Following persistent rumors, we got confirmation that a new Disney+ WandaVision spin-off focusing on The Vision was in development at Marvel Studios back in 2022, but it seems the "Vision Quest" project has been completely revamped.
Variety reports that a new, untitled Vision series is in the works, with Star Trek: Picard executive producer Terry Matalas on board as showrunner. The show is currently on track for a 2026 premiere.
Matalas' work on Picard is said to have "greatly impressed the top brass at the studio. Marvel chief Kevin Feige, an avowed Trekkie, even recently appeared with Matalas on a two-hour episode of the Star Trek podcast Inglorious Treksperts.”
Paul Bettany will reprise his role as the McU's tragic synthezoid. There's no mention of Elizabeth Olsen's (Scarlet Witch) potential involvement, but the trade does note that the series will take place after the events of WandaVision, "as ghost Vision presumably explores his new purpose in life.

Looking at the crop of new scripted series selected by the broadcast networks for 2024-25, one cannot help but reminisce about the 20th anniversary of what may have been broadcast television’s greatest season ever.
The 2004-05 season introduced several genre-defying series — all but one based on original ideas — whose impact on TV storytelling is still being felt: Lost, Desperate Housewives, Grey’s Anatomy, House, The Office and Veronica Mars. Remarkably, one of them, Grey’s Anatomy is still around, having just been renewed by ABC for Season 21, along with another show that premiered that same season, animated comedy American Dad!.
Aside from the fact that the current economic realities of the TV business will likely never support another drama going to 21 seasons, broadcast networks will also likely never take chances on so many unconventional ideas: a sci-fi drama on a deserted island that set the tone for modern genre fare, a...

“The Conners” has been renewed for Season 7 at ABC, which will also be the show’s last. In addition, ABC has canceled “Not Dead Yet” after two seasons.
The final season of “The Conners” will reportedly be shorter than past seasons, with sources saying it will run for just six episodes. ABC declined to comment on the length of the season.
“The Conners” originally debuted on ABC in 2018. It began as a revival of “Roseanne,” but following Roseanne Barr’s tweets about former Obama administration aide Valerie Jarrett, the revival was canceled. Not long after, it was announced the show would continue as “The Conners” without Barr, with her character being killed off in “The Conners” premiere episode.
The series stars John Goodman, Laurie Metcalf, Sara Gilbert, Lecy Goranson, Emma Kenney, Ames McNamara, and Jay R. Ferguson. Tom Werner serves as executive producer along with Gilbert, Bruce Helford, Dave Caplan,...

It’s official: The Conners will be getting a proper goodbye. The Roseanne follow-up has been renewed for seventh and final season. As Deadline reported exclusively last week, the order is believed to be for six episodes, with the main cast, including John Goodman, Laurie Metcalf, Sara Gilbert and Lecy Goranson, expected to return. The renewal took longer to finalize because dates for the cast, particularly Goodman, had to be worked out, I hear.
Along with the official renewal, ABC has released the first “farewell season” promo, which leans into The Conners‘ history that spans two shows. With The Conners recently airing its 100th episode, Roseanne becomes a rare comedy franchise to produce two series that have hit that milestone.
“You’ve been part of this family for years,” the promo says, mixing footage from The Conners with a couple of shots from Roseanne. “After 6 seasons, be there to say goodbye.

Some of this TV season’s blood has already been spilled — looking at you, “NCIS: Hawai’i” — but as we head toward upfronts week, there are still a number of broadcast shows “on the bubble.”
But as the networks settle in on a diet of mostly stable franchises and fewer series pilots, there’s also less primetime schedule frenzy this year. The days before upfronts week which would normally mean a rapid fire few days of broadcast series renewals and cancellations announcements. But normal left the building a long time ago.
The broadcast network portion of upfronts has been so significantly pared down from years past that it hardly resembles what it used to be. These days, most of the broadcast networks announce renewals and cancellations well ahead of their actual presentations.
Take CBS, which has already announced its new fall and spring schedules as well as all of its renewals and cancellations.

The best (and worst) part of writing for the Marvel Cinematic Universe is that your movie/show is almost never just a self-contained story. It's part of a larger world, one where pre-existing characters can veer in and out of the narrative at seemingly any moment. But that's part of what made "Loki," the Disney+ series that began in June 2021, so fun. The main character was already established by several previous movies, so viewers knew who this guy was from day one, ad the first episode had a whole lot less work to do than a typical TV pilot.
So far, "Loki" hasn't involved any major characters from the main MCU, but part of the fun for fans is knowing that it could do so at any moment. It's hard to imagine a version of the series that doesn't at least have Loki somehow reconnect with his brother Thor, for instance,...

This post contains spoilers for Scarlet Witch & Quicksilver #1.
Who are Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch? Most would say that they are Marvel superheroes, twin members of the Avengers and, sometimes, the X-Men. And while those answers aren’t wrong, the truth has always been a bit more complicated when it comes to these two. And the new series Scarlet Witch & Quicksilver #1 — by writer Steve Orlando, artist Lorenzo Tammetta, colorist Frank William, and letterer Ariana Maher — only makes it more complicated.
Since their first appearance in 1964’s X-Men #4, the twins have gone from heroes to villains and back again. Moreover, their parentage has changed time and again, going from the kids of Romani villagers Django and Marya Maximoff to the children of Golden Age heroes Miss America and the Whizzer. In the most popular and most long-running explanation, Magneto has been presented as the true father of Pietro and Wanda.

Do you remember the show "Raising Dad"? The 2001-2002 single-season series from The WB grabbed my attention because it was another show starring "Full House" star Bob Saget, but would also serve as the gateway to two actors who would become all-time favorites of mine: Kat Dennings and Brie Larson. When it was announced that the latter was going to appear in "Fast X," I couldn't resist bringing up her history of playing a hot rodder in the Disney Channel Original Movie "Right on Track," and I'm always elated when people realize that Larson is one of the members of the Six Chicks clique in "13 Going on 30" and one of the popular girls in "Sleepover."
When actors can transition into a successful acting career as adults, their childhood careers either become the comparison of everything they do moving forward, or a non-discussed subject. For Larson, her past as...

Even with its shortcomings, Marvel's "What If...?" season 1 is the closest the Marvel Cinematic Universe has come to realizing the true potential of the multiverse in terms of storytelling. The hope, then, is that the animated series will dispense with the training wheels entirely with its next batch of episodes and really have fun with the concept, rather than restricting itself to re-imagining events from MCU movies and TV shows past. And so far, it appears season 2 will do just that, with an episode inspired by the Neil Gaiman-penned Elizabethan era comic arc "1602" and another one centered on a brand-new character in the form of the Mohawk hero Kahhori.
Of course, there's still plenty of room for new stories featuring old favorites, including treasured supporting players and frequent comic relief sidekicks Darcy Lewis (Kat Dennings) and Happy Hogan (Jon Favreau). Those two specifically will team up in "What If.

“Party Hard” rocker Andrew W.K. and Two Broke Girls star Kat Dennings tied the knot on November 27th in an intimate ceremony. The pair just revealed details of their wedding, along with photos, in an exclusive spread with Vogue.
Apparently, it was love at first site for the musician and the actress, with Dennings telling Vogue, “About three years ago, Andrew had come to visit me for the first time. At the end of his trip, we couldn’t imagine ever separating. We actually proposed to each other in the kitchen at the exact same moment.” They ended up getting engaged in the spring of 2021.
The wedding itself took place in the garden of the couple’s Los Angeles home, with roughly 15 people in attendance, including Macaulay Culkin and wife Brenda Song. “Everyone was happy and enjoying [themselves] and there wasn’t a dull moment,” said Dennings of the nuptials.

Contrary to popular belief, Drake hasn't been in many relationships. While the artist loves love (and rapping about his past situationships), he's pretty content with his dating life - which, according to him, consists of "dating four or five women" at a time to truly find his perfect partner.
Though the rapper usually reserves his songs to reveal details about his love life, he occasionally opens up about it, and he did just that in a July interview with Bobbi Althoff. During the interview, Drake told Althoff he sees himself marrying a non-famous person because celebrities are "not that intriguing." He also shared some thoughts about why he hasn't settled down yet. "The truth? I don't know, I don't think I can offer somebody what they'd be looking for right now," he said. "Just consistency, I think my life . . . my work is my priority. Jane Seymour has opened up about a near-death experience she had in 1988.
The actor, 72, who rose to fame as Bond girl Solitaire in the 007 film Live and Let Die, nearly died after she contracted bronchitis during filming and an antibiotic was injected into a vein rather than a muscle.
Asked in a new interview in The Times Magazine about whether she believes anything happens after we die, she said: “I have no idea. I do know that I left my body [after the near-lethal antibiotics]. I did see the white light and I did look down and quite clearly see and hear everyone screaming and trying to resuscitate me, which they were able to do.
“But when you’re out of your body, everything goes very calm.”
Seymour added that, looking back on her life, she doesn’t have any regrets. “I really don’t,” she said. “I’ve probably made millions of...

Exclusive: Michaela Conlin has been cast as a series regular opposite Ellie Kemper in ABC’s Drop-Off (working title), a comedy pilot based on the British series Motherland, from writer Julieanne Smolinski, Sharon Horgan and Clelia Mountford’s Merman Television, Paul Feig’s Feigco Entertainment, Lionsgate and ABC Signature. Judy Greer and Karan Soni also star.
Written by Smolinski, Drop-Off (wt) centers on Julia (Kemper), a working mom for whom nothing is working so she goes looking for her village. With the help of new friends Calvin (Soni) and Liz (Conlin), Julia discovers she just might succeed at balancing work and parenting from time to time. This is a comedy for anybody who’s dropped their kids at school, breathed a sigh of relief … then realized it’s Sunday.
Conlin’s Liz is another single mom at Julia’s (Kemper) kids’ school. She’s cool, doesn’t care. Unlike Calvin and Julia, Liz doesn’t like the inner circle of moms at their kids’ school and doesn’t want to be part of them. Liz lives a bit of an alternative lifestyle — there’s pretty much nothing in her apartment except a giant mattress on the floor — and her breezy disregard for the status quo is comforting to both Calvin and Julia.
Michael Showalter directs and executive produces alongside Smolinski, Kemper, Horgan, Mountford, Stacy Greenberg and Kira Carstensen for Merman Television, Paul Feig and Dan Magnante for Feigco Entertainment as well as Holly Walsh and Helen Serafinowicz.
Conlin will next be seen in Taylor Jenkins Reid’s adapted feature One True Loves, opposite Simu Liu. She also will be seen in the upcoming feature Junction, opposite Sophia Bush, Jamie Chung and Hill Harper. On television, she most recently appeared in Hulu’s Dollface opposite Kat Dennings, Brenda Song, and Shay Mitchell. Conlin is known for her role as Angela Montenegro in Fox’s Bones and also played a key recurring in Apple’s For All Mankind, among her other credits. Conlin is repped by Mosaic, APA and Joel McKuin.

New series ‘MPower’ on Disney+ Hotstar spotlight several of the MCU’s most inspirational women heroes. “Every hero has an epic origin story and so does this series,” said Executive Producer Justin W. Hochberg. “When I conceived ‘MPower’, I did it out of love for my teen daughter so she would have more icons to look up to, voices to learn from and role models to help her impact the world. Today, that vision is now a reality thanks to Brie Larsen, Elizabeth Olsen, the women of Wakanda and Zoë Saldaña, whose leadership was ‘Mpowering.’”
Saldaña is featured in episode four and serves as an Executive Producer of the series alongside Cisely and Mariel Saldana for Cinestar Pictures. “‘MPower’ is a tribute to women’s representation and empowerment,” she said. “We’re enthused to have the involvement of a diverse group of women whose voices and stories will serve as a source of inspiration.

One of the best aspects of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is the way anyone can reappear at any time. Even when you think they've forgotten a character like Samuel Sterns (Tim Blake Nelson) from "The Incredible Hulk," he'll come back as the Leader in "Captain America: New World Order." Did anyone expect Julia Louis-Dreyfus' Valentina Allegra de Fontaine to show up in "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever?" And who knew Jimmy Woo (Randall Park) and Darcy (Kat Dennings) would make a great team to investigate the Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen)? Putting familiar characters in new combinations is part of the fun of comics, after all.
Sometimes, though, enough is enough. Whether it's dead characters who won't stay dead or bad characters who keep ruining our enjoyment with their presence, some just don't need to come back. Whether a return would cheapen a fantastic exit, belabor a joke, or simply annoy us...

HBO Max is about to say farewell to a number of fantastic films, but this time it's not related to their current slaughter. Since HBO Max first launched in May 2020, the streamer has consistently had absolutely stellar offerings of original programming and acquisitions alike, but these days it's hard to keep track with everything they keep sending to the gallows. HBO Max has served as the final streaming resting place for much of the catalog of their parent company, Warner Bros., and yet there are a surprising number of Warner Bros. releases leaving HBO Max at the end of September. Odd.
Regardless, here are five films leaving HBO Max that are absolutely worth checking out before they're sent back into the void ... or hopefully to another streamer.

John Oliver condemns Last Week Tonight broadcaster HBO after content deleted from streaming platform
John Oliver has hit out against his network employer HBO during an episode of Last Week Tonight broadcast on that very channel.
The comedian and presenter used a segment of his weekly programme to make reference to the dozens of TV shows and films that have been taken from the streaming platform HBO Max in recent weeks.
These removals are a result of Warner Bros Discovery's plan to combine HBO Max and Discovery+ into one service. One of the biggest cuts was the Batgirl film, which has been shelved indefinitely despite its completion and a 90m spend.
On the most recent episode of his topical news programme, Oliver was discussing former vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin and her current campaign to run for Alaska’s House seat.
Poking fun at a source saying that Palin’s appeal to the crowd was part of “Sarah, Inc”, Oliver noted: “It honestly...

John Oliver took a couple of jabs at HBO Max on Sunday’s Last Week Tonight — which, of course, airs on HBO.
The comments come two weeks after he criticized parent Warner Bros. Discovery for its decision to shelve Batgirl. Sources told The Hollywood Reporter that CEO David Zaslav opted to shelve the project in order to take a tax write-down on the 90 million film. Meanwhile, several other series and movies also have been pulled from the streamer by Warner Bros. Discovery as part of its plan to combine HBO Max and Discovery+ into one service.
On Sunday night’s episode of Last Week Tonight, Oliver referenced the write-down during a segment about former Alaska governor and vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin, who is running for the state’s House seat in a special election.
Oliver quoted from an Aug. 16 New Yorker story:...

John Oliver took another swipe at all the changes happening at Warner Bros. Discovery and this time he addressed the shows getting pulled from HBO Max.
The Last Week Tonight host took on the possibility of Sarah Palin taking over congressman Don Young’s position after his death. Oliver teed up his jab at the streaming platform by mentioning a publisher quoted in The New Yorker that stated that “Sarah knows how to work a crowd … but it’s Sarah, Inc.’ …”
Oliver took the name “Sarah, Inc.” and said it sounded like “a title of a sitcom starring Kat Dennings that’s already quietly disappeared from HBO Max.”
The comedian then added, “HBO Max, It’s a series of tax write-offs to appease Wall Street.”

In collaboration with comic series creator Neil Gaiman, Netflix is finally bringing a live-action adaptation of The Sandman to the world. Announced in 2019, The Sandman has had years to build anticipation in fans of the comics and pique interest in newcomers as nuggets of information related to casting, the scope of this season, and how closely it stays to the comics have been released.
Fans of Gaiman’s The Sandman have been waiting a long time for an adaptation that does the series justice. Gaiman himself has been known to stop “bad versions” from being made, telling Total Film that he’s been terrified of Sandman following the legacy of the 1986 film adaptation of Howard the Duck and thus determined not to let any adaptation of his own work ruin the world he and his fans love so much. Even though the audiobook adaptation of The Sandman, available on Amazon...

This article contains Thor: Love and Thunder spoilers.
While 2017’s Thor: Ragnarok had a moderate (and amusing) number of cameos, Thor: Love and Thunder really ups the ante in terms of surprise walk-ons. Some of the unexpected appearances in this movie are from Marvel first-timers while others are from characters who previously showed up in either Ragnarok or those other movies about the God of Thunder that we don’t like to talk about anymore. Well, at least Thor: The Dark World—the first Thor is still pretty good if you ask us!)
There are also a handful of cameos from real-life family members of some of the film’s stars and, most intriguingly, there is a trio of ghost cameos as well, which is to say appearances that were filmed but did not make the final cut. Two are from characters we know already, while one remains a mystery as we write this.
