Canaries is a British feature getting a Horror Channel FrightFest screening this weekend. We've been taking a look...
Think of big screen science fiction, and it’s likely to bring to mind glossy images of alien spacecrafts obliterating the White House, monsters running amuck in New York or Tokyo, or a post-apocalyptic Los Angelean wasteland. It’s perhaps unsurprising that these are the moments which linger in our collective consciousness; on screen at least, such cataclysmic events are usually clustered around the world’s big cities, with filmmakers giving little thought to how they might play out elsewhere.
There have been exceptions of course, such as classics like Village Of The Damned (1960) and The Stepford Wives (1975) and, in more recent years, UK filmmakers have also been looking to redress the balance. Marc Price set his 2008 zombie movie Colin on a suburban British estate, for example, while Stephen Fingleton...

[[tmz:video id="0_7k3cnz3k"]] A powerful U.S. congressmen is calling out NFL owners on behalf of Colin Kaepernick -- he clearly feels the Qb is being punished for speaking his conscience ... and "it's unfair." TMZ Sports spoke with Cedric Richmond -- a democrat from Louisiana who's also the chair of the Congressional Black Caucus. He's also a big football fan. So, when we asked how he felt about Kaepernick still being unemployed -- the congressman didn't hold back.

Jason is joining his best friend Colin and his family on a weekend getaway to a cabin in the woods. Along for the ride is Colin’s sister Summer, their dad Roger and his girlfriend Tina. Jason and Colin could not be more opposite from each other. Jason is quiet and awkward, failing repeatedly to impress Summer. Colin on the other hand has a mouth on him and we could go as far as calling him a brat. Stocked up on a cornucopia of alcohol the responsible adults get down to some hard partying so the kids head out to explore. Through the woods they come upon the house of Neighbour (Lauren Holly) and they spy on her feeding some bros to creatures that live...

[[tmz:video id="0_82uixplj"]] Are the 49ers trying to sabotage Colin Kaepernick? It's possible ... according to FS1 star Joy Taylor who says it seems like much of the bad info hitting the media about Ck is coming from his old employer. Taylor went viral on social media this week for taking a strong stand for Colin on "Undisputed" with Skip and Shannon ... saying the Qb is being blackballed by NFL owners for being a social justice crusader. In fact,...

What's the key to social media? If there's anyone that knows the answer to that question, it's the cast of E!'s new digital series Hashtaggers. In the video above the cast is spilling some serious social media secrets. "I'm like all about those hashtags," Patty Guggenheim, who plays Molly on the show, says. "There's so many good ones. And like the #TBTs and I'm trying to get my own one like #SlingBackSaturday started #Sbs… we'll see." Actor Peet Guercio, who plays Colin on the show, revealed what he doesn't post on social media. "I don't post 'this is what I had for lunch and here's a retweet of what I had for lunch...

We're just over a week away from the premiere of E!'s new scripted, digital series Hashtaggers! Actor Peet Guercio plays Colin on the show, one of the four main characters. "Colin is a former child star," Peet says in the video above. "He was on TV shows and stuff when he was little and it kinda didn't work out after that. He was pretty famous when he was little and now he's sort of fallen from grace out of the public eye." Peet goes on to say that Colin is "a little bit bitter" about his fall from grace but he remains "happy" and "content about it anyway." Take a look at the video to learn more about Peet and his character...

*Spoilers ahead from last night's "True Detective" Season 2*
Only two episodes of "True Detective" Season 2 have aired on HBO, and we're still trying to figure out the characters' names and motivations (beyond a lot of scowling). At this point, we're still following them as Colin Farrell, Rachel McAdams, Vince Vaughn, and Taylor Kitsch. And after Episode 2, "Night Finds You," maybe there's no Colin Farrell anymore?
Farrell plays Detective Ray Velcoro, opposite McAdams as Detective Ani Bezzerides, Kitsch as Officer Paul Woodrugh and Vaughn as criminal entrepreneur Frank Semyon. "Night Finds You" ended with Farrell's Ray Velcoro shot multiple times by someone wearing a mask -- a black bird mask. And it's HBO. And a main character may or may not be dead. This is too close to "Game of Thrones" to ignore. Jon Snow just got stabbed by his fellow "crows" in the Season 5 finale and may or may not ever return.

Iko Uwais isn’t a household name just yet, but anyone who has seen any of director Gareth Evans’ last three films — Merantau, The Raid, The Raid 2 — likely remembers both his face and his sick moves. If you’re of such an ilk, the kind of moviegoer who relishes in the strange and ambitious fare of the science fiction genre, you are probably also away of the 2010 alien invasion film Skyline from VFX wiz-kids Greg and Colin Strause. Made on a small budget and delivered with great scale, Skyline was an imperfect but remarkably impressive entry in the packed landscape of alien invasion cinema. Now these two things are coming together. Badass fighter + badass alien effects. You’re welcome. More details after the jump, including word of yet another Indonesian ass-kicker’s involvement. Beyond Skyline, which begins filming in early December in Indonesia, will be written and directed by Liam O’Donnell, who...

The following "messages" were sent to Kevin B. Lee as part of the preparatory work for our video Out 1 Solitaire:
Part of the impact of Out 1 derives from the way it captures several aspects of transatlantic 60s counterculture, but the differences between North America and France during this period are telling. Psychedelic drug culture hadn't yet made many discernible inroads, although things we associate with that culture—especially LSD trips and changing perceptions of duration—seem present in some form, especially in Colin's solipsistic fantasies and preoccupations and some of the "tribal" rituals of the theater group's exercises. Politics were also perceived differently, above all because of the experience of...

Chicago – The pure, character-driven film is as rare as a comic book movie with a bad opening weekend. “Land Ho!” is one of those celluloid treats, the simple story of “Odd Couple” senior citizens – portrayed unforgettably by Earl Lynn Wilson and Paul Eenhoorn – who take a trip to the country of Iceland, and learn how to, and how not to, get along.
Rating: 4.0/5.0
The Foghorn Leghorn machinations of Earl Lynn Wilson blend and clash purposely with the lower keyed Eenhoorn. They both tolerate and love one another, which is the best way to generate drama or comedy, even in the midst of such a simple story. Wilson is a hoot, it’s impossible to make up such a character, and indeed the surgeon-turned-actor will inevitably exclaim, “That’s me, baby!” The veteran actor Eenhoorn clings more to character, but even he gets sucked into the Earl Lynn vortex, and the...

It's been almost two weeks since Arrow Season 1 wrapped up with the fantastic episode "Sacrifice" - and our team has finally had time to digest all the action.
In this edition of the Round Table, staff writers Kate Brooks, Nick McHatton and Carla Day are joined by Hank Otero, theowner of Hank's Entertainment Site, as they debate various aspects of the finale and look ahead to Arrow Season 2.
So pull up a virtual chair and let's do this!
----------------------------------------
Tommy is dead. React!
Kate: Shock. When they revealed the bar through his chest. I yelled "Nooooooooo!!!!" I'm incredibly sad.
Nick: My entire view of the series is upended now because of his death. I think all of us, because of the comics, were expecting Tommy to slowly become Oliver's biggest rival and nemesis. I'll certainly miss Colin on the show every week, and I'm happy his death was one of selflessness and sacrifice.

The word of the Bible versus its actual intent has been the manna for religious leaders and their followers for hundreds, if not thousands of years. The result has been interpretations that run the gamut from the radical, to the conservative to the open-ended. But for most Christians, their concerns with the Bible and how it applies to them runs to the purely practical, and within those pages they seek guidance on how to navigate the murky waters of everyday life. A relationship with God is a constant negotiation, and the documentary "Holy Rollers: The True Story Of Card Counting Christians" (not to be confused with the Jesse Eisenberg movie of the...

The remake of the 1985 fave Fright Night opens this Friday. In the original film the story revolved around high-schooler Charley Brewster who discovers that his new next-door neighbor is a vampire looking to kill, cause chaos, and generally make life hell for the young lad, though no one will believe him. We Are Movie Geeks got a sneak peak at the film last week and liked what we saw. How far does this new one stick to the laughs-and-chills formula of the original? Find out this weekend. The new Fright Night is directed by Craig Gillespie, an Australian film director best known for directing the acclaimed 2007 indie Lars And The Real Girl. Gillespie.s background is in commercials and he won the “Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Commercials” in 2006 for his Ameriquest and Altoids ads. Gillespie took time to speak to We Are Movie geeks About Fright Night.

Colin Firth and Scarlett Johansson are being pursued for roles in Danny Boyle's 'Trance'. The Oscar-winning actor is set to replace Michael Fassbender in the art heist thriller, opposite Scarlett as a character named Elizabeth. It was previously thought James McAvoy - who stars alongside Michael in 'X-Men: First Class' - would be taking over the role, despite already being cast in another character in the film, but Twitch Film now reports 'Slumdog Millionaire' director Danny is keen to get British star Colin on board. However, Scarlett is in competition with 'Star Trek' actress...
