Officer Eve Whitfield: [after surviving a dangerous undercover job] The truth is, I was terrified. But I knew that if I had shown how really frightened I was...
Det. Sgt. Ed Brown: You hear that Chief? Fearless and dauntless - I'd say she's our girl.
Officer Eve Whitfield: What?
Robert T. Ironside: Well, Eve, it seems there's this night club owner who's hiring topless waitresses without a license. Now, if you'd care to volunteer...
Roger who's not all that bad looking and likes classical music ends up badly working over a number of his pre arranged dates that has Inspector Robert T. Ironside , Raymond Burr, get on the case.Using his partner blond pretty and gutsy Officer Eve Whitfield, Barbara Anderson, as bait to hook or catch Roger she in fact, or it seems like, fulls in love with him on their first date. Despite showing the both deranged and confused Roger the love and attention he never got from his former collage girlfriend he resorts to his crazy and dangerous personality when he soon finds out that Eve is an undercover policewoman trying to get the goods on him.
In what seems like armature hour on radio or TV the final scenes between Officer Whitfield and Roger Flynn is as corny and unconvincing as they come. Reading their lines as if they were, they probably did, reading cue cards you get the feeling that both Roger and Eve are either in a self induced trance or high on LSD or better yet having an out of body experience. It's then after Eve tries to get the gun that Roger is pointing at her out of his hands that then calvary, Inspector & Co, arrive just in the nick of time to save her from and bodily harm or mental anguish. Which by then those of us watching this hysterical "Ironside" episode had more then enough of both.
