The "Insidious" franchise shows no signs of stopping. There's both a spin-off movie and a new sequel on the way, and the most recent entry, "The Red Door," was a big hit in 2023. And for the most part, this horror series has remained strong. Not every film works, but the majority of the entries are solid scare-fests full of all sorts of spooky mayhem. The series kicked-off all the way back in 2011 with James Wan's "Insidious," and now here we are all these years later, still waiting for more. With that in mind, why don't we go back through the entire franchise so far and rank the titles, from worst to best? Come along with us into the Further and watch out for jump-scares.

If you like to get your nerves tickled by a scary movie and want to watch a bunch of them in a row, we’ve got some good news for you. The most chilling horror trilogy of the 21st century finally arrives on Netflix, and it has no deal with Final Destination or Paranormal Activity and The Ring franchises, it’s something even better than these ones.
Back in 2013, the world saw the first installment of this movie universe. Set in the 1970s, the movie focused on Lorraine and Ed, the duo of paranormal investigators on their way to solve the case of an isolated farmhouse that is haunted by supernatural creatures.
They are quick to realize that the house has its own macabre past, the aftermath of which is now tormenting the Perrons, who have just moved in there. Lorraine and Ed’s investigation offered the audience a number...

James Wan's recent sequel, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, marked the end of what came to be known as the Dceu era, and as we head towards James Gunn and Peter Safran's Dcu relaunch, we've decided to rank all 15 movies in the franchise.
Warner Bros.' attempt to establish a shared movie universe in the same vein as The MCU began with Man of Steel in 2013, and despite some bright spots and box office successes along the way, most would agree that it never really took flight - at least not to the level DC fans were hoping for.
Things appeared to turn a corner with Wonder Woman, which led to a lot more optimism for the future of the Dceu overall. Of course, a lot of fans still felt that things were better when Zack Snyder was in the picture, and the positive reaction to the "Snyder...

There have been many conversations in Avatar: The Last Airbender fandom surrounding Aang, Korra, and characters who are stronger than them. In the mythological world, the Avatar is the superior power; a person with the ability to bend all four elements. A messiah of sorts who can make all the pain go away and act as the great savior of people. However, among the Avatars themselves, there are a few who are stronger than the rest.
Aang in Avatar: The Last Airbender
While many would like to believe that Aang is the strongest in the bunch, the truth may be further away from it. There seems to be more than enough proof to suggest Korra is more powerful than the Airbender.

Between The Nun II, Sister Death, Consecration, the upcoming The First Omen, and the newly released Immaculate, starring Sydney Sweeney, it’s safe to say that nuns are having a moment in horror. So often, fear thrives in the unlit nooks of the unknown, and for many of us, that includes those who dedicate themselves to religious orders. Shrouded in intrigue and literal fabric, the combo of unwavering religious devotion and rejection of various worldly pleasures makes nuns ripe for genre exploration. While nuns are certainly trending, this is by no means the first time horror has blessed us with terrifying tales featuring such religious women.
In Häxan (1922), possessed nuns mingle with witches as director Benjamin Christensen explores the connection between mental health and mass hysteria. With movies like Alucarda (1975), Ms. 45 (1981), and St. Agatha (2018), the subgenre of nunsploitation comes into play to further explore themes of religious and sexual oppression.

Aang’s absence from the world for a hundred years changed a great many things, chief among them the rise of the Fire Nation as a colonizing empire. However, Aang could have also delayed the Avatar cycle by quite a bit, which, according to one theory, might be the reason why Sokka’s first girlfriend turned into the moon.

In Avatar: The Legend of Korra, we see that the next Avatar is a member of the Water Tribe, specifically the daughter of the chief of the Northern Water Tribe, which was Korra. Directed by James Wan, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is both a direct sequel to 2018’s Aquaman (also directed by Wan) and also the fifteenth and final film in the Dceu (the DC Extended Universe). As such, it does the occasional bit of floundering, but it just about treads water, thanks to a mostly seaworthy plot and suitably salty character work.
The plot picks up a few years after the events of the first film, with Arthur Curry / Aquaman (Jason Momoa) now married to Mera (Amber Heard), raising a young son, Arthur Jr. and dividing his time between ruling as the King of Atlantis (complete with shiny orange armour), and fighting crime on the surface world. However, there’s an old enemy waiting in the wings,...

We didn’t catch word of this when it happened, but it has been revealed that short filmmaker Adam Cosco recently filed a copyright and breach of contract lawsuit against Malignant director James Wan and his wife Ingrid Bisu, claiming the film plagiarized a screenplay he had written called Little Brother. Thankfully, the details are the lawsuit are just now coming to light because the case has been settled.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Cosco claimed that Ryan Turek of Blumhouse had access to his Little Brother script and passed it over to Wan, who then used it as the basis for Malignant. Wan denied ever receiving or reading the script, but the lawsuit pointed out that there were several similarities between the two works. The complaint pointed out that “both screenplays feature a twist that the protagonist has her twin brother absorbed inside her in the form of a malignant tumor,...

James Wan’s Atomic Monster has settled a copyright and breach of contract lawsuit from a writer who accused the prolific horror movie producer of ripping off his screenplay to make Malignant.

Cosco, a writer and director on several short films, sued in 2022, claiming that his screenplay for Little Brother was plagiarized. After getting acquainted with Avatar: The Last Airbender, most fans must have been utterly convinced that indeed Aang is the strongest Air Nomad Avatar. However, the storyline of that universe is vast, and although Twinkle Toes (as Toph calls him) may be an Air Nomad way more powerful than the very first Avatar, he isn’t the strongest one out there.
Aang in the Avatar universe
Instead, the title of the strongest Air Nomad goes to one other person who struggled even more than Twinkle Toes throughout her life: Malu. Although she never appeared in the animated series of the Avatar universe, there was no other Air Nomad more powerful than her. What’s more, she didn’t even have a teacher, to begin with, and reached these levels of strength by herself!

Avatar: The Last Airbender has taken the entertainment world by storm. The series has become one of the most successful live-action anime adaptations in the world. Also, it has reignited the love fans had for the original series created by Michael Dante Dimartino and Bryan Konietzko and fans are now eagerly waiting for season 2.
Avatar: The Last Airbender
The series focuses on Aang, the last Airbender who is also an Avatar and has the burden of saving the entire world from the fire kingdom. The Avatar is the human personification of light and peace who has a relationship with the Avatar Spirit. They are the strongest beings in the entire world.
Since the Avatar is the only physical being capable of bending the four elements, it is expected of them to become proficient in the four bending arts and use their powers to maintain harmony and balance among the world’s four nations.

The Avatar: The Last Airbender universe is arguably one of the most exciting fantasy worlds that fans have ever dived into. Introducing its audiences to stunning characters who can telekinetically manipulate one out of the 4 major elements—air, water, earth, or fire—through ‘bending’, a practice inspired by the Chinese martial arts, the series garnered a massive fanbase.

What’s going on with the Friday the 13th franchise? The saga has been on hold for several years now due to a messy legal issue, but Jason Voorhees is finally set to return in a brand new series from Bryan Fuller, A24 and Peacock titled “Crystal Lake.” It’s coming soon, possibly even later this year, but what about a new installment in the feature film franchise?
For what it’s worth, Jason Blum is still trying to make something happen in that department. Blum has been saying for years that he wants to bring the Friday the 13th franchise into the Blumhouse family, and it sounds like he hasn’t yet given up on those hopes.

Just over a year ago, the Peacock streaming service announced they were teaming up with genre filmmaker James Wan for a series adaptation of the 1988 bestseller Stinger, written by Robert R. McCammon (pick up a copy Here) – and even at the time, it was clear that they wouldn’t be keeping the Stinger title, because the show was being referred to as the Untitled Ian McCulloch Project, since Yellowstone consulting producer Ian McCulloch was on board to write and executive produce the show. The project is now going by the title Teacup, and not only has Peacock given it a straight-to-series order (allowing it to bypass the usual pilot process), but Deadline reports that Yvonne Strahovski, whose credits include Chuck, The Predator, The Handmaid’s Tale, Stateless, Dexter, The Tomorrow War, and He’s Out There, has signed on to play the series regular role of Maggie Chenoweth. Strahovski will also be a producer on the show.

Described as a horror thriller, “Teacup” hails from writer Ian McCulloch with James Wan and Atomic Monster attached to executive produce.
Inspired by the Robert McCammon novel “Stinger,” the series is said to follow “a disparate group of people in rural Georgia who must come together in the face of a mysterious threat in order to survive.” Strahovski will star as Maggie Chenoweth.
Strahovski has received two Emmy Award nominations for her work on Hulu’s “The Handmaid’s Tale,” on which she has starred as Serena Joy Waterford since the show began. The sixth and final season is expected to air in 2025. Strahovski is also known for shows like “Stateless” and “Dexter” and for films like “The Predator” and “The Tomorrow War.”
She is repped by Paradigm, Afa Prime Talent Media, R&cpmk, and Gretchen Rush.

Yvonne Strahovski has landed her next series project.
The Handmaid’s Tale star will lead the cast for Teacup, a horror thriller series at Peacock that counts James Wan among its executive producers. Strahovski will also be a producer on the project, which is inspired by author Robert McCammon’s 1988 novel Stinger.
Teacup will center on a group of people in rural Georgia (replacing the novel’s Texas setting) who must come together in the face of a mysterious threat in order to survive. Strahovski will play a character named Maggie Chenoweth.
Ordered to series in late 2022, Teacup comes from Universal Studio Group’s UCP and Wan’s Atomic Monster banner. Ian McCulloch (Yellowstone) adapted the novel, and E.L. Katz (The Haunting of Bly Manor) is set to direct the first episode.
McCulloch also executive produces with Wan and Atomic Monster’s Michael Clear and Rob Hackett, Katz, McCammon, Francisca X. Hu and Kevin Tancharoen.

Dceu’s fifteenth and final movie Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom starring Jason Momoa, Patrick Wilson, Amber Heard, and more is the sequel to 2018’s Aquaman. Directed by James Wan, Aquaman 2 follows the story of Momoa’s Arthur Curry a.k.a. Aquaman working with his half-brother Orm played by Wilson to prevent Black Manta from killing his family.
The highly awaited movie upon its release received a negative response from the audience and critics but praised the chemistry between Jason Momoa and Patrick Wilson. However, the critics also did not forget to mention that the movie was not impacted by the omission of Amber Heard’s scenes. Despite receiving a negative response from the audience, Aquaman 2 holds a record for Jason Momoa that only five actors have had the honor to hold till now.

Three years have gone by since Simu Liu made his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut as Shang-Chi in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, and while we’re still waiting to hear when exactly we’re going to see his character again, Liu has been keeping busy outside of the MCU. He recently had roles in Simulant, One True Loves, Barbie, and Arthur the King, he has been making music videos, and now Deadline reports that he’s set to star in an untitled espionage techno-thriller series for the Peacock streaming service and producer James Wan. Jennifer Yale, who has worked as a writer and executive producer on the Apple+ series See and Netflix’s Chambers, just came on board the project to serve as co-showrunner alongside creator/writer/executive producer Thomas Brandon, who was a writer on Legacies.

Jennifer Yale has joined the untitled Peacock espionage thriller series starring Simu Liu as co-showrunner, Variety has learned.
The show was announced with a straight-to-series order earlier in February. Thomas Brandon created the series and will also serve as co-showrunner alongside Yale.
The official description of the series states, “Five minutes in the future, a first-generation-American intelligence analyst Alexander Hale (Liu) realizes his brain has been hacked, giving the perpetrators access to everything he sees and hears. Caught between his shadowy agency and the unknown hackers, he must maintain a performance 24/7 to flush out who’s responsible and prove where his allegiance lies.”
Yale most recently wrote for the Apple TV+ series “See” starring Jason Momoa. Her other credits include “Dexter,” “Legion,” “Underground,” “Outlander,” and “Chambers.” She is also currently developing the series “De La Resistance” based on the life of Josephine Baker with A24 producing and Janelle Monae starring and executive producing.

Warner Bros. is quickly looking ahead to the upcoming online release for its latest horror movie, The Nun 2.
Five years after James Wan’s The Nun hit theaters in 2018, director Michael Chaves took over the franchise for the 2023 sequel. Taissa Farmiga, younger sister of The Nun’s Vera Farmiga, took over lead billing, with Jonas Bloquet and Storm Reid also appearing.
Featuring Wan as a producer along with DC Studios co-ceo Peter Safran, The Nun 2 became the eighth movie in The Conjuring universe, showing Farmiga’s Sister Irene investigating a priest’s murder in 1956 and encountering a new kind of evil.

The year’s Summer is almost behind us, and that means it’s already time to think about what the Fall and Winter cinema season will offer us. Both Marvel and DC will have something to offer before the end of this year, and as Marvel is releasing another chapter in their Multiverse Saga, DC is getting ready to close DC Extended Universe for good with the release of ‘Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.’
The original ‘Aquaman’ movie was released in 2018, and it was enormously successful. Grossing $1.148 billion, it became the highest-grossing DC movie ever, so naturally, it didn’t take long for Warner Bros. to greenlight a sequel. However, in the last five years, a lot of things have happened around WB and DC Studios, so the upcoming sequel has found itself in a pretty thankless position by the time the first trailer was released.

James Wan earned his recognition by directing known horror movies. His first notable work was 2004’s ‘Saw,’ a horror movie that spawned the entire franchise, for which the tenth installment will be released later this month. Wan also directed ‘Dead Silence,’ and the first two installments of ‘The Conjuring’ and ‘Insidious’ franchises. His first non-horror movie was 2015’s ‘Furious 7,’ which grossed over $1.5 billion. In 2018, he debuted in the superhero genre with ‘Aquaman,’ which grossed $1.148 billion and became the highest-grossing DC movie ever.
After five years of waiting, ‘Aquaman’ will finally get a sequel this December, and Wan returned to direct it. However, DC Studios is currently in a rough era since every DC movie released this year was a commercial failure. Since Wan’s ‘Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom’ is set to close Dceu for good, the box-office predictions for the upcoming sequel do not look promising at all.

After weeks and months of waiting, wondering if the movie will be delayed, maybe even canceled, the upcoming ‘Aquaman’ sequel finally received the first official trailer earlier this week. The trailer promises another visually stunning adventure in which Jason Momoa’s titular character will need to team with his former adversary and half-brother Orm to stop the returning villain Black Manta, who plans to get a hold of Black Trident to exact his revenge on Aquaman.
What’s interesting about ‘Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom’ is that, unlike many superhero sequels, it won’t introduce a new villain but continues the storyline from the previous movie. Black Manta, the supporting antagonist from the previous movie, now returns as the main villain, while Orm, the main antagonist of the previous movie, will return as a supporting anti-hero. That’s how it seems for now, at least.

One of the biggest horror hits in recent memory (and one of the biggest original hits of any kind for that matter) was "M3GAN." Naturally, that means a sequel is on the way. Get ready for "M3GAN 2.0."

The first trailer for Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom was finally released this morning, just months before the sequel is slated to hit theaters. Most everyone has returned to reprise their roles, but there is one notable absence: Willem Dafoe as Nuidis Vulko, Aquaman’s mentor.
While speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom director James Wan confirmed that Willem Dafoe will not be making an appearance in the sequel. “Willem is not in this one, no,” Wan said. “Part of the reason was because his schedule did not work out for us. But what that allowed me to do was expand on Atlanna’s role. Atlanna in this one ultimately becomes Arthur’s advisor. Because Arthur’s not from this world, she helps him better understand the world and the politics of how things work.” Nuidis Vulko was a definite highlight of the first Aquaman movie for me,...

It has taken a full five years but here we are, with "Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom" just around the corner. Indeed, the sequel to 2018's "Aquaman" is still coming out in December, despite the fact that the ongoing Writers Guild of America and Screen Actors Guild strikes have effectively shut Hollywood down. Be that as it may, director James Wan recently pulled the curtain back on the sequel, including how the main villain Black Manta will be able to go toe-to-toe with Arthur Curry this time around.

Arthur Curry is back in the new trailer for "Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom," and we've been waiting a really long time for his return. The first film, "Aquaman," was directed by James Wan and came out all the way back in 2018. The sequel film was supposed to come out last December but was pushed back a year because of Covid delays and leadership changes at Warner Bros. Pictures. Fans were worried that the film was going to get sent to the chopping block after James Gunn and Peter Safran took over the DC branch of Warner Bros., but we can all let out a sigh of relief as "The Lost Kingdom" is finally hitting theaters just in time for the winter holiday season. “I’m gonna kill Aquaman and everything he holds dear,” promises Black Manta in the trailer for Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. “I’m gonna murder his family and burn his kingdom to ash.”
Such boasts are par for the course among supervillains like Black Manta (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II), and most people watching the trailer dismiss it as usual bad guy bluster. After all, the first Aquaman movie earned over $1 billion in 2018 because of its lighthearted tone. Director James Wan and writers David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick and Will Beall, working off a story they wrote with Wan and comics scribe Geoff Johns, crafted a fun script that took advantage of Aquaman’s role in the popular imagination and star Jason Momoa‘s undeniable charisma. In an era when many superhero films have adapted an unflattering, desaturated visual style in the name of realism, "Aquaman" is a balm for the eyes. The James Wan-directed DC Comics flick is full of eye-popping colors and imagery reminiscent of the splash pages you find in actual comic books. There are also nods aplenty to classic sci-fi and adventure stories, from the globe-trotting tomb-raiding of the Indiana Jones films to the fantastical prehistoric setting of Arthur Conan Doyle's "The Lost World." So it should come as no surprise that Wan has taken a similar approach to crafting a unique look for his sequel, "Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom."

The sequel to "Aquaman," Warner Bros. and DC's surprising 2018 bombshell box office smash (which still holds the record as the company's highest-grossing film to date -- sorry Batman!) is almost here after a long wait. At long last, the trailer for "Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom" is here, giving us a glimpse of the further adventures of Arthur Curry aka Aquaman (Jason Momoa). I recently got to attend a Q&a with director James Wan who spoke about the film, including something I'm certain a bunch of you are excited for. You may have noticed a second passenger on Aquaman's (Jason Momoa) giant seahorse in the recent teaser trailer. Yes, friends, that is indeed Topo the drum-playing octopus from the first film. In case you were wondering, Entertainment Weekly confirmed that the seahorse is Aquaman's comic book transportation buddy Storm.

On November 1, 2022, James Gunn and Peter Safran had their first day on the job as the new co-chairmen and chief executive officers of DC Studios. The duo later announced a brand new slate of movies based on DC Comics characters as part of a reset of the DC Universe of films. There's just one problem -- "Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom" was still in production after an announced delay earlier that year, and the character was introduced in the previous DC Extended Universe of films. How does Aquaman fit into this new cinematic universe? Did the film suddenly have to change course to accommodate the changes Gunn/Safran wanted to make?

In James Wan's "Aquaman," Arthur Curry (Jason Momoa) struggles with his legacy as heir to Atlantis and overcomes obstacles to claim what is rightfully his. This victory is hard-earned and not without opposition, and this transition will serve as the premise for Wan's "Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom." Now, as the King of Atlantis, Arthur has to contend with the return of Black Manta (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II) and seek help from his estranged family to protect his kingdom. While "Aquaman 2" will lean heavily into the themes of revenge and heroic retribution, director James Wan has also incorporated a primary element from the "Fast and Furious" franchise: family.

Horror has long been a jumping-off point for big studio directors. Sam Raimi made the "Evil Dead" films before he got "Spider-Man." Peter Jackson made one of the bloodiest films ever filmed with "Braindead" (aka "Dead Alive" for us Americans) and then did "The Lord of the Rings." This is a trend that continues to this day. James Gunn is one of the most powerful directors and producers in the business right now and he got his start with Troma!
Then we have James Wan, who transformed the horror cycle twice in the last 20 years. First with "Saw" in 2004, which kicked off a short-lived, but prolific movement of "torture porn" horror, and then with "Insidious" and "The Conjuring" in 2010 and 2013, respectively. We're still living in the ripples of those two movies which have spawned franchises in their own right as well as pulled supernatural horror back into the mainstream.

Four days ago Warner Bros. Pictures unveiled the long-awaited first look at Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom along with the first small batch of photos. That teaser promised a full trailer would arrive today, and WB delivered on that promise with a nearly three-minute, jam-packed trailer.
Aquaman starring Jason Momoa in the title role hit theaters back in 2018. And now, five years and one long Covid shutdown later, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is swimming toward a December 20, 2023 theatrical release.
Patrick Wilson, Amber Heard, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, and Nicole Kidman return alongside Momoa to star in the sequel. James Wan is also back as director and David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick wrote the screenplay, based on a story by Wan, Johnson-McGoldrick, Momoa, and Thomas Pa’a Sibbett. Paul Norris and Mort Weisinger created the DC Aquaman comics.

Since then, director James Wan has been busy dealing with release date changes, regime changes at the studio, various rounds of reshoots, and who knows what other headaches behind the scenes.
