Back in 2019, Rebel Wilson starred in a meta romantic comedy called Isn’t It Romantic, which was released by Warner Bros. / New Line Cinema in the United States and Canada and received a Netflix streaming release throughout the rest of the world. Now Deadline reports that Isn’t It Romantic is getting an unexpected sort of follow-up – one that will dive into horror territory! This follow-up is called Isn’t It Scary.
New Line Cinema has hired April Prosser, who earned her first writing credit with the Netflix romantic comedy Look Both Ways, to write the screenplay for Isn’t It Scary. Look Both Ways had the following synopsis: On the eve of her college graduation, Natalie’s life diverges into parallel realities: one in which she becomes pregnant and remains in her hometown to raise her child and another in which she moves to LA to pursue her dream career.

New Line Cinema is developing a sequel to the 2019 romantic comedy Isn’t It Romantic, but what’s interesting about the follow-up film is that it’s set to poke fun at… horror tropes?
Titled Isn’t It Scary, the upcoming sequel to the Rebel Wilson-starring comedy was announced by Deadline this week, with April Prosser (Look Both Ways) writing the script.
It’s interesting to note that Isn’t It Romantic, which poked fun at rom-com tropes, was directed by Todd Strauss-Schulson, known to horror fans as the director of The Final Girls (2015). So maybe it’s not such a stretch that the franchise is dipping its toes into horror. That being said, Deadline’s report doesn’t mention whether or not Strauss-Schulson will return to direct.
In Isn’t It Romantic, which also starred Liam Hemsworth and Betty Gilpin, “A young woman disenchanted with love mysteriously finds herself trapped inside a romantic comedy.

Exclusive: New Line Cinema is in early development on Isn’t It Scary, a follow-up to its rom-com Isn’t It Romantic starring Rebel Wilson, multiple sources tell Deadline.
April Prosser (Look Both Ways) has been tapped to pen the script. We’re told Todd Garner will produce for Broken Road Productions, alongside frequent collaborators Gina Mathews and Grant Scharbo of Little Engine Entertainment, though these deals haven’t yet closed, as it’s early days here. No other talent attachments have been formalized at this time.
Playfully subverting and satirizing the conventions of the rom-com genre, Isn’t It Romantic grossed over $48 million worldwide upon its release via Warner Bros in 2019. Directed by Todd Strauss-Schulson, the film centers on Natalie (Wilson), an Australian architect living in New York City who is cynical about love and romance. The story takes a fantastical turn when Natalie, after a bump on the head,...

Barry Levinson, director of Best Picture winner Rain Man (for which Levinson also won the Best Director Oscar), is producing a mystery thriller called American Sweatshop with Oz showrunner Tom Fontana, and Deadline reports that Riverdale, Look Both Ways, and Hustlers star Lili Reinhart has been cast in the lead role.
Emmy nominee Uta Briesewitz, whose previous credits include Stranger Things, The Wheel of Time, Westworld and This Is Us, is set to direct the film from a screenplay by Matthew Nemeth (City on a Hill).
In a device driven world, American Sweatshop will take a look at the toll of social media through the eyes of Daisy Moriarty (Reinhart), who while dealing with a chaotic personal life, finds herself sucked into the underbelly of the internet. Moriarty, and a motley group of coworkers, toil in a cottage industry of agencies that evaluate harmful and offensive pictures and videos uploaded to social media.

It’s Superman!
On Monday, “Superman” writer-director James Gunn released the first look at star David Corenswet as Superman in an Instagram post.
The photo depicts the Man of Steel sitting in what appears to be a luxury highrise condo in his iconic blue, red, and yellow costume. He’s pulling on his boots, presumably to deal with the pink-and-blue comet-like burst that’s visible in the sky out the window. He may be a nearly immortal superhero from the planet Krypton, but he puts his boots on one at a time like everyone else.

David Corenswet is one of the biggest hypes in the industry right now, and a major reason behind this is his perfect casting as the iconic Superman by James Gunn for his upcoming reboot of the DC Universe. But years before this Gunn-Corenswet collaboration for the Dcu, there was a time when this pair almost got together for a project for another universe.

Or, to be more precise, for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, considering how Corenswet auditioned for the star-studded role of Adam Warlock in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. However, Gunn apparently rejected him for the role only to eventually choose him for the major protagonist of the movie that would kick-start his version of the Dcu!

Lili Reinhart has shared that she was recently diagnosed with alopecia.
The Riverdale star took to TikTok on Monday to post a video of her undergoing red light therapy, and wrote in the clip, “Was just diagnosed with alopecia in the midst of a major depressive episode.”
Reinhart didn’t share many details about the diagnosis. Alopecia occurs when the “immune system attacks hair follicles and causes hair loss,” according to the National Institute of Health. It typically affects the head and face but can cause hair loss from any part of the body.
The cause of the condition is unknown and it impacts as many as 6.7 million people in the United States alone, the National Alopecia Areata Foundation reports.
In the footage shared to social media, Reinhart can be seen lip-syncing to audio of a man saying, “I’m pushed beyond the limits of what a person should be pushed to endure.

David Corenswet has landed the part of Clark Kent in James Gunn‘s Superman: Legacy, which is set to be released in theaters July 11, 2025.
On Tuesday, Gunn, the director and co-chairperson of DC Studios, announced that Corenswet will suit up to play the role of Superman or Man of Steel, along with Lois Lane, who will be played by The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel‘s star, Rachel Brosnahan.
Fans noticed Corenswet’s similar appearance to Superman actor Henry Cavill long ago when he debuted on Netflix’s The Politician.
He tried to play it cool on the comparisons. “I am officially not taking a position,” he told EW in 2019. “I think that’s the way to go. But it has come to my attention. It actually came to my attention before the internet got a hold of me, and my sort of pie-in-the-sky ambition is definitely to play Superman.”

A new Man of Steel has arrived. After an extensive search for the actor to fill the role of Superman in writer/director James Gunn’s upcoming DC reboot “Superman: Legacy,” 29-year-old American actor David Corenswet has won the coveted role. He’ll star alongside Emmy-winning “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” actress Rachel Brosnahan in the new Warner Bros. film, which is slated for release in 2025 and will officially kick off Gunn’s rebooted (and interconnected) DC universe.
Much like the actors who donned the tights before him, Corenswet isn’t a complete unknown but also isn’t (yet) an incredibly recognizable performer. Consider this your primer to get to know the new Man of Steel.

David Corenswet has won the coveted role of Clark Kent and will be the new Man of Steel in DC Studios’ inaugural “Superman: Legacy,” the studio announced on Tuesday.
Rachel Brosnahan has also been cast as Lois Lane.
Corenswet replaces Henry Cavill, who had played the role since 2013’s “Man of Steel.”
“Superman: Legacy” tells the story of Superman’s (Corenswet) journey to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing as Clark Kent of Smallville, Kansas. Few Netflix originals have received as much advance press and social media attention than Andrew Dominik’s “Blonde,” his adaptation of Joyce Carol Oates’ novel about Marilyn Monroe starring Ana de Armas. It would have been surprising had it not immediately risen to #1 on the streamer’s top 10 movie list — and it did. That lasted three days.
Facing critical backlash and less-than-stellar word of mouth, it’s now at #3. To add to the ignominy, what replaced it was the Gerard Butler thriller “Last Seen Alive,” which had a brief run as a direct-to-vod release in May.
In recent weeks, Netflix originals “Lou,” “End of the Road,” “Me Time,” Day Shift,” and “Look Both Ways” all spent more time atop its movie-watching chart. Some had stars like Kevin Hart, Mark Wahlberg, Queen Latifah, and Jamie Foxx to elevate them. De Armas is not the same boldface name, but her credits include “Knives Out,...

Lili Reinhart left jaws dropping once again.
The beautiful American actress, who is mostly known for her role as Betty Cooper on Riverdale, stunned for a photoshoot.
She recently was featured in Hunger magazine, and the looks she wore were exceptional.
Reinhart’s magazine ensemble included a white knitted bra that she wore underneath a red striped jacket suit and matching belt and pants.
She laid down on her side to show off these pieces of clothing.
Reinhart accessorized with a couple of gold rings to adorn her classy and clean manicure, as well as an interesting pair of earrings with a pearl at the end.

Tales of the Walking Dead wrapped up its first season Sunday with a trippy episode that focused on a young couple claiming a house as their own after its owner dies.
Thanks to some ghostly occurrences, it quickly became a battle for survival.
Danny Ramirez, who played Eric, is no stranger to the franchise.
Ramirez revealed that he did 10 sessions for Telltale's The Walking Dead videogame.
He was set to play Javier.
"I played Javier before they aged him up," Ramirez said with a laugh.
"I had been in the world for a moment," he said, before revealing that working on Tales of the Walking Dead felt like a redemption arc for him.
Danny liked that his episode was unattached to anything else in The Walking Dead universe.

Lili Reinhart posed topless for Polaroid pics recently. Pic credit: @ImageCollect.com/Xavier Collin/Image Press Agency
Lili Reinhart recently shared topless pictures of herself as she appeared to enjoy a solo photoshoot using a Polaroid camera.
The Riverdale star was oozing “too cool for school” vibes as she posed with her back to the camera and, at times, looked over her shoulder in a flirtatious gesture.
She wore a white dress with a flower pattern wrapped around her shoulders, later dropping it down to reveal her bare back.
In one shot, it looked as if she had removed the dress entirely and covered herself with a white duvet as she stood in front of a sheer white curtain.
Lili looked as if she was posing for an Indie magazine or an artistic Vogue photoshoot, as she wore her blonde hair wrapped up in a clip and appeared to be makeup free.

The stars of a new Netflix romantic comedy-drama Look Both Ways, Lili Reinhart and David Corenswet, posed for the film’s premiere at Tudum Theater in Hollywood.
Reinhart stars in the film as Natalie, an aspiring artist whose life splits into two parallel realities after her college graduation.
This seems like a fun approach to a typical romantic film, which was directed by Kenyan filmmaker Wanuri Kahiu. Kahiu spoke about the film for the Golden Globe Awards saying, “Either through motherhood or artistry, it is about women striving for excellence. That is the most important thing and that is the big takeaway and why I wanted to be part of the project.”

The twisty limited series “Echoes,” starring Michelle Monaghan opposite herself as identical twins, led the Netflix Top 10 in the second week following its premiere Aug. 19. The series was followed by Neil Gaiman’s “The Sandman” and Mindy Kaling’s “Never Have I Ever,” the latter of which just premiered its third season.
“Echoes” took the top spot on the English TV List with 68.49 million hours viewed, making it the most viewed title this week. Fan-favorite “The Sandman” held on closely behind with 53.79 million hours viewed, garnering the Top 10 in 89 countries. “Never Have I Ever” logged 25.64 million hours to claim spot No. 3.

Of course, “Top Gun: Maverick” (Paramount/19.99) is the #1 film on all VOD charts its first week and probably will be for a good while — but it wasn’t the only success. As theatrical attendance hit new lows with no new product and aging summer hits, this might have been the biggest revenue weekend ever for home viewing platforms.
The VOD sites are now benefiting from the theatrical play summer hits including “Maverick,” “Nope” (Universal/19.99), and “DC League of Super-Pets” (Wbd). among debuting releases — none of which are available on the studios’ streaming sites. Meanwhile, Netflix seems to be counter-programming with a heavily original lineup that includes titles that may have once been intended for theaters.
Of note — “Maverick” is for sale as a digital download initially, not just a 48 hour rental. At this point after release, this would be normally, but usually after an earlier period of rental only. “Spider-Man: No Way Home...

In a strategic move by Universal, “Jurassic World: Dominion” (19.99) kept “Elvis” (Wbd/19.99) from two clear weeks at the top of VOD charts. Next week, all other game plans will be moot: “Top Gun: Maverick” (Paramount/19.99) comes to PVOD rental platforms Tuesday and will undoubtedly dominate for the foreseeable future.
Meantime, Netflix viewers continue to confound their overlords by preferring to watch the streamers’ less high-profile original films rather than the more expensive star-branded ones. “Look Both Ways” with “Riverdale” star Lili Reinhart as a college senior thinking through alternatives for her future knocked off Jamie Foxx’s “Day Shift” (now #3).
“Jurassic” will come to Peacock on September 2, with both the release version and one with extended scenes. The studio released the latter to PVOD this week. Lili Reinhart doesn’t want viewers of “Look Both Ways” to think that one of her character’s split storylines is the correct choice or ‘better than the other path.’
“You can obviously walk away from the film thinking ‘Oh, I really resonated with that path’ or ‘I really resonated with that one,’ but we wanted to make sure that one wasn’t a clear ‘Ding, ding, ding! That was the right one,’” she said.
Reinhart’s character Natalie Bennett faces two very different sets of circumstances after she sleeps with her friend Gabe (Danny Ramirez) and takes a pregnancy test the night of her college graduation. In one scenario, Natalie does not get pregnant, and her nausea gets chalked up to bad 7/11 sushi. In the other, she does get pregnant, and her whole post-college plan changes.

When Lili Reinhart got the call to star in and executive produce her first Netflix film, the “Riverdale” actor was all-in. With the popular CW series set to end next year after seven seasons, the 25-year-old is ready to re-establish herself outside of the beloved character Betty Cooper, and “Look Both Ways” marks the beginning of that next chapter.
The dramedy, out Wednesday on Netflix, follows Natalie, an ambitious woman who takes a pregnancy test on the eve of her college graduation. From there, her life diverges into two parallel realities — one in which she stays in Texas and becomes a young mom, and the other where she isn’t pregnant and moves to L.A. to pursue her dream of becoming an animator.

On paper, a film that is basically a mash-up of “Sliding Doors” and “Peggy Sue Got Married” starring “Riverdale‘s” Lili Reinhart should be a fun, diverting rom-com to wrap up the summer. Unfortunately, the new Netflix film “Look Both Ways” is misguided on almost every level.
Reinhart plays soon-to-be college graduate Natalie whose five-year, post-grad plan includes moving to Los Angeles with her best friend Cara and pursuing work in feature animation.

In director Wanuri Kahiu’s “Look Both Ways,” a twentysomething woman is confronted with a pivotal situation that splits her life in two, eventually landing both versions of herself at a crossroads. The film mixes the conceits of “Sliding Doors” and “For Keeps” into one refurbished product, eschewing fantasy or melodrama in favor of grounded authenticity and levity. While the filmmakers’ heads and hearts are in the right place with their resonant sentiments on taking risks and embracing fate, their execution of narrative basics proves lackluster.
Natalie (Lili Reinhart) may look like an animated Disney princess, but her life is no fairytale. The soon-to-be college graduate has a five-year plan for success. Or at least she thought she did. She didn’t factor in the spontaneous sex she and friend Gabe (Danny Ramirez) had after finals, which leaves her puking her guts out and taking a pregnancy test at a rowdy graduation party.

The Riverdale star plays out two different futures after an unexpected pregnancy in this warm but imbalanced exploration of ‘what if?’
“What if?” is a reliably magnetic question. What if you got rejected instead of accepted, took one job over another, cut and run on a lover or stuck it out? The non-Marvel multiverse potential is the evergreen hook of Idina Menzel’s Broadway vehicle If/Then, the NBC series Ordinary Joe, and Netflix’s new film Look Both Ways, in which Riverdale’s Lili Reinhart plays a recent college graduate whose unexpected pregnancy splinters her life into two distinct trajectories. Think a zillennial, streaming-era version of Sliding Doors, the 1998 film in which Gwyneth Paltrow plays a Londoner whose life diverges over making/missing a train and, like Look Both Ways, differentiates its timelines with a haircut.

When Wanuri Kahiu first received the script for Netflix’s “Look Both Ways,” the Kenyan director felt like she was, in a certain sense, reading her own story.
The dramedy focuses on Natalie (Lili Reinhart), who takes a pregnancy test on the eve of her college graduation. Her life then diverges into two parallel worlds: one where she stays in Texas and becomes a young mother, and the other in which she isn’t pregnant and moves to L.A. to pursue a career in animation.
“I felt it was partially my life, in the sense that I remember the exact moment I realized I was pregnant and how I literally saw my life take a parallel route,” Kahiu, now a mother of two, tells Variety. “I believe in parallel lives and multiple existences, and it really appealed to me.”

Just a few months ago, Netflix appeared to be on a very rough track. Then Stranger Things season 4 came around and led to a less-apocalyptic-than-expected Q2 earnings report for the streamer. With its new releases for August 2022, however, Netflix is going to have to find another hit to keep the good vibes rolling. Here are some of their best options.
Perhaps the biggest breakout candidate for Netflix this month is The Sandman on Aug. 5. Though Neil Gaiman’s classic comic has long been thought to be unadaptable, the folks behind 10-episode series are betting they’re the ones for the job. Get ready to meet Morpheus, the king of dreams and the ruler of The Dreaming.

A new cast has signed on for the next season of “Black Mirror,” Variety can reveal.
Netflix’s hit anthology series is gearing up for its long-awaited return and has lined up a star cast for Season 6. The show is now believed to be in production.
Sources indicate that the new faces joining the show are Zazie Beetz, Paapa Essiedu, Josh Hartnett, Aaron Paul, Kate Mara, Danny Ramirez, Clara Rugaard, Auden Thornton and Anjana Vasan. This casting specifically spans three episodes, and it’s understood more actors will join up for further episodes of the show.
Variety first revealed that a new season of the dystopian drama was in the works back in May. Specific details about stories are still being kept under wraps, but Season 6 will have more episodes than Season 5, which comprised of just three instalments and starred Andrew Scott, Anthony Mackie, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Topher Grace and Miley Cyrus.
