Sex & Nudity
-
- Indy is shown bare-chested, being scrubbed down in a decontamination chamber.
- Indy and Marion hug and lean in to kiss but are interrupted.
Violence & Gore
-
- Indy punches Mac in the nose just as he promised.
- The opening scene of the movie involves a group of Russians dressed like Americans killing a group of American soldiers all of it is offscreen, but the next scene shows their dead bodies.
- A group of Russian Soldiers kill Ancient Temple Guards (offscreen, but the bodies are shown)
- Lots of punching and kicking literally....some characters are shown bloody after a fight (but survive just fine).
- Several scenes with knife and gun-play (but without almost any blood as a result of gun shots).
- Some ancient dead bodies are shown, one man was well preserved and when the wrapping comes off he disintegrates onscreen.
- Lots of jokes about dead bodies. In one scene Indy says "hold this" and throws a mummified corpse at his friend; a close up of the dead face is shown. This scene can be shocking in a 'jumpy' kind of way.
- Indy kills a man by forcing a blow dart back into his mouth. This is sudden, and rather disturbing.
- Mac is shot in the foot.
Profanity
-
- 1 use of "Shit", 1 use of "Bullshit", and 3 uses of "Son of a bitch". A few uses of 'Damn'
Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking
-
- Some alcohol drinking and smoking.
Frightening & Intense Scenes
-
- Indy and Marion sink in quicksand, but are rescued just in time.
- The tamest movie, and least frightening
- The scene with the ants will freak some people out.
- Several dead bodies are shown.
- Lots of skeletons, one is particularly scary.
- The opening scene in which guards are gunned down in cold blood may be upsetting and offensive.
- The death count isn't as much as the previous Indy films.
- A boat sails over three waterfalls, each one bigger than the previous one (the passengers are jostled and eventually are thrown out of the boat but are all OK).
Spoilers
Sex & Nudity
- Indy and Marion kiss briefly following their wedding ceremony.
- Mutt is revealed to be Indy's son as a result of his fling with Marion.
Violence & Gore
- An alien disintegrates Spalko.
- 50 deaths in total, some of which are disintegrated towards the climax.
- Some violent/creepy themes including Russians killing Americans, and disrupting mummified corpses to find an Alien Skull made entirely of Crystal.
- Some smaller children may not like the huge ants or the aliens, and the the lead villain is killed by the Aliens as she explodes onscreen.
- Dovchenko is killed by a huge swarm of ants several inches long. They swarm in to his open mouth as he screams. They carry him across the ground and suck him head-first into a massive ant hill, still screaming. The ant sequence lasts a couple of minutes and could be quite disturbing.
- Another Russian soldier (the one traveling with Spalko) is covered head to toe with giant red ant's in a brief shot, we are to assume he died.
Frightening & Intense Scenes
- The ending onscreen death is pretty sudden, though not gory, as the main villain disintegrates onscreen at the hands of a creepy-looking Alien.
- In a graveyard, we see walking skeletons, but it turns out to be natives. These natives attack Indy and Mutt. This scene can be frightening to some.
- The aliens can be frightening, and the entire opening sequence may be slightly disturbing. We see men incinerated in the blast of a rocket sled firing up.
