The onscreen exploits of stuntwomen, and their off-screen battles for fair and equal treatment, is explored in Stuntwomen: The Untold Hollywood Story, a new documentary from director April Wright for Shout! Studios that debuts September 22 on digital platforms.
Narrated by Fast & Furious franchise star Michelle Rodriquez and based on Mollie Gregory’s 2015 best-seller, the film chronicles the lives of women who perform the stunts in some of Hollywood’s biggest action sequences — from the early days of silent movies to today’s blockbusters. The producers are Stephanie Austin, Michael Gruskoff and Marion Rosenberg.
“These unheralded heroines are the generations of stuntwomen who risked their lives in front of the camera, while behind it they fought for equal rights with male stunt performers, battled sexism and harassment, sustained life-threatening injuries and returned to the fray after each battle,” the producing team said in a joint statement.

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s “The Titan Games” debuts its second season Monday, an installment that features former New York Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz among the six pro-athlete competitors that the show’s “everyday” contestants go head-to-head with in hopes of winning the “Titan Champion” title and a $100,000 prize.
Fans could smell the new level of intensity The Rock was cooking up for Season 2 of his NBC competition series when he announced the addition of elite athletes — including Cruz, Claressa Shields, Joe Thomas, Cruz, Hannah Teter, Jessie Graff and Tyron Woodley — as an obstacle for “The Titan Games'” amateur contestants. And if the everyday people vs. pros aspect, a pro-wrestling legend as host, and a humongous set piece for the final challenge made you draw a comparison between The Rock’s series and the network’s short-lived Hulk Hogan-hosted “American Gladiators” reboot, Cruz is here to vouch for how different the two are.

You don’t need to have perfect vision that Arrow star Stephen Amell is one ripped dude. In order to sell the idea of him being some dark guardian of Star City, he needed to be. After all, like Batman, he is just a man against foes greater and more powerful than himself, so he needed a fit body to counter his adversaries.
In Season 1, they made a joking staple of Amell working that salmon ladder in his training montages. In many ways, the montages became a staple of the show, and so good did they do with it that when Ben Affleck got around to doing his own montage in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, they didn’t do it nearly as well as Arrow.

It looks like all Amell’s hard work is about to get put to good use.

The stuntwomen's feat also saw the NBC competition show finish even with last week's fast-affiliate results among adults 18-49, which went up tenth in final results. Nielsen's numbers were delayed this morning but in many ways last night looks a lot like last Monday. Like on August 22, American Ninja War…...

Just a quick head-up: For those of you in the Los Angeles area, next weekend, April 22-24, marks the occasion for the second annual Artemis Women in Action Film Festival, playing at the newly refurbished Ahrya Fine Arts Theater in Beverly Hills. This festival, a labor of love project from athlete-actress Melanie Wise and writer-producers Sean Newcombe and Zack Baldwin, highlights the cinematic contributions of women in movies, in the stunt field as well as actresses in the realm of action cinema, and also highlights real-life women who have made significant, pioneering contributions to the furthering of women in sports and other traditionally male-dominated arenas.
Wise, an actress, athlete, aspiring filmmaker and one of the founding members of Artemis Motion Pictures, the group behind the festival, remembers her days auditioning for countless roles in TV and movies that amounted essentially to helpless women in peril. But being six feet tall herself,...

In the past I’ve criticised Family Guy’s large scale fight sequences between Peter Griffin and Ernie the Giant Chicken as being nothing but filler. But, despite them being extended non-sequiturs, you can’t fail to admire how epic they are, literally crossing time and space, and featuring some incredibly inventive scenarios and excellent animation.
And now what you’d probably think was nigh-on impossible (or at least exceptionally difficult to do well) has become a reality: a live action recreation of the first Chicken Fight from Season 2 Episode 3 ‘Da Boom’ that saw Peter’s rivalry with Ernie start after Ernie gave him an expired coupon.
Funded through Indiegogo and made on a budget of just under $3,000, Chick Fight sees a gender reversal of Peter and Ernie with the roles of Petra and Ernesta being filled by martial arts experts and professional stunt performers Tree O’Toole and Jessie Graff...
