Rock music is far from dead. Last year’s Grammy nominations proved that, with some of the leading acts in music being present in the rock categories. Alongside legends like The Rolling Stones and Metallica, the field was graced by the presence of Gen-z’s favorite artists, such as Boygenius, Arctic Monkeys and Olivia Rodrigo. So to find great rock music these days, you just have to pay attention. We are certainly paying attention this year, with a slew of buzzy releases already in the conversation to take home the gold come Grammy time.
One of the biggest stories in rock this season is the return of The Beatles with the single “Now and Then.” It’s unclear if the song will be competing in pop or in rock, but either way it’s for sure getting them a nomination. A music video made to their hit song “I’m...

Paramount+ has announced the June 18 premiere of Chopper Cops, an all-new docuseries that takes viewers into the cockpit of an elite Florida police team of helicopter pilots as they attack crime from the skies.
They’re just north of Disney World, but to the men and women of the Marion County Sheriff’s Department, the 1,600 square-mile area they patrol is no fantasy. Marion County’s highways, forests, and suburban neighborhoods are crime scenes for more than 7,000 felonies a year. But with a jurisdiction larger than the state of Rhode Island, ground units find it impossible to have eyes everywhere.
With 10 half-hour episodes, Chopper Cops showcases the Marion County Sheriff’s Department’s secret weapon: state-of-the-art helicopters manned by elite police pilots. Known as Air One, these chopper cops operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and are equipped with high-tech infrared cameras and augmented-reality mapping capabilities that allow police on...

CBS canceled a lot of popular shows this season. They canceled Blue Bloods, NCIS: Hawai’i, and CSI: Vegas. They also announced they will bring back S.W.A.T., but only for one more season. The reason the network execs gave was that they wanted to “freshen” things up and hope viewers would like the new shows replacing the beloved canceled series.
One way to do that is by adding in another franchise show, but this one will be very different from everything that came before. CSI: Miami is coming back in a new format.
CBS Bringing Back CSI: Miami As A Different Show
CBS has offered up some replacements for the departing shows, but it remains to be seen if fans care enough to buy into the new ones. For example, NCIS: Hawai’i is going away, but a show called NCIS: Origins is replacing it. For Blue Bloods, CBS is bringing in...

Details About Police 24/7 On The CW
A Reddit user posted about the new police series to an On Patrol subreddit. Generally, fans discuss various episodes of On Patrol on the forum and they will talk about officers they frequently see.
However, this post was about a new show called Police 24/7. It first aired on The CW on Monday night. It is a taped show, not live like On Patrol.

The show’s format is similar to Cops where viewers essentially get to take a ride along with police officers. Each season follows eight police departments. Unlike Cops, Police 24/7 episodes seem to air two to three months after being filmed.

The CW is focusing on airing inexpensive programming, so it seemed only a matter of time before the network tried its own version of shows like Cops and Live Pd. Will Police 24/7 draw enough viewers to be renewed for season two, or will it be cancelled instead? Stay tuned.
A law enforcement docu-series, the Police 24/7 TV show takes viewers along for the ride and follows police officers, on duty and off. The series delivers raw, unfiltered access into the world of sheriffs and police departments across the country as they serve and protect at all costs. You never know what to expect from drug busts to routine traffic stops, but these officers are ready 24/7 to keep their communities safe.

When reality TV burst onto the scene in the late '90s and early 2000s, network execs felt like they'd struck gold.
Here was a niche filled with cheap, easy-to-produce fare that rarely relied on big-name stars who would only demand more and more money if the series became a success.
The early seasons of Survivor and The Bachelor delivered ratings on par with the era's top scripted shows for a fraction of the price.
Of course, when Hollywood discovers that sort of recipe, it tends to cook up too much of a good thing.
And so, the reality TV craze quickly overtook the industry and began to dominate nightly programming -- first on the broadcast networks, then on the cable channels, and finally, on the streamers.
Now, of course, that greed for inexpensive content has resulted in an unsustainable situation in which too many shows are competing for too few viewers.

Vampire Weekend have returned with “Classical,” the latest slice of their forthcoming album Only God Was Above Us.
Built from a rustling acoustic guitar line and a cymbal-heavy drum beat from Chris Tomson, “Classical” is more vibrant and restless than Vampire Weekend’s prior singles. “Untrue, unkind, and unnatural/ How the cruel, with time, becomes classical,” Ezra Koenig sings in the pre-chorus, eventually landing on an anthemic, harmony-laden refrain where he asks “Which classical remains?” The song also features a daring, slightly dissonant bridge with a haywire sax solo courtesy of Henry Solomon.

The song also arrives with a music video directed by longtime collaborator Nick Harwood and featuring the band, Ray Suen, drum tech Josh Goldsmith, and A-list producer Ariel Rechtshaid. Throughout the green screen-heavy video, Vampire Weekend performs “Classical” amidst clips of classical European architecture — columns, gothic churches, statues, 800 year-old paintings, and even Stonehenge.

Vampire Weekend are officially back with the announcement of their new album, Only God Was Above Us, out April 5th via Columbia Records.
Marking Vampire Weekend’s first full-length in five years, Only God Was Above Us clocks in at 10 tracks. Inspired by 20th-century New York City, the album was recorded in Manhattan, Los Angeles, London, and Tokyo, with vocalist/guitarist Ezra Koenig sharing production duties with longtime collaborator Ariel Rechtshaid. It was mixed by Dave Fridmann and mastered by Emily Lazar.
Koenig penned the majority of the lyrics to Only God Was Above Us in 2019-2020, and spent the next five years with bandmates Chris Baio and Chris Tomson fleshing out the lyrical and melodic structures. The album is described in a press release as “direct yet complex, showing the band at once at its grittiest, and also at its most beautiful and melodic.”

Leslie Jones is disappointed by the near fight that occurred in the Senate on Tuesday, but not because anything Oklahoma Sen. Markwayne Mullin did. No — the comedian’s displeasure has to do with Bernie Sanders breaking things up.

Don’t look down. Don’t look down.
I’ve never been good with heights. And no one would accuse me of being a thrill-seeker. And yet, here I am, 12 stories above downtown Los Angeles — about to walk on air. It’s the afternoon before the kickoff of production on “The Amazing Race” Season 35, and the show’s producers are testing out one of the latest edition’s first challenges: Contestants will have to walk a tightrope between two wings of the famed Biltmore Hotel, high above Pershing Square.
The Biltmore is celebrating its 100th birthday this year; I just want to make it to 50. And yet, I have agreed to don a helmet and get harnessed up to try the stunt myself. Unlike the “Amazing Race” players, however, I’m not doing this to win a million dollars. Wait, why am I doing this?

When Mark Thompson was hired as CEO of The New York Times in 2012, he knew that he was facing skepticism from within the storied news organization, wary of the TV executive coming in with a mandate to transform its business.
“An outsider has many disadvantages, but one advantage is a ‘cold eye,’ ” Thompson recalled in a case study for the global consulting firm McKinsey & Co. in August 2020, shortly after his departure from the Times was announced. “In this case, I took the job because, besides all the problems and the difficulty of change in a legacy media organization, I thought there was also immense potential.”
Now, Thompson will bring that “cold eye” to CNN, where he was named chairman and CEO on Aug. 30. As with the Times, Thompson will find a storied news brand grappling with a declining legacy business, and without an obvious off-ramp to a digital future. “I...

What we now consider reality television began with MTV's The Real World, and throughout the '90s, until Survivor premiered, it served as the template. Besides Cops or the many Cops knockoffs that littered the nooks and crannies of cable and syndication, reality TV in the '90s was largely candid in nature, typified by The Real World, Taxicab Confessions, and Road Rules (which in the early seasons was just The Real World in an Rv). Out of this era came one of the most archetypal and memorable reality villains of all time: The Real World's David "Puck" Rainey.

For nearly four decades, the Big Three networks dominated television, with any attempts at a fourth competitor quickly trounced. However, on October 9, 1986, a fourth network launched and steadily gained affiliates by offering innovative programming, often appealing to a younger demographic.
Fox has been the most successful network beyond the Big Three, despite a somewhat shaky beginning. The network launched with a short-lived late night talk show initially hosted by Joan Rivers, “The Late Show.” Then, beginning in April 1987, Fox gradually rolled out original primetime programming, starting with Sunday night premieres of two shows whose concepts were new to regular network programming. “Married. . .with Children” brought raunch to the family sitcom genre, raising the ire of conservative watchdog groups to the point that demands were made for a boycott; ironically, this actually brought attention to the series, and it achieved a whole new level of success. “The Tracey Ullman Show” delivered...

Geraldo Rivera is set to leave The Five, Fox News’ afternoon panel show.
He revealed the news on social media, stating his last scheduled appearances would be on the June 29 and 30 shows. “It’s been a great run and I appreciate having had the opportunity,” Rivera wrote in part. “Being odd man out isn’t always easy. For the time being, I’m still Correspondent at Large.”
Also Wednesday, during an interview with The Associated Press, Rivera explained friction in front and behind the cameras on The Five led to his decision to quit the series. “There has been a growing tension that goes beyond editorial differences and personal annoyances and gripes. It’s not worth it to me,” he said.
The Five features a rotating cast of co-hosts from across Fox’s lineup, including Jesse Watters, Dana Perino, Greg Gutfeld and Jeanine Pirro, in freewheeling conversation about the issues of the day.

Tucker Carlson hasn’t left Fox Corporation quite yet.
The company’s Fox News Media unit has hours and hours of various specials and original programming the controversial anchor developed for the subscription-based streaming service Fox Nation, and doesn’t appear poised to take any of that content down.
The Carlson-created options currently available on the service are manifold. There is a program called “Let Them Eat Bugs!” that examines how “global leaders, movie stars and social media influencers are making a concerted push to force bugs into your diet, whether you like it or not.” A “Tucker Carlson Originals Christmas Special” is available for those interested. And Carlson’s last broadcast on Fox News Channel — from Friday, April 21 — is ready to for binge-viewing. There are also classic Carlson interviews to be found in “Tucker Carlson Tonight: The Vault.”

The Office is a revolutionary comedy that created a new model for how modern sitcoms could be done. Its mockumentary format had been done before, but it was perfected here, and many shows after tried to put their spin on its style. While many have failed to capture what made The Office great, a few mockumentary comedies have paved their own path without seeming like a knockoff.
John Krasinski as Jim Halpert, Rainn Wilson as Dwight Schrute, Steve Carell as Michael Scott | Trae Patton/NBC/NBCU Photo Bank Here are 5 comedy shows to watch if you love mockumentaries like ‘The Office’ Reno 911!
Reno 911! premiered before The Office, but it is a different type of mockumentary comedy. The show is a parody of cop documentary TV shows, specifically Cops, and follows the Reno sheriff’s department members in Nevada. It’s much cruder than The Office and contains profane and often politically incorrect humor.

Emerging from the rubble of two war-ending weapons of mass destruction as well as its own barbarism, Japan was reduced to its knees. With a cascade of constitutional changes at the hands of their occupiers, as well as the liberation of so-called “Sangokujin” whom Japan had spent the century systematically oppressing and obliterating, the people looked on in punishment as their country underwent rapid reformation once again. With Major League Wrestling making its debut tonight on Reelz, the ad-supported cable channel hopes to recreate the impossible. Launched in 2006 as Reelz Channel, then best known as home to Leonard Maltin’s “Maltin on Movies” and hosting the Visual Effects Society Awards, it went through many iterations — until recently, none terribly successful. A year ago, it ranked a dim 51 in cable primetime among its key demo for advertising, adults 25-54.

Survivor champ and The Challenge: USA winner Sarah Lacina called out Tony Vlachos for his real job as a police officer, eventually leading to one of the most successful alliances in franchise history, Cops-R-Us. During a recent interview, the Game Changers winner admitted production played a role in helping her discover Tony’s true identity.
Sarah Lacina reveals how producers helped her identify Tony Vlachos as a cop
Speaking to podcast Challenge Mania during a February 2023 appearance, Iowa-based investigator Sarah Lacina noticed Tony Vlachos during casting and felt he looked, dressed, and walked like a cop.
Additionally, Sarah recalled him repeatedly getting brought up in her interviews and realized producers “lit up” when she identified him as a police officer, clueing her in. When asked about using production as an edge in the game, the Iowa native noted she used her Cagayan experience with them to help her game in subsequent seasons.

A potential writers strike would be incredibly harmful for many in Hollywood, but there’s one sector of the entertainment industry that is quietly optimistic that it could lead to a boom for them: the unscripted television makers.

You can get visual whiplash while watching Matthieu Rytz’s documentary about the geopolitical, economic, social and ecological ramifications of mining the planet’s ocean floors for metals.
One minute, you think you’re watching an IMAX documentary about gorgeous creatures of the deep, with enough amazingly translucent jellyfish on display to satisfy any stoner’s need for optical stimuli. The next minute, there’s seemingly endless footage of discussions going on in corporate boardrooms, congressional hearings, investor meetings and cocktail parties, with the faces of many participants blurred out as if they were appearing on an episode of Cops.
Unfortunately, there’s more of the latter footage than the former, with the result that Deep Rising, receiving its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival, can be a frustratingly (and ironically, considering the subject matter) dry experience.

The last time Rami Malek played a real person on screen (in Bohemian Rhapsody), the results divided opinion but also won him an Oscar. So you can imagine why he might be tempted to do it again, and is now attached to the lead role in a new, untitled miniseries about Hollywood legend Buster Keaton.
Having The Batman's Matt Reeves as one of the main producers (and likely directors) is also an appeal, with the series being developed at the filmmaker's 6th & Idaho Productions.
Known for his deadpan expression, actor-director Keaton starred in such movies as The Playhouse, Cops, The Electric House, Sherlock Jr and The General.

The battle between Live Pd and On Patrol: Live producer Big Fish Entertainment and A&e Television Networks is heating up.
The Amazon/MGM-owned Big Fish has hit back at the lawsuit filed by the cable networks group in August, calling it “meritless” and laying out the reasons why in a motion to dismiss filing in the U.S. District Court Southern District of New York.
The crux of the issue is whether On Patrol: Live, which became a ratings success for Reelz, was a “clone” of Live Pd, which was canceled by A&e in June 2020 in the aftermath of George Floyd’s killing.
“In 2020, A&e decided to cancel the show, wrongly believing that the public’s interest in live police programs had waned. After A&e rebuffed Big Fish’s efforts to reboot Live Pd at A&e, Big Fish moved on and developed On Patrol: Live,...

Fox Nation, the subscription-based streaming side dish to Fox News Channel, is wrapping its best month of 2022 in what was already a good year. Compare that with CNN+, which lasted all of 32 days this spring.
In November 2018, Fox Nation launched to satiate the Fox News obsessive who (somehow) couldn’t get enough of Tucker Carlson, Sean Hannity, and the rest of the gang over on cable. It originally provided content a step or two beyond the news and opinion programming from the popular Fox News Channel personalities, and has since added the linear channel’s primetime shows on-demand, as well as original history, lifestyle, and travel programming — even Christmas movies.
It’s been quite the evolution, one perhaps best summed up by Fox CFO Steve Tomsic back in June 2021.
“So, Nation started as sort of an ancillary service or a supplementary service figure for the Fox News superfan,” Tomsic said at an investor conference.

In Thursday’s episode of “Law & Order: Organized Crime,” we learn more about what drives one of the squad’s newest members, Bobby Reyes, whose willingness to put himself in danger by going undercover in prison got him stabbed, but also got the information the squad needed.
Former “Arrow” regular Rick Gonzalez, who plays Reyes, told TheWrap why he loves playing the detective who’s been dubbed “the Invisible Man” for his undercover abilities.
“I was really intrigued by Bobby Reyes because to be honest, I have never really auditioned too much for characters like him. There’s a lot of mystery to him,” said Gonzalez, who also appeared as a guest star in a 1999 episode of “Svu” in which he was being interrogated by Elliot Stabler (Christopher Meloni). “It’s kind of weird and surreal to be back here, 20 some odd years later, but it’s very, very cool,...

Do you know when the first movie premiere in Hollywood history was held?
On Oct. 18. 1922 Sid Grauman opened his movie palace the Egyptian Theatre on Hollywood Blvd. with superstar Douglas Fairbank’s latest swashbuckler “Robin Hood.” The red carpet was rolled out for Fairbanks, his wife Mary Pickford and their good friend (and partner in United Artists) Charlie Chaplin. It cost 5 to attend the premiere. And the movie, which was the top box office draw, played there exclusively for several months. The Egyptian cost 800,000 to build and took 18 months to complete for Grauman and real estate developer Charles E. Toberman. It is currently being renovated by Netflix in cooperation with the American Cinematheque.
“Robin Hood,” directed by Allan Dwan, was one of the most expensive movies of the silent era, costing just under 1 million. The castle was the biggest set ever made for a silent movie. Some scenes feature over 1,200 extras.

Live Pd, or Cops 2.0, as many people may have referred to it as it was similar in concept and other aspects, was canceled on June 10th, 2020, in the wake of various protests surrounding the Black Lives Matter protests across the country fighting injustice. While Cops was canceled earlier for nearly similar reasons on Fox, A&e has had similar series, in concept, with Live Pd, its spinoff series Live Rescue, and the recently announced revival series of Live Pd, On Patrol: Live. Below, we’ve detailed Live Pd, the other related shows such as Cops and Live Rescue, as well
