Hollywood star Regina King was seen most recently in the film Shirley, a biopic on the trailblazing Black congresswoman Shirley Chisholm which hit theaters on March 15th, 2024. The release of the film and the promotions leading up to it resulted in the Oscar winner talking about the very painful death of her son Ian Alexander, who died 2 years ago due to suicide.

On a recent episode of "Hot Ones," actor Mark Rufflao was invited on to discuss his career while chocking down incredibly spicy hot wings. Sean Evans, the show's host, read a film synopsis to Ruffalo and asked if he could identify the title. Evans read a synopsis for a 1994 film called "Mirror Mirror II: Raven Dance," a straight-to-video horror film put out by the beloved B-movie studio Image Entertainment. Ruffalo, of course, could indeed identify the movie. "That's 'Mirror Mirror,'" he said. "That was probably my first movie." Indeed it was.
Ruffalo pointed out that there was "Mirror, Mirror" and then there was "Mirror Mirror II: Raven Dance," which had a "Penthouse pornstar" as the lead actress and Billy Drago as the male lead. He noted that he played "the series actor sidekick." He joked that he had established a brand with the "Mirror Mirror" movies, sarcastically imitating...

It’s a deceptively big month on Prime Video in September! To kick things off, The Wheel of Time will be back for a second season on the service, while a live-action The Boys spinoff series called Gen V will be capping off the original series content later in the month.
But there are also some interesting new projects lined up between those two biggies. On September 15, Jenna Coleman and Oliver Jackson-Cohen star in what is sure to be a delicious tale of revenge. Wilderness, based on B.E. Jones’ novel of the same name, stars Coleman as a heartbroken wife who discovers her husband has been cheating on her after she gives up her whole life to move over to America with him and support his career.

As more and more stars continue to expose stories of alleged sexual harassment and abuse in Hollywood in the wake of the Harvey Weinstein scandal, Corey Feldman is speaking out again about the alleged abuse he suffered as a child actor — abuses he claims are part of a larger problem of pedophilia in Hollywood.
The 46-years-year-old actor, who has been outspoken for years about this topic, wrote a series of impassioned tweets on Thursday explaining that his reluctance to disclose the names of his or anyone else’s abusers comes from his desire to protect his family.

"Monogamy isn't realistic. Again!"
The first trailer for Trainwreck dropped today, comedian Amy Schumer's first turn in a big-screen starring role!
News: 12 Awesome Ladies Who Should Replace Jon Stewart As Host Of 'The Daily Show'
The movie stars Schumer as an uninhibited woman who struggles to maintain a monogamy-free lifestyle when her co-star, Bill Hader, enters the mix. Schumer wrote the film, and Judd Apatow, who is behind Bridesmaids, Girls, and a lot of your favorite comedies, is the director. Watch the trailer above.
An (unfair) early concern might be that the story seems somewhat predictable, but many moments from the trailer have given us high hopes for when the movie premieres!

Keira Knightley plays a folky songbird in this New York set music biz yarn, but it falls well short of any plausibility.
• Review of The Railway Man
• Review of Labor Day
Or to put it another way: could a song end your life? Could just one number, performed weedily by Keira Knightley at the beginning of this romcom, cause your body to self-combust at the prospect of enduring 90-odd minutes of a movie obsessed with authenticity but as phoney as a Miley Cyrus dance routine? Thankfully, the answer to the question is no. But it could certainly get close.
This is the story of how a washed-up record exec finds his mojo by stumbling drunkenly on a rare talent whose songs speak of love and heartache. You might think you've heard such songs before, but you haven't. These songs are better. They're called things like Lost Star and have lines...

It is the case in this age of social media, television, Internet and an unremitting desire to make as much money as physically possible that it’s rare that a film doesn’t come to us with the billing that it will redefine cinema; push the boundaries of how we think and make us wet ourselves with excitement. 2012 has been a year rife with films just like this, be it one film trying to out superhero the other, another trying to out franchise the other or another reboot trying to make audiences cry more than others: we’ve had plenty of films with promises that aren’t fulfilled. Lucky for the disillusioned, Looper appeared as if from thin air to meet every expectation we were promised, and then some. Looper was pitched as an intelligent sci-fi that would stamp Rian Johnson into the minds of mainstream cinema goers, compete with...

Another week opened with us wondering if the little snippets from American Horror Story: Asylum that we call “teaser trailers” would continue unabated. Wonder no longer, as number 17 is here, and it is almost pretty. Almost pretty makes it somewhat eerie. Here’s a little American Horror Story: Asylum holiday viewing for our U.S. readers – for the rest of you, Happy Monday. The first is a TV spot that continues the theme of the opening credits spot we had for you on Friday, but this time explores a bit of what’s going on with each of the characters. Sorry kids, no teaser trailer today, at least not yet, but we are appeased because we have been given something that lasts longer – a TV spot! And this one’s particularly good, not only because it’s for American Horror Story: Asylum, but because we get to see the main cast, in character and in costume. It appears to be the opening credits, and now more than ever, We Can’T Wait.
And make sure you note the now-confirmed time, per the Ahsa Facebook page:
Meet the residents. Get Committed, Wednesday, October 17 at 10P only on FX.

Another interesting visual today, and no fooling, not scary. But that doesn’t mean that today’s new American Horror Story: Asylum teaser trailer is boring. It is, as one would expect, intriguing. Decide for yourself if it’s metaphorical or if all of these images of – do we call it food? – are trying to tell us something more direct.

Breathe easy, American Horror Story: Asylum fans, this one isn’t scary, just an interesting juxtaposition of visuals. Kind of artsy, like the rest, but without the Ewww or Eeek. I’m okay with this, as long as it’s only every now and then. Feast your eyes on Teaser Trailer #9 – “Taste”:

How absolutely wonderful is it that these American Horror Story: Asylum teaser trailers have turned into something daily upon which I rely? It’s a long wait until October, I hope they’re planning on keeping it up until then. I wonder; they say that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. I love the different results we’ve been getting every day; how about you?

American Horror Story: Asylum is liberally dishing out the weird and creepy in these teaser trailers, and the newest is no exception. Entitled “White Rose” for obvious reasons, as were “Blue Coat” and “Hydrobath”, this one adds a new element. Make sure to turn it up, and hold on.

Why Committed Movie Scientists may recommend the occasional staggering zombie horde.
As all horror fans will know, zombies have generally cut back on the pace in recent years. This is arguably a good thing. Zombie apocalypses are easier to digest when the undead are slow and steady, as the last remnants of humankind have a chance to consider their options and think about what it all means.
George A. Romero’s ghouls may have been staggering threats when he first unleashed Night of the Living Dead in the 60s, but, to the consternation of many purists Danny Boyle injected some pace in 28 Days Later. Boyle’s ‘infected’ humans vomited blood, looked pretty freaky in grainy digital footage and had found their running shoes.
Zombies have been firmly back in vogue since then, although comedy outings like Shaun of the Dead and Zombieland seem to have the most mileage at the moment.

Subject: Heather Graham, 41-year old American actress
Date of Assessment: June 8, 2011
Positive Buzzwords: Nudity, beauty, sleep
Negative Buzzwords: Romcom, limited appeal and talent
The Case: People like to talk about the so-called "downward trajectory" that Heather Graham's career has supposedly taken. Still, she's worked steadily since her first movie role in 1988's License to Drive (the one where both Coreys stuffed her in a car trunk), which she followed up with an acclaimed turn in Drugstore Cowboy and an adorable character, Annie Blackburn, on the second season of "Twin Peaks." Then, she toiled away in relative obscurity for nearly five years until she stunned audiences (or at least myself) as Jon Favreau's dance partner in the last act of Swingers and appeared alongside Robert Downey Jr. in Two Girls and a Guy. Then, Heather became the very naked Rollergirl in Boogie Nights, which was a pretty overrated movie...

People are too hard on Nicole Scherzinger. Sure, she sometimes engages in ill-advised extended metaphors about music videos and candy shops. But other times she perfectly articulates the way I’m feeling, such as in her quote in the headline. Why does this have to be a competition? Of course I understand why a group needs to get eliminated each week — that’s how competition shows work — but when every group is delivering such impressive performances every single week, NBC could just air a season of Sing-Off concert specials and I’d still tune in.
Seriously, everyone was on their game last night.

It’s been four years since Encore published its Top 20 Directors and Producers list, and we felt it was time to compile a new, more comprehensive list that included professionals working across all areas – film, television and Tvc production – as well as the leaders and decision-makers that determine the direction of the industry.
Instead of having a limited list of panellists, we consulted with the main agencies and organisations, and also asked our readers to nominate their candidates. We ended up with a list of more than 200 screen industry professionals, and deciding the final 50 was indeed a difficult task. Of course, some other very influential and successful people didn’t make the final cut, but there were only 50 spots and too many talented men and women!
We hope you’ll enjoy – or not, and if so, debate it passionately – the selection of what will become our annual Power 50 list.

Our Joel Schumacher retrospective arrives at one of his commercial highs and critical lows - it's the pretty woeful Batman Forever...
"Riddle me this, riddle me that, who's afraid of the big, black bat?" - The Riddler
The Recap
After back-to-back successes with the gritty Falling Down and the tense thriller The Client, Joel Schumacher's next project was slightly off the bat (sorry, we'll get our own taxi). Taking over the reins from Tim Burton, he was about to change the direction and tone of the series, as well as start a downward spiral that would lead to the end of the franchise and almost-certain death knell to any future Batman movies.
Following on directly from Batman Returns, the audience is flung straight into the action as soon as the movie starts with Batman (Val Kilmer) facing Harvey ‘Two-Face' Dent (Tommy Lee Jones), Gotham City's ex-city District Attorney, who,...
