The film is based and filmed in Carmel, California, where Clint Eastwood was once mayor. The film stars Eastwood's Son, Scott Eastwood and his then wife, Dina Eastwood.
On the day after the production there was an attempted hostile takeover of the movie from the producer/director Lawrence Roeck because of the film's perceived association with the Eastwood family and the desire of investor Erika Lockridge to remove Roeck to replace him with her son, Eric Small. Roeck sued the investors Erika Lockridge, Jules Howe, Detlef Bittner, Clinton Howe and prevailed in getting the outstanding bills of the movie paid by court order with an attorney that was referred to Roeck by Clint and Dina Eastwood (former wife). The resulting movie was then released and went into distribution. Roeck continued on to direct Diablo with Scott Eastwood and is now working on his third and fourth feature movie.
