In 2016, Zack Snyder launched Ben Affleck as the Dark Knight in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. The outing marked DC Studios’ next big take on the character following the immense acclaim received just years earlier with the Christian Bale version helmed by Christopher Nolan. However, unlike its predecessor, the ambitious, dark, gritty, and unhinged Dceu version failed to strike a chord at the box office, with a canonical wipeout coming in with 2023’s The Flash.

The Batman - Part II was originally supposed to be released on October 3, 2025, but as 2024 arrived with very few official updates amid potentially production-crippling strikes, speculation mounted that a delay may be inevitable, and the movie was officially pushed back almost a full year to October 2, 2026.
The lack of news over the past few months led to concern that Matt Reeves' sequel may have been cancelled altogether (not likely), but we had been assured that everything was still on track, and a very exciting rumor did the rounds today which claimed that The Batman - Part II was scheduled to begin filming next year - with Reeves shooting a third instalment back-to-back.
Given the amount of time that's been spent developing the sequel and previous comments Reeves made about expanding the "BatVerse," this seemed plausible enough, but DC Studios co-ceo James Gunn has now debunked the report via Threads.

Batman is a character that has been repeatedly cast in R-rated DC properties, which favor the dark and sinister nature of the character and his rogue’s gallery. Even when an R-rating is not sought for the project, it is mostly aimed at older children.

Alan Ritchson is currently raging as one of those actors in Hollywood whom fans just can’t get enough of. And the credit for such acclaim goes to his truly outstanding acting chops, coupled with his absolutely breathtaking physique. But despite this, the 41-year-old actor is yet to get approved by James Gunn to star as Batman in his upcoming version of the DC Universe.
Alan Ritchson in The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare.
However, while Gunn is yet to consent to his casting as the fan-favorite superhero, Ritchson has earned that commendation and high hopes from producer Jerry Bruckheimer, who couldn’t help but praise him for his magnificent onscreen presence. In fact, Bruckheimer is so impressed with the actor that he even expects him to become a big action star soon enough!

Looking at all the Batman movies that have been made so far, people might have noticed that a lot of the villains are repeated in the cinematic universe. From Christopher Nolan’s hot-take on The Joker to Matt Reeves with The Riddler, these villains are very well-known characters around the world.
Well, our team found something called the Bat-embargo which is essentially the reason for the lack of villains in the Dcau. The entire embargo is based on Christopher Nolan’s films and it seems that the Bat embargo is the reason why the Dcau has some obscure villains and the live-action has some fewer choices!

Jake Gyllenhaal was a serious contender to play Bruce Wayne in Christopher Nolan’s “Dark Knight” trilogy, but it appears losing the role to Christian Bale never impacted Gyllenhaal’s desire to play Batman on the big screen. Making the press rounds in support of his new Prime Video action movie “Road House,” Gyllenhaal was asked by Screen Rant if he was still interested in playing Batman.
“Oh, man. That’s a classic [role]. It’s an honor,” Gyllenhaal answered. “Speaking of playing roles that other incredible actors have played in the past … When I think about it, I’m going to play Iago in ‘Othello’ with Denzel Washington, and I think about like the history of actors that have played that role throughout time, and I’m intimidated by that. So that’s the first level. That’s what I’m working on right now. But of course. It would be an honor always.

Dune: Part 2 is an immense hit that continues to shine with its box-office accomplishments. While the movie’s success is a sum of several factors, Austin Butler’s terrifying performance surely contributed to it. He plays the role of Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen, the youngest nephew of Baron Vladimir Harkonnen. The 32-year-old actor has yet again stolen the limelight by portraying the menacing character to excellence, proving that he can nail any role.

James Gunn has now become the ‘Kevin Feige’ of the new Dcu. Last year, he announced several DC projects that will be a part of his vision for the beginning of the Dcu moving forward. While Kevin Feige has the experience and achieved success over the years, Gunn is also a solid filmmaker and has never disappointed audiences with his work.

Reports are circulating that the poor reception to last year’s The Flash have ended Andy Muschietti’s time directing Batman: The Brave And The Bold.
We don’t know a lot about the Batman in James Gunn’s all-new DC Universe, but we do know a couple of things.
Firstly, the Dark Knight that inhabits the new cinematic universe will be accompanied by Robin, the Boy Wonder. The teen sidekick behind the mask is said to be Damian Wayne, Batman’s own son. Apart from a few easter eggs sometimes, the character of Robin hasn’t really featured in Batman’s cinematic adventures, with the exception of 1997’s Batman & Robin, a film which wasn’t received especially well.
However, Gunn is aiming to successfully return the Dynamic Duo to the big screen in Batman: The Brave And The Bold, but according to reports, he may be looking for...

Watch any American cartoons (and/or play some video games) made in the 2000s-2010s and you'll notice some familiar voices across the shows. One voice you're bound to hear is that of John Dimaggio.
Born and raised in New Jersey, with the accent to prove it, the 6'4 Dimaggio has a deep voice that's as imposing as his frame. Don't think that he lacks range, though. He can play lovable heroes (Jake the Dog in "Adventure Time" or Aquaman in "Batman: The Brave and the Bold") and tough guys who are more emotional than they let on (Marcus Fenix in "Gears of War" or the short-tempered humanoid tiger alien Rath in "Ben 10"). He's just as good at playing villains, if not more so due to his baritone. Dimaggio's bad guys range from serious bad news to incompetent comic relief (Dr. Drakken in "Kim Possible").

"Merry Little Batman" is the latest Warner Bros. Animation movie, part of the wave of DC animated titles that Warner Bros. Discovery stupidly gave away under David Zaslav's regime.
The film follows Damian Wayne as he is forced to defend his home, and eventually all of Gotham, from supervillains while Batman is away one Christmas Eve. It is part Batman movie, part "Home Alone," part "The Grinch", and full Caped Crusader bliss. "Merry Little Batman" features a distinct and unique visual style that is reminiscent of Tim Burton's animated productions, with director Mike Roth ("Regular Show") giving the film an illustrative look inspired by Ronald Searle.
Arguably, the standout element is, well, Batman. Though the focus is definitely on Damian's story, this is a Batman unlike any we've seen in TV or film. This is a Batman without the growl. Instead, this Batman is a goof.

Viewers of Merry Little Batman meet Damian Wayne as the lovable scamp who chases his cat Selina through the halls of stately Wayne Manor, decked in a blanket for a cape and a brown paper bag for a cowl, just like his dear old dad, Batman. The delightful holiday special imagines Damian as a good-hearted soul who wants nothing more than to be like his pop, and doesn’t even get too upset at his father’s overprotective demands. When the Joker returns to Gotham while Batman is trapped in the Arctic, Damian gets his chance to prove that he deserves to be called “Son of the Bat.”
But comic book readers first met Damian under very different circumstances. In a 1987 graphic novel by Mike W. Barr and Jerry Bingham, Batman reluctantly joins forces with eco-terrorist Ra’s al Ghul to take down the assassin Quain. During the alliance, Batman...

James Gunn is famously active on social media, especially on the new platform, Threads, where he keeps sharing details and answering fan questions. And, just recently, he gave us two big updates for two highly-anticipated Dcu projects upcoming in the next several years – ‘Superman: Legacy,’ and ‘Batman: The Brave and the Bold.’
Both will be huge for DC Studios and for Gunn, who took over as co-ceo with Peter Safran a couple of years ago.
Recently, rumors started spreading on Twitter about the casting choices for ‘The Brave and the Bold.’ Jensen Ackles was allegedly cast as Bruce Wayne, Javon Walton as Damian Wayne, aka Robin, Wolfgang Novogratz as Dick Grayson, aka Nightwing, and Clancy Brown as Alfred Pennyworth.

“I’m gonna kill Aquaman and everything he holds dear,” promises Black Manta in the trailer for Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. “I’m gonna murder his family and burn his kingdom to ash.”
Such boasts are par for the course among supervillains like Black Manta (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II), and most people watching the trailer dismiss it as usual bad guy bluster. After all, the first Aquaman movie earned over $1 billion in 2018 because of its lighthearted tone. Gal Gadot’s ‘Wonder Woman 3’ has been taken off the shelf and is now no longer in development despite Gadot being more than open to do another Wonder Woman movie.
According to Variety, while Gadot had made several comments that the new Dcu heads James Gunn and Peter Safran will develop a ‘Wonder Woman 3’ with her, that is not the case right now, and neither do Gunn or Safran have any plans right now to develop any movie based on the iconic female superhero at DC Studios.

Did you think that there weren't going to be any more twists and turns in the saga of Warner Bros.' DC Universe? Think again! The entire slate of DC movies under the new leadership of James Gunn and Peter Safran has gone through some major shifts since they took over, resulting in Henry Cavill's recasting as Superman and an uncertain future for the remaining holdovers from Zack Snyder's run on the franchise. But perhaps one of the most recognizable stars from the previous regime, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, might have just received a second wind.
We previously reported late last year that a third "Wonder Woman" film was no longer moving forward, suggesting the likelihood of either another recasting or a complete reboot for Diana Prince. In any case, it seemed clear that neither Gadot nor director Patty Jenkins would be involved any longer after such a messy exit,...

"Star Trek" is all about exploring the unknown, a spirit that "Strange New Worlds" honors with its episodic, socially-conscious storytelling. The penultimate episode of season 2, "Subspace Rhapsody," will take "Star Trek" where it has never gone before — to its first musical episode.

That episode, a crossover with the animated series "Star Trek: Lower Decks," defied both time and medium. James Gunn has found his hero: David Corenswet has officially been cast as Clark Kent/the Man of Steel in the upcoming Superman: Legacy. He’ll be joined by Rachel Brosnahan, who has been tapped to play Lois Lane in the DC Studios film. Gunn himself confirmed the news on Twitter, adding, “They are not only both incredible actors, but also wonderful people.”
The news comes after a months-long talent search. Both Corenswet and Brosnahan’s names have been at the top of the pile since May, while Nicholas Hoult and Tom Brittney were also vying for the cape and Emma Mackey and Phoebe Dynevor were up for The Daily Planet’s star reporter. Reports that Gunn and his co-dc Studios boss, Peter Safran, had screen-tested all six actors earlier this month signaled that a final decision was near.

James Gunn agreed during a recent interview on the “Inside of You” podcast that there are “too many” superhero movies and television shows. Gunn is the new co-boss of DC Studios alongside Peter Safran, and he assured fans the company will not “overextend” itself with content as it begins to launch a new DC Universe that includes Gunn’s “Superman: Legacy” and more.
“We’re going to be very careful with the product that we put out and making sure everything is as good as it can possibly be,” Gunn said.
While the sheer volume of superhero content is a problem, Gunn stressed that lazy storytelling is a much bigger issue facing the genre at the moment.
“People have gotten really lazy with their superhero stories,” Gunn said. “And they have gotten to the place where, ‘Oh, it’s a superhero, let’s make a movie about it.’ And then,...

Note: This Story Contains Heavy Spoilers For The Flash. Beware!
If you saw The Flash this weekend, you no doubt had quite a chuckle at the wild final reveal that, in the new timeline Ezra Miller’s Barry Allen finds himself in, neither Ben Affleck nor Michael Keaton are Batman. Instead, Bruce Wayne is played by George Clooney, marking the actor’s first time since playing the role in 1997’s disastrous Batman and Robin. It turns out that this is not the ending that was initially conceived for the film and that the end was revised twice due to changing studio regimes.
According to a report in THR, the original ending called for Michael Keaton to be revealed as Bruce Wayne, with Sasha Calle also appearing as Supergirl, indicating they both existed in whatever new timeline Allen found himself in or somehow survived General Zod. You can actually see this...

After "The New Batman Adventures" ended, the production team was ordered to create a cartoon about Batman in high school. The result of this attempt to cash in on the success of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" was "Batman Beyond." Set in the far future, an elderly Bruce Wayne mentors the new Batman — teenager Terry McGinnis — in cyberpunk Neo Gotham.
The late Kevin Conroy reprised his role as Bruce while Terry was voiced by Will Friedle. At the time, Friedle was best known for his role in the sitcom "Boy Meets World." However, "Batman Beyond" shaped his career trajectory. Instead of remaining a sitcom actor, Friedle became mostly a voice actor in action cartoons.
Among his later roles include Ron Stoppable on "Kim Possible," the Blue Beetle in "Batman: The Brave and the Bold," and Bumblebee in "Transformers: Prime." As a nod to Friedle's past role, "Kim Possible" even included a...

One of the most exciting parts about Matt Reeves' take on "The Batman" was that it explicitly showed Bruce Wayne being extra caring around children. He wants to comfort the son of the murdered mayor, he cares about that kid thinking of him as a scary monster, and decides to change his ways from being vengeance personified to more of a symbol for the people of Gotham City. "The Batman" focused on that kid enough times to make the audience theorize heavily that the child was going to turn out to be Robin, the Boy Wonder.
Likewise, when James Gunn and Peter Safran announced their plans for the new DC universe and revealed yet another take on the Caped Crusader, what made it the most exciting announcement was the news that "The Brave and the Bold" would also introduce Damian Wayne to the DC Universe.

If ever there were a dividing line between playing in the respective sandboxes for Marvel and DC, those lines have now completely blurred. While fans tend to circle their wagons and maintain that a rivalry exists between the two major superhero studios, the reality is a little more nuanced than that. Though they obviously remain competitors in the same blockbuster space, James Gunn emphatically proved that there's nothing stopping creatives from jumping from one side of the aisle to the other. His specific circumstances would obviously be hard to replicate — it's been a roller coaster ride to go from being fired from "Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 3" years ago, to defecting to DC with "The Suicide Squad," to being hired back to Marvel as a mea culpa, and then accepting his current position as co-chairman and co-ceo of DC Studios. But after paving the way, some more high-profile names might...

As the old adage goes, a hero is only as good as their villain. In Batman's case, he's one of the greatest superheroes of all time, thanks in no small part to his arch-nemesis, the Joker. There aren't many classic Batman tales where the Clown Prince of Crime doesn't factor in some way. He's an astonishing character, depicted in various forms on the big and small screen. Who can forget Jack Nicholson's portrayal in 1989's "Batman," directed by Tim Burton? Or Cesar Romano's campy take in the classic "Batman" TV series starring Adam West and Burt Ward? Heck, Heath Ledger and Joaquin Phoenix won Academy Awards for donning white makeup and the iconic purple suit in Christopher Nolan's "The Dark Knight" and Todd Phillips' "Joker." There's no end to Joker's madness, and seeing the different iterations is always fascinating.
Perhaps the most memorable depiction of Joker comes from Mark Hamill,...

James Gunn has issued a fierce riposte to someone who acccused him of “lying” to fans on Twitter,
The recently appointed co-chair and co-ceo of DC Studios has had a tumultuous time in his new role so far, attracting some criticism for the new direction of the Dceu.

Ever since James Gunn revealed the details of his upcoming DC slate, folks have been trying to figure out which actors could potentially be a part of the new DC Universe. Given that The Flash is being touted as one of the greatest superhero movies ever, some are wondering if perhaps Michael Keaton, who returns as Bruce Wayne/ Batman, will take over as DC’s “new” Caped Crusader in Batman: The Brave and the Bold, which is supposed to introduce Damian Wayne as the first, true, big screen Robin since Chris O’Donnell. At one point, there was even a rumour that Gunn, in a crazy out-of-left-field choice, might recruit George Clooney, as he infamously played the character in the reviled Batman and Robin. Gunn himself shot down both rumors on Twitter, claiming George Clooney will “absolutely not” be playing Batman and that they’ll be hiring a “new actor.”

"Resident Alien" star Alan Tudyk has had a number of memorable roles throughout his career. In terms of movies, long-time fans look back fondly on the parts he played in "Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story," "A Knight's Tale," and "Tucker & Dale vs Evil." He even had that memorable guest spot on an episode of "Frasier" as the new owner of Kacl that Dr. Crane takes under his wing. Although, his most beloved role to date is probably still the fun-loving pilot Hoban "Wash" Washburne from Joss Whedon's "Firefly" and its feature film sequel "Serenity."

Showcase is likely the series that comes to mind when one thinks of Silver Age DC Comics anthologies, but The Brave and the Bold may have an even greater legacy. Sure, the former introduced some of the most important Silver Age heroes, including Barry Allen as the Flash and Hal Jordan as Green Lantern. But The Brave and the Bold changed comics forever with the introduction of the Justice League of America in its 28th issue. Not only did the Jla become DC’s premier superhero team but its success prompted Atlas Comics publisher Martin Goodman to tell his editor Stan Lee to give superheroes a shot, leading to the creation of the Fantastic Four and the Marvel Universe.
So it’s no small thing that DC Comics plans to bring The Brave and the Bold back as part of its Dawn of DC storytelling initiative next year. Spinning out...

Matt Groening's and David X. Cohen's animated sci-fi comedy series debuted just in time for the end of the millennium — on March 28, 1999. It ran for four seasons before its cancelation by Fox in 2003. That was meant to be the last word on "Futurama." Farewell, friend.
After five years of wound-licking and brainstorming, "Futurama" returned in 2008 with four feature length, straight-to-video movies, each one constructed like a four-part mega-episode. Those movies were meant to be the final hurrah for "Futurama." It was a good run, compadre. Vaya con Dios.
But, wouldn't you know it, Comedy Central saw some potential in resurrecting a recognizable cult property and began airing new seasons of "Futurama" in 2011. The show was granted three additional full seasons on Comedy Central before being once again canning the show and finally letting it go in 2013. It was a nice 14 years of life. Good night, sweet "Futurama." And...

For many observers, the sudden shelving of the nearly-completed Batgirl movie was the harbinger of a crisis at HBO Max. With the long-running Arrowverse coming to an end as The Flash completes its ninth and final season, that film seemed like a pariah, a sign that some shows will live, some shows will die, and nothing will be the same. But early reports indicate that most current series and some in production are still going forward.
Chief among these is Green Lantern, the ambitious show about three generations of space cops. Created by Arrowverse architects Greg Berlanti and Marc Guggenheim and The Lego Batman Movie writer Seth Grahame-Smith, Green Lantern demanded a budget to rival those of HBO’s prestige programs, such as Game of Thrones. With such high costs, Green Lantern seemed exactly like the type of show new Warner Brothers CEO David Zaslav wants to eliminate as he...

Marvel's roster of animated series has never had the same cachet enjoyed by DC. "Batman: The Animated Series" set the standard for animated superhero shows produced in the United States. "Justice League: The Animated Series" cranked up the complexity in story and action. "Teen Titans" successfully integrated anime influence into its world, as did "The Batman." Not to mention "Batman: The Brave and the Bold," which embraces the absurdity of early comics to great effect. What can Marvel offer by comparison? "X-Men: The Animated Series" was ambitious in its attempts to adapt the tangled soap operatics of the comics. 1967's "Spider-Man" adaptation has some...

In a viral clip currently making the rounds on Twitter, young movie critic Danny Slaski offers a frank review of 1992’s Batman Returns: “It was very violent, it was a total attack against kids.”
Complaints about media violence are nothing new. But Slaski’s charges may carry greater weight precisely because of who he is. The attack comes not from a religious organization or a parents group looking to protect the innocence of youngsters, but rather from an actual kid.
The video circulated by the Found Footage Fest Twitter account finds Slaski sharing his review on the talk show A Closer Look. “Everything that kids love was used against them,” Slaski says of the Tim Burton-directed sequel to 1989’s blockbuster Batman. He specifically points out the film’s use of imagery that children often find appealing, such as clowns, presents, and a “duckie boat” used by the villainous...
