Zack Snyder‘s partnership with Netflix continues as the Rebel Moon director follows up his ode to Star Wars and Seven Samurai with a new anime from The Stone Quarry and Xilam Animation. Xilam Animation is responsible for such projects as Oggy and the Cockroaches, Zig & Sharko, and Chip ‘n’ Dale: Park Life for Disney+, all of which they’ve created and produced. Snyder’s new show, Twilight of the Gods, is an anime that he co-created that’s based on Norse mythology. Netflix has now released a first look at the new dark and violent limited series with previously unreleased images.
The synopsis from Netflix Tudum reads,
“In a mythical world of great battles, great deeds, and great despair, Leif (Stuart Martin), a mortal king, is saved on the battlefield by Sigrid (Sylvia Hoeks), an iron-willed warrior with whom he falls in love. On their wedding night, Sigrid and...

Movie lovers will know that Zack Snyder is a very divisive personality in the world of cinema, as you either love his movies or you hate them. With Snyder, there is no in-between; his vision is so specific that you will either like it completely and enjoy his movies or think it completely ridiculous and consider his movies a failure. His most recent outing, the Rebel Moon series, has been panned by critics as Snyder’s worst work, but the filmmaker’s collaboration with Netflix is still strong, as we know that his animated streaming series titled Twilight of the Gods will be released on Netflix in Fall 2024, although a precise release date has not yet been given.
But we know that the series is going to have its premiere at the 2024 Annecy International Animation Film Festival, and ahead of this first screening, Netflix has released the first images from the series,...

Netflix unveiled first looks at a whole host of its upcoming animated shows and features during an event on Thursday, and Rebel Moon director Zack Snyder was on hand to introduce the first footage from his Norse Mythology series, Twilight of the Gods.
“I love mythology,” said the filmmaker. "On a scale like this, I feel like animation was the greatest way to tell the story.”
First announced way back in 2019, it's taken quite a while to find its way to our screens, but we recently learned that the show will finally premiere on Netflix this Fall.
The project has been described as "Anime-influenced," but judging by these clips, we'd say the animation style has more in common with the Academy Award-nominated Cartoon Saloon studio.
“When most people think about animation, they think about Saturday morning cartoons, or G-rated movies,” said the presentation’s host, Christopher Sean. “But animation is...

Netflix Animation held its first slate preview event June 6 at the Tudum in L.A., as a lead-up to the Annecy Animation Festival (June 9-15), where it will premiere Shannon Tindle’s “Ultraman: Rising” (streaming June 14) and tout some of its upcoming works in 2024 and 2025.
Hosted by Christopher Sean (the voice star of “Ultraman: Rising”), attendees were treated to exclusive presentations, previews, and special announcements. The biggest announcement was the full title of Aardman’s next stop-motion feature, “Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl,” which will have an Oscar-qualifying run this winter before streaming in 2025.
Directed by franchise creator Nick Park and creative director Merlin Crossingham, who offered a pre-recorded introduction, “Vengeance Most Fowl” marks the return of the villainous penguin, Feathers McGraw, from the Oscar-winning short “The Wrong Trousers.” The film is a cautionary tale of high-tech gone wrong involving an out-of-control “smart gnome” with a mind of its own.

We're just a few days away from the premiere of "Ultraman: Rising" on Netflix, the latest addition to the ever-growing animation library of the streamer. Animation has been on shaky ground for the last few years, with the animation guild growing stronger to fight for fair contractions as creatives continue to battle against the dystopian threat of artificial intelligence. Fortunately, animation is still as popular and well-loved as ever, and Netflix has been absolutely crushing it as of late. Not only did the streamer pull in an Academy Award for Guillermo del Toro's "Pinocchio" in 2022, but shows like "Blue Eye Samurai," "Arcane," "Love, Death, & Robots," and movies like "Wendell & Wild," "The Sea Beast," and "The Mitchells vs. the Machines" are some of the best releases of original animation, period.

We mere mortals will be graced with a gift forged in the heavens this fall: mythology, animation, and creator and executive producer Zack Snyder (Rebel Moon). Twilight of the Gods, coming from The Stone Quarry and Xilam animation studios, brings Snyder’s daring and spectacular vision of ancient Norse mythology to life.
In a mythical world of great battles, great deeds, and great despair, Leif (Stuart Martin), a mortal king, is saved on the battlefield by Sigrid (Sylvia Hoeks), an iron-willed warrior with whom he falls in love. On their wedding night, Sigrid and Leif survive a wrath of terror from Thor (Pilou Asbæk), which sets them — and a crew of crusaders — on a merciless mission for vengeance, against all odds. This heroic story of love, loss, and revenge, is a journey to hell and beyond … across fantastical lands, battlefields fierce and bloody, and wars waged against deities...

We’ve known from the start that director Zack Snyder intended to released extended director’s cuts of his movies Rebel Moon: Part One – A Child of Fire (read our review Here) and Rebel Moon: Part Two – The Scargiver (read our review of that one Here), which were rated PG-13 in their shorter form. At the start of this month, we learned that the director’s cut of Rebel Moon: Part One has been given a R rating for brutal bloody violence and gore, sexual content, graphic nudity and language. Now the Motion Picture Association ratings board has revealed that the director’s cut of Rebel Moon: Part Two has been rated R for strong bloody violence and gore throughout, strong sexuality, nudity and some language.

We knew it was only a matter of time, and Screen Junkies has now released an "Honest Trailer" for the second and final(?) movie in Zack Snyder's Star Wars-inspired sci-fi saga, Rebel Moon: Part Two - The Scargiver, aka, "Harvest Moon 2: Pain and Grain."
The guys don't have to work very hard to find things to make fun of here, but this still proves to be one of the funnier Honest Trailers we've seen in quite a while.
There's also a "restore the SnyderVerse" nod in there, but as is often the case, arguably the biggest laughs come from the character name changes ("Phone-In the Barbarian") right at the end.
Have a look at the Honest Trailer for The Scargiver below.
Despite being lambasted by critics, the Rebel Moon movies have pulled in a lot of viewers and performed very well for Netflix, which means we will most...

Both parts of Zack Snyder's Rebel Moon, A Child of Fire and The Scargiver, are now streaming on Netflix, but we know that extended editions of the sci-fi adventures are on the way, and it seems they've been given completely different titles.
Though this has yet to be made official, Film Ratings lists the director's cut of Part 1 as "Rebel Moon - Chapter One: Chalice Of Blood," and the movie has also been given an official R-rating for "brutal bloody violence and gore, sexual content, graphic nudity, and language".
As Snyder has previously noted, it sounds like these extended cuts are going to be significantly more adult-oriented than the standard versions.
"They're each about an hour longer than the originals, the PG-13 [versions]," the filmmaker told I Minutemen in a recent interview. "So it'll be nice to see the six hours together. You can take a break, of course. It's a more,...

But the Rebel Moon saga is far from over, because Zack Snyder’s Director’s Cuts of both movies are coming to Netflix. And they’re said to each be around One Hour Longer.
Of particular note, the Rebel Moon Director’s Cuts will be rated “R,” promising the bloody violence that wasn’t found in the PG-13 versions of the two movies currently on Netflix.

Following a limited theatrical release, director Zack Snyder’s Rebel Moon: Part One – A Child of Fire (read our review Here) was released through the Netflix streaming service back in December, then Rebel Moon: Part Two – The Scargiver (read our review of that one Here) reached the service last month… but we’ve known from early on that these PG-13 versions of the movies wouldn’t be the only versions we’d see. Snyder has also put together extended director’s cut of both films, which will each have around an hour of additional footage. They’re expected to be released through Netflix sometime this summer, possibly in August, and the director’s cut of Rebel Moon: Part One – A Child of Fire just got its rating from the Motion Picture Association ratings board. Zack Snyder’s Rebel Moon – Part Two: The Scargiver is a drastically more watchable film than its predecessor, which spent so much time place-setting that it forgot to tell an actual story. The Scargiver is, essentially, the propulsive second and third acts that Rebel Moon – Part One: A Child of Fire was missing. All the heroes that our heroine, Kora (Sofia Boutella), collected in the first film have finally arrived on the farming planet of Veldt, ready to help defend it against the encroaching fascist armies of the Motherworld. From here, it’s basically the fast and loose Seven Samurai redux that A Child of Fire had been hinting at from minute one, with our legendary heroes helping to prepare this village of pacifist farmers to go to war.

One of TV’s most magnetic pairings split up earlier this year, when Stuart Martin, The Duke of Miss Scarlet and the Duke, announced he wouldn’t reprise his role as William Wellington opposite Kate Phillips (the eponymous Miss Scarlet). It was a huge bummer for fans of the cozy PBS Masterpiece detective drama, who’d waited for the investigative duo to become a romantic one after four seasons. Despite the duke’s proclamation of love at the end of Season 4, it was not to be.

"I have no choice... but to fight!" Here we go again. Netflix has launched the main official trailer for Rebel Moon - Part Two: The Scargiver, the finale of Zack Snyder's sci-fi saga. The first half, Rebel Moon - Part One: A Child of Fire, is now playing on Netflix worldwide after launching in December last year. In a universe controlled by a corrupt militaristic government, the moon of Veldt is threatened by the Imperium, the army of the Mother World controlled by "Regent Balisarius". Sofia Boutella stars as Kora, a former Imperium fighter who rallies warriors from across the galaxy to fight back. Part Two features an ensemble cast lead by Djimon Hounsou,...
