and a great director too. There's also some great cinematography and the visual effects are also strong, keeping the same quality from the previous season if not better. But back to the direction, Gregory Smith nailed it with this episode, showing once again how he's perfect for the show as his visual storytelling and simply getting the characters and story, it's perfect.
The Thing in the Mines continues the previous episodes plot and character arcs, whilst bringing us the reveal of the big bad and honestly more of the good stuff. Katie Aldrin & Juliana James wrote the script for this episode and I couldn't see any flaws regarding the writing in this episode, it was the quality we are used in seeing and the same is said regarding the other departments, the quality is there. Whilst the previous episodes were more character driven and building up the villain and mostly focusing on character development. This episode does the opposite as it's more plot focused, but the character drama is still there and the writing is overall quite great, even the teenagers dialogue is excellent in this episode. Seeing the villain in person I don't want to spoil anything but I was a little bit disappointed but I hope it'll improve in the next couple of episodes.
I appreciate the work the writers, producers and well everyone who's working on this show, Superman and Lois is a show so very human. Comparing this to another show in the Arrowverse is something I'm unable to do now days, the quality is higher in every way. Especially the writing, pacing and acting. These characters act like human beings and that's why so many tune into this spectacular show. The conversations matter and each scene is there for a purpose, which I can't really say about the other shows now days. This season is really off to a great start, I absolutely loved this episode.
