Melbourne and Brisbane-based Continuance Pictures has launched a short film fund offering up to $10,000 per project for emerging filmmakers whose shorts would serve as concepts for feature films or TV series.
The aim is to create shorts that will screen at A-list film festivals and provide proof-of-concept for bigger productions.
Co-founded by Tristan Barr and David Gim, the production company hopes the Continue Short Film Initiative will result in more than 50 shorts over five years.
Barr says: “As a filmmaker there is nothing worse than receiving a rejection letter and not understanding why. Through this process the team at Continuance Pictures are attempting to provide feedback to applicants to build working relationships and ongoing opportunities for the future.”
Umbrella Entertainment, which is discussing several projects with Continuance, supports the initiative. Head of acquisitions Ari Harrison tells If: “We believe it’s a great idea. There are so many first-time directors...

Exclusive: Ina Petersen’s fast-rising international management and production firm Inner Voice Artists is expanding to Norway with the opening of an Oslo office in November. This comes less than a year since Petersen launched Iva to “promote bridges instead of borders” by creating more opportunities for actors and filmmakers from around the world. It recently acquired rights to Danish filmmaker Nicolo Donato’s Tolerance, which Petersen will produce.
Independent event organizer and PR consultant Dijana Stupar has been hired as Head of PR, Talent Relations and Media Consulting in the Oslo hub. Her credits include several non-profit campaigns and fundraising events. In 2017, she ran a large group campaign centered on the manuscript of the Norwegian worldwide phenomenon teenage show, Skam, whose U.S. version airs on Facebook Watch. The campaign was part of Norway’s biggest annual charity event airing on Nrk.
Stupar also has extensive Scandinavian festival experience including Oslo Pix Film Festival,...

Exclusive: Ina Petersen’s La-based international management and production firm, Inner Voice Artists, has acquired rights to Danish filmmaker Nicolo Donato’s latest script, Tolerance. The company, which was formed earlier this year to create opportunities for actors and filmmakers from around the world, has also signed Donato to its growing roster.
Tolerance is inspired by the racially-charged 2017 events in Charlottesville where a woman was fatally injured. It’s described as a powerful story of a man who decides to leave the Ku Klux Klan after discovering that he has a daughter. In his quest for redemption, he learns how love sometimes conquers all.
Donato’s previous credits include Brotherhood, which was nominated for two Bodil Awards as well as winning two major prizes in Rome. He also helmed 2016’s Across The Waters, and is known for socially impactful work.
Donato will direct Tolerance with Petersen producing alongside Ramfis Myrthil...

Exclusive: Fast-rising Norwegian actor Thomas Gullestad has signed with Ina Petersen’s La-based international management and production firm, Inner Voice Artists. Gullestad recently starred in Harald Zwart’s critically praised adventure drama The 12th Man opposite Jonathan Rhys Myers, receiving strong notices for what was his first major role. He’s also the lead in Zwart’s upcoming comedy series, The Oil Fund.
Other feature credits include crime comedy franchise Tomme Tønner. Before turning to acting, Gullestad was a talk show host, fronting successful Norwegian late night programs including Dansken & Fingern and Min Man Kan. Further, he’s a hip hop musician whose group Klovner I Kamp are opening for Eminem in Oslo on June 30.
Launched early this year, Inner Voice Artists has had a busy couple of months. Petersen tells me she’s in pre-production on the firm’s first film and in development on several international TV projects.
