It takes an individual with a certain touch to be able to helm a documentary about a terrorist attack still fresh in the minds and hearts of so many people worldwide. Chicago – In Dan Reed’s unmissable 2009 HBO documentary “Terror in Mumbai,” cameras captured the overwhelming carnage caused by ten young Pakistani men. They were obeying every word of their elders, heard in the film via phone correspondence. The terrorists gradually began to resemble wide-eyed kids, as they became dazzled by the lavish scenery in Mumbai, an environment that clashed with their sheltered existence.
It’s precisely the raw humanity and learned ignorance of these terrorists that make them so frightening, yet British satirist Chris Morris has utilized their fundamental absurdity to fuel his poignant, provocative and fiercely funny black comedy, “Four Lions.” As co-producer of the acclaimed mock news show, “The Day Today,” Morris has no interest in relying on safe comic caricatures to get a laugh. His goal is to subvert stereotypes, not reinforce them.

Amongst all the MTV Movie Awards hoopla on Sunday, June 6, did you know there was another awards show happening? The 63rd annual British Academy of Film and Television Awards.
"American Idol," "Britain's Got Talent" and "X Factor" judge Simon Cowell (pictured left being cheeky with fiance Mezhgan Hussainy) was honored with a special award recognizing his development of new talent. Check out his acceptance speech below. And apparently Simon Cowell is not finished with merely conquering the U.K. and U.S.
According to London paper the Sun, Cowell wants to start taking contestants from all the "Got Talent" franchises from around the world and pitting them against each other in a global competition. The Sun cites a source close to the mogul saying, "This has been Simon's dream. It will be the biggest reality show the world's seen."
This is a British paper, so take it with a grain of salt.

Melvyn Bragg and Simon Cowell awarded gongs; BBC up for more awards than other broadcasters
The Bafta winners in full
Julie Walters made a plea last night for more money to be allocated to drama as she scooped the leading actress award at the TV Baftas for her portrayal of the late Labour politician Mo Mowlam.
"Important drama touches people," said the actor, who was honoured for her role in the Channel 4 production Mo, but had also been nominated for her performance in A Short Stay In Switzerland, the BBC1 drama inspired by the story of Dr Anne Turner, who took her own life in Zurich in 2006.
"I'm not saying it changes the world, but seeds are planted. It's really important and, yes, the money should be made available," Walters said.
Her call came on a night when Channel 4's teen drama Misfits won the award for the best drama series,...

HBO shipped its Emmy campaign box to the 14,000 members of the TV academy a week or two earlier than usual, this one arriving in early April. In addition to the box with two booklets (one for DVDs of TV series, one for specials/movies/docus), a separate package was shipped containing three DVDs of the full miniseries "The Pacific." Not included were some shows that don't air till after the packages shipped. On May 5, HBO will send voters an additional package containing DVDs of "You Don't Know Jack" (Al Pacino as Dr. Jack Kevorkian), "The Special Relationship" (Michael Sheen and Dennis Quaid as British Prime Minister Tony Blair and U.S. President Bill Clinton) and Bill Maher's special "I'm Not Wrong." Compare this year's Emmy box to the ones shipped in 2009, 2008 and 2007. Read the opinions of our forum posters to this year's box here.

Washington, Nov 16 (Ians) ‘Terror In Mumbai’, a new riveting documentary reconstructing the horrendous attack on India’s financial capital airs in the Us Thursday to mark the first anniversary of the Nov 26 assault.
Directed by Dan Reed, who made a similar film out of a disastrous hostage taking at a Russian theatre in ‘Terror in Moscow,’ shown on HBO in 2003, the movie recaps how a small band of terrorists from Pakistan spread death through Mumbai, much of it at two well-known hotels, including the lavish Taj Mahal Palace & Tower.
More than 170 people died in the attack, which Reed recreates from news footage, security.
