From Kartik Aaryan To Alia Bhatt – Will These Youngsters Redeem Their Lost Glory At Box Office In 2024 (Picture Credit: Facebook)
The year 2024 has already started on a nice note, with Merry Christmas being appreciated and growing by word of mouth. On the other hand, the South Indian film HanuMan is also performing decently at the Hindi Box Office. So far, so good. This satisfactory performance will escalate once Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone fly high with Fighter in two weeks.
However, the year 2024 has been currently grabbing headlines for two reasons – A. Absence of major box office stars – Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Aamir Khan, Ranbir Kapoor, and Ranveer Singh, and B. Ajay Devgn and Akshay Kumar overpopulating the year with as many as eight releases between the two of them.
But if we look at the brighter side, then the year 2024 will give the younger stars an opportunity to...

He said, “My earliest memory of watching a pulp movie is on VHS. With peppy lyrics and groovy beats, ‘Pseudo Saiyaan’, the title track of ‘Cinema Marte Dum Tak’, is currently creating waves. Its composer Sneha Khanwalkar says she wanted to ensure the listeners get transported to the era of pulp genre movies through this number.
Composer and singer Sneha Khanwalkar shared her idea behind the groovy track, “Cinema Marte Dum Tak is an ode to the 90s pulp cinema that were known for its thrills, dialogues and visuals that instantly hooked the audiences, and I wanted the song to exude the same vibe.”

Filmmaker-producer Anand Gandhi, who is known for his films like ‘Ship of Theseus’, ‘An Insignificant Man’ and ‘Tumbbad’, has said that the Kannada sensation movie ‘Kantara’ celebrates toxic masculinity and narrow-mindedness.
Both the films share quite a few things in common such as both are rooted in folk tales, have been breakout hits that nobody really expected and present a story from particular regions of the states of Maharashtra (‘Tumbbad’) and Karnataka (‘Kantara’). But despite these similarities, Anand feels that the two films are largely different in their tone and the message that they wish to convey.
Taking to his Twitter handle on Saturday, Anand, who served as the creative producer on ‘Tumbbad’, wrote, “‘Kantara’ is nothing like ‘Tumbbad’. My idea behind ‘Tumbbad’ was to use the horror as an allegory of toxic masculinity and parochialism. ‘Kantara’ is a celebration of these (sic).”
However, the comment made by Gandhi has stirred a debate on Twitter.

Six years after premiering his debut feature “Loev” in Tallinn – a Lgtbq romantic drama that addressed the problems of the gay minority in India, Sudhanshu Saria is back at Black Nights Film Festival with a film about a young, succesfull woman who is dealing with a series of injustices and a personal drama. Built up around a seemingly simple story about the hardships a single, ambitious woman has to deal with in a deeply patriarchal society, “Saraa” could have turned into another tale about difficult choices many women have to make, if it weren’t for intelligently plotted details about the titular character and her environment.
Saria is not making it easy for Sanaa whose carefully built image of toughness slowly decomposes in front of our eyes. On the other hand, he succeeds in guarding her hard-as-nails image in the storyline itself. When she first appears on screen, Sanaa...

Somewhere in the acquisitive amoral chaos of Vasan Bala’s twisted kingdom, Rajkummar Rao and Huma Qureshi, playing two of the most shamelessly self-serving jerks in recent cinematic history, are down on the floor, wrestling with an Usha Uthup pretender singing ‘Loving You So Much I Want To Kill You.’
Yes, physically wrestling, until one of them is almost dead.
It is a deliciously demonic moment defining the gender-proof nature of human greed. When you are so money-minded that your conscience has gone for a call of nature, then be prepared to battle it out man-to-man, even if you are a woman.
Alas, such delightfully epiphanic moments are hard to come by in Vasant Bala’s first directorial deep-dive since Mard Ko Dard Nahin into the bowels of eccentricity. Playing a dude who doesn’t feel any physical pain no matter...

After debuting at Cannes with his debut feature “Peddlers” and Toronto with his sophomore film “The Man Who Feels No Pain,” director Vasan Bala’s third feature “Monica, O My Darling” is one of the marquee titles of the year for Netflix India.
The film is produced by Matchbox Shots (“Andhadhun”) for Netflix.
Prior to “Monica, O My Darling,” Bala directed episodes of Netflix series “Ray” and was one of the writers on cricket epic “’83.” “Andhadhun” writer Yogesh Chandekar adapted “Monica, O My Darling” from the novel “Burutasu No Shinzou” (“Brutus’ Heart”) by Higashino Keigo, whose “The Devotion of Suspect X” is also getting a Netflix adaptation by Sujoy Ghosh (“Kahaani”).
The neo-noir film follows a slick robotics expert, who becomes embroiled in a series of murders during an affair with fellow employee, the titular Monica. Radhika Apte (“Raat Akeli Hai”) plays the police officer in charge of investigating the case.

Actress Radhika Apte is back to Netflix with her upcoming streaming movie ‘Monica O My Darling’. What’s novel in that – one may ask. Well, it’s her character of a ‘corrupt cop’ that she is essaying for the first time.
While she played a cop in Netflix original ‘Sacred Games’, there the moral compass of her character was intact but in ‘Monica O My Darling’, it’s pretty unpredictably messed up to say the least.
Elaborating on the same, she said, “This character was very out of my comfort zone, I’ve never done comedy before and it was very interesting to play the corrupt cop, quite unashamed and unabashed about her values in life, could be probably most opposite of whatever I am. That was very interesting, it was out of my comfort zone but Vasan had faith (sic).”
The film also stars Rajkummar Rao, Huma Qureshi in prominent roles.

The trailer of the upcoming streaming movie ‘Monica, O My Darling’ was unveiled on Monday. The event was hosted by writer Varun Grover, who has written ‘Masaan’. The trailer, marked with the eponymous iconic track of R D Burman, presents a perfectly sketched who-dunnit thriller and follows the events around a murder and the disposing off of a body.
The trailer, which has oodles of humour, has been smartly cut as it doesn’t reveal anything and keeps the viewers guessing till the end and lingers on the mind long after it gets over.
It shows the enigmatic character of Huma Qureshi calling the shots as a murder mystery unfolds with the needle of doubt pointed at every single character involved in the story. A dead body and three men who set out to dispose it off, trigger the mystery and the drama that ensues.
