Jurassic World Dominion made an impact as the sixth installment in the Jurassic Park series, solidifying its place as the third highest-grossing movie in the franchise. While critics had varying opinions, there’s no denying the film’s success, driven by several factors. Fans were especially excited about the long-awaited reunion of the original Jurassic Park trio, Sam Neill, Laura Dern, and Jeff Goldblum, alongside Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard from Jurassic World. This fusion of two worlds provided an exciting cinematic experience that resonated with audiences.

Recently, the sixth entry in the Jurassic saga, Dominion, saw Chris Pratt, Isabella Sermon, and Bryce Dallas Howard team up with original cast members Laura Dern (Ellie Sattler), Jeff Goldblum (Ian Malcolm), and Sam Neil (Alan Grant). Newcomers DeWanda Wise (Kayla Watts), Mamoudou Athie (Ramsay Cole), and Omar Sy (Barry Sembene) had essential roles in the action/adventure feature as well. Dominion was being billed as the final film. It picks up four years after Isla Nublar was destroyed; dinosaurs and humans live together, which ultimately spells disaster for humanity when these apex predators go out of control. “Jurassic World Dominion” is upon us.
Billed as the last installment in the “Jurassic” “era” (because surely there will be more films), this latest entry in the franchise that began with Steven Spielberg’s masterpiece “Jurassic Park” back in 1993, is bigger and more dinosaur-stuffed than ever. “Jurassic World: Dominion” unites the two halves of the saga, as well – with newer characters like Owen Grady (Chris Pratt) and Claire Dearing (Bryce Dallas Howard) partnering up with legacy characters Alan Grant (Sam Neill), Ellie Sattler (Laura Dern) and Ian Malcolm (Jeff Goldblum). Considering that they they are dealing with various ecological disasters, corporate conspiracies and villainous threats, there’s enough adventuring to go around.
But how does the whole thing come together? And where does the movie leave off? Read on to find contextualize that ending if you just caught up with the film on streaming.
Major spoilers for “Jurassic World: Dominion” follow.

I remember how perfectly John Williams’ lush score for 1993’s Jurassic Park set the stage for what was to follow. That film was imaginative, funny, scary, and filled with interesting doings. Since then, every sequel has paled in comparison, lifting bits and pieces of the memorable theme and elements from the first film. What filled in the large gaps were just…more. More dinosaurs. More chases. More corporate stupidity. What was a noble, yet misguided plan was undermined by corporate greed, a theme that was exhausted by the time Wayne Knight was devoured.
The Jurassic World reboot with Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard was entertaining enough and the CGI improved so we could see more nuance among the species that were now becoming a global ecological threat. Add in some genetic shenanigans with the arrival of Maisie Lockwood (Isabella Sermon), you have some new tones to play with.

The “Jurassic World” comes to some kind of conclusion in “Jurassic World Dominion,” the latest film in the “Jurassic Park” franchise and the second sequel in the semi-rebooted “Jurassic World” series of films.
The franchise’s first film, “Jurassic Park,” was released in 1993 and was directed by Steven Spielberg. A massive box office hit at the time, the film spawned a franchise that includes sequels “The Lost World: Jurassic Park” (1997) and “Jurassic Park III” (2001) and the reboot/sequel “Jurassic World” (2015) and its follow-up “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom” (2018).

Cinema, since its earliest formation, has been the ultimate special effect. The illusion of the wildest fantasies or closest realities, being all around us. And in 1993, when Stephen Spielberg’s Jurassic Park walked with dinosaurs, the ultimate effect was achieved. Much like the late great Richard Attenborough’s well meaning but misguided John Hammond, Spielberg in adapting Michael Crichton’s novel, wanted to give us something that wasn’t an illusion. Something that was real. Something we could see, and almost touch. Even all these years on, in the dawn of advancing CGI, that film’s blend of practical and new age computer generated technology, remains spellbinding, but equally as importantly, so too do its characters and it’s, ever more meaningful, story.

It all has been building to this. So goes the marketing for Jurassic World Dominion, the first film in 29 years to feature Sam Neill, Laura Dern, and Jeff Goldblum all back together onscreen as their beloved characters of Dr. Alan Grant, Dr. Ellie Satler, and Dr. Ian Malcolm, respectively. As such it is being sold as the end of the “Jurassic Era,” as well as the culmination of the original Jurassic Park movies from the 1990s on top of being the finale to the Jurassic World movies, which began by focusing on another generation in 2015.
As such the film allegedly isn’t supposed to be interested in setting the stage for sequels or events to come. Instead it prefers drawing a curtain on what we’ve already seen: We learn the truth about the origins of the first human clone, Maisie Lockwood (Isabella Sermon...

Jurassic World Dominion ends the trilogy that started seven years ago, and my only wish is that it never started in the first place.
Four years after the previous instalment, Jurassic World Dominion shows us a world where dinosaurs live alongside humans and the challenges that it brings. It’s an interesting idea, however it’s handled in such an unoriginal way that the film’s run time already begins to feel like a drag and disconnects its audience from the very start. From then on, the plot is loosely strung together as the main characters bounce from scene to scene with no real idea of what they want the film to be. There are sections...

“Jurassic World Dominion” is many things – it’s the culmination of the “Jurassic World” franchise that began in 2015 and also the conclusion of a storyline that has been going on since the first “Jurassic Park” in 1993; it’s one of the summer’s most anticipated blockbusters; and it’s a homecoming for Sam Neill, Laura Dern and Jeff Goldblum, to the franchise that made them household names. But, you know, no pressure.
TheWrap talked with Dern, co-star Isabella Sermon and co-writer/director Colin Trevorrow, about what it was like to bring the “Jurassic World” series to, if not a definitive close, then at the very least a dramatic pause. (Watch the video above).
While Dern never thought she would return to the franchise (she also never thought she’d get to play in the “Star Wars” world), she feels very grateful to be back in the series alongside Neill and Goldblum,...

Were Dr. Alan Grant (Sam Neill) and Dr. Ellie Sattler (Laura Dern) an item in the original Jurassic Park movie from 1993? Fans still debate the issue almost 30 years later. While the characters never embrace with more than a hug over the course of that Steven Spielberg classic, and refer to each other as almost anything other than friends or colleagues, it was long assumed by most who viewed the movie in ’93 that they were a couple. After all, Alan is quite defensive of Ellie when he sees Jeff Goldblum’s Ian Malcolm put the moves on the paleobotanist, and Grant’s whole arc is about him realizing he wants to have kids (and Ellie’s watchful eyes judging if he’s made that transition).

We all agree that Jurassic Park is a masterpiece, right? Perfectly directed and acted, and augmented by one of John Williams’ best scores. And we should also agree that the rest of them are trash. To be clear, I don’t mean that derisively—killer dinosaur movies should be kind of trashy. While Steven Spielberg brought a sense of wonder and genuine emotion to the first film, not even he could make the sequel anything more than a nasty movie about dinosaurs eating people.
That fact has been the blessing and curse of the Jurassic franchise. Only one movie has been able to transcend the trashy joy of dino mayhem, but even the worst of the series still has dinosaurs, and dinosaurs are awesome.

When Colin Trevorrow’s Jurassic World was first released in 2015, a portion of the audience balked at the idea that a new dinosaur theme park would be able to operate following the disastrous Isla Nublar incident in Steven Spielberg’s Jurassic Park (1993). But then March 2020 happened, and the world at large witnessed blatant disregard for public health by a great many people, corporations and institutions. All of a sudden, Jurassic World went from what some would call implausible to prescient, and that very sentiment was expressed numerous times across social media.
Trevorrow’s concluding chapter, Jurassic World Dominion, started shooting shortly before the industry-wide shutdown in 2020, but the Bay Area native acknowledges that pandemic attitudes and behaviors made their way into the film once they resumed filming in July 2020.

Like a meteor smashing into the Earth to wipe out the dinosaurs, Jurassic World Dominion crashes into movie theaters to extinguish the last vestiges of life in the wheezing Jurassic Park saga. Just weeks after Top Gun: Maverick reminded audiences of the joys of big-screen entertainment, Colin Trevorrow delivers what is possibly the dumbest, most insufferable blockbusters in years.
Nearly 30 years after Steven Spielberg brought dinosaurs back to life on the big screen, there are now six movies in the Jurassic Park franchise, and still only one of them is good. But Jurassic World Dominion is easily the bottom of the barrel, a film so bloated, dull and inept that it risks tarnishing the existence of Spielberg’s 1993 classic.
Which is a shame, because Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (2018) suggested things might be improving from Jurassic World (2015). While Trevorrow’s first at-bat in the franchise was a brainless bit of nostalgia-pandering,...

Chris Pratt as Owen Grady in Jurassic World Dominion
Hey, even though we haven’t really unpacked from last weekend’s summer vacation jaunt to Fire Island, are you ready for some more “globe-hopping”? Perhaps you’re in the mood for another island getaway near the tropics. Well, Isla Nublar off the coast of Costa Rica has been a real “cinema destination” for almost thirty years. Until about four years ago when a volcano wiped out its theme park and its major attractions; lots and lots of genetically engineered dinosaurs. Now you recall the place…er…park. Ah, but those adaptable “thunder lizards” didn’t expire under a wave of molten lava. Their fate, along with their various protectors, researchers, and exploiters, is revealed in this weekend’s big, really massive, studio feature film. Chicago – Intelligence goes extinct in this supremely dopey sixth installment of the Jurassic Park franchise. Not even the reunion of original stars Sam Neill, Laura Dern and Jeff Goldblum can counteract the law of diminishing returns and a lack of focus behind the camera.
.. as the film turns Dino after Dino into a deadening drumbeat of dull destruction.
Rating: 2.0/5.0
The film begins with Dinosaurs now roaming the earth, perching on skyscrapers and running free on the wide open prairies. I can precisely pinpoint the moment when the film lurched over the line and let me in for just how dumb it could be, and that occurs early on when writer/director Colin Trevorrow tries to top the admittedly cool sight of lead actor Chris Pratt riding a motorcycle in a pack of Velociraptors. In the latest, Pratt is on horseback roping rogue Dinosaurs like he’s on a cattle drive.

It was nearly 10 years ago when Chris Pratt signed on to play animal behaviorist Owen Grady in Jurassic World, the first new movie in the Jurassic Park franchise since 2001. Looking back at it now, Pratt tells Den of Geek he couldn’t imagine that he might still be playing Grady a decade later in Jurassic World Dominion, a movie billed as the conclusion to not just the trilogy he’s starred in but also the three movies before that.
“I had just done the first Guardians of the Galaxy and I was under contract to do whatever my contract was for that, I think it was three movies and two cameos,” Pratt says on the phone during an interview with him and Jurassic co-star Bryce Dallas Howard. “I remember thinking, ‘They’re probably gonna do the same kind of thing with Jurassic World.’ And they did—they wanted to sign us up for three movies.

If there was ever a time to drop that elusive meteorite on the Jurassic World franchise, now would be a pretty opportune moment. Lacking in any meaty flavour, Colin Trevorrow’s third instalment of the Jurassic World trilogy (sixth in the franchise overall) is tired and convoluted to the point of incoherence. And that’s not the worst thing about this lazy and repetitive finale to the dino revival fun.
This latest film is set a number of years after Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, in which the destruction of Isla Nublar saw the reality of dinosaurs and humans co-existing begin to bear fruit. Now, in monotonous action-hero mode, Chris Pratt’s dino handler Owen is living a secluded life alongside Claire (Bryce Dallas Howard) after having adopted Sir Benjamin Lockwood’s granddaughter and clone Maise (Isabella Sermon). But never fear, his beloved Blue, now a mother, still roams close by.

Think back to 1993, an ancient era when cavemen in flannel roamed the earth, a gentleman named William Jefferson Clinton was President and Twitter was not even a toxic gleam in Jack Dorsey’s eye. You’re sitting in a darkened theater, waiting for a movie to start, when the trailer for an upcoming Universal Pictures release fills the screen. Sir Richard Attenborough is speaking of “attractions so astounding that they’ll capture the imagination of the entire planet.” Sam Neill, Laura Dern, Jeff Goldblum and several kid actors stare at...

With 1990’s “Jurassic Park,” novelist Michael Crichton took a hard look at what was happening in the field of genetic research and warned, via mathematician Ian Malcolm, “Scientists are actually preoccupied with accomplishment. So they are focused on whether they can do something. They never stop to ask if they should do something.”
Across six movies and massive advances in visual effects technology, Hollywood has been wrestling with a version of that same craven because-they-can impulse. The original “Jurassic Park” film was the kind of accomplishment whose creation effectively justified its existence: Steven Spielberg’s 1993 blockbuster pushed the limits of what movies could depict, while keeping audiences focused on the ethical questions that had concerned Crichton.
Sequels were inevitable, and there, Malcolm’s words rang true as the franchise became guilty of the very thing it pretends to criticize: unleashing dinosaurs on the world with no real purpose other than profit.

To say that “Jurassic World: Dominion” squanders its potential would imply it had much to begin with. Perhaps some other, theoretical sequel to J.A. Bayona’s serviceable “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom” may have had promise, as a follow-up to that haunted-house creature-feature that ends with a human clone setting dinosaurs loose upon our world. However, “Dominion” director and co-writer Colin Trevorrow (the man responsible for “The Book of Henry”) is the opposite of an idea guy. His apparent “Jurassic” finale goes by the way of “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker” — ironic, since that was Trevorrow’s job — and brushes aside every promise made by its predecessor. It’s a sequel whose images convey little meaning, other than that which they borrow from other movies, and

More is depressingly less in Jurassic World Dominion, a legacy sequel that tosses in frequent winking nods to the 1993 Steven Spielberg thriller that started the dinosaur franchise and yet completely loses sight of the heart and humanity, the rapturous awe that made it so unforgettable. Whatever goodwill superfan director Colin Trevorrow earned with 2015’s enjoyable reboot, Jurassic World, he pulverizes it here with overplotted chaos, somehow managing to marginalize characters from both the new and original trilogies as well as the prehistoric creatures they go up against in one routine challenge after another. The triceratops was my favorite dinosaur growing up. I’m not sure why exactly, but I think it had something to do with the horns and the hard plate. He was scrappy and could fight back against the predators. I wasn’t the first to think this either. Due to the same bias, Steven Spielberg switched out a stegosaurus in the Jurassic Park novel with a triceratops for a pivotal scene onscreen. When Sam Neill puts his head against a magnificent animatronic creation and admits “she was my favorite as a kid,” Spielberg wanted that creature to have three horns recreated by human hand.
Thirty years later, there are precious few flashes of that same, simple childhood wonder in this long in the tooth franchise. Early in Jurassic World Dominion, Bryce Dallas Howard’s Claire Dearing rescues a baby triceratops from the cruelties of man when she stumbles upon one in a cage.

“At some point you do plan to have dinosaurs on your dinosaur tour, right?” That quip lobbed at Jurassic Park (the fictional place) creator John Hammond also serves as a chief concern prompted by Jurassic Park’s (the film franchise) latest entry: it fails to deliver on a straightforward premise. That’s not to say there aren’t prehistoric beasts in Jurassic World: Dominion. It’s more an observation that the human-dinosaur world collision implied in the film’s marketing—a conflict that has been teased and anticipated across this franchise’s 30-year history—is absent from any central action. If one is hoping to get various sequences resembling The Lost World’s San Diego climax, or even some of the potential chaos alluded to in Fallen Kingdom’s ending montage, they might do well to sit this one out.

The sprawling “Jurassic Park” film franchise never flinched at bringing back the beloved legacy characters that made Steven Spielberg’s 1993 smash hit such an unexpectedly human story. Jeff Goldblum and Richard Attenborough notably returned for “The Lost World” in 1997, while Sam Neill was back on the case in 2001’s “Jurassic Park III” (with a quick appearance from Laura Dern). And while the “Jurassic World” series spent nearly two entire films — save for one key Goldblum cameo at the end of “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom” — focusing on new characters, the core group that started the dino-tastic adventure has always loomed large.

Those of you determined to make up your own mind about “Jurassic World: Dominion” might want to skip everything after this sentence and wait to see the film this Friday. But for those of you who like to take into account what critics think, the social media embargo just lifted — and uh, yikes.
Yes, one could technically call the reactions mixed, since some people assert that they loved the film, but make no mistake: Most of the positive reactions also acknowledge the film has problems. And as for the negative reactions? At least one critic summed it up with a gif from “Jurassic Park” involving Jeff Goldblum and that giant pile of dinosaur excrement. You know the one.
Critics who hated it described it as “wildly repetitive,” “cluttered,” “a misfire on all fronts,” and even “just plain bad.” One thing that got mentioned again and again is that insects apparently...

As the women of “Jurassic World Dominion” reflect on the franchise’s feminist origins, the movie’s youngest female lead, 15-year-old Isabella Sermon notes the importance of having a powerful trio of women — Laura Dern’s Dr. Ellie Sattler, Bryce Dallas Howard’s Claire Dearing and DeWanda Wise’s Kayla Watts — to look up to.

“The doomsday clock might be about out of time,” Dr. Ian Malcolm says in the new trailer for “Jurassic World: Dominion,” which qualifies as the understatement of the year in the “Jurassic” universe.

In a recent interview with Empire magazine, Jurassic World Dominion helmer Colin Trevorrow teased the emergence of a new dinosaur called the Giganotosaurus in the upcoming film, likening it to a classic DC villain.
“I wanted something that felt like the Joker,” Trevorrow said of the dinosaur from the Late Cretaceous period, otherwise known as the Giga. “It just wants to watch the world burn.”
Trevorrow added that the Giga hails from BioSyn Valley. BioSyn, if you’ll recall, is the company that stole InGen’s dinosaur embryos in the original film, and will play a major role in the new film, as well. “BioSyn got the contract to house the dinosaurs that have been captured around the world via various governments,” explained Trevorrow. “They claim it’s a research facility where they can study the pharmaceutical values of the animals. But there’s some other stuff going on.”

Summer blockbuster season is just around the corner and in between the high profile superhero movies hitting theaters this summer, it can be easy to forget that there’s a new “Jurassic World” movie coming out. But fear not, it appears that the latest entry in the dinosaur franchise will have a touch of Batman flair.
“Jurassic World: Dominion” is the third film since the “Jurassic Park” franchise relaunched with 2015’s “Jurassic World.” It takes place in a world where dinosaurs have completely escaped from the theme park that once contained them and now live freely among humans, an idea that the franchise has been building towards since the first “Jurassic World.”
In a new story for Empire fans got their first look at the franchise’s latest monster, the Giganotosaurus. Unlike previous “Jurassic World” creatures, the Giganotosaurus was a real dinosaur that once existed, not a genetically modified science fiction creature.

Life finds a way, although it seems like everything may be on the brink of collapse thanks to free-roaming dinosaurs.
The first trailer for “Jurassic World: Dominion” gives “Jurassic Park” fans a glimpse of the iconic dinosaur gang — played by Laura Dern, Jeff Goldblum, and Sam Neill — joining forces with trainer Owen Grady (Chris Pratt) and theme park owner Claire Dearing (Bryce Dallas Howard) to save the world… again.
“Dominion” premieres in theaters June 10.
Set four years after the events of 2018’s “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom,” the sixth installment in the “Jurassic” franchise shows the perils of wrangling genetically engineered dinosaurs that have since been let loose on the world. As humans live side by side with dinos, the third film in the “Jurassic World” trilogy promises to offer an ultimate solution for how the two species can coexist — for better or for worse.
