This article contains spoilers through Teen Wolf season 6.
Watching MTV’s Teen Wolf for the first time years after it aired is an interesting experience. There are many things about the series that feel like a product of the 2010s, from the Bieber-esque hairstyle we first see Scott McCall (Tyler Posey) wear in the first season to the borderline cheesy romances. But what stands out the most watching this series now is how much the final season reflects the state of the U.S. and its politics during that time.
2017 marked the first year of Donald Trump’s presidency, and a turning point in U.S. politics that we’re still dealing with to this day. Electing a reality TV star not only gave an incompetent buffoon more power than he should have ever had, but it reinforced to certain extreme sects of the country that their views of the world were right.

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for Roswell, New Mexico Season 4 Episode 5 “You Get What You Give.”] It was only a matter of time before something happened between Isobel (Lily Cowles) and Kyle (Michael Trevino), given their chemistry. And in the latest episode of Roswell, New Mexico, something did. Following a painful end to her relationship with Anatsa (Sibongile Mlambo), Isobel followed Kyle to Mexico as everyone continues to investigate the new aliens. There, they not only found a lead (they’re on track to find Shiri Appleby’s Allie!) but also share a dance that leads to a kiss! Cowles breaks down that big moment and teases what’s ahead, including how the series will end for Isobel. Let’s talk about that kiss. There are moments leading up to it in previous episodes, yes, but just in this episode — there’s his reaction to her hand on his shoulder, then the dance. How does Isobel feel about Kyle? ...

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for the Roswell, New Mexico Season 4 premiere “Steal My Sunshine.”] There’s a new trio of aliens in Roswell, and while we have no idea what they’re up to — including why two robbed a bank or why the sky has turned purple — this can’t be anything good. Elsewhere in the Roswell, New Mexico Season 4 premiere, Max (Nathan Dean) planned to propose to Liz (Jeanine Mason), only for her to ask him to wait since she felt like the other shoe was about to drop. Michael (Michael Vlamis) moved in with Alex (Tyler Blackburn) and panicked after he broke a childhood touchstone, but Alex assured him, “what I can’t live without is you.” Anatsa (Sibongile Mlambo) told Isobel (Lily Cowles) she loves her, and the other woman responded in kind and was about to tell her she’s an alien when ...

Right from the title director Gia Elliot and co-writer Emma Fitzpatrick make it clear that Take Back the Night isn’t just another monster movie. By using the slogan of many marches and movements protesting violence against women as their title they signal their intention to make this about more than simple scares.
The challenge with that is not letting the message overwhelm the actual plot and the film’s entertainment value. Or worse become heavy-handed and preachy. The Hunting, which I recently reviewed, is an example, its message about veterans and Ptsd taking over what was supposed to be a werewolf film. Can the makers of Take Back the Night succeed where many have failed before?...

"I'm not making this up!" Dark Sky Films has revealed a new trailer for Take Back The Night, an intense vigilante horror-thriller made by filmmaker Gia Elliot. This premiered at a bunch of genre film festivals last year, including the Telluride Horror Fest, and is arriving on VOD in March this year. Finding herself the victim of a violent monster attack, Jane launches a vigilante campaign to hunt the beast that tried to kill her. Her troubling history of drug use & mental illness causes her family, community, and authorities to question the authenticity of her account. Suddenly alone in her fight, Jane starts to doubt if this Monster exists at all. Emma Fitzpatrick stars as Jane, with Angela Gulner, Jennifer Lafleur, Sibongile Mlambo, Corina Kinnear, Kati Sharp, Natalie D'Amico, and Jess Varley. This looks stylish & terrifying, but also looks like an extremely obvious metaphor about sexual assault "monsters" ...

In Florida Man, created by Todd, when a struggling ex-cop (Ramírez) is forced to return to his home state of Florida to find a Philly mobster’s runaway girlfriend, what should be a quick gig becomes a spiraling journey into buried family secrets and an increasingly futile attempt to do the right thing in a place where so much is wrong. Black Lightning‘s Jordan Calloway broke the news to his fans that his Painkiller spinoff will not be moving forward at The CW as it defines its 2021 fall schedule. Shorty after The CW revealed what is and isn’t in the works, Calloway spoke fans and followers via Instagram TV.
“Painkiller will not be going forward, so let’s rip that band-aid off now,” he said.
In addition to the Black Lightning spinoff, nun dramedy Our Ladies of Brooklyn will not move forward at The CW.
The spinoff would have seen Calloway reprise his role as the titular character while Black Lightning showrunner Salim Akil will write, exec produce and direct. Set to join the cast were Sibongile Mlambo, Alexander Hodge and James Roch. The planted pilot spinoff aired as the seventh episode of Black Lightning’s fourth season.

Jordan Calloway describes himself as both a comic book nerd and an action-flick aficionado. So, to say that he was born to play Black Lightning‘s Painkiller is an understatement.
Calloway will reprise his dual roles tonight at 9/8c on The CW, in a highly anticipated backdoor pilot for a potential Painkiller spinoff. As he did in the original series, he’ll play both Khalil and Painkiller — and try to do the right thing as both personalities fight for dominance within. Lovecraft Country Episode 5
A white woman (Jamie Neumann) wakes up in an unfamiliar place and doesn’t recognize herself in the mirror. She runs away looking for help, and in her distress, bumps into a Black boy. Black folks on the street look on in horror as cops threaten the boy for “assaulting” the woman. She assures them the boy was only helping. She’s shocked at white strangers’ concern for her, and Black folks’ fear of her, and realizes how powerful the weapon of white femininity is. Cops take her back to William, who cuts Ruby out of the white body while explaining to her that magic is real.

And another Freeform show bites the dust.
Siren has been canceled after three seasons at the young-skewing cabler, it has been announced.
In its third -- and now final -- season, Siren averaged a 0.11 demo rating and 410,000 total viewers (in Live+Same day numbers).
This is down 30 and 15 percent from one year earlier.
Out of the seven series currently on Freeform’s slate, it ranks second in the demo (trailing only grown-ish) and No. 1 in total audience.
As such, the cancellation is somewhat surprising.
The series took place coastal town of Bristol Cove, Washington, known for its legends of once being home to mermaids and mermen for centuries.

The phrase “triple threat” is the perfect way to describe Sigongile Mlambo. As an actress, model, and dancer, Sigongile has proven that she has the ability to entertain people in more ways than one. Although it may seem like it, Sigongile Mlambo isn’t a newcomer to the entertainment world. She got her start in in the late 90s but didn’t see a huge surge in her career until the mid 2010s. Best-known for her roles in shows like Siren, Black Sails, and Lost in Space Mlambo has been working hard to make a name for herself and leave her mark. Continue

Regardless of how much we don't want to believe it, Teen Wolf is officially over. The gang conquered the inugitae (which is a word we still don't know how to spell). Gerard (Michael Hogan) got what was coming to him (in a hopefully deadly fight with his daughter, Kate (Jill Wagner)). Monroe (Sibongile Mlambo) was sent packing, and everyone managed to survive without too much damage (at least any lasting damage that they couldn't heal from). It was both an ending and a new beginning, as the best series finales usually are, and it was beautiful. We got creator Jeff Davis on the phone to answer some of our questions (and also to kind of just listen to us as we talked at him about our finale thoughts and...

"Whoever you work for, get him! This was a Message from the King." Don't mess with Chadwick Boseman! Netflix has released a new official Us trailer for the hardcore action thriller Message from the King, starring American actor Chadwick Boseman as a mysterious badass who comes to Los Angeles to find his sister. "His pursuit of revenge will lay bare a network of depravity that stretches from the dive-bars of the gang heartlands to the glitz of the Hills." The entire cast includes Teresa Palmer, Luke Evans, Alfred Molina, Tom Felton, and Sibongile Mlambo. This kind of looks like a cool mashup of Taken plus John Wick, with Boseman kicking some serious ass while seeking revenge for his sister. Yes, yet another revenge movie, but at least it's not the typical version of this kind of story. Or maybe it is? I'm still interested. Enjoy. Here's the official Us trailer...

“Black Sails” actress Sibo Mlambo has been cast as the female lead in Universal’s sequel “Honey 3,” which will be set in South Africa and likely debut on DVD in the U.S., TheWrap has learned. Mlambo will play Ishani Magona, a street-tough Cape Town local who never backs down from a fight — or a dance battle. Using hints of Kwaito, a style based on African tribal rhythms, Ishani’s moves are as aggressive and powerful as she is. Still reeling from the loss of her brother, Ishani has a hardened exterior and doesn’t take too kindly to an outsider named Malea.
