Since the most unsettling aspect about Jonathan Majors’ Kang the Conqueror is that he can never truly be killed, MCU thus appears pumped to unleash multiple versions of the same villain throughout Phase Five. According to Marvel Comics, a variant of Kang can pop up at any time for any reason, and Marvel is willing to go along with these variants in upcoming projects.

Diving into the world of comics reveals an interesting trend. For the longest part of their existence, the team of mutants enjoyed a celebrated status in-universe, at times exceeding those of their more human counterparts. However, in live-action, the group of remarkable actors handpicked by Kevin Feige surpassed both box office and pop culture popularity with 2012’s The Avengers in contrast to the X-Men, which came to life at the hands of Fox, years before.

After the release of ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania,’ the superhero world was rocked by allegations against Jonathan Majors. He played Victor Timely in ‘Loki’ Season 1 and Kang the Conqueror in ‘Quantumania,’ set to be the next big villain in the Multiversal Saga.
Majors’ career has declined since his arrest in March 2023 for allegedly assaulting a woman, rumored to be his girlfriend. He was dropped from several projects, his manager and PR team quit, and several commercials featuring him were pulled.
This marked the end of Majors’ role as MCU’s Kang the Conqueror, leaving the studio in a tough spot. They had built up Kang as the main villain of the Multiversal Saga through both seasons of ‘Loki’ and ‘Quantumania’ but now had to drop their main actor.
Since then, rumors have spread that the studio wants to put Kang on hold for a while, with talks of recasting the character.

Following the release of ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Qunatumania’ the superhero media world was shaken by allegations brought to light against Jonathan Majors, introduced in ‘Loki’ Season 1 as Victor Timely and in ‘Quantumania’ as Kang the Conqueror, the next big villain for the Multiversal Saga.
Jonathan Majors’ career has been in somewhat of a freefall ever since he was arrested in March 2023 after an alleged assault of a woman he knew and was rumored to be his girlfriend. He was laid off from several projects, his manager and PR team quit, and several commercials featuring the actor were pulled.

Marvel Studios had huge plans for Kang the Conqueror prior to actor Jonathan Majors being dropped from the role after being convicted of assault, and while the character is still expected to feature in the MCU in some capacity going forward, we still don't know exactly what Kevin Feige and co. have in store for the powerful villain.
Though Avengers 5 is no longer titled "Avengers: The Kang Dynasty," previous reports have claimed that the character will still appear in a greatly reduced role.
Back in January, Deadline's Justin Kroll responded to the rumor that Coleman Domingo was being eyed to replace Majors.
"See a lot 'who will play Kang next' and 'here is a top contender for Kang' comments this week, and all I’ll say is this, don’t expect that news anytime soon," Kroll wrote in an X post. "There will be plenty of Marvel breaks in...

Most Marvel fans are at their wit’s end because they are absolutely clueless about Kang following the dismissal of Jonathan Majors from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The actor was found guilty of assault and harassing his ex-girlfriend, Grace Jabbari. Sadly, the actor’s exit from the superhero franchise had brought Avengers 5 to a standstill.

Jonathan Majors was supposed to be the next big bad villain for the two upcoming Avengers films, that is Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars.
While the film came to a dead stop for quite some time, it looks like Marvel Studios went back to the planning board and decided to pull the plug on Majors’ Kang the Conqueror for the time being. Since MCU is reportedly looking to focus on other villains than the one they had initially planned.

Avengers, re-assemble!
Variety has reported that Shawn Levy, reliable director of “Night at the Museum,” “Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian,” and “Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb” is “in the mix” to helm the next “Avengers” superhero team-up for Marvel. In late July, his promised-to-be-potty-mouthed R-rated “Deadpool & Wolverine” will hit theaters and, clearly, Marvel’s leader, Kevin Feige, liked what he saw.
Marvel is in desperate need of a course correction after some wobbly entries like “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania,” “The Marvels,” and “Thor: Love and Thunder.” There was once a time when the Marvel opening logo was enough to print money and create cultural resonance, but those days have begun to wane, due in part to a glut of Disney+ streaming shows and the fact that “Avengers: Endgame” really did seem like a nice place to end the story. The word “end...

For a while now, the status of Marvel’s next Avengers movie has been in flux. Back in July 2022, Kevin Feige announced that the Multiverse Saga would offer up two major hero team-up movies: Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, and Avengers: Secret Wars. But in the wake of underperforming Phase 4 movies, and Jonathan Majors being dropped as Kang after an assault conviction, the plan changed – The Kang Dynasty is no more, Shang-Chi’s Destin Daniel Cretton stepped down from directing to focus on Shang-Chi 2 instead, and little has moved since then.

After his very first appearance in Loki season one, his Kang was all set to be the main villain of the superhero world, someone who was going to put Thanos to shame. Kang the Conqueror first appeared in MCU’s ‘Loki’ Season 1, portrayed by Jonathan Majors as He Who Remains. Since then, the character has appeared in various forms, with the latest being Victor Timely in Loki Season 2.
However, Majors’ career faced a setback when he was arrested and later found guilty of third-degree assault. As a result, he was fired from Disney, leaving the role of Kang the Conqueror open for other actors.
We’ve previously mentioned candidates such as Colman Domingo and John David Washington for the role, but it seems another actor was offered the part of Kang and turned it down. In a recent interview with The Direct, Luke James revealed that he declined the role of Kang but expressed keen interest in portraying another character within the MCU.

Among Marvel Studios’ upcoming releases, the ‘Avengers’ series stands out as the most anticipated. With two new installments in development, the journey to the fifth film has been eventful. Following Jonathan Majors’ dismissal in December due to allegations of third-degree assault against his former partner, the film’s direction has become uncertain.
Internally, the title shifted from ‘Kang Dynasty’ to ‘Avengers 5,’ leaving doubts about Kang’s role as the main antagonist. To provide clarity amidst the confusion, we’ve crafted this guide to consolidate all current information about the movie.

Out of all the movies on Marvel Studios’ release schedule, the ‘Avengers’ franchise is undoubtedly the most exciting one. We know that two new ‘Avengers’ movies are in development, and when it comes to the fifth installment in the franchise, we’ve been through a lot in the last few months.
Majors’ was fired back in December after being found guilty of third-degree assault against his former girlfriend, and since then, the direction of the movie is confusing, to say the least. Marvel Studios reportedly wants Deadpool & Wolverine director Shawn Levy director to take charge of The Avengers 5.
In what has so far been a summer characterised by underperforming tentpole films, all eyes are on the upcoming Deadpool & Wolverine to get bums in cinema seats.

Marvel Studios may have finally found a director for the next Avengers movie.
According to both Deadline and THR, Deadpool and Wolverine director Shawn Levy is in talks to helm the project, which was formerly known as Avengers: The Kang Dynasty prior to the departure of Jonathan Majors as the villainous Kang the Conqueror.
The studio reportedly offered Levy the gig in mid-March, but he turned it down at the time as he was still putting the finishing touches on Deadpool and Wolverine and was also working on the final season of Stranger Things.
Apparently, Marvel's decision to "push the film by several months" opened the window of opportunity, and negotiations are now underway.
It sounds like this if far from a done deal, however. Levy is said to have been given the latest script by Michael Waldron, but has not given an answer on whether he will definitely come aboard,...

Director Shawn Levy may be sticking around the Marvel Cinematic Universe a bit longer.
Levy, who helmed this summer’s “Deadpool and Wolverine,” is being eyed by Marvel — though it’s in very early stages — to direct the next “Avengers” movie.
Destin Daniel Cretton, who made 2021’s Marvel movie “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings,” was previously supposed to direct the fifth “Avengers” movie, but he backed out in November 2023. That movie, which is scheduled for May 1, 2026, also does not currently have a title. It was originally named “Avengers: The Kang Dynasty,” but lost that title after Jonathan Majors, who was cast as the time-traveling villain Kang the Conqueror, was convicted of assaulting and harassing his ex-girlfriend. After this untitled “Avengers” movie, the next will be “Avengers: Secret Wars,” set for May 7, 2027.

The Avengers may be assembling for Shawn Levy.
Levy, who is busy putting the final touches on Marvel’s Deadpool & Wolverine, is in contention for the film and may be the studio’s choice to direct the next Avengers film.
The development is characterized as very early. Sources say Marvel and Levy are talking about the project and that the studio gave the latest script to the filmmaker late last week. But sources also say that other filmmakers are in the mix for the high-profile gig.
There is reason for some caution. Marvel previously — and quietly — offered the directing gig to Levy in mid-March, but at that point, the filmmaker turned it down. Scheduling was the concern at the time, as Levy is moving from various duties on Deadpool & Wolverine, which opens July 26, to the last season of Stranger Things. As Deadpool & Wolverine stands ready to save the summer box office, Marvel Studios may be looking to director Shawn Levy to save the Avengers as well. Deadline has heard that Levy has been given Michael Waldron‘s script for the next Avengers movie, and while no decisions have been made, it’s possible the studio may be eyeing him to direct the film.
Deadline adds that Marvel is “still planning to meet with other directors while they wait on a decision from [Levy].” However, he’s got some big projects on his slate. He will be “heavily involved” in the final season of Stranger Things and is also developing a Star Wars movie for Lucasfilm. Even if Levy doesn’t end up directing the next Avengers movie, I’d wager that he definitely has a future at Marvel, particularly as the studio seems to have a lot of faith in Deadpool & Wolverine.

Marvel had a rough year in 2023. Many of its properties underperformed, and they lost their big villain due to Jonathan Majors being fired. Looking forward to their upcoming slate, comic fans have been excited about some of the studio’s projects over the next few years. Will these films help Marvel regain control? The upcoming Thunderbolts film has been one that fanboys have been hoping to see since the MCU started. With some recent news about the property coming up, it seems like the right time to break down what we know about the production.
Who Are The Thunderbolts?
The team first appeared in Marvel Comics in 1997 in an issue of The Incredible Hulk. They seemed to be a new group of superheroes that had arrived on the scene and gained acclaim very quickly. The reader was informed that the group was actually a group of supervillains led by Baron Zemo.

If you thought "Loki" season 2 was confusing, you're not alone: the cast of the Marvel show probably did too, thanks to some purposeful misdirection – or, as executive producer Kevin Wright explained it to Marvel.com, outright lying – that went on behind the scenes during a key moment in production.
The lies in question related to episode 4 of the show's second season, a complicated, climactic chapter that features several key power changes and plenty of mortal peril. In it, Loki (Tom Hiddleston) "prunes" a version of himself from the past, and Brad Wolfe (Rafael Casal) is compelled to prune Renslayer (Gugu Mbatha-Raw), too. The episode ends with the group of timeline-hoppers trying to enact their master plan to save the universe: Victor Timely (Jonathan Majors) steps outside of the Tva's headquarters, attempting to fix the out-of-control Temporal Loom that's threatening to destabilize. Only, it doesn't work: Timely explodes into ribbons of spaghetti-like material,...

When Loki debuted in 2021, fans were introduced to Sylvie (Sophia Di Martino), the variant whose exploits lead the God of Mischief (Tom Hiddleston) deeper into the depths of the Time Variance Authority (Tva) and the conspiracy behind its ruler. As Season 1 unfolded, Sylvie sought to unleash free will, eliminating the forces that tear variants away from their timelines and loved ones as she had been when she was a child. When viewers pick back up with Sylvie in Season 2, she’s doing her best to move on, but even time and a new life set in 1980s Oklahoma isn’t enough to help her escape the past. When Loki and Mobius (Owen Wilson) come crashing back into her life, Sylvie finds herself compelled to help them solve the Tva’s meltdown, which was seemingly sparked by her killing of He Who Remains (Jonathan Majors) in Season 1. While Marvel Studios quietly rethinks its approach to blockbuster entertainment by limiting the content released yearly in theaters and on Disney+, industry insider Daniel Richtman could have a promising update about the next Avengers movie. According to Richtman, who has a decent track record for leaking information about upcoming film projects throughout the industry, principal photography for Avengers 5 begins in the United Kingdom next January. Initially, reports said cameras could roll as early as December, but that appears to have changed.
Richtman says the story for Avengers 5 is “more grounded” than previous chapters of the multi-million dollar-printing franchise. However, Marvel plans to “go big or go home” regarding the Multiverse so that fans can expect plenty of portal-hopping shenanigans as the MCU gets remixed from one adventure to the next. After the release of ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania,’ the superhero media landscape was rocked by allegations against Jonathan Majors, who portrayed Victor Timely in ‘Loki’ Season 1 and Kang the Conqueror in ‘Quantumania,’ set to be a pivotal villain in the Multiversal Saga.
Jonathan Majors’ career took a downturn following his arrest in March 2023 on charges of assaulting a woman rumored to be his girlfriend. Subsequently, he faced layoffs from multiple projects, departure of his manager and PR team, and the withdrawal of several commercials featuring the actor.
Then, nine months after the incident, a guilty verdict was reached, and Majors received a probation sentence. Shortly after, Disney terminated Majors from his role as Kang, the character he portrayed in both seasons of ‘Loki’ and the ‘Ant-Man’ movie.

Like any good superhero, Marvel Television has returned from the dead. The label is what the Marvel Netflix shows like "Daredevil" and the ABC ones like "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." were made under. Marvel Television was rendered defunct in 2019 after Marvel Studios absorbed it. Now, though its operations remain under the studio's purview, its name is being used again as part of an effort to more cleanly delineate the projects of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Marvel Studios will continue to be the label of the films, while Marvel Television will headline upcoming Disney+ programs like "Agatha All Along" and "Daredevil: Born Again." Marvel Animation will cover projects like the excellent "X-Men '97" (which is not part of the MCU), while Marvel Spotlight is for small-scale projects like "Echo" (read our review here).

If you’re not caught up on your peak TV viewing, consider this your spoiler warning. Four months have passed since Jennifer Coolidge bagged her second consecutive Emmy for “The White Lotus” and thus became the eighth drama or comedy series regular honored by the TV academy for a season in which her character died. Emmy nominations of this kind have become quite common in recent years, and it’s possible that over 15% of the 2024 lead and supporting continuing series contenders will be added to the list.
The current consensus among more than 2,400 Gold Derby users is that five continuing series performers whose characters perished within the past year will receive Emmy nominations, while a few others have outside shots at recognition. Now that Jonathan Majors appears in two Netflix movies, Da 5 Bloods and , which performance do you prefer? Let’s unpack how these two roles compare and contrast.
Majors plays David, the loyal and compassionate son of former Vietnam soldier Paul (Delroy Lindo), in Spike Lee’s Da 5 Bloods and a bitter, wronged son in The Harder They Fall. Up front, we should say that the two movies have one amazing connection: Majors co-stars with Lindo in both, and the two actors give great performances in both.
However, as Lindo’s son in Bloods, Majors plays a young man with a much milder temper. As a college professor sporting retro T-shirts and caps worn backward, he is at first fully uninterested in his father’s trip back to Vietnam to try to right a wrong and find a hidden fortune. There are few actors as versatile and intensely arresting as Lakeith Stanfield. Since appearing in Destin Daniel Cretton's Short Term 12 upon graduating from high school, Stanfield has gone on to work with premier talents, including Ava DuVernay, Jordan Peele and Donald Glover. Most recently, he joined his contemporaries Jonathan Majors, Regina King and Idris Elba in Netflix’s thunderous Western The Harder They Fall.

"The Witch" and "The Green Knight" star Ralph Ineson is known for playing imposing, sometimes otherworldly figures (also: a love-to-hate-him character in the UK version of "The Office"), so it's only natural that he'll be playing a supervillain in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. News broke yesterday that Ineson has been cast as Galactus, the planet-eating god figure whom Jack Kirby and Stan Lee first introduced during a Fantastic Four run in the '60s. Galactus appeared in "Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer" in 2007, but this time around, the character will return to a much more interconnected Marvel world beginning with Phase Six kickoff "The Fantastic Four."
Ineson may have just nabbed a major role in the long-running superhero franchise, but this actually isn't the first time he's appeared in an MCU film. A full decade ago, Ineson popped up briefly in "Guardians of the Galaxy," playing a Ravager pilot.

Loki: Hot Toys Unveils "God Loki" Figure, Offering Detailed Look At New Costume From Season 2 Finale
In the closing moments of Loki's season 2 finale, the God of Mischief destroyed the Temporal Loom and created a new, endless Multiverse which he sits at the centre of.
We're sure "God Loki" will eventually return, particularly with Kang gearing up to embark on a Multiversal War and Incursions destroying many of these new realities. Disney CEO Bob Iger says Marvel will continue its “less is more” strategy, with two TV series released per year and a maximum of three films in cinemas.
Disney head honcho Bob Iger has said in the past that he wants the companies under his banner to operate on a quality-rather-than-quantity basis.
