There is nothing like having friends over for a good meal and conversation. That’s the basis for AMC Networks’ In the Kitchen with Harry Hamlin. The series on AMC+ and IFC shows the renowned actor, writer, and entrepreneur Harry Hamlin cooking delicious dishes with his niece and Le Cordon Bleu School-trained chef Renee Guilbault for famous guests. The pair hosted a holiday special with a similar format, which ended up being just the appetizer for what was to come. Each of the five episodes brings in another star-filled dinner party including Hamlin’s wife Lisa Rinna (Real Housewives of Beverly Hills), Bobby Moynihan (Saturday Night Live), Ted Danson (Curb Your Enthusiasm), Mary Steenburgen (Book Club), Dean Norris (Breaking Bad), Tongayi Chirisa (Anne Rice’s Mayfair Witches) and Ed Begley Jr. (Better Call Saul) to name a few. Here Guilbault shares what it was like growing up with her Uncle Harry,...

A year and a half ago, AMC — the network that brought us Mad Men and Breaking Bad — debuted a new adaptation of Anne Rice's Interview with the Vampire. While fans of the Neil Jordan movie and blind casting haters panned the show, the press and real viewers raved about the unexpected hit.
In the show, the immortal vampire recounts his tragic biography to a journalist, sharing his memories of becoming a bloodsucker and his relationship with a close friend. The enthusiastic reception allowed the show to return for a second season, which was intended to cement Interview with the Vampire's status as one of the best and most underrated shows of our time. And it did just that.
So far, four out of eight episodes have aired, and each of the four chapters of the new season has received over 8.0 on IMDb, and the second season's rating on...

If Sir Elton John‘s career had only spanned the 1970s, he would still be a music legend, an icon of glam and progressive rock. Fortunately, he forged on, segueing into each new era of rock and branching into film and Broadway with comparable success and his signature aplomb and style. We’ve undertaken a nearly impossible task — narrowing a huge catalogue of memorable compositions down to the 25 best.
John was born Reginald Kenneth Dwight on March 25, 1947, and showed an affinity for playing the piano at a young age. In 1967, he answered an ad for songwriters and met Bernie Taupin, which led to a long and successful collaboration, with Taupin writing lyrics to which John composed music. It took a few years of struggling, but in 1970 they had their first top ten hit with “Your Song.” In 1972, “Honky Chateau” became his first of seven consecutive number one albums in a three-year period.

Mark Johnson has produced some of the most distinctive movies and TV shows of the past 40 years. Think “Good Morning, Vietnam,” “Rain Man,” “The Notebook,” “The Holdovers,” “Breaking Bad” and “Better Call Saul.”
Yet Johnson was a surprise choice by AMC Networks to lead its massive investment in building out the Anne Rice literary universe in multiple TV series. AMC bought the TV rights to Rice’s literary vault of Southern Gothic vampire tales in 2020.
Four years later, AMC has two successful Rice-based series on the air — “Interview With the Vampire” and “Mayfair Witches” — and a third hot prospect in development: “Talamasca,” which explores a mysterious society within the Rice universe. Johnson had little experience with the fantasy and horror genres. But he was the perfect person to steer the Rice initiative, in part because he’s not steeped in the conventions and tropes of fantasy fiction, according to Dan McDermott,...

Lana Del Rey covered a song from Madonna‘s most famous movie. Del Rey is so much better suited to the tune than the Material Girl ever was. Interestingly, Del Rey explained why she decided to cover the track in the first place and it had nothing to do with her feelings about Madonna. Instead, Del Rey intended her cover as a tribute to another prominent musician.
A song written for Madonna’s movie ‘Evita’ inspired a great cover
Madonna’s movie Evita is based on the musical of the same name by Broadway legends Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice. Most of the songs in Evita were from the original stage show, with the exception of “You Must Love Me,” which Lloyd Webber and Rice crafted for the film.

This article contains spoilers for Interview with the Vampire episode 3 and Anne Rice’s Vampire Chronicles novels.
AMC’s Interview with the Vampire episode 3 “No Pain” introduces a character from a future book in the Anne Rice Immortal Universe. In the opening scene, Daniel Molloy’s (Eric Bogosian) ongoing study of the undead is intercepted by “a live one.” The stranger implies knowledge of dubious doings behind the scenes in the insular vampire world. The long-form journalist wonders who this interloper is, and even scribbles “MI6?” on his notepad. He’s not that far off. Raglan James (Justin Kirk) certainly does belong to a secret organization, but he could also be anyone.
Anne Rice lets the vampire Lestat de Lioncourt (Sam Reid) tell the story of Raglan James, the title character of The Tale of the Body Thief, the fourth book in The Vampire Chronicles. It begins in Miami, a “city of water,...

The new season of “Interview With the Vampire” offers plenty of immortal pleasures for the patient fans of AMC’s Anne Rice adaptation. But for production designer Mara LePere-Schloop, Season 2 also fulfilled the artistic promise that first attracted her to the project — the Théâtre des Vampires.
“Living in New Orleans, it was really an exciting exercise to think about how we could tell that story and showcase the city in Season 1,” LePere-Schloop tells Variety. “But more than anything, I really wanted to sink my teeth into this theater and the coven.”
The theater, which made its debut in Episode 2, is among the most beloved parts of Rice’s 1976 novel, the latter half of which finds Louis (Jacob Anderson) and Claudia (Delainey Hayles) joining a coven that lives in plain sight in Paris as a grotesque theater troupe. The series updates the period from Rice’s 1800s to the 1940s, with...

When artists are compared to The Beatles, it’s usually meant as a compliment. However, Michael Jackson was upset when someone said The Jackson 5 were “the Black Beatles.” He had a point! On top of that, The Beatles and The Jackson 5 left behind very different legacies.
The Beatles and The Jackson 5 both inspired Saturday morning cartoons
Jermaine Jackson was a member of The Jackson 5. In his 2011 book You Are Not Alone: Michael, Through a Brother’s Eyes, Jermaine revealed that Motown had Fred Rice, the same marketing genius who helped The Beatles take over the world, merchandise The Jackson 5. The group inspired toys, clothing, and hair care products.
“He even started talking to New York animators Rankin/Bass, the makers of ABC’s The King Kong Show, about turning us into cartoon characters,” Jermaine wrote. “‘I’m going to have your faces everywhere,’ he said. ‘You’re the Black Beatles.

AMC masterfully transposes Anne Rice’s Interview with the Vampire from unique literary expression to a cinematic episodic television experience. As series creator and executive producer Rolin Jones told an enthusiastic crowd at an advance screening at the 92nd Street Y in Manhattan, these are two different art forms, with their own artistic needs and devotees. Changes are necessary for the proper telling, and the contemporary audience at large.
Claudia is five years old in the 1976 book. Her age is the very heart of the story because Anne Rice wrote the novel while mourning the death of her daughter, Michele. Modern sensitivities resist the tortured distinction, and the network provides respectful distance. The series’ acting part is even updated, with Delainey Hayles taking the young vampire role originally portrayed by Bailey Bass. There are several alterations in the adaptation...

Interview With the Vampire is back for another bite.
Sunday’s second season premiere finds Louis and Claudia traversing the European countryside in search of others like them. It’s been four years since the duo left Lestat for dead back in New Orleans, and even though Claudia is still furious with Louis for not burning their maker’s body, she’s not as angry as she once was. Baby vampire, baby steps — makes sense.

What is the price of being immortal? The true bane of immortality is erosion, where memories elongate and distort over time, and our perceptions of people ebb and flow with the power of hindsight and the lull of nostalgia. If an immortal were to narrate their lives on record, recount every delightful and traumatic memory in vivid detail, would these accounts be considered "truth"? This crucial question lies at the heart of the season 2 premiere of "Interview with the Vampire," which builds on the slanted truth of its first season and deepens the distortions of experiencing emotions that never end.
The AMC show has already proven its ingenuity in adapting a classic novel series that is beloved and controversial. It has identified the core appeal of Anne Rice's "The Vampire Chronicles" by leaning on the novel series' danger-tinged...

Tom Cruise has made one thing crystal clear when it comes to stunts, he’s practically invincible, and there’s nothing he can’t pull off. Yet, now that he’s seemingly conquered everything there is to be conquered in the stunt world, fans are itching for him to return to some of his villainous roles.
Tom Cruise in Mission: Impossible (1996)
With a career spanning decades and a resume that includes nearly every stunt imaginable, Cruise’s return to portraying compelling antagonists seems like the most logical next step to his fans. It’s not just fans who are eager for this, even esteemed figures like Scott Derrickson, the director behind Doctor Strange, have recognized the brilliance of Cruise’s past performances in thrillers. Review: Timed perfectly to Halloween, the 2022 debut of Interview with the Vampire beautifully updated the first volume in Anne Rice’s vast series for a new generation. With a young cast and a more overt take on the homoerotic elements of the novels, AMC’s series was designed to kickstart a cinematic universe of adaptations from the author’s works. While Mayfair Witches did not work as well, the second season of Interview with the Vampire is a welcome return to the stories of Louis, Claudia, Lestat, and more. Billed as “Part II,” the second season chronicles the back half of Rice’s novel.

Anne Rice is a prolific gothic horror novelist who has eternally changed the shape of vampire fiction. Anne’s literature has flourished for decades, but the film and TV adaptations of her best works have been a mixed bag. Many audiences were ready to dismiss Anne Rice’s Interview with the Vampire when it first premiered on AMC in 2022, only for it to rise from its grave as one of the year’s best series – horror or otherwise. Interview with the Vampire perfectly captures Rice’s painful pathos that uses the veil of supernatural storytelling and monstrous creatures to explore the human condition. Interview with the Vampire’s second season elevates its moving character development to greater heights and improves upon everything that already worked so well in its debut season. It’s a tale as old as time. Boy meets vampire. Boy becomes vampire. Vampires become a messy couple, adopt a teen vampire who grows to hate them, and someone ends up getting their throat slashed during a gory, garish 1939 Mardi Gras party. Well, maybe not as old as time, but definitely as old as Anne Rice’s seminal 1976 gothic bestseller, Interview With the Vampire. And in AMC’s luscious, pitch-perfect adaptation, which is returning for its second season, Rice’s iconic characters—New Orleans scion Louis de Pointe du Lac (Jacob Anderson); the cruel, sexually voracious, centuries-old bloodsucker who turned him, Lestat de Lioncourt (Sam Reid); and their perpetual-adolescent “daughter” Claudia (Delainey Hayles)—are heading abroad to tackle the novel’s brutal second half. “I’d say actually Part 2 is even more faithful to the book than the first season in many ways,” previews Game of Thrones alum Anderson.

“I don’t know another character like this.” So says Delainey Hayles, Interview With the Vampire‘s new Claudia, who takes over the once-in-a-lifetime role from Bailey Bass in Season 2. Hayles had very little time between booking the role and the start of filming, she tells TV Insider. Her guiding light (her “spark in the dark“) through the quick turnaround was Anne Rice’s 1976 novel, and her onscreen vampire family, Jacob Anderson and Sam Reid. Given the attention to every lush detail in both Rice’s novel and Rolin Jones‘ AMC adaptation, Hayles tell us that “it was very clear how I was going to approach Claudia.” Translating Bass’ performance into her own was an exciting challenge. “I think Bailey did an amazing job in Season 1,” Hayles says of her predecessor. She was “able to pick up where [Bailey] left off” because of how clearly established that fledgling vampire was. Anderson...

Anne Rice’s Interview with the Vampire season 2 will open with a new Parisian location, and fresh blood. AMC’s playbill says the part of Claudia has been recast with Delainey Hayles. Roxane Duran joins as the dollmaker Madeleine, a tragic figure with worse pains to suffer. The latest trailer also features a new, albeit secondary, antagonist, Santiago (Ben Daniels). The television industry is at the beginning of an era that can be termed “the great rebundling,” said AMC Networks CFO Patrick O’Connell.
Speaking at a J.P. Morgan conference on Tuesday, O’Connell pointed to the Disney-Charter deal as a model for streaming services moving forward. He argued with more bundling, and more ad-supported linear networks being added to the paid TV ecosystem, these packages will be a better value for customers, rather than subscribing to several streaming services, which have been raising prices and cutting down content spend.
“It’s going to take some time for that to fully play out over the course of 18 to 24 months of affiliate cycle renewals, but we think the tide is turning,” O’Connell said. “And in the interim, what we’re doing at AMC is ensuring that we’re de-risking our financial profile, in light of the fact that the business model was shifting in this way.
