As Ryan Gosling took the mic for a special screening of his latest film “The Fall Guy,” the Oscar nominee was eager to salute the stunt community — in particular, to show off the record-breaking stunt that his double performed.
“There’s a gentleman who buckles me into a car — that’s Logan Holladay — for a stunt he’s about to do,” Gosling told the audience assembled at the Grove in Los Angeles on Wednesday night. “Then he goes on to do eight-and-a-half cannon rolls, which is a world record. And then he pulls me out of the car and pats me on the back for the stunt that he just did.”
That’s what makes “The Fall Guy” unique, Gosling explained. “In any other movie, you wouldn’t know that. But in this movie, you do. The lack of recognition [of] the contribution that they make to cinema, to some of...

After premiering The Fall Guy at SXSW on Tuesday, Ryan Gosling made a quick trip to Los Angeles for a special screening on Wednesday night.
He was joined at The Grove by director David Leitch and co-stars Emily Blunt, Winston Duke, Hannah Waddingham and Stephanie Hsu, as they gave the crowd an early sneak peek of the film. The project stars Gosling as a stuntman who left the business and is drawn back in when the lead of a movie (played by Aaron Taylor-Johnson) that is directed by his ex (Blunt) goes missing.
“I was on a kid’s action TV show called Young Hercules, and I’ve basically had a stunt double my whole life,” Gosling said of his longtime relationship with stuntmen. “There’s this sort of accepted dynamic where they come on set, they do all the cool stuff, they risk everything, and then they disappear into...

Having gotten his start at age 12 on Disney Channel’s Mickey Mouse Club and starring in youth-oriented shows like Breaker High and Young Hercules, Ryan Gosling had a reputation as a squeaky-clean child star. Ryan Gosling has been preparing to play a Ken doll for 27 years ever since his 1995 screen debut. Don’t believe us? Well, the proof is in Gosling’s filmography…and his “Ken-ergy” quips.
“Finally, it’s happening. This has been coming my whole life,” Gosling joked to Variety of starring in “Barbie.”
Well, we’re opting to take those words quite literally. Two Academy Award nominations later, and Gosling is finally getting his chance to bare his chiseled abs and knockoff Calvin Klein briefs for Oscar-nominated Greta Gerwig’s “Barbie” epic, in theaters July 2023.
Sure, it may seem that Gosling’s darker roles may not totally fit in the Mattel-produced Barbie Dream World, but every step in Gosling’s fated path proves he’s been Ken for a long time coming. It is all about Ken-presentation, after all.
“I felt like I was seeing myself. I felt seen,” Gosling added.

It was a time of myth and legend. A time of ancient gods. It was the ‘90s and some of the biggest shows on TV were Hercules: The Legendary Journeys, starring Kevin Sorbo, and its spinoff Xena: Warrior Princess, starring Lucy Lawless. Following the exploits of heroes loosely inspired by Greco-Roman mythology, both series ran for six seasons in syndication and were so popular that other companies in the entertainment industry were looking to cash in.
One of them was Saban Entertainment, most famous for creating the mega hit Power Rangers. According to longtime Saban Entertainment producer Robert Hughes, who spoke to this author in 2013 about his time working at Saban, the company was intrigued by the idea of doing a “juvenile version” of Hercules and Xena. The hope was that a series could be developed that was different enough but strongly reminiscent of those shows. The problem was that...

Ryan Gosling has had a long career that stretches back to 1993 when he was only 12 and joined the cast of "The Mickey Mouse Club" alongside Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, and Justin Timberlake. From 1998 to1999, he starred in the television series "Young Hercules." After this, Gosling gradually started transitioning to Hollywood movies, but apart from the 2004 hit romance movie, "The Notebook," he mostly stuck to indies.
With the double whammies of the critically acclaimed hits "Drive" and Crazy Stupid Love," 2011 was Gosling's breakout year. He received his second best actor Oscar nomination for the charming musical "La La Land" in 2016. In 2018, after the...

I'm not gonna lie: I am totally obsessed with Ryan Gosling. But then again, who isn't? In fact, I still remember the first time I ever saw him on screen: I was 6 years old, and he was playing a young Hercules in, well, a TV show called Young Hercules. While I may have obsessed over other stars (*cough* Zac Efron in Summerland *cough*), I quickly rediscovered my love for Ryan when I randomly rented out The Notebook at my local video rental store.
Since then, I've closely been following his career, and saying that I'm excited to see him go to the Moon in First Man would be an understatement. Not only has the biopic already been generating a ton of buzz, it's also meant that Ryan has been making hot appearance after hot appearance in order to further promote the movie. So, in case you're having a bad day,...

Ryan Gosling traveled to New Zealand in 1998 to film the kids series “Young Hercules,” in which he played the titular son of Zeus during his warrior training. Shortly afterwards, Gosling decided to move from TV to film and take on more adult roles.
Child actors sometimes have a hard time transitioning to a successful adult career, but Gosling made the jump thanks to his performance in “Remember The Titans.” His previous TV work helped him pick up the role in Disney’s family movie, while the film’s message on race helped him prove that he could handle more thematically heavy work.
In 2001, Gosling burst onto the independent film scene with “The Believer,” in which he played a Jewish neo-Nazi who struggles with self-hatred over his heritage. Critics praised Gosling for his thought-provoking portrayal of the film’s almost paradoxical main character.

Oscar nominee Ryan Gosling’s career trajectory doesn’t resemble that of other actors—unless you count his “Mickey Mouse Club” co-stars Keri Russell, Justin Timberlake, and Britney Spears, of course. That time Ryan Gosling played a young Kevin Sorbo Young Hercules: Here's a weird bit of trivia. The '90s TV adventure show Hercules: The Legendary Journeys ran for six seasons and had a total of 111 episodes. Its spin-off prequel show, Young Hercules starring a teenage Ryan Gosling, only ran for one season, but it had a whopping 50 episodes. That's pretty absurd, right? So hey, if you're looking for a great, totally random gift for the Gosling fan in your life, we're going to go ahead and guess they don't own all 50 episodes of his Fox Kids Network 1998 classic. Krypton, Gotham, Better Call Saul, The Walking Dead spin-off. Is there no end to TV's thirst for commissioning prequels?
With rumours arriving that The Walking Dead spin-off may be a prequel, hot on the heels of the news that Syfy is pursuing a series about Superman's grandfather, titled Krypton, there are officially no more jokes. Anything you might say about making a comic book series set some ridiculous amount of time before the real story starts happening, can and will be seriously considered as a pitch by some network, somewhere.
A Newsroom-style series about The Daily Planet before Clark Kent started working there? A psychological procedural featuring Dr. Harleen Quinzel but no Joker? A jungle-set adventure series about Gorilla Grodd's granddad? We could keep going until the phone rings and someone makes us an offer for a pilot, but that would be an unnecessary amount of pre-amble before getting to the point,...

Ryan Gosling wasn’t always as suave and put together as he is these days. The Notebook star and new dad has come a long way since his days as Justin Timberlake‘s Bff on the Mickey Mouse Club. Throughout his adolescence in the late ’90s, it was obvious that Gosling was a heartthrob in the making — look no further than Young Hercules for proof. Even in the early ’00s when he was spiking (and dying) his hair, taking moody indie role after moody indie role, and dating Sandra Bullock, RyGo managed to be entirely adorable. Ryan Gosling turns 34 today – and what better way to celebrate the new dad than time traveling back to 1998 for our very first interview with the Hollywood heartthrob as he trained for his lead role in the TV series, Young Hercules.
While he's been busy melting (and breaking) hearts in recent years, 18-year-old Ryan (apparently) didn't Always have his pick of the ladies. When asked how he'll react when girls start to chase after him, Ryan responded, "I’ll take 'em! Anyone who want to go out with me can come out with me. I'm not picky!"

Oh, and not to mention – he tries to pick up our Et director!
No dice! Little did he know he would become one of the most sought after men in Hollywood.
Check out this video to see 18-year-old Ryan getting adorably shot down.

With Ryan Gosling's 34th birthday on Nov. 12, we're looking back on his time in the Hollywood spotlight. He's been winning hearts and weakening knees for two decades, charming fans on screen and off with his witty one-liners and swoon-worthy smirk. Back in the early '90s, he captured the crowd's attention at a talent show before bringing his smooth moves to The Mickey Mouse Club. From there, Ryan became a teen heartthrob, a romantic leading man, and a fan favorite so lovable that people actually petitioned for him to be People's 2011 Sexiest Man Alive. Most recently, Ryan became a dad. Actually, let's rephrase that - Ryan is officially a hot dad. In honor of his approaching birthday, go all the way back to Ryan's adorable days on the Disney channel to see his heartthrob evolution from adorable crooner to Hollywood's hottest Dilf. Source: Getty/Valery Hache/Afp He had the moves early on.

Removing the sentimental nostalgia connected with the classics (Aladdin, The Little Mermaid, The Lion King; pick your poison) is nearly impossible, and when you do manage to watch these movies objectively, the results can be disappointing. But on the occasion of the latest muscle-driven, super-veiny adaptation of Hercules, I am supremely, objectively confident that I'd rather be watching a sequel to the 1997 Disney film — the Hercules with the tiny head atop a giant neck, the maybe-mullet, and the pronounced chin that could only be drawn by a team of animators. Despite all the adaptations and all the hunky Greek heroes we’ve amassed over the years (yes, I’m aware that Ryan Gosling once played Young Hercules), there will only ever be one man I think of as Hercules. That man is ... Tate Donovan. (Well, his voice, anyway.) The animated version not only happens to be my favorite Hercules adaptation,...

Spin-offs have been a part of television since the very beginning. These include not just those series that branched off from popular shows focusing on a favorite supporting character but also those that continued following the leads. The latter could be thought of as TV show sequels, like Archie Bunker’s Place. Prequels, however, have not been as big a part of television tradition. There were Saturday morning cartoons offering origins of live-action TV characters like Alf and the Muppets, as well as some jumping onto the “__ Babies” concept for classic animated series like Scooby-Doo and The Flintstones. Around the same time, ’80s drama Dallas got a legitimate prequel, but it was in the form of a TV movie. Outside of shows that were prequels to movies — a current trend in and of itself that has its roots in series like Freddy’s Nightmares (some of its episodes, anyway) and Young Indiana Jones Chronicles — the earliest American...

In homage to the upcoming "Hercules," movies.com has unearthed a clip featuring a very young Ryan Gosling starring as "Young Hercules" back in the late 1990s. In this funny clip, he gets a wedgie! Stars will definitely do anything to pay their dues including reciting horrible lines. Still, this one is campy and cheesy and just right! The Gos has come a long way!

Before he was making men wear leather jackets they have no business wearing, and women wish their men could just be him instead, and men wishing they could also just be him instead, Ryan Gosling was a fresh-faced kid who had graduated from the Mickey Mouse Club to appear in random episodes of Are You Afraid of the Dark?, Goosebumps and Kung Fu: The Legend Continues. But when he was 18 all his dreams came true and he finally landed his very own show. It was called Young Hercules, and it was a goofy prequel to the popular adult series Hercules: The Legendary Journeys. In it, Gosling played the man who would eventually grow up to become Kevin Sorbo. Yep, this kid obviously grew up to look exactly like this guy: The show only lasted one season, but since this was the '90s...

We don’t need an anniversary to remind us of why we love The Notebook. Ten years later it remains one of the most iconic love stories of the 21st century, cherished by pre-teen girls and celebrities alike. Back in 2004, though, studios and moviegoers weren’t as quick to anoint the Nicholas Sparks adaptation as a success.
Former Mickey Mouse Club and Young Hercules star Ryan Gosling was handpicked by director Nick Cassavetes to play passionate, lovestruck Noah, while newcomer Rachel McAdams arrived via an audition. “When I told [New Line Cinema] I wanted to hire Ryan for the lead, they kind of looked at me like I was out of my mind,” Cassavetes told VH1. “And we found Rachel through an audition process and she was wonderful. A lot of studios wouldn’t have had the courage to put two relatively unknown people in a movie like this. But they did and,...

Ryan Gosling, James Franco and Joseph Gordon-Levitt are the hottest men in Hollywood. So why aren't they sticking to the path of previous pin-ups? Nicholas Barber on a new wave of actor-directors
Read enough interviews with Hollywood film stars and two themes keep cropping up. Theme one is that the star in question is working on a screenplay. Theme two is that they hope to become a director. Perhaps we can all take some comfort from the knowledge that, however much power and influence these stars may have, the vast majority never finish that screenplay or direct that film.
A few stars do get around to directing when they've passed their acting peak (Robert De Niro, Tommy Lee Jones, Dustin Hoffman). A few manage the transition once they've established themselves as A-listers (George Clooney, Ralph Fiennes). And some (Ben Affleck) turn to directing in desperation, following several years of lurching...

Two new Hollywood adaptations of the Greek hero Hercules will be battling for box office supremacy in 2014 - Hercules: The Thracian Wars and Hercules: The Legend Begins.
Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson stars as the titular role in The Thracian Wars - out on July 25, 2014. After performing his legendary 12 labors, Hercules is asked by King of Thrace and his daughter to defeat a cruel warlord.
Meanwhile, Twilight's Kellan Lutz will play his own version of Hercules in The Legend Begins. Lutz's Hercules is exiled after falling in love with the Princess of Crete, who is set to marry his brother. The upcoming film is set for a March 2014 release in the Us, and will debut on August 8 in the UK.

This, the Ryan Gosling edition of Posterized, has the cleanest trajectory of any I've done. It's like Young Hercules never put a foot wrong once he left minor teen success on tv for the movies at 20. It's just one steady climb up to superstardom: the showy debuts, the solidifying his rep years, the Oscar nominated and populist breakthroughs and then on to superstardom in 2011.

You know the old joke, .What do you get when you cross the eleventh Doctor and Young Hercules?. No? That.s because it.s not a joke, people. It.s real life news. According to Variety, Matt Smith, the eleventh and current incarnation of Britain.s cult hero Doctor Who, is coming to America and then heading to the underworld for How to Catch a Monster, the directorial debut from Ryan Gosling - who is producing the film under his Phantasma Films banner. The movie is described as a dark, surreal fantasy noir about a city slowly turning into an underworld, and is centered on a single mother and her two children, one of which finds a secret road that leads to an underwater town. A creepy fantasy that isn.t based on a book that also doesn.t have Tim Burton.s name anywhere near it? I.m totally...

Ryan Gosling is one of Hollywood's most popular leading men, but back in the day, he was swinging swords at imaginary monsters as the title character in "Young Hercules." However, Gosling isn't ashamed of the fantasy series that was a spinoff of the popular syndicated "Hercules: The Legendary Journeys," starring Kevin Sorbo as adult Hercules.
Entertainment reporter Jake Hamilton asked Gosling, "In your career, what is a performance you've given, something that you're insanely proud of, that you're so glad to have been a part of, that you feel maybe not enough people know about, that's not appreciated as well as it should be?"
Without missing a beat, Gosling replied, "My work on 'Young Hercules.'"
"I had a fake tan, leather pants," Gosling said. "I was fighting imaginary monsters -- they weren't really there, but I was acting like they were there. So ..."

Hey girls, it's a very special day.
That's right ladies, today, Nov. 12, is Ryan Gosling's 32 birthday and we're celebrating by taking a look back at some of his hottest red carpet moments.
The hunky star got his big break in the 1990s, when he landed a starring role on "The Mickey Mouse Club." After a few cameos in shows and movies like "Goosebumps," "Breaker High," "Young Hercules" and "Remeber The Titans," Gosling took Hollywood by storm -- and got all of us swooning -- when he played Noah opposite Rachel McAdams in "The Notebook."
"Look, this is crazy. I don't understand how I'm here, living this life, wearing this suit. I assume I'm going to pay for it someday ... And that's Ok," Gosling told GQ of his success last year, adding, "It seems fair to me. I just want to be ready for it. I want to meet it like a gentleman.

Josh Keaton appears to have a growing monopoly on the comic book voice acting industry. His extensive list of credits includes pulling double duty as The Flash and Aquaman in Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths, was the voice of Young Hercules in Disney's Hercules and is perhaps best known as the voice of Spider-Man, voicing everyone's favorite web slinger in the critically acclaimed The Spectacular Spider-Man animated series as well as in the popular video games Marvel vs. Capcom 3, Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions, and the upcoming Spider-Man: Edge of Time. Interestingly, Keaton didn’t have an extensive history with Green Lantern before landing the role. “With something like Spidey, I’ve had over the course of a couple decades a voice in my head when I read the comics. Ten years ago, I sat down with a young Ryan Gosling at his first-ever Toronto International Film Festival. Back then, the kid from Cornwall, Ontario, was best known as TV's Young Hercules and an ex-Mickey Mouse Club member (castmates included kids named Timberlake, Spears and Aguilera).
Unfortunately, all thoughts of his astonishing acting breakthrough — as an Orthodox Jew turned racist skinhead in The Believer — dissolved as, together, we watched the North Tower collapse on live TV in Gosling’s hotel room on the morning of September 11th.
A decade and an Oscar nom later, Gosling returned to the festival earlier this year with not one, but two movies — last month's Drive, a Nicolas Winding Refn drama about a Hollywood stunt driver trying to out-race a contract killer, and this month's George Clooney-directed political drama The Ides of March, in which Gosling plays a "dirty" young political fixer who...

Hollywood is bracing itself for another supernova of sexy, as "Drive's" Ryan Gosling and "Training Day's" Eva Mendes were caught canoodling this weekend at Disneyland in Anaheim.
The two aesthetically pleasing thespians will star in the upcoming "The Place Beyond the Pines," but in the meantime, they spent the weekend waiting in line for the new Ariel's Undersea Adventure just like the rest of us.
According to People magazine, the two were spotted holding hands. This, of course, could be an attempt at establishing a buddy system in a crowded, dangerous place such a Disneyland. But we choose to believe it's because they are madly in love and already contemplating 80 children.
Besides, who could resist Young Hercules?...

Say what you will about Ryan Gosling — I usually say things like, “Oooh, handsome. So very, very handsome” — but you’ve got to give the guy credit: He sure knows how to make for a memorable talk show appearance. The actor spent the past week-and-a-half making the rounds on the gab fest circuit to promote his latest flick, the near-perfect romantic comedy Crazy, Stupid, Love, which opens next Friday. And while the movie doesn’t need to sell us (they had us at “Photoshopped” abs) Gosling certainly did his duty to pitch the movie to the masses.

Those of you who have been following the development of Peter Jackson's The Hobbit - the long-awaited prequel to the Lord of the Rings trilogy - were probably paying attention last October when New Line Cinema announced a preliminary cast for the film, including Martin Freeman as Bilbo Baggins, 'Being Human' actor Aidan Turner as the dwarf Kili and a whole host of faces returning from the first three films, including Andy Serkis, Elijah Wood and Ian McKellen.

Armie Hammer, the handsome gentleman who played one and a half Winklevoss twins in The Social Network, is reportedly “in talks” to play the titular hero in Disney’s The Lone Ranger alongside Johnny Depp (as Tonto).
Discussions with Hammer and his people are still in the early stages, but the film won’t start shooting until next year due to Depp’s loaded schedule. #13 – “Eagle vs. Shark” (2007)
Directed by Taika Waititi
At first glance the Antipodean comedy “Eagle vs. Shark” appears very much cut from the same comedic cloth as Jared Hess’ 2004 ode to geekdom “Napoleon Dynamite” with its socially inept lead characters, quirky soundtrack and offbeat comic sensibilities. On closer inspection, however, Taika Waititi’s debut feature reveals itself to be something altogether different; a charming romantic comedy fuelled by a witty script, a great cast, a gorgeous soundtrack and a great deal of heart.
Fans of cult TV series “Flight of the Conchords” will already recognize lead actor Jemaine Clement who, as Jarrod, most closely resembles the inimitable Mr. Dynamite with his underdeveloped social skills, lack of sexual expertise and penchant for videogames, kung fu and dressing up as his favourite animal (“I almost came as a shark actually, but then I...
