- Quine was married to the former Judith Balaban, author of "The Bridesmaids", about her friendship with Princess Grace of Monaco. The Quines also founded and ran the Professional Karate Association.
- He was a guest at the 2012 Memphis Film Festival's "A Gathering of Guns 4: A TV Western Reunion" at the Whispering Woods Hotel and Conference Center in Olive Branch, Mississippi.
- Studied at the American Theatre Wing with Stella Adler and John Stix, before landing the role of Tom Stark in Robert Penn Warren's Off-Broadway premiere of All the King's Men at the East 74th Street Theater in 1959. It was here that he was spotted by an agent and offered work in Hollywood.

- Don's teenage years were troubled. He spent several months at a juvenile detention center in Martinez, California, for burglary.
- His father, Robert Corkill Quine (1895-1943), was a medical surgeon and major in the U.S. Air Force, killed in the crash of a B-24 Liberator bomber near Gunnison, Colorado, on July 19, 1943. His mother, Irene Elizabeth Quine (1916-2008), worked as a dental assistant.
