Joe DeGregorio(I)
- Additional Crew
Joe was born in Louisiana but lived in the mountains of New York state for a good portion of his childhood. Aviation and Meteorology have been a part of Joe's life from a very young age Thanks in large part to his father who worked in the Airline Industry. Joe is an avid cook and Cajun foods are one of his specialties along with traditional Italian dishes. Joe is a Military Veteran serving in the Louisiana National Guard and briefly in the US Navy before being medically retired. Joe trained and served as a Combat Medic and received letters of commendation for his work, skill and leadership as a Medic.
Joe became partially disabled in mid 2001 and thereafter became a developer for Microsoft Flight Simulator developing freeware add-on products and began to mentor young people who were interested in aviation helping guide them to become pilots while others went on to earn college degree's and are successful in the aviation industry.
During Joe's life he continued to study Meteorology every chance he got and applied himself to the science after his injury in 2001 and with the advent of the social media boom he took to social media with his weather skills and talent and in 2010 organized a very successful storm spotter group devoted to Southeast Louisiana.
Joe's efforts paid off in 2015 when one of his mentors in Meteorology referred him to the movie industry Insurance firm who sent him on his first two major motion films as a Weather Observer/Weather Consultant. Joe's skill, talent and accuracy earned him the respect of many in the film industry that he worked with, all the while being a self taught Meteorologist, one of a very select few who can make that claim.
In late 2016 Joe moved away from Louisiana after the devastating flood of August 2016 to rural Western Virginia where he continued to maintain his weather service for Southeast Louisiana.
Joe moved back to Louisiana, in Jennings in Feb. 2017 where he continues to reside today and started a local social media weather page for his local area called Southwest Louisiana Weather.
