dark and dramatic

Pete is a really well made British film. The music fits incredibly well and suits the mood of whats happening on screen. There are a lot of times where you sympathise with Pete and a lot of the times where you're afraid of the mother. I have to say that the ending wasn't what I expected and was used really well. It's amazing how powerful silence can be. Pete doesn't speak a word and yet he had such an impact on me. This was edited really well and has great vision. There was one time I thought that the anger of the Mother grew to quick for human, but the rest of the film made up for that. I really recommend this film to anyone. Great job guys! Really looking forward to your next films.

Sad, unsettling and brilliant

Tony Hailstone's début is a testament to what can be achieved in a low-budget indie short film. It's a grim, grainy black and white rendering of a sad and horrific story of child abuse and tragedy. With no significant dialogue it tells the tale through excellent acting and masterful minimalism.

Non-British natives will struggle with the Birmingham accents but that doesn't matter.

The final twist beats The Sixth Sense at its own game.

Not available commercially, this film has been distributed under a GPL Public Licence and is available on You Tube.

I played the role of Craig in this 2003 movie,

Tony Hailstone the director had a real clarity of vision which reflected in his approach to the subject matter which if you've watched the movie is a often dark and contains difficult subject matter With no significant dialogue it tells the tale through excellent acting from James (Pete) and Susan (James film mother) and masterful minimalism.

Does the ending work, well there is a twist but we wont give that away.

The movie was filmed at various locations across the Midlands UK the bridge scene was set in Bridgnorth Shropshire, Pete's home was located in the Small Heath area of Birmingham.

Although 'Pete is not available commercially, it has been distributed under a GPL Public Licence and is available on You Tube.
