MILK is a terrific short film about the horrors of domestic violence. While it seems to offer no answers to the problem, it illustrates a case that ends in tragedy.
The film shows a young woman with her boyfriend--a gruff and humorless bully. Again and again, he berates and threatens her. Eventually, after she becomes pregnant, she miscarries after a particularly brutal beating where he shoved her backwards down the stairs (nice guy, huh?). Yet for much of the film you don't see this--you see her thinking about her baby. It's a terrible tragedy and ends on a particularly horrifying but interesting note.
Extremely well constructed and clever.
