James Gunn has plans to bring the most ruthless assassin in the DC comics into his film universe. Gunn recently gave a hint that Slade Wilson aka Deathstroke will be a part of the Dcu. The supervillain is an archenemy of the Teen Titans and has also gone face-to-face with Batman and the entire Justice League. Gunn recently announced a Teen Titans project, which makes it even more convenient for a major Deathstroke appearance.

The character was an elite operative in the U.S. Army who gained enhanced physical and mental abilities from a super-soldier serum. Joe Manganiello portrayed the character in a brief appearance in Zack Snyder’s Justice League but further plans for the character went nowhere.

This summer, Marvel Comics will relaunch the X-Men family of titles in what's being called the "From the Ashes" era. First up is the new X-Men series that will see Cyclops lead a new team, with Magneto serving as what writer Jed MacKay describes as their "spiritual centre."
Talking to IGN, he explains, "This is very much a series about rebuilding. It's a series about finding your place in a world that you thought you'd left behind, and essentially taking the wreckage of something and trying to build something new from it, which we see sort of thematically and also quite literally."
"I mean, the X-Men are flying around in the Marauder, too. They're living in a Sentinel factory that they have salvaged - a former Orchis facility that they now live in," MacKay adds. "So this sort of scavenging and repurposing of what came before in order to construct...

Back in March, we learned that playwright turned feature scribe Ana Nogueira had been tapped to pen the Teen Titans screenplay after impressing studio bosses James Gunn and Peter Safran with her work on Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow.
Nogueira was quietly hired to pen a Supergirl movie for Warner Bros. when the studio was developing a Sasha Calle-led The Flash spin-off. The Scarlet Speedster’s solo outing was in post-production at the time but the project was scrapped when Gunn and Safran took charge of DC Studios and moved on from Walter Hamada’s planned Dceu slate.
DC Studios co-ceo James Gunn has just been asked on Threads about rumours Teen Titans will begin shooting in late 2024. The Superman helmer has yet to confirm the project is in development and responded with "No" when the question about that start date was put to him.

The Dcau has constantly pushed boundaries when it comes to storytelling in the animated medium. The popular Timmverse of the ‘90s and 2000s dealt with mature themes that were seldom spoken about in the medium which was usually aimed at children. With Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths, the team seems to have gone for a radical design that took a while for studios to understand.
Based on the popular comic book arc of the same name, Crisis on Infinite Earths sees multiple universes collide and DC’s beloved heroes meeting alternate versions of themselves. The storyline is split into three parts in the Dcau, with the third and final part set to be released later this year.

The Teen Titans show is one of the most iconic animated offerings from DC. It is in the same league as the studio’s other animated shows such as Batman: The Animated Series and Justice League. Animator Glen Murakami, who also worked on the aforementioned shows, worked on Teen Titans as a showrunner and brought the comic book team to the forefront.
While the Teen Titans began in the ‘60s, the comic book did not gain fame until its ‘80s revival in the form of Marv Wolfman and George Pérez’s The New Teen Titans, by which the show was inspired. Murakami revealed in an interview that DC wanted a do-over from the comics in the show as they were primarily a response to Marvel’s X-Men.

Animator and showrunner Glen Murakami’s legendary show Teen Titans has been one of the most beloved animated DC shows. While many are fans of DC’s other classic animated offerings such as Batman: The Animated Series and Justice League, Murakami’s show had a different edge and tone that made it perfect for both children and adults.
Teen Titans brought the underrated comic to the forefront as characters such as Robin and Cyborg became much more than their usual sidekick personas. The show also gave more of an edge to Robin, bringing him out of Batman’s shadow. One decision that Glen Murakami took to make sure the series was better than other DC shows was to make it both kid and adult-friendly.

Last year was a standout year for animation, and 2024 is already shaping up to be another banger. While a majority of the high-profile animation releases are due out later this summer, the first quarter of 2024 has already been promising. We at /Film are constantly singing the praises of animation as a medium, and doing our best to course-correct the ignorant idea that animation is only for children. Admittedly, this list is going to look mighty small for the time being, but it will be updated throughout the year as more films become available. As we noted last year, animation is one of the only mediums where global cinema is given an equal footing to studio-produced films in America, with the artistic visuals serving as a universal language that we can all enjoy. Meaning, this list is not limited to Hollywood animation releases ... and that's a good thing. As for now,...

A live-action adaptation of DC Comics’ Teen Titans is officially in the works for James Gunn and Peter Safran’s DC Studios.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, screenwriter Ana Nogueira is already on board to write the script. Nogueira, recognizable for acting roles in CW’s The Vampire Diaries and Starz’s Hightown, is also working on DC’s Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, set to star Milly Alcock.
The announcement makes Teen Titans the first film added to the initial run of DC Universe productions Gunn revealed back in January 2023. It remains to be seen how or when it will slot into what’s being called Chapter One: Gods and Monsters, but Gunn, Nogueria, and the DC team have plenty of options.
Made up of superhero “sidekicks,” the Teen Titans were originally introduced in 1964 in The Brave and the Bold #54. Founding members included Robin, Wonder Girl, Kid Flash, and Aqualad.

DC and Marvel have given the world some of the greatest characters in pop culture: Spider-Man, Batman, Superman, and D-Man. The live-action Titans series had tremendous potential, from its source material to the pedigrees of the talent bringing the heroes to television. Titans failed to work from the first episode to the last. As a television series, it needed a bigger budget for better effects, and the caliber of actors needed to be stronger to pull off these larger-than-life personalities.
Most of the storylines were drawn from Marv Wolfman and George Pérez’s seminal run from the early 1980s or the early issues from Geoff Johns and Mike McKone’s run in the 2000s. Both required a consistent tonality along with a budget to make the scope of the stories work.
In the fourth and final series, out now on disc from Warner Home Entertainment, the series tackled both Lex Luthor and Brother Blood. Either one could easily have been the Big Bad for these last dozen episodes, but they split the focus and,...

As Christopher Nolan's Manhattan Project study "Oppenheimer" takes over the box office this weekend, news is out that Doctor Manhattan is coming back to the big screen. Following a screening of "Justice League: Warworld" at this year's San Diego Comic-Con, DC Studios announced the first-ever animated adaptation of the beloved "Watchmen" comics is finally readying for release.
News that an animated "Watchmen" movie was in the works at Warner Bros. came out way back in 2017, but there have been little to no updates since. DC unveiling a new logo for not only this project but an animated "Crisis on Infinite Earths" movie as well came as a welcome surprise to Sdcc attendees.

Could Iron Man cross paths with Batman? Might Spider-Man trade quips with The Flash? Perhaps Thanos and Darkseid could have a chat about the Anti-Life Equation over tea and cucumber sandwiches? It’s hard to imagine the two biggest comic-book franchises joining forces on the big screen, but a Marvel DC crossover isn’t completely out of the realm of possibility now that James Gunn has taken over DC Studios.
While speaking with Empire, James Gunn spoke about a possible Marvel DC crossover. “I’m certain that’s more likely now that I’m in charge [at DC],” Gunn said. “Who knows?” Before you start getting too excited, nothing has been seriously discussed, and Gunn said that the DC Universe needs to establish itself before they consider any type of crossover event. “That’s many years away, though,” Gunn said. “I think we have to establish what we’re doing [at DC] first. George Pérez, whose work for Marvel and DC made him one of the most acclaimed comic book artists over the last five decades, died today at age 67 of complications from pancreatic cancer.
Pérez worked on many top titles during his long career, including launching the New Teen Titans in 1980 with writer Marv Wolfman.
But their most massive achievement came late in the ’80s when they helped reshape the DC Universe with Crisis on Infinite Earths, a reboot that saw several major characters killed off in a multiverse saga that still resonates in popular culture.
Perez is also credited with rebooting Wonder Woman in 1987, and for two separate runs with the Avengers series.

‘Wonder Woman 2’ doesn’t hit theaters until November 2019 but we have the lowdown on the upcoming movie and its villain, Cheetah. Watch our video here.
We know that Gal Gadot will return as Diana Prince, aka Wonder Woman, and that Patty Jenkins is back as director. The film will be set in the 1980s, which has been further confirmed when Warner Bros. purchased every domain name from wonderwoman1980.com through wonderwoman1989.com, a possible clue to the new film’s title.
We also know that Kristen Wiig is playing the bloodthirsty demigod, Cheetah, an established villain of Wonder Woman in the comics.
ORIGINS: The comic books have repeatedly retconned the story of the Cheetah since her 1943 introduction as an aristocrat in a catsuit.
The new film will most likely feature the Barbara Minerva version of Cheetah. Created by George Pérez and Len Wein for “Wonder Woman” #7 in August 1987, Doctor Minerva’s backstory has been amended in the aftermath of two DC revamps: The New 52 and DC Universe Rebirth.
Her iteration as an archeologist would contrast perfectly with the film version of Diana Prince as a museum curator. We can also assume that her powers will come from a mystical curse that Wonder Woman wasn’t able to prevent, and that will fuel her hatred.
POWERS: The Cheetah’s deadly claws are backed by super strength, cat-like agility, and super-speed.
MOVIE: Coming November 2019, the movie is set in the 1980s, and there’s a good chance that the Cheetah may get a hand in taking on the Amazon princess.
Cheetah often allied with supervillain super group The Legion of Doom, which was hinted at during the post-credit scene for ‘Justice League,’ when Lex Luthor met with Deathstroke and declared: “Shouldn’t we have a league of our own?”
This film could be a first in the building blocks of the evil answer to the Justice League’s heroes.
Wiig may be best known for “Saturday Night Live” and ‘Bridesmaids,’ but she’s taken on more dramatic roles in ‘Mother!’ and ‘Welcome to Me.’ She could takes these dark and light sides of the Cheetah and balance comedic one-liners with the tragedy of a woman trapped in a cat’s body.
Add ‘Wonder Woman 2’ to your IMDb Watchlist and roll on November 2019.

With the release of that jam-packed trailer, there’s a lot of hubbub about the events of Avengers: Infinity War going on right now. Weirdly, though, one place people don’t seem to be looking for answers is Jim Starlin and George Perez’s 1991 Infinity Gauntlet comic book series that the film loosely adapts. Fortunately, Matthew Erao at Screen Rant has done his homework and spotted a cool reference to the comic in the trailer.
One of the key opening moments in the source material is when an out of control and injured Silver Surfer smashes through the roof of Doctor Strange’s Sanctum Sanctorum. The Silver Surfer is a powerful cosmic entity that pals around with none other than Galactus, the world eater, so anyone that can give give him a black eye is someone to take seriously. Eventually, in the midst of his pain and confusion, he blurts out “Thanos Is Coming!

Wherever you stand on the successes and failures of the DC Extended Universe to date, it cannot be denied that the franchise contains moments of sheer excellence. Some films contain more of these moments than others, of course, but they are scattered throughout the series, nonetheless. Within these moments, few can be more exhilarating then those which receive high praise from the creators of the comic book characters themselves – and that’s what we have regarding Justice League, from Deathstroke co-creator Marv Wolfman.
The thing about Justice League is that the majority of characters – Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, and The Flash – have been with us for so long that their original creators have since passed away. We’ll never know what William Moulton Marston thinks about Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman, or whether Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster would approve of Henry Cavill’s portrayal of their Man Of Steel.

Joe Manganiello has shared the first official photo of Deathstroke from his surprising big screen debut in the post-credits scene of Justice League! This is our best image of the character that has been released yet.

That solo film will most likely end up being directed by Gareth Evans (The Raid: Redemption, The Raid 2), which means this film is going to be ridiculously hardcore! We've got some big news for another DC Film coming from Warner Bros. According to The Wrap, Deathstroke is getting his own solo film and they are in talks with Gareth Evans to write and direct the film! Evans is the same director that brought us The Raid films, which are two of the most badass action movies ever made! So, the fact that he might end up directing Deathstroke is pretty damn awesome!
Also, in case you were wondering, Joe Manganiello (True Blood) is attached to star in the film. He was originally cast in the role when Ben Affleck was developing the solo Batman film. After Matt Reeves took over and said he was going to start over from scratch, fans weren't sure where that would leave Deathstroke. Well, now we know, and knowing is half the battle. However, we still don't know if he will show up in The Batman or not.

With The CW being able to claim serious bragging rights due to the fact that they’re home to a shared DC TV universe, it only makes sense that the various shows populating it not only intermingle here and there, but come together for a full-on crossover each fall. Just last week, the fanbase went nuts upon finding out that this year’s offering has been dubbed “Crisis on Earth-x,” therefore making it the most ambitious to date. Not meaning to sound boastful, but we did call this before any official announcement was made.
So, while we wait for more details to surface – and they might because filming should commence shortly – we’ll just have to tide ourselves over, perhaps by falling back on the source material or by rewatching past crossovers. Wein's career spanned decades and you can find his fingerprints all over the comics industry in addition to his two most famous creations. Shortly after he co-created Wolverine alongside John Romita Sr. and Roy Thomas, Wein, with artist Dave Cockrum, revived the previously failing X-Men in 1975 with the larger, more colorful lineup that launched the team to pop culture immortality. Back in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, we got a brief first look at Ray Fisher as Cyborg and now we are a few months away from his role in Justice League. Victor Stone aka Cyborg was originally a member of the Teen Titans, created by Marv Wolfman and George Perez. Then in 2011 he was established as a founding member of the Justice League during DC's New 52 reboot as well as in last year's Rebirth launch. Most Cyborg fans remember him from the Teen Titans animated series that was created by Glen Murakami that ran on Cartoon Network from 2003 to 2006 and was voiced by Khary Payton (who still voices him on Teen Titans Go!). So could there be any similarities between the film and animated version of the character?

From BigGameHunterCa, Sneak Peek DC Comics' 'Starfire' from the latest "Injustice 2" gameplay trailer, as the super-powered female alien, motivated to action by the death of 'Dick Grayson', aka 'Nightwing', shows off her deadly energy beams, celestial projectiles and a whole lot more:
'Starfire', aka 'Koriand'r, debuted in "DC Comics Presents" #26 (October 1980), created by writer Marv Wolfman and illustrator George Pérez, as an alien 'Tamaranean', with a physiology designed to absorb ultraviolet radiation, that allows her to fly at supersonic speeds.
This energy also provides her with superhuman strength and durability. She also has the ability to release her absorbed energy into powerful blasts.
Starfire is also proficient in hand-to-hand combat, trained by the 'Warlords of Okaara'. She also doesn't need to eat, drink, sleep and doesn't require an atmosphere to breathe.
All Tamaraneans assimilate languages through physical contact.
When Starfire attempts to do so with a male.

"Unbeknownst to those around him, he is also a vigilante. In the shadows, he fights with the commitment and conviction of an artist, the brutal grace of a dancer. Warner Home Entertainment is commemorating Wonder Woman’s 75th Anniversary leading up to the June 2 release of Patty Jenkins’ feature film. Joining in on the fun is this week’s rerelease of 2009’s animated film, directed by Lauren Montgomery.
This new edition, out as a Combo Pack with Bu-ray, DVD, and Digital HD, comes with just one new extra (the old ones remain): What Makes a Wonder Woman with a nice assortment of people chatting about her cultural significance, including Jenkins, Montgomery, Phil Jimenez, William Moulton Marston biographer Jill Lepore, and a few others for good measure.
Here’s our original review, which remains unchanged:
The DC Universe series of animated features got off to a rocky start with the Superman vs. Doomsday offering but has gotten steadily better. New Frontier was pretty amazing and now they offer up Wonder Woman, which may be the closest we get to...

This review contains minor spoilers.
Creating a follow-up to a famous Titans storyline is a risky move, especially if you’re not bringing Marv Wolfman and George Pérez on board with you. The good news is, Titans #11 channels what made the New Teen Titans series a terrific read and pays homage to its legacy. In fact, the whole concept of “The Lazarus Contract” is so brilliantly simple that you wonder why no one else thought of it before.
Part one of this saga kicks off with a flashback to the death of the Ravager, Deathstroke’s son, to remind us why you should always take your heart’s health seriously. We then travel back to current times with the Titans battling what appear to be H.I.V.E. cronies, but are actually a bunch of hired noobs. The heroes quickly dispatch of these posers, as one of them reveals...

Although “The Button” has yet to conclude, DC isn’t giving readers a chance to catch their breath as they begin yet another huge crossover this week in the form of “The Lazarus Contract.” Beginning with Titans and then spilling over into Teen Titans and Deathstroke before concluding in an oversized annual later this month, the tale sees Slade Wilson attempt to harness Wally West’s Speed Force abilities in an effort to resurrect his son, Jericho. Sure, we already know that a bold new era awaits the assassin this summer, but part of the fun is seeing how he gets there.
In the latest episode of DC All Access, co-host Whitney Moore caught up with one of the architects of the crossover, Dan Abnett, to discuss what’s in store for us. Not surprisingly, he said that they’re paying homage to The Judas Contract, the very same classic...

None of us know what made us what we are, and when we have to say something, we make up a good story • Steven Pinker
Long drive to and from Secaucus. It was a convention-filled weekend and, judging by the contents of the jar that accepts donations, a profitable one for The Hero Initiative. That organization is mostly the reason I attend conventions these days and a noble reason it is.
Two rough spots: as I was leaving a stage after blathering for an hour, I stumbled and fell – whomp! No harm done – no kidding, none – except maybe to my ego.
That slapstick was the first rough spot. The second was much grimmer. Sometime Sunday afternoon someone said that George Pérez wasn’t in attendance because he’d been taken to the hospital. Later we learned that George had suffered a heart attack. Had been given angioplasty and was resting comfortably.
