There has been a constant battle of human vs AI in art as the technology now seems to be tempting to many artists. Sure, sometimes, AI does marvel bringing out the acute wonders our minds can imagine with prompts. But how can prompts be an art form? Fans now question Millennium Films’ President’ justification as he openly admitted using AI in the new Hellboy film.

It wasn’t until I started writing this article that I remembered something. A new Hellboy movie, titled Hellboy: The Crooked Man, is coming soon, likely to see release sometime this year.
Ketchup Entertainment acquired the rights last year to Millennium Media’s reboot, which will star Jack Kesy in the title role. But we’ll report more on that project in the coming months.
In the meantime, Deadline has announced today that a documentary on Hellboy creator Mike Mignola, titled Mike Mignola: Drawing Monsters, is also coming soon.
Deadline reports that Nacelle (“The Toys That Made Us”) has acquired the doc, with no release date announced at this time. The documentary “tells the story of Mignola — one of the most successful independent comic book creators, who has inspired generations of writers and artists — and how he came to create a world-renowned comic book universe.

For a comic book movie franchise that has never reached the heights of most Marvel or DC films of the last two decades, "Hellboy" has remained shockingly resilient. To that end, Mike Mignola's beloved character is set for yet another big-screen reboot in the form of "Hellboy: The Crooked Man." This time around, the character will be headed back to the 1950s for a folk horror adventure based on one the most celebrated storylines from the comics.
This will be the character's first film since 2019's "Hellboy." Starring David Harbour, it proved to be a critical and commercial disaster. Be that as it may, Millennium Media is set to try to bring the character to life once again with a lower-budget take on the material. So, when will you be able to see the movie? Who is playing Hellboy? Who is directing this time around? We've got all of...

A new live-action vision of Hellboy will be coming to our screens soon, a franchise reboot called Hellboy: The Crooked Man that has been directed by Crank‘s Brian Taylor from a screenplay by Chris Golden and Hellboy comic book creator Mike Mignola. The film is a Millennium Media production, and since Millennium was also behind the newly released The Expendables 4 (or Expend4bles), our own Chris Bumbray was able to talk to the company’s Les Weldon, who is a producer on both Expend4bles and Hellboy: The Crooked Man. During their conversation, Weldon revealed that we should expect this new film to be the darkest, creepiest Hellboy movie yet.
Hellboy: The Crooked Man will see Hellboy and a rookie Bprd agent stranded in 1950s rural Appalachia. There, they discover a small community haunted by witches, led by a local devil with a troubling connection to Hellboy’s past: the Crooked Man.

The video game Hellboy: Web of Wyrd is heading our way from developer Upstream Arcade and publisher Good Shepherd Entertainment – but it’s going to arrive two weeks later than previously expected. In a press release, Good Shepherd assured fans, “Developer Upstream Arcade is still hard at work ensuring that all players—longtime fans and newcomers to the Hellboy universe alike—receive the best experience possible.“
The game is a roguelite action brawler with an original story created in partnership with Dark Horse Comics and Hellboy creator Mike Mignola. With Hellboy: The Crooked Man officially done filming, its arrival will undoubtedly be met with a mixture of skepticism and hype–based so much on the critical and commercial failure of 2019’s take. For many, the David Harbour-starring attempt was more than enough to sour the franchise; yet, how much worse could another go be? Some, however, will be completely indifferent, like Ron Perlman, who suggested the future of Hellboy is pretty far down on his list of things he should care about.
Speaking with ComicBook.com, Ron Perlman said he’s not terribly interested in any other Hellboy movies except for the ones he did with Guillermo del Toro. “What happens with the character and the franchise on the periphery of any of that is none of my business…I prefer to just dwell in the feeling that I continue to have having played him and having played him...

"She's crazy!" Paramount has revealed an official trailer for Sheroes, an action thriller comedy arriving in theaters and on VOD to watch this June. This is one of these pretend "female empowerment" movies that is actually written and directed by a man, who has never directed a movie before (only produced them), which does not bode well. When four thick-as-thieves friends arrive in Thailand for a hedonistic adventure, they quickly find themselves in over their heads when one of them gets kidnapped by a notorious drug lord. As they fight to stay alive and protect one another, they employ a unique set of skills in a heart-pumping battle for survival. The movie stars Sasha Luss, Wallis Day, and Isabelle Fuhrman as three main ladies, plus Jack Kesy, Joseph Angelo, and Skai Jackson. Plus an unnamed Thai cast. So they stole that line from Taken and they're not ashamed about it?...

A new Hellboy is on the way courtesy of one of the mad minds behind the Crank series. Brian Taylor, one-half of the Taylor/Neveldine directing partners, is helming the new adaptation Hellboy: The Crooked Man. This will be the third feature film incarnation of the Dark Horse comic after Guillermo Del Toro‘s two films, with Ron Perlman in the role, and the 2019 reboot with David Harbour. Hellboy creator Mike Mignola has recently confirmed on his Instagram account that the principle photography on Hellboy: The Crooked Man has wrapped.
Mignola’s post consists of an image from the comic and he writes,
“So they’ve wrapped principal photography on the new Hellboy movie.

German film and TV distribution and licensing company Telepool, which is owned by Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith’s Westbrook, is moving into lead producing movies and series, its CEO Yoko Higuchi-Zitzmann tells Variety exclusively in her first interview since joining the company in January.
Munich-based Telepool is celebrating its 60th anniversary on Wednesday, and although it has a barrel-load of experience in selling, distributing, licensing, financing and co-producing movies and series, this shift into initiating and lead producing represents a significant step for the company. It also forms part of Westbrook’s broader strategy for international expansion, which – in part – lay behind its acquisition of Telepool in December 2021.
Higuchi-Zitzmann seems ideally suited to the task as she has worked for several leading German film and TV companies, giving her experience in both distribution and production. Most recently, she served as the managing director of Pantaleon Films, whose founders include German star Matthias Schweighöfer,...

The search for the best director of the latest Hellboy saga is on after it’s been confirmed that Jack Kesy will star as the lead for the upcoming feature. Brian Taylor is attached to the project as the director, but given how early of a development this is, it wouldn’t be surprising if another filmmaker landed the spot for the comic book film. Hellboy has struggled to truly find its footing in the mainstream since Guillermo del Toro’s attempt at a franchise back in 2004. Hellboy and Hellboy II: The Golden Army has been highly regarded as some of the...

A new "Hellboy" reboot is coming! Created by artist and writer Mike Mignola in 1993 for Dark Horse Comics, Hellboy is a larger-than-life half-human, a half-demon superhero. Through the decades, Hellboy has found steady success in printed publications and continued to appear on the page even 30 years after his origin. In a comics landscape that is consistently changing, Hellboy has managed to stay endlessly relevant.
While the monster hunter has been successful in the arena of comic books, his arrival on the silver screen is mired with uncertainty. The character has been previously brought to life in Guillermo del Toro's two-part film franchise starring actor Ron Perlman as the harbinger of the apocalypse. While the first two films made a "little bit of profit," a third never materialized as studios saw it as a "dangerous" project, del Toro once revealed.
A 2019 reboot of the film starring actor David Harbour was a commercial and critical failure.

A new, hot literary collab just dropped: Hellboy creator Mike Mignola and Lemony Snicket from “A Series of Unfortunate Events” fame are partnering up for an illustrated and annotated edition of Carlo Collodi’s classic novel “Pinocchio.” Variety has the first look of the little wooden boy, reimagined by Mignola.
Teaming back up with award-winning colorist Dave Stewart, Mignola returned to his gothic roots for a reimagining of the centuries-old story that will be published by Beehive Books. But despite the wooden boy’s recent, Oscar-winning popularity, Pinocchio has always influenced Mignola’s oeuvre.
“This is a book I’ve loved since I read it when I was a young teenager,” Mignola told Variety. “I really think between this and Dracula, this is what’s formed whatever the hell it is I do, my sensibilities.” When first approached by Beehive Books to contribute to their collection of reworked literary classics,...

According Hellboy.Fandom, Tom Ferrell is a character from the comic books who “was born around 1923 in the Appalachian mountains near the Hurricane (an area locals try to avoid) to a mother we know little of and his father, Charles E. Ferrel, who had a habit of drinking in the back woods. His early misadventures with witchcraft led to a self-imposed exodus.

It doesn't feel like all that long ago we were getting ready for a "Hellboy" reboot from director Neil Marshall ("The Descent") with David Harbour, of "Stranger Things" fame, in the title role. Harbour looked great, the cast had a lot of promise, and yet, the film flopped spectacularly when it debuted in 2019 both critically and commercially. Be that as it may, Millennium Media is going to give it another try with an R-rated, horror-skewing take on the Dark Horse Comics character in the form of "Hellboy: The Crooked Man." And, for better or worse, it seems very much like it's going to be a lower budget affair, particularly as comic-book movies go.
Even 2019's "Hellboy" only carried a reported $50 million budget, which is modest compared to say a Marvel movie, which can easily cost close to $200 million these days. But we have some evidence that suggests Millennium is going...

Just last week, we learned that a new attempt was being made to bring Mike Mignola's Hellboy to the big screen. And by that, we mean a new new attempt, ditching the version starring David Harbour. So who is the new Hellboy? Step forward Jack Kesy.
In case this is your cue to say, "who Kesy"? you might have seen him in Deadpool 2 (briefly), 12 Strong, Baywatch and TV shows such as The Strain and Claws.
The new movie, which features Crank's Brian Taylor directing and Mignola writing the script alongside comics collaborator Christopher Golden, will adapt The Crooked Man. Millennium Media‘s Hellboy reboot, The Crooked Man, is ready to open the gates of hell to Jack Kesy. Kesy will play Hellboy, the pancake-eatin’, kitty-pettin’ demon who fights supernatural creatures and overlords with a shit-eating grin across his red lips. Crank director Brian Taylor directs the Hellboy reboot from a script written by Hellboy comic book creator Mike Mignola and Chris Golden.
The plot for Hellboy: The Crooked Man finds Big Red forsaken in 1950s rural Appalachia with a Bprd agent who’s new to the art of banishing baddies alongside a team of supernaturally-charged hunters. While in Appalachia, the duo discovers a remote community haunted by witches, led by a local devil with a troubling connection to Hellboy’s past: the Crooked Man.

Neil Marshall‘s 2019 “Hellboy” reboot with David Harbour was an unmitigated disaster on every level. So where does the franchise go from here? Apparently, with Millennium Media‘s fast and cheap approach to filmmaking. And Millennium has their new Hellboy for their upcoming reboot, “The Crooked Man,” and no, it’s not a name like Harbour or Ron Perlman.

There’s a new Hellboy in town. Actor Jack Kesy will dawn the red makeup for The Crooked Man, Millennium Media’s new take on the comic book antihero.
Crooked Man is set in the 1950s and finds Hellboy stranded in rural Appalachia. Hellboy and a rookie agent at Bprd (the Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense, which is central to the Hellboy mythos) discover a small community haunted by witches, led by a local devil with a troubling connection to Hellboy’s past: the Crooked Man.
Brian Taylor, who co-directed the 2006 Jason Statham feature Crank, is at the helm. Hellboy comic book creator Mike Mignola penned the script with Chris Golden. Millennium is partnering with German film and TV distributor Telepool on the project, the first in a planned slate of co-productions.
Kesy has had smaller roles in high-profile features such as Deadpool 2 and Michael B. Jordan’s Without Remorse.

Millennium Media is getting set to begin production on brand new live action movie Hellboy: The Crooked Man, and Deadline lets us know today that Hellboy has been cast.
Jack Kesy will be playing the next big screen incarnation of Hellboy, taking over from previous performers Ron Perlman and David Harbour.
“Jack Kesy is a dynamic actor who has the ability to morph into his roles. His talent and stature are perfect for this younger Hellboy. I was very impressed with him while working together on The Outpost,” said co-President of Millennium Media, Jonathan Yunger.
Brian Taylor (Crank, Gamer, Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance, Mom and Dad) has been chosen to direct the movie for Millennium, based on a Hellboy mini-series from 2008.
Production is starting next month in Bulgaria, Deadline reports. The story is said to “expand Hellboy’s world through one of the most beloved issues of the comic series.
