Exclusive: Carrie Coon (The Gilded Age) is set to appear opposite Lauren Lapkus in Another Happy Day, a postpartum depression comedy marking the feature debut of writer-director Nora Fiffer, which wrapped production last summer in Chicago and will make its world premiere at the Vail Film Festival this Saturday, December 9th.
The film centers on Joanna (Lapkus), a “total nut” who is wearing new motherhood so awkwardly that she remarks candidly “I’m not really a mom, I just have a baby, you know?” This new mom is also an artist who isn’t making any art, and feels truly terrible at taking care of her newborn, as she stumbles through her days. She can’t get her old job back, her old friends have moved on without her, her husband thinks he’s a better mother than she is, she’s terribly sleep deprived, and her baby won’t look at her.

More than 100 artists contributed to our “Our Frasier Remake,” a frame-by-frame redo of a 1994 episode of NBC sitcom “Frasier,” with the Seattle psychiatrist reimagined as a Lego figure, as Claymation and a dazzling array of other animation styles.
The trailer for the indie project, which follows similar projects “Our Robocop Remake and “Our Footloose Remake,” dropped on Wednesday. It will premiere on Oct. 11 in theaters in Los Angeles, Seattle and Austin, the day before the official reboot, which sees Kelsey Grammer returning to his Emmy-winning role, debuts on Paramount+
“Our Frasier Remake” redoes the Season 1 finale, with 185 uniquely animated segments: A different artist is responsible for each section, reimagining it in their own visual style.
Creator/director Jacob Reed said the episode is “a thinly veiled question about whether or not a spin-off of ‘Cheers’ called ‘Frasier’ was worth it.”

Halfway into The Out-Laws, I was wondering if I should get a drink and watch the rest after getting a little buzzed because that would have certainly made this experience more profound. Not that it is any less than when you watch it dead sober. But there is one condition. You need to have a penchant for bad movies, like me. That is the only way you would enjoy The Out-Laws. It is a very obvious bad movie, which fits right into the “so bad that it’s good” genre. This is a movie where a man mistakes another man’s genitals for a ripcord while sky-diving. The same man repeatedly gets his buttocks grabbed by his fiancé’s parents as if nothing happened. Then, during an all-important heist, this man uses a water gun instead of a real one. Yes, it is that kind of movie. With the freedom of R-rating,...

Tyler Spindel’s The Out-Laws is exactly the kind of film that streaming services have promised to showcase for years but have rarely delivered. Written by Ben Zazove and Evan Turner, it’s the sort of breezily pleasurable, mid-budget, and intimately scaled movie that used to be a staple of the video stores that streaming helped to kill.
Tightly wound bank manager Owen (Adam DeVine), on the eve of his nuptials to Parker (Nina Dobrev), finally meets her parents, Billy (Pierce Brosnan) and Lilly (Ellen Barkin), only for his excitement to quickly turn sour when his bank is robbed by bandits whom he strongly suspects are his future in-laws. Before Owen can confirm his suspicions, though, Billy and Lilly get their cover blown by a rival thief (Poorna Jagannathan), who takes Parker hostage to extort her parents, forcing them (and Owen) to commit further robberies to pay her ransom.

Netflix’s The Out-Laws trailer features a bank robbery, car chase, an awkward meeting of potential in-laws, and a reference to James Bond #5. Plus, the trailer includes a very handsome Pierce Brosnan, a description that – according to Richard Kind – isn’t a compliment.
The action comedy comes from director Tyler Spindel and stars Brosnan (Mamma Mia!), Kind (Curb Your Enthusiasm), Adam Devine (Pitch Perfect), Nina Dobrev (The Vampire Diaries), Michael Rooker (Guardians of the Galaxy), and Poorna Jagannathan (The Night Of). Meeting your partner’s parents can be challenging. Regardless of your confidence in your relationship, a wrong move with the parental units can spell disaster for your future. For Adam Devine‘s Owen Browning, he never banked on his fiancee’s parents being accomplished bank robbers. This hurdle is a tricky jump for Owen, a by-the-books bank manager, and all-around goofball. In Netflix‘s The Out-Laws trailer, Owen and his fiancee Parker (Nina Dobrev) discover Parker’s parents are the notorious Ghost Bandits, and they need the couple’s help to get them out of a jam.
Tyler Spindel directs from a script by Evan Turner and Ben Zazove (Sherlock Gnomes). The official synopsis says, “Owen Browning (Adam Devine) is a straight-laced bank manager about to marry the love of his life, Parker (Nina Dobrev). That's right: 12 years after being fired by the Smithsonian, Rip Digman is coming out of retirement and eager to prove he's still got what it takes to be a world-class "Archie." To quote the man, the myth, the legend himself in the newly-unveiled "Digman!" trailer, "The only dating I'm interested in ... is carbon dating."

Yes, it’s good to be the king. But sometimes it’s nearly as good to be part of a legacy project initiated four decades ago by indisputable Hollywood comedy royalty — in this case, legendary writer, director, producer and performer Mel Brooks’ “The History of the World, Part 2.”
That was the prevailing spirit among the all-star assembly of contemporary comedy stars who turned out for the premiere of Hulu’s long-awaited follow-up to Brooks’ 1981 comedy classic “The History of the World, Part I,” the bulk of whom appear in the irreverent, sketch-style series and worship at the altar of the signature uproarious style of its creator, who – at age 96 – also serves as executive producer, narrator and overall guiding light.

If you've never watched the 1981 Mel Brooks film "The History of the World, Part I," now is the time to do it. All these years later, a sequel series, "The History of the World, Part II," is hitting Hulu in March. Even if you haven't seen it, you've definitely heard people quote it, from the Torquemada musical number in The Spanish Inquisition segment to lines like, "It's good to be the king," and the "No, no, yes" song from Madeline Kahn. I feel pretty confident when I say that it's one of the funniest movies of all time, and I'm hardly alone in that sentiment.
"History of the World, Part I" is irreverent and absolutely stupid in the most wonderful way, and even after dozens of viewings, I still giggle to myself about parts of it whenever they cross my mind. Not only did Brooks write, direct, and star as Moses,...

It’s a common refrain: Mel Brooks, the comedy mastermind behind “The Producers” and “Space Balls,” could never make a Mel Brooks movie in today’s climate. Well, Mel Brooks made a Mel Brooks series, Hulu’s “History of the World, Part II,” in this very climate.
Nick Kroll, who is a main executive producer, star, and director on the upcoming eight-episode sequel to 1981’s “History of the World, Part I,” told TV critics that the times-have-changed notion is overblown. “I don’t think it’s as tricky to navigate doing comedy right now as people would like to imagine,” Kroll said at Saturday’s Television Critics Association winter press tour. “You just have to be funny.”
Fortunately for Kroll, he and Brooks are very funny. As are the dozens of other comedians and comedic actors who jumped at the chance to work with Brooks, their shared comedy hero. And...

Back in 1981, between “High Anxiety” and “Spaceballs,” Mel Brooks released “History of the World Part I,” a parody of epic films where at least part of the joke was that there was never going to be a Part II. But after 40 years, that’s no longer the case, as “History of the World Part II,” a limited series follow-up to the film is set to premiere on Hulu March 6. The streamer announced the news January 13, in addition to releasing a teaser for the sketch series.

And like its predecessor, “History of the World Part 2” takes aims at numerous literal and figurative sacred cows.

Ryan Murphy is continuing his reign over Netflix.
His real-estate thriller The Watcher is the most-watched series on Netflix for the second week in a row, with 148.2M hours viewed. That’s in addition to the 125M hours it racked up in its first week on the streamer, totaling 273.2M hours viewed since release.
In its second week, The Watcher made it to the top of the charts in 65 countries — compared to 90 countries in the first week of release.
After launching on October 13, The Watcher dethroned Murphy’s other new series, the Evan Peters-led Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, from the top of the Netflix Top 10 chart. The serial killer series had spent 21 days in first place, helping it to become Netflix’s second most-popular English-language series of all time.
Dahmer now remains in second place on the Netflix Top 10 list, with 69.11M additional hours viewed last week.
