In a monumental ruling on Monday, the Supreme Court voted 5-3 to eliminate a 2013 Texas law regulating the state's abortion clinics - the biggest decision on the controversial topic by the country's highest judicial body in decades, reported the Wall Street Journal. The court ruled that a 2013 law signed in by then-Texas gov. Rick Perry - and known as H.B. 2 - led to an "undue burden" on women's right to an abortion. According to the law, Texas abortion clinics had to meet the standards of outpatient surgical centers, and their physicians had to maintain admitting privileges at a hospital within 30 miles of the clinic,...

December 15th is definitely a great day to be a cult film fan as we’ve got a bunch of stellar titles making their home entertainment bows this week. Scream Factory is releasing several films on Blu this Tuesday—The Car, Zombie High and the double feature of The Dungeonmaster and Eliminators—and Arrow Video is keeping busy as well with their special editions of both Blood Rage and What Have You Done to Solange?
Other notable titles include The Last Horror Film, Count Dracula, The Toxic Avenger Collection, a double feature of Axe and Kidnapped Coed as well as the most recent iteration of Fantastic Four.
The Car (Scream Factory, Blu-ray)
The peaceful tranquility of a small Western town is disturbed when a murderous car wreaks havoc by viciously mowing down innocent victims. The new sheriff, Wade Parent (James Brolin), may be the only one who can stop this menace in its tracks.

A boarding school and its students seems a little too perfect in Zombie High, hitting home media on December 15th from Scream Factory. Ahead of its Blu-ray / DVD release, we have a look at the film's cover art and list of special features:
Press Release: I used to be normal…happy…well-adjusted…but that was before… On December 15, 2015, Scream Factory proudly presents Zombie High in a Blu-ray + DVD combo pack, for the first time on either format. A brand new high-definition transfer highlights the incredible story of a hard-working student and the warped way of life that made her go wacky!
Virginia Madsen (Candyman, Sideways) and Richard Cox (Cruising) star in this humorous thriller about the bizarre happenings that occur in a prestigious boarding school. It seems to Andrea Miller (Madsen) that the upper-classmen act like robots. They’re the perfect students – dedicated, involved and loyal. Their clothes are perfectly...

Considering the enduring legacy of the super-suave secret agent man - we're talking 50 years! - it's hard to find someone who doesn't have a favourite Bond and who won't fiercely defend their choice when confronted by someone else's obviously wrong pick.
For this edition of He Said/She Said, where Michael Kennedy, Executive VP of Filmed Programming, and Andrea Miller, content producer and dotcom journalist, go head-to-head on a movie topic, it seemed an ideal time to bring 007 into the mix since we're in the midst of our #30DaysofBond coverage.
They chose who they considered to be the best big-screen Bond - charisma, looks and acting were all factors - and got busy defending their choices so find out what they had to say and vote in the poll!

The gloves are coming off! Expect barnburners and TKOs and round-for-round bouts until one winner is decided...and any other boxing cliches that you can think of.
No, we're not getting into the fighting business but we are introducing a new feature called He Said/She Said where Michael Kennedy, the Executive VP of Film and the dude you know if you fly Air Canada, and Cineplex.com writer/journalist/producer Andrea Miller will face off over one movie topic and you get to decide the winner by voting in the poll.
Our inaugural He Said/She Said match concerns itself with Batman baddies - The Dark Knights Rises opens in a mere number of hours after all - specifically whether Heath Ledger or Jack Nicholson created the best Joker. Yeah, we're going there.
Check it out and join the discussion!

Dancers at the Sportmax store. Photograph by Fran Roberts. New York City’s Sportmax boutique was transformed into an interactive performance space last week much to the delight of the fashionable crowd that gathered there despite the howling wind and falling temperatures. The evening was conceptualized by the Italian brand in collaboration with installation artist Sebastian Agneessens in hopes of exposing partygoers to alternative forms of art and expression. On this occasion the crowd was treated to a contemporary dance choreographed by Andrea Miller, whose company Gallim Dance has been on enthusiasts’ radar since a breakout performance at Joyce Soho Presents in 2007. The performance began with the dancers slowly emerging from the store’s dressing rooms—yes, you read that correctly, the dressing rooms—evoking the image of flowers budding from their seeds. Dancers wore different Sportmax pieces, including body-con shrunken hoodies, tights, and gloves barely reaching the wrist, all...

NEW YORK -- First Independent Pictures will handle North American theatrical distribution for Chen Shi-Zheng's dramatic thriller Dark Matter, starring Liu Ye, Aidan Quinn and Meryl Streep.
Based on a true story, the film follows a Chinese science student (Liu Ye) invited by a professor (Quinn) to travel to the U.S. to study for his Ph.D., but the pressures of his new environment cause him to slowly unravel. Streep plays his mentor.
The film will be released in April, followed by a DVD release via a home video deal that is now being finalized. Dark Matter won the Alfred P. Sloan award when it premiered at last year's Sundance Film Festival.
The film was earlier slated as one of the first releases from executive producer Kirk D'Amico's Myriad Pictures. Janet Yang, Mary Salter, Andrea Miller produced the film, and Linda Chiu executive produced alongside D'Amico.
The deal was negotiated by First independent head Gary Rubin with Josh Braun of Submarine Entertainment.
