1980s television series Baywatch is getting the reboot treatment at Fox, and here are the details of the new show.
Baywatch is perennialy parodied in mainstream media. Whether it’s the melodramatic scripts or the iconic slow motion running, with the show became a byword for televisual cheese. Perhaps most memorably, it featured as a major plot point in 2006 film Borat, as the title character becomes infatuated with Pamela Anderson. It also formed part of 2019 Disney+ drama Pam And Tommy, which saw Lily James play Anderson as she deals with sexism on the Baywatch set
Nevertheless, the show was and remains hugely popular, launching the global careers of Pamela Anderson and David Hasselhoff. It followed a group of lifeguards as they patrol the beaches of LA County, and was sold right around the globe.
It ran in its initial form for 241 episodes over eleven seasons from 1989 to 2001, with a spin-off,...

Fox is taking viewers back to the beach with a reboot of an iconic '90s series.
According to a new report from Deadline, the network has joined forces with the indie studio Fremantle to bring David Hasselhoff's beach rescue drama Baywatch back to the small screen.
The remake is being described as an “action-packed” take on the original material, with Lara Olsen serving as showrunner.
It looks as though Hasselhoff, Pamela Anderson, Yasmine Bleeth, and the other stars of the original series are not involved with the reboot at this time.
But we wouldn't be surprised if the Hoff and company wind up making cameos.
Interestingly, the new version of Baywatch is one of two lifeguard dramas set to premiere on Fox in the year to come.
Following strike delays, Rescue: Hi-Surf is set to debut in the fall of 2024.

Slow-motion isn’t just for Zack Snyder films anymore! A Baywatch reboot is in the works at Fox, and the beach will never be the same again! Fox is requesting a sizable script and a penalty deal for the time-honored (and arguably horny) lifeguard drama, with Fremantle and Fox Entertainment co-producing.
We’ve known about a Baywatch reboot since April when Deadline reported Fremantle’s desire to bring fun in the sun back to televisions. At the time, Fox was developing another lifeguard drama, Rescue: Hi-Surf, from John Wells Productions. Rescue, a co-production between Warner Bros. TV and Fox Entertainment, is still going forward, with a fall 2024 launch as the project’s window. Regardless of prepping Rescue: Hi-Surf, Fox is ready to hit the sands with more than one lifeguard drama, hence the Baywatch reboot.

Emma Roberts is unlacing her skates: The American Horror Story star has exited the cast of Netflix’s upcoming figure skating drama Spinning Out, less than a month after signing on to star.
Our sister site Deadline reports that Roberts’ exit is due to a scheduling conflict with another project of hers — which may be another TV series that’s yet to be announced. Spinning Out will continue on at Netflix, though, with Roberts’ role being recast. (Lily Collins is said to be in negotiations to step in as the new series lead.)

Exclusive: Emma Roberts has departed Spinning Out, Netflix’s recently announced edgy drama series set in the world of competitive figure skating.
A rep for the actress confirmed to Deadline that Roberts is not proceeding with Spinning Out due to a scheduling conflict with another project. Netflix confirmed that they are moving forward with Spinning Out, with the lead role being recast. The Internet network declined further comment but I hear that Lily Collins had been in negotiations for the part.
As for Roberts, everyone is mum on her new project; I hear it’s another series.
On Spinning Out, Roberts was to have played the lead, Kat Baker. Created by Samantha Stratton (Mr. Mercedes), a former competitive figure skater herself, Spinning Out centers on Kat Baker, an up-and-coming, high-level single skater who’s about to turn in her skates after a disastrous fall took her off the competition track.

CBS has picked up two drama pilots based on international formats, Ny-Lon and Mythological X, as well as drama presentation Can Openers.
Ny-Lon, from ABC Studios, revolves around a female New York record store clerk and a male London stock broker who, after a fateful encounter in the British capital, embark on a cross-continental romance.
The project is based on Channel 4's 2004 series, which starred Rashida Jones and Stephen Moyer.
Patti Carr and Lara Runnels penned the script and are co-executive producing. Executive producing the CBS pilot are Touchpaper's Rob Pursey -- who served as an executive producer on the original series -- as well as Beacon TV's Armyan Bernstein and Laurie Zaks, Pangea's Chris Coelen and a Pandemonium executive.
The 20th Century Fox TV-produced Mythological X, based on an Israeli series, will be written by Diane Ruggiero. It centers on a woman who, after learning from a psychic that she already has dated the man she's supposed to marry, revisits all her past relationships in the hopes of finding him.
