I'm going through everything Steven Seagal ever made as somewhat of a challenge as I do enjoy the odd movie or two he's in. Usually he gets the blame for being why this episode was so bad but this episode has aged terribly. I'm going to go over bits and pieces of each without writing 3 pages. I respect a lot of the actors in this and a lot of them had successful careers afterwards without naming favorites but I think the big issue is the show just seemed to have writers block and we'll see why. I really hope there are much funnier episodes out there as I grew up watching Mad TV. I know how dare I. They claimed that Steven didn't want to do anything. Yet the scenes he was not in with maybe two exceptions the entire show were as unfunny if not worst as the rest of the show. Hans and Franz scene not even an 11 year old would find funny today, I wanted to skip that scene how annoying it was. Steven's version of Kung Fu Fighting originally by Carl Douglas I found Steven could barely play the guitar and felt it was unnecessary especially the way he hit the strings. He would go on to make two blues rock sort of albums later in his life but dare I say his performance I liked better than Michael Bolton's two. The Winston funeral home skit is the only saving grace so far. I'm sure it upset a lot of people and would to this day. Plus then it would be a lot more controversial than a generation of millennials who somehow get triggered yet grew up watching Family Guy, Futurama and South Park. The scene after with Rob Schneider was just dumb. All Rob did was be really playfully stupid with his words and I wish Steven just threw him off the balcony for that skit to be over. Did people really like that character? I skipped the celebrity tribute nonsense
Chris Rock skit may have been 10x funnier back then but I didn't enjoy it in the slightest. Of course he's making fun of people like he's portraying. Steven brought nothing funny to the scene dressing up as Andrew Dice Clay. Again though I'm looking at how awful the writers probably were for that scene. Oh great.. Michael Bolton's first song. Terrible. Some political nonsense I don't care for .. oh look it's Doug Wilson from Weeds
that rendition of All Along The Water Tower the Jimi Hendrix version was well done. Foxy Lady also by Jimi Hendrix later in the show I didn't care for. Maybe if it was done with a different amp or guitar. Steven is a big JImi Hendrix fan as we know. The Chris Farley skit was ok, it made more sense that Steven wasn't goofy or whatever. Rob was absolutely pointless in that scene. I don't think that scene could have been done funnier. I don't care how hard he is to work with that scene I'm blaming on the writers. They should have known how stupid the scene was. Oh great more Michael Bolton ... zzz
Next a boring environmental skit. Though the end is the only satisfying thing skipping through most of this awful show at the very end what Steven does. If you watched this without commercials at 1 hour and 5 seconds in you get to see a boom mic in.
