- Two hillbilly types, Royko and Tanen, visit the VA Hospital to see Murdock. When they go to his room, Royko produces a sawed-off shotgun and blasts open the door. The two hillbillies take Murdock hostage and drive off in a pickup truck with an Indian companion. When Face hears of the kidnapping he learns that the Army has been alerted, and barely escapes when Colonel Decker arrives at the hospital. Royko, Tanen, and the Indian drive over 100 miles upstate and arrive at the house of their pappy, Darrow, a famous bounty hunter who sees Murdock as his ticket to the A-Team, the big score he's sought all his life. Darrow draws the A-Team north, but Murdock escapes and a three-way pursuit ensues between the A-Team, the bounty hunters, and Decker. Murdock finds shelter with a small-town veterinarian, Kelly Stevens, as he tries to contact the A-Team, but as the two wait, Murdock and Kelly begin falling in love, to the point that when Murdock eventually reunites with the A-Team, he has to phone Kelly to reassure her he's all right - and must lead the Team to rescue Kelly when Darrow and his boys take her hostage.—Michael Daly
- At the VA Hospital two hillbilly types, Royko and Tanen, ask the nurse at the front desk to see Murdock. She tells them his room number and they proceed. At the room, with Murdock playing a videogame, Royko unsheaths a sawed-off shotgun and blasts open the door; he and Tanen grab Murdock and make off with him in a truck accompanied by an Indian friend of theirs.
Face, after hearing of the kidnapping, questions the nurse in his guise of a doctor. When the nurse mentions calling the Army, Face excuses himself and tries to hurry out, but at the elevator is Colonel Decker, Captain Crane, and several MPs. Face flees into the hospital but sneaks out hidden in a laundry cart as Decker and Crane comb the building.
Face debriefs Hannibal at his trailer on an Aquamanic movie shoot. Face wonders if Decker is using hillbillies to draw out the A-Team, but Hannibal rejects the notion since using unreliable surrogates like armed hillbillies isn't Decker's style. Knowing the kidnappers will contact the team, they have to scramble to their van since Murdock only knows the van's mobile phone number.
In the northern rural hills of California Royko and Tanen arrive at their house, with Tanen ready to kill the endlessly babbling Murdock (whose chatter is intended to cause some kind of distraction to open an opportunity to escape) before the two men's "pappy," a heavyset bounty hunter named Darrow, calms them down. Darrow knows that Murdock is key to finding the A-Team, and despite Murdock's continued babbling in denial, he is forced to phone the team. Given instructions to a bar & grille, Hannibal is driven there and gets more instructions from a pay phone, but B.A. has the phone tapped and after scamming a local operator, Face gets the number of Darrow's house.
Murdock, however, breaks out and is pursued by the bounty hunters, before Hannibal and the team arrive to the now-empty house. Decker and his troops are also in hot pursuit and a three-way chase ensues. In a brief firefight the team escapes but their phone aerial is shot off by Decker, forcing them to find a local radio station to take over and thus contact Murdcok.
Miles away Murdock arrives at a gas station, barely evading Darrow. When he phones Hannibal the connection is broken, so Murdock must hide, and he jumps into the back of a van at the station - a van owned by local vet Kelly Stevens. Kelly drives off but is stopped by Darrow's truck; when Royko opens the back door a large dog snaps at him and he hurriedly slams the door. Darrow calms everyone down and pointedly tells Kelly to scram, which she does, but miles further down she slows to a stop, pulls a gun out of her glove compartment, and finds Murdock, calmly petting the dog. Murdock puts his hands up, but tells right away that her gun is a toy. He charms her by pointing out how the gun is a toy, and to her question about what is going on sincerely tells her the truth.
At Kelly's office Murdock finds the local station, explaining that in Vietnam he was part of a mission where an officer outside Da Nang was seperated from his men and was contacted when the men broadcast information for him from a local AFR station. As the two talk, Murdock and Kelly find they have a chemistry between them, a chemistry that is becoming genuine love; when Murdock holds a mirror to her face and calls her pretty, she is embarassed, but moved by the love she can see in his eyes.
Hannibal and the others eventually find the local station and go through this very plan, but first create a diversion for Decker by blowing up some police cars and leading Decker off on a chase. After seeing Decker drawn away, the team finally contacts Murdock. Kelly offers to drive Murdock to the rendezvous point but Murdock doesn't want her to be arrested for aiding and abetting; the two say goodbye, but clearly don't want to leave each other.
Decker, meanwhile, hears the station and storms it, but tape of Face's stint as a DJ has been prepared and the team thus escapes. Murdock, though, wants to contact Kelly one more time, but when he phones her, Darrow answers, as he and his boys have taken Kelly hostage. Murdock is horrified and furious, vowing to destroy Darrow if he harms Kelly and terrified that she'll be harmed before the team can rescue her.
