Is the X-Men Comics Relaunch Testing Heroes and Rosters for Future MCU Appearances? - Main Image
Marvel is bringing back its band of merry mutants in X-Men: From the Ashes starting this July 2024, testing out new rosters and storylines for comic books as the mutants deal with the aftermath of the fall of their island nation, Krakoa.
Coming hot on the heels of the acclaimed run of X-Men ‘97, this new era of X-Men in the comics may also inspire future appearances, especially since a second season of the animated series and plans for a big-screen MCU debut are both in the works.
In X-Men, Cyclops leads Beast, Magneto, Psylocke, Kid Omega, Temper, Magik, and Juggernaut from their new base in Alaska to identify and combat new threats to mutantkind. From New Orleans, mutant renegades Rogue, Wolverine, Nightcrawler, Gambit, and Jubilee team up in Uncanny X-Men, reminiscent of the classic Blue Team,...

X-Men ’97 had a lot of fun easter eggs that took fans by surprise, be it the reveal that Peter actually found Mj after the end of Spider-Man: The Animated Series or the various cameos from characters like Captain America, Daredevil, and Spider-Man. The finale of the show, also snuck in a few more hidden details, one that is directly connected to Chris Claremont’s run with the X-Men in the comics.
Forge in X-Men ’97 / Marvel Animation
X-Men ’97‘s final episode saw the X-Men scattered across time, with Forge left to pick up the pieces of Magneto’s assault on humanity in the present day. However, the character is visited by his old friend (or rather old friend-to-be) Bishop, who drops a very important piece of information, that is absent even in the comics.

Big changes are coming to the world of the X-Men later this year, including the introduction of an officially sanctioned mutant strike force in X-Force.
Now, you can check out all-new variant covers for the debut issue including a group shot by Mahmud Asrar, the first in a series of character pinups by Marcus To, and a "Windowshades" variant cover by Luciano Vecchio.
In addition to Havok, Angel, Pyro, Frenzy, and Feral, the new variant covers also reveal two more recruits: reliable X-Man Dr. Cecilia Reyes and Xyber, a new character whose electronic-based powers are essential to the team's covert missions.
Whether they join for fame, money, or to truly make a difference, they'll band together against emerging mutant factions like the Mutant Underground and X-Term. But mutants know better than anyone to be wary of political machinations, and their loyalty will be tested right off the bat when they...

While the X-Men's mission forces them to work outside the law, certain teams have found ways to fight for mutant rights within the system as officially sanctioned strike forces.
In the upcoming "From the Ashes" era, that tradition continues in a new volume of X-Factor from Eisner-winning writer Mark Russell (Fantastic Four: Life Story) and acclaimed X-Men artist Bob Quinn (Captain America).
Formed by the government in response to a post-Krakoa outbreak of mutant paramilitary, ops squads, and mercenary teams, X-Factor will be co-led by Angel and Havok and include recruits like Pyro, Frenzy, Feral, and more.
Part special agents for missions that require an arsenal of superpowers and part celebrity propaganda machine, X-Factor will wage war against emerging factions like the Mutant Underground and X-Term. Whether they believe in their actions or are just doing it for a check, the members of X-Factor are no fools when it comes to shady politics.

This X-Men ’97 article contains spoilers.
“Tastes like chicken.” If that phrase brings to mind the evil mutant the Blob chowing down on the Wasp’s corpse, then the ending of X-Men ’97‘s eighth episode, “Tolerance Is Extinction Part One,” should send shivers down your spine.
After all, Magneto’s decision to attack the entire planet Earth in X-Men ’97 has a lot in common with the inciting event of Ultimatum, the 2009 Marvel event that somehow made the already grim and edgy Ultimate Marvel Universe even grimmer and edgier, to very mixed results.
The connections between Ultimatum and “Tolerance Is Extinction Part One” only stand out more when one considers all of the many cameos in the episode, which showed that anti-mutant bigotry isn’t just limited to the X-Men, but it affects the entire Marvel Universe.
Here’s a breakdown of all the cameos in the star-studded episode...

This article contains spoilers for X-Men ’97 episode 4.
Rising from the ashes of X-Men: The Animated Series like a Dark Phoenix, X-Men ‘97 has done a stellar job of bringing fan-favorites like Scott, Jean, and Wolverine back into the fray. While Marvel Studios’ producer Brad Winderbaum has revealed that production is already underway for seasons 2 and 3, some sneaky hints suggest that the lineup of this colorful cartoon caper could soon look a little different.
The Original X-Men
X-Men ‘97 has largely stuck with the series staples of X-Men: The Animated Series, albeit with the additions of Morph and Bishop while swapping out Professor Xavier for a reformed Magneto. Several Easter eggs have referenced both old and new teams, with the season premiere reminding us the current roster is far from the original lineup of Charles Xavier’s Gifted Youngsters.
A nostalgic picture of the “original” team is on display at the school.

This X-Men ’97 article contains spoilers.
“They shall know my Inferno!” cries the Goblin Queen early in X-Men ’97‘s third episode. Now, the Goblin Queen has had a rough day, which began with her thinking that she was the real Jean Grey and ended with the revelation that she was a clone created by evil (but fashionable) geneticist Mr. Sinister. Her heel turn came so quick that she really didn’t have time to workshop her villain monologues.
Whatever the shortcomings in her baddie banter, the Goblin Queen makes up for it with evil powers. She immediately begins transforming the X-Mansion into a Hellscape, complete with a giant head in an elevator and a vision of Xavier as a monster from the anime classic Akira. Wild as these transformations are, they have nothing on the comic book storyline that inspired it.

As I’ve said previously Tna know how to put a pay-per-view together, hopefully this show continues that trend.

As movies and TV shows have become the dominant mode of superhero storytelling, some comic writers have crossed mediums with the characters they pen. Allan Heinberg wrote a brief run on "Wonder Woman" and years later wrote the screenplay for the 2017 "Wonder Woman" movie. Brian Michael Bendis, the defining Marvel Comics writer of the 2000s, sat on Marvel Studios' now-disbanded "creative committee." James Gunn, as the co-head of DC Studios, has brought writer Tom King into the fold.
"Deadpool & Wolverine," which brings the 20th Century Fox side of Marvel into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, is the latest example of this; one of the movie's five credited co-writers is Zeb Wells, who also wrote an episode of "She-Hulk: Attorney at Law." For some Marvel Comic fans, however, his name lives in infamy.
Now, Wells' "X-Men" related work is well-regarded. The 18-issue series "Hellions" was like a mutant version of "Suicide Squad...

Match #1: Nic Nemeth def. Trey Miguel The following is courtesy of tnawrestling.com:
After defeating Zachary Wentz last week, Nic Nemeth must now lock horns with another Rascal in Trey Miguel! Nemeth clotheslines Miguel over the top rope to the floor. Wentz provides a momentary distraction, allowing Miguel to take him out with a dive. Back in the ring, Miguel rakes the eyes, then drives Nemeth shoulder-first into the steel ring post. Nemeth creates separation with a mid-air dropkick to counter Miguel’s springboard. Nemeth delivers repeated elbow drops but Miguel kicks out. Wentz trips up Nemeth in the corner and the referee ejects him from ringside. Miguel soars with the Meteora off the distraction but it’s not enough.

Harry and Helen realized how difficult dealing with teenagers is.
Since the series began, Harry and Harry have been in denial regarding their own children, and True Lies Season 1 Episode 5 gave them a dose of reality.
Dealing with their daughter Dana and later a teen hacker showed them they had lots to learn about parenting teenagers.
Many parents get engrossed in their careers and don't realize how quickly their teenager has matured. Both Dana and Harry had valid points.
How often have children called their parents at work, thinking it's the end of the world because their priorities aren't the same as real-world concerns?
While Dana was old enough to decipher the difference, she didn't know her dad was in the middle of a government mission.
She assumed he was working on a boring sales pitch that teens typically make fun of. She may respect Harry more if and when...

Welcome back to another review of Aew Dark: Elevation, which features eight matches this week. We’ve got regulars Paul Wight and Matt Menard on commentary as usual. So let’s get into the review!
Match #1: Nyla Rose and Marina Shafir def. Sandra Moone and J-Rod
My Thoughts: Well this was an interesting surprise. I expected a squash but no, Rose and Shafir let their opponents put some work in and this came off as more competitive than even the patented Aew “quasi-squash”. Great start to this week’s show!
My Score: 2.5 out of 5 Match #2: Brian Cage def. Rob McKnight
My Thoughts: Now This was a squash match! Everything Rob McKnight tried to do was totally no-sold by Cage, who eventually trapped McKnight in the King Kong Clutch for the win.
My Score: 1 out of 5 Match #3: Juice Robinson def. Titus Alexander
My Thoughts: Much like the first match on this show,...
