Former Miami Vice star Don Johnson is returning to NBC. After lengthy negotiations, Johnson just closed a deal to star in the network's drama pilot from Michael Patrick King A Mann's World. In the vein of Shampoo, the project, from Warner Bros. TV, centers on Allan Mann (Johnson), a 50something handsome and sexy straight Beverly Hills hairdresser who is struggling to stay young and relevant in a place where looks are everything. Not ready to give up his passion for what he does, he rolls the dice and risks it all to expand his beauty empire by purchasing the building next door to his salon to transform into a day spa. Johnson was the an early choice for the role and the first to get an offer for it. Nash Bridges alum Johnson's most recent regular TV gig was on the WB series Just Legal. Though the trailer for this Monday’s finale screams “last episode,” rumors are buzzing that One Tree Hill will get an eighth season!
It’s true, BFFs! There’s still hope that we’ll get to see more of Sophia Bush, Robert Buckley and the rest of the gang from Tree Hill this fall! According to Entertainment Weekly’s Michael Ausiello, “The CW is said to be strongly considering renewing both One Tree Hill and Life Unexpected for 12 episodes apiece.” Half a season is better than no season at all, and it would give the show an opportunity to wrap up its story lines and give fans the ending they deserve.
But in case the show doesn’t get picked up, Sophia, who plays slutty cheerleader-turned-fashion designer Brooke Davis, is prepared for the worst. She joined the ABC comedy pilot for Southern Discomfort,...

Sophia Bush has revealed that she almost missed the filming for her new pilot. The One Tree Hill star explained that the volcanic ash cloud nearly stopped her from returning to Los Angeles for her new show Southern Discomfort. According to WENN, she said: "I went to shoot a film in Europe. I was in Germany. And then the volcano in Iceland erupted and I was stuck. "And I basically sent all my luggage to FedEx and said, 'Send it whenever', and then I went to five countries and finally (more)...

Actress Sophia Bush almost lost out on the lead role in new TV comedy Southern Discomfort after finding herself stranded in Europe due to the volcanic eruption in Iceland.
The One Tree Hill star was cast in the family sitcom, about a father whose life is disrupted when his adult children move back home.
But she feared she would be fired from the job after struggling to catch a flight from Germany, where she was filming a movie, to return to Los Angeles in time to shoot the pilot episode. Flights across the whole of Europe were grounded for five days due to thick ash clouds pumped into the air by the Eyjafjallajokull volcano blast.
Bush managed to make it back just in time - but only after trekking through five different countries to find an L.A.-bound flight.
She says, "I went to shoot a film in Europe. I was in Germany. And then the volcano in Iceland erupted and I got stuck. And I basically sent all my luggage to (courier service) FedEx, and said send it whenever, and then I went to five countries and finally I managed to get back to Los Angeles by going to Israel and then flying home.
"But luckily the day after I got back I filmed a pilot for a new television show. I was worried I would be the only person alive who could say I lost a job due to an ash cloud! But I made it home and shot the pilot, so it's been a crazy two weeks!"...

The show hasn’t been canceled yet, but it’s a bad sign when the lead actress makes plans to join a new series!
I’m thinking Sophia Bush, 27, doesn’t have Too much faith that The CW will renew One Tree Hill for an eighth season next fall. According to The Hollywood Reporter, she just snagged a lead role in Southern Discomfort, a comedy pilot being pitched to ABC. The good news is that if One Tree Hill does get renewed for the fall, Sophia is committed to doing it, and Southern Discomfort will have to find another actress.
Even before Sophia’s new role was announced, things weren’t looking good for One Tree Hill. The CW has already announced most of its returning shows for the 2010-2011 season, and the veteran drama is reportedly battling it out with newcomer Life Unexpected for the last slot.

'One Tree Hill' has been on the air for seven seasons, which have included a major flash-forward reboot of the show for its fifth season, the ouster of its two biggest stars -- Chad Michael Murray and Hilarie Burton -- after its sixth season and the real-life marriage (and subsequent divorce) of stars Murray and Sophia Bush.
But has the CW teen drama finally hit a wall with news that Bush, its biggest remaining star, is looking to move on to a higher profile show -- and network -- for next season?
Bush, who plays teen queen-turned-fashion mogul Brooke Davis on 'Oth,' has signed on to co-star in the ABC comedy pilot 'Southern Discomfort,' in which she will play the daughter of a Texas couple played by Don Johnson and Mary Steenburgen.

Casting news comes from Sophia Bush who is currently still paying duties as "One Tree Hill" regular. THR reported that the actress is joining a new comedy pilot by ABC titled "Southern Discomfort". While many ask what it means for "Oth" which is yet to get a renewal from The CW, E! Online provides an answer which is not so bad to hear.
Bush may have signed up for "Discomfort" but the show is second in her priority. Should The CW order an eighth season of "Oth", then Bush will be back fully committed to the series that propelled her to fame. Furthermore, E!'s source said the chance of "Oth" being renewed is actually big and "better than 50/50."
The CW is yet to announce the fate of some shows including "Life Unexpected" and "Melrose Place". However, the network is expected to make it soon before the May presentation of the 2010 Fall line up.
