AMC Networks is looking to advertising to help it grow its streaming business.
The company says it will roll out a less expensive ad-supported tier of AMC+ later this year. Pricing hasn’t been announced yet, but the current cost is $8.99 per month, and the new tier is expected by October. The new offering will be sold in the company’s 2023-2024 upfront, which will include a presentation Tuesday evening in New York.
The ad-supported tier will also unlock the ability for advertisers to buy time across specific shows, genres or franchises (like The Walking Dead or Anne Rice universe), whether the programs air on linear TV, on AMC+, or on a free ad-supported streaming (Fast) platform. AMC+ includes programming from AMC, IFC, SundanceTV and BBC America, as well as films and programs from AMC’s niche streamers like Shudder and SundanceNow.

In between filming Seasons 5 and 6 of “Better Call Saul,” Rhea Seehorn had no way of knowing that she was prepping for not one, but two Emmy-nominated roles at the same time. That down time away from her work on the beloved AMC show gave her the chance to be part of the team behind “Cooper’s Bar,” a six-episode short-form show airing on AMC+ about a backyard hangout spot that becomes part of a studio development bidding war.
“We did all that work on hiatus, then continue to have a couple of Zoom meetings throughout Season 6 of ‘Saul’ so that the second I got back, we could do some physical production prep, and then go ahead and shoot it,” Seehorn said. “The majority of the people that are on ‘Cooper’s Bar’ are friends of mine, and we just wanted to do something together. So we had a blast.”

Exclusive: Few actors will have put their bodies through as much for a role as Tim Realbuto who lost a record 154 lbs for movie Bobcat Moretti.

The AMC Networks family has renewed a pair of shows.
Acorn TV is bringing back Jane Seymour’s Harry Wild for a second season and AMC+’s short-form series Cooper’s Bar is also getting a sophomore run.
The Anglo-centric streamer said that Harry Wild delivered its most successful premiere week in its history when it launched in April. It will return in 2023 with another eight episodes.
Seymour stars as Harriet “Harry” Wild, a retiring university literature professor who is finding herself at one of life’s crossroads. In season one, jolted from a mugging, Harry reluctantly agrees to recover in the home of her son, Charlie, played by Kevin Ryan, a senior police detective. Charlie’s family does their best to tolerate Harry’s inscrutable ways, but Harry speaks her mind. Looking to expand opportunities for advertisers beyond pay-tv, AMC Networks has set a slate of original digital series to be produced by the studio arm of its in-house brand agency, The Content Room.
The shows, which connect with marquee properties from across the AMC Networks portfolio, offer another option for media buyers looking for a new route to consumers increasingly less tethered to pay-tv. Individual portfolio meetings with advertisers will start the week of April 5.
A model for the new originals, the company said, is its successful home-grown franchise, Bottomless Brunch at Colman’s, created and hosted by Fear the Walking Dead’s Colman Domingo. The show began as a digital short during the initial onset of Covid-19 and is now a Diageo-sponsored series featured across many concurrent platforms. That was a great choice for the 400th episode of NCIS.
The background of Gibbs and Ducky's long-standing friendship was explored on NCIS Season 18 Episode 2.
The murder case that brought them together in 1980 was neatly tied into a modern-day death.
Even better, the 40-year-old case was that old TV trope, "the one that got away," for Gibbs and Ducky.
Gibbs has always been "boss" to his younger agents, from Tony, Kate, and McGee in the beginning and to Torres and Bishop now.
But the friendship between Gibbs and Ducky has been a prominent part of the NCIS tapestry from the start.
Ducky has always been the one who has tempered Gibbs' impulses. And Gibbs is the one who punctures Ducky's scholarliness.
The flashbacks from 1980 proved that it's always been that way.
Young Marine Gibbs had made a hasty life choice, while young Ducky was running away from a sidetracked medical career.

I did a lengthy retrospective interview with William Fichtner back in 2015 as part of a local Buffalo, New York publication’s “film issue” due to his being raised in the suburb of Cheektowaga and forever holding a special place in his heart for the city wherever he goes. When talking about the area’s rejuvenation and increased appeal for the film industry, he relayed his dream of one day soon shooting a script he finished co-writing with Cain DeVore in his hometown’s backyard of Upstate New York. His vision for this film was to have the “crystal clear Finger Lakes in the background” rather than the muddy rivers of a Louisiana tax break. He hoped to champion his roots on-screen and deliver its underrated, natural beauty to the world.
The financing came together for that dream to become a reality two years later as Cold Brook‘s Onondaga County-set...

"Keep to yourself, mind your own business, because this is the last stop for you." A trailer has arrived for an indie crime drama titled Wetlands (not to be confused with the German sex comedy of the same name), which is hitting theaters in a few weeks. From first-time director Emanuele Della Valle, this stars Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje (from Get Rich or Die Tryin', G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra, Thor: The Dark World, Trumbo, Suicide Squad) as a top cop from Philly who finds himself working in a precinct in the Wetlands, the no-man's land surrounding Atlantic City, New Jersey. There he mixes with locals before the infamous hurricane arrives and threatens to destroy lives. The full cast includes Heather Graham, Jennifer Ehle, Anthony Mackie, Christopher McDonald, Rob Morgan, Lauren Lavera, Sean Ringgold, Louis Mustillo, Tyler Elliot Burke, Pamela Dunlap, and Barry Markowitz. This looks solid, but not sure. Take a look.

Fans don't have to worry about Mike & Molly being cancelled this time around because it's already been announced that there won't be a seventh season. Will the ratings for the final 13 episodes be high enough for the CBS execs to regret their decision to cancel the show or, will the numbers confirm they made the right choice? Stay tuned.

It is not often that I get to offer you something special of my own here at HitFix. That's not to say I am not personally invested in my writing here. Of course I am. I think over the last five or six years, I've turned a corner in terms of my own understanding of what film criticism can be, and for me, it works on a very personal level. But when it comes to my creative work, there's not a lot of it that I've been able to share in a finished form. I could publish my scripts, I suppose, as long as my co-writer Scott Swan agreed, but a script is a suggestion of what a movie will eventually be, not the movie itself. When I wrote about my quarter-century here in La, I wrote about the production of our play, "Sticks and Stones," at the Met Theater in La.

Yesterday, I wrote about my first year in Los Angeles, which was all just a matter of settling in. Remember, when I moved to La, I knew a grand total of zero people who lived or worked here. I was not laden with contacts and strolling into a situation where everything was guaranteed to work out. Scott Swan and I took a huge chance when we packed up and moved out, and I am so horrified by how little money we had saved that I'm almost embarrassed to say the number. I was insanely naive when I arrived in town. I am still haunted by a choice we made in those early days, when we answered an ad in one of the trades that was looking for writers willing to work on a "per sketch" basis. I forget how much the rate was… $100 or so, but definitely not more than that…...

Monday’s “Mike & Molly” Christmas episode was definitely the result of a team effort on the part of the CBS comedy’s cast and producers.
The show, which just premiered its fifth season earlier this month, hadn’t originally planned a holiday episode. But, after the network finalized the show’s air dates, everyone realized the show had an episode airing really close to Christmas. So, star Reno Wilson — who plays Mike’s (Billy Gardell) police partner, Carl — leaped into action, show representatives told TheWrap.

This season, CBS decided to delay Mike & Molly until mid-season or until one of their new shows was cancelled (the latter didn't take long). How will the sitcom do this season? Could it be cancelled or is it almost guaranteed to be renewed because of syndication profits? Time will tell!

The "Mike & Molly" Season 3 finale may have aired a little later than expected, but CBS gave it a "Big Bang Theory"-assisted scheduling boost to ensure maximum viewership.
The episode saw Mike (Billy Gardell) dealing with the aftermath of his mother, Peggy (Rondi Reed), breaking up with his boss, Captain Murphy (Gerald McRaney), as a tornado headed for Chicago. With disaster looming, Mike revealed to Molly (Melissa McCarthy) that he secretly went into business with stepfather-in-law Vince (Louis Mustillo) in case they needed extra money for in vitro fertilization treatments. Of course that didn't turn out very well: the ostriches Mike and Vince bought wound up getting loose in the storm. And Murphy showed up at Peggy's door to declare they're not over yet.
Otherwise it was a rather quiet finale, with no major cliffhanger or standout event to keep fans buzzing during what will be an unusually extended hiatus.

Sneak Peek the new poster for "One For The Money", a new crime thriller, based on the 1994 novel by author Janet Evanovich.
Directed by Julie Anne Robinson, "One For The Money" stars Katherine Heigl, Jason O'Mara, Debbie Reynolds, Daniel Sunjata and Sherri Shepherd:
