Marvel hasn't been having the best time of late and the shaky attempt to recapture lightning in a bottle that was "Thor: Love and Thunder" is a good example. Whereas its predecessor, "Thor: Ragnarok," saw star Chris Hemsworth leaning into his comedic sensibilities to great effect, even Hemsworth himself agreed that "Love and Thunder" was just too silly. But when the God of Thunder made his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut all the way back in 2011, the opposite was true.
Whereas "Iron Man," the film that changed Hollywood forever by kicking off the massively popular interconnected universe, was led by Robert Downey Jr. and his magnetic charisma, 2011's "Thor" was a darker affair that embraced the character's origins and delivered what was essentially a fantasy adventure with relative unknowns in the lead roles of Thor and Loki. In the late-aughts, Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston did not enjoy the superstar status they do today,...

It didn’t take long for the shorts programme that is part of the Singapore International Film Festival’s Singapore Panorama strand at the National Museum of Singapore on Nov. 27 to sell out. That is because the Singaporean audience is well aware that the best and brightest of filmmaking talent from the country cut their teeth in the format.
The programming, as always, is diverse. AFI Directing Workshop for Women graduate Tan Siyou’s “Hello Ahma” follows an eight-year-old who must adjust to a new life in America. The death of her beloved grandmother in Singapore throws into sharp relief truths about life, death and cultural dislocation. The film premiered at Toronto, where it was in the running for the Short Cuts award. Tan’s previous short “2200 Volts” played at Sgiff in 2017.

We asked Den Of Geek’s writers to recommend brilliant comedy shows that deserve to have more of a fuss made about them. Here they are...
Banging a drum about stuff we love is more or less our remit on Den Of Geek - hence what many readers have started referring to as the ‘inexplicably regular' appearance of Statham, squirrels and Harold Bishop from Neighbours on these pages.
To that end then, we asked our writers which comedy shows (past and present, UK or otherwise, on TV, radio, or online…) deserved more praise, and here are the ones they chose. You might already like them too, or you might discover something new to dig out and enjoy. That’s the fun of it.
Please note that this list isn’t ranked in any order, nor is it exhaustive. It’s compiled from the opinions of a group of different people,...

Adam Levine:
The “Harder to Breathe” crooner is the reigning Sexiest Man Alive according to People magazine. Then there’s his tattooed, chiseled form and smooth vocal style that won the heart of fiancé Behati Prinsloo. Adam showed his softer side when he paid a visit to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia earlier this year, and did we mention he’s got a whole new fragrance line?!
Liam Hemsworth:
Sure, he may have broken Miley Cyrus’ heart, but don’t hold that against Liam Hemsworth. The handsome Australian heartthrob is one of the stars of “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire,” aka, the hottest movie in theaters right now. Hemsworth’s impressive body of...

"Texas Chainsaw 3D" is 2013's inaugural sequel in a year chock full of them (29 in all). With this much franchise volume in one year, it's good to keep some perspective in terms of which series we're primed for ... and which ones shouldn't have had a first movie to begin with.
From the bad to the rad, here's our rundown of all the follow-ups fans have been clamoring for — or haven't, as the case may be. Prioritize your sequel viewing, people.
29. 'The Smurfs 2' (July 31)
The first "Smurfs" was a true-blue atrocity, taking Peyo's beloved children's characters and having them skateboard and rap their way through Fao Schwartz. Expect even more lowest common denominator-ing and product placement as Neil Patrick Harris and our heroes smurf around Paris searching for a kidnapped Smurfette ... and their agent so they can fire him.
28. 'The Haunting in Connecticut 2: Ghosts of Georgia'...

With "Cabin in the Woods" racking up great reviews, the eagerly anticipated "Avengers" poised to open in a few weeks and the buzzed-about "Snow White and the Huntsman" due this summer, "Thor" star Chris Hemsworth is suddenly everywhere these days. However, while this is shaping up to be his biggest year yet, you can't blame the Aussie actor for experiencing a bit of déja vu: Two of his 2012 releases -- including the long-delayed "Red Dawn" -- were actually filmed years ago. "It's like a Benjamin Button experience for me. I'll get younger as time goes on and the films come out," he joked to Moviefone at the "Avengers" junket. "I shot 'Red Dawn' four years ago. It was caught in the same boat as 'Cabin in the Woods.' MGM went bankrupt and both those movies were put on hold. They've now been picked up by different studios and 'Red...

As 2010 draws to a close and the year’s films are placed into Top Tens and Best Of lists, it’s always good to take an alternative perspective on a year in cinema.
To this end HeyUGuys presents for your edification our movie awards – The Truffles. We asked our writers to sift through the movie mayhem of the past twelve months and come up with the awards they would want to see handed out.
We posted Part 1 of The Truffles last Friday and today we are pleased to present Part 2 of the HeyUGuys movie awards – The Truffles.

The most degrading film of 2010: The Tooth Fairy
Please tell me what The Rock was smoking when he decided to say yes to this film. The Rock becoming the Tooth Fairy is almost as bad as Vin Diesel becoming the Pacifier. Not much more to say than way to degrade your image.
