- (April 17 & 18, 1989) He composed music for the musical, "Arthur, The Musical," in a staged reading at the Paper Mill Playhouse in Millburn, New Jersey. Richard Maltby Jr. was director. David Crane and Marta Kauffman wrote the book and lyrics.
- (February 2 to March 4, 1989) He and John McKinney were musical directors for the musical, "Beehive," at the Actors Theatre of Louisville (Mainstage) in Louisville, Kentucky with Meghan Duffy, LaChanze, Karyn Quackenbush, Tudi Roche, Judith Walton and Moné Walton in the cast. Larry Gallagher wrote the book. Fran Soeder was director. Mark Martino was choreographer. The musicians were John McKinney (keyboard); Tyrone Wheeler (Bass); Scott Henderson (guitar); Jeff McAllister (drums); Bruce Krohmer (saxophone); David Welch (trumpet) and Scott Kasbaum (rehearsal pianist) in the company.
