In 1978, when the show covered Tom and Erica's honeymoon in Saint Croix, it was the first U.S. soap opera to take its cameras off of the U.S. mainland.
As of 2006, only one actress and one actor from the original cast remained on the show; Susan Lucci, who played Erica Kane, and Ray MacDonnell, who played hospital chief of staff Joe Martin.
Most 1970s episodes are lost.
In April 1995, the show was setting up a storyline in which one character planned to set off a bomb at the wedding of two other characters. When the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma was destroyed by a bomb on April 19, producers immediately cancelled the storyline. They appeared at the beginning of one episode to explain their decision.
