Fifth Season, the production company behind “Severance” and “80 for Brady,” has been hit with another round of layoffs due to the historic Hollywood double strike.
The cost-cutting measures impacted 30 executive and administrative roles, totaling 12% of the company. Thursday’s layoffs follow a previous round of cuts in April that decreased 2% of its staff, including eight executives.
“Today we made the difficult decision to reduce Fifth Season’s headcount due to the impact on our business operations as a result of the ongoing dispute between the AMPTP and WGA & SAG-AFTRA,” a spokesperson for Fifth Season said in a statement. “This resulted in the loss of 30 positions across executive and administrative roles, approximately 12% of our workforce. Our team is extraordinary and the reduction of staff by even one individual, let alone many, is heartbreaking”

Fifth Season, the company formerly known as Endeavor Content, is cutting around 12% of its workforce as a result of the impact of the dual Hollywood strikes.
The company, which is behind series such as Severance and Normal People, is axing 30 positions, across both executive and administrative roles.
It is the second time this year that the business, which is now majority owned by Korean studio Cj Enm, which paid $785M for an 80% stake, has had to make cuts following layoffs in April.
The company is run by Graham Taylor and Chris Rice, who are Co-CEOs. Joe Hipps runs the TV side of the business as EVP, TV Development and Production and Alexis Garcia runs the film group.
On the TV side, it is also behind See, Killing Eve, The Night Manager, Tokyo Vice, and upcoming projects such as Alma Har’el’s Lady in the Lake starring Natalie Portman for Apple.

Exclusive: Patriots, the hot new play by The Crown’s Peter Morgan, has recouped during its 12-week run in London’s West End, making a move to Broadway more than likely.
The play’s success is a remarkable achievement. Transferring the drama from the Almeida Theatre in Islington to the Noel Coward Theatre was a risky proposition to start with and it was always a gamble.
All those involved were nervous, including Morgan, I understand.
The production team wondered whether audiences would be drawn to a story about Russian oligarchs and the rise to power of Vladimir Putin. But, as producer Sonia Friedman says, the play is both “incredibly timely and relevant,” although she notes that Morgan “wrote the bulk prior to the Russian invasion of Ukraine.”

One could make -- and no doubt some resourceful Marvel Cinematic Universe fans have made -- a video about Loki (Tom Hiddleston) hooking up with different characters in the MCU using footage from Hiddleston's non-Marvel projects. The actor had a tragic affair with Rachel Weisz (Melina Vostokoff in "Black Widow") in "The Deep Blue Sea," played one-half of a pair of vampiric lovers along with Tilda Swinton (the McU's Ancient One) in "Only Lovers Left Alive," and starred as Hank Williams in "I Saw the Light," with the Scarlet Witch herself, Elizabeth Olsen, playing the late country music legend's wife. Hiddleston even had a fling with Elizabeth Debicki (Ayesha in the "Guardians of the Galaxy" films) in "The Night Manager," in addition to a non-zero amount of sexual tension with "Captain Marvel" actor Brie Larson in "Kong: Skull Island."

Former Disney India head and producer of Sony Liv hit “Rocket Boys,” Siddharth Roy Kapur has hailed the reinvigorated Indian box office and robust streaming space. Nevertheless, he sees challenges ahead.
After Shah Rukh Khan’s “Pathaan” ignited a stagnant post-pandemic box office in January, hits have been sporadic. While there were sparks across India’s various language-specific film industries, including the Hindi-language “The Kerala Story,” “Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar” and “Zara Hatke Zara Bachke,” the Telugu-language “Waltair Veerayya” and “Veera Simha Reddy,” the Malayalam-language “2018” and “Romancham” and the Tamil-language “Ponniyin Selvan: II,” the overall box office remained sluggish for the first five months of 2023.
The Indian box office caught fire in the June-July period with hits including the Hindi-language “Satyaprem Ki Katha,” Marathi-language “Baipan Bhaari Deva,” Punjabi-language “Carry On Jatta 3,” Telugu-language “Bro” and “Baby” and Tamil-language “Maaveeran” keeping the turnstiles ticking over.

The Night Manager (Disney+ Hotstar)
Sometimes the biggest of strategists can go wrong. The minds that decided to split writer-director Sandeep Modi’ s The Night Manger into two (messily amputated ) halves , have done the series a huge disservice.
Part 2, as it were, is a vegan’s delight. All the meat was in Part 1, and even the principal performances were more accentuated by the predominant emotions in the first-half. The second-half is all about nemesis. And not of the subtle variety.
There are no new revelations for us to chew on. We know Aditya Roy Kapoor’s Shaan Sengupta has infiltrated the antagonist arms dealer Shelly Rungta’s organization.
We saw in Part 1 that Shaan won the ruthless Rungta’s trust by staging his son’s kidnapping and rescue. Miraculously the little boy disappears in the second half.Maybe he got kidnapped again, this time for real, and we don’t know about it.

Disney+ Hotstar lost the rights to offer Indian Premier League (Ipl) cricket last year, but the streamer remains India’s market leader, according to Ampere Analysis.
The Disney-owned service has a 29% share of India’s 171 million streaming subscribers, Ampere’s latest report reveals — about 50 million subs as of Q1 2023. Rivals Prime Video and Netflix trail behind with 12.4 million and 6.2 million, respectively.

Exclusive: The BBC’s controversial Narendra Modi documentary may have been banned in India but local viewers are still finding ways to watch it, according to analysts.
Global analysis firm Parrot Analytics ranked India: The Modi Question amongst its top 10 ‘global breakout shows’ outside the U.S. for the first week in March, the most recent week for which it has data.
The consumption data tracks viewing across YouTube, social media and includes piracy, which Parrot Communications Manager Wade Payson-Denney said is “particularly relevant in this case as the content was banned in India.”
“The significant global demand suggests that Indian consumers worked around the ban,” he told Deadline.
Parrot’s metric gave The Modi Question a market multiplier score of 14.7, meaning that, for the week to March 3, the show had 14.7 times more demand than the average show worldwide across all platforms. This metric places it in amongst big budget...

MaXXXine is the third title in A24‘s first major horror franchise, on the heels of West’s films X and Pearl, both of which were released to much acclaim last year. “The White Lotus” is set to win Jennifer Coolidge another Emmy for her star turn in the hit HBO show — but Coolidge isn’t the only supporting player who deserves some awards love this season. Tom Hollander turned in yet another fine performance with typically scene-stealing panache.
In the second season of “The White Lotus,” Hollander plays Quentin — a rich, gay English expat living in Sicily, which is where the show is set. Hollander’s performance as Quentin is typically colorfully and addictive and critics have lined up to praise the English actor.
Liam Gaughan of The Collider called Hollander’s Quentin “one of the most dynamic characters in the series,” explaining that Hollander’s performance brings a “playfulness, mystery, and darkly comic wit to the storyline.” Gaughan wrote: “Of all the shocking moments in ‘Arrivederci,’ [season finale] Quentin’s cold, seemingly impenetrable demeanor stands out as the most chilling.”

Spencer Matthews has opened up about his expedition to find his brother, Michael Matthews, who died after summiting Mount Everest in 1999 aged just 22.
The former Made In Chelsea star turned broadcaster, 34, stars in Disney Plus’s one-off documentary, Finding Michael, which tells the story of his brother’s disappearance and his family’s journey to recover Michael’s body 20 years later.
Michael Matthews was the youngest Briton to summit Everest, but just three hours after he reached the peak, he went missing. His brother, Spencer, who was aged 10 when Michael went missing and died, had always struggled to accept his death, in part because his family did not have a body to mourn.
Then, in 2017, Spencer’s family was sent a picture by a climber that showed what appeared to be a dead body buried in the snow, in a similar location on the mountain to where Michael went missing.

Kevin Costner’s Yellowstone co-star has addressed rumours that the actor is leaving the series.
Fans of the Western drama were recently shocked by the claims that Costner would step away from his role as the head of the Dutton family.
The reports stated that Costner’s alleged decision had prompted creator, Sicario and Hell or High Water writer Taylor Sheridan, to bring the show to an end. A spin-off starring Matthew McConaughey is said to be in the works.
It had previously been claimed that Sheridan locked heads with Costner, who won a Golden Globe for his role in January, over the actor’s shooting schedules for another project, which left the Yellowstone crew with minimal time to complete filming.
The actor’s attorney refuted this claim, stating: “The idea that Kevin was only willing to work one week on the second half of season five of Yellowstone is an absolute lie.

It has been seven years since Tom Hiddleston starred as soldier-turned-hotel-manager-turned intelligence asset Jonathan Pine in John le Carré adaptation The Night Manager. He's finally headed back to that role in a new season of the show.
Yes, in the increasing trend of limited series getting new seasons, David Farr is back writing a new season, which will be a co-production of the BBC and Amazon this time (the first run was a collaboration between the Beeb and AMC in the States).
As for the story? Following British arms dealer Richard Roper (Hugh Laurie) being taken away by the Syrians at the end of Season 1, Hiddleston’s Pine is informed he is dead two years later, and he has to face up to a new, even more deadly challenge.
This may even lead to a Season 3, but for now the second will shoot later this year in London and South Africa.

It seems like a million years ago, because so much has happened in the realm of prestige TV since, but the BBC/AMC thriller series, “The Night Manager,” was only released back in 2016. However, it’s been long enough that folks just assumed that one season of the John le Carré adaptation was all we’d ever get. Well, that not only appears to be false, but we might actually be getting two more seasons of Tom Hiddleston goodness.

Having someone who loves and understands you makes your life a better experience. When it comes to choosing your life partner, one must follow the heart. The recent Kiara Advani-Siddharth Malhotra wedding, and even Hardik Pandya and Natasha Stankovic renewing vows, made headlines. Celebrity weddings always gain a lot of attention. Actor Akashdeep Sabir, who was recently seen in the web series ‘The Night Manager’ co-starring Anil Kapoor and Aditya Roy Kapur, feels the media plays a huge role behind it.
“I think the media hyped it more than what people want to see. It’s just like any other destination marriage in India where marriages are really overdone. What’s nice is the coming together of two stars and we wish them happy times ahead,” Akashdeep talks about Sid-Kiara matrimony before adding, “The actors themselves want publicity most of the time. Who doesn’t? Invasion of privacy wouldn’t really apply here.

Anil Kapoor has never been afraid of taking risks. The Indian film icon, amongst the best-known Bollywood stars in the West after starring in 24, Slumdog Millionaire and Mission: Impossible — Ghost Protocol, has always sought to blaze a trail, first by working in television well before it became acceptable for film stars in India to do so, and most recently by embracing projects for streaming platforms.
Kapoor’s latest endeavor is the Disney+ Hotstar streaming original limited series The Night Manager, which launched on the platform on Feb. 17. Created by Sandeep Modi, the spy drama is an adaptation of John le Carré’s 1993 novel of the same name. The series tells the story of Shaan Sengupta (Aditya Roy Kapur), an Indian intelligence operative who goes undercover as a hotel night manager at a luxury resort in Bangladesh to surveil arms dealer Shailendra “Shelly” Rungta (Kapoor). The thriller also stars Sobhita Dhulipala,...
