"It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" has had some pretty unforgettable bits over the years, but some of the best moments of the show hands down are the musical numbers. There was Dee's rapping boyfriend, Dennis and Mac's glam rock band, the animated musical number in the season 4 Christmas special, and of course, there was "The Nightman Cometh." But who could forget one of the most popular songs in "Sunny" — the patriotic anthem "Rock, Flag, and Eagle."
The song was originally an inside joke between series co-creator and star Charlie Day, who stars in the show as a character named after himself, along with actor and writer David Hornsby, who plays the recurring character Rickety Cricket.
"Hornsby and I would joke about truck commercials, and that they — at that time, I don't know if they're still doing this — it seemed like they were just pumping out the most stereotypical American things,...

Of the many secondary characters in "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia," none has had quite as much interaction with the gang as Matthew "Rickety Cricket" Mara. The character first appeared in the season 2 episode "The Gang Exploits a Miracle," where fans got to know him as a former high school classmate of the younger members of the gang who had an intense infatuation with Dee (Kaitlin Olson). Called "Rickety Cricket" because he wore leg braces throughout high school, he had gone on to become a priest, but his reunion with the gang led him on a downward spiral that would lead to him becoming a drug-abusing pimp with burn-related facial scarring who lives under a bridge. Over the years, he's debased himself in just about every way, making "Sunny" fans double over with laughter in the process.
Unfortunately for the guy who plays him, it's apparently a pretty thankless job,...

Last month, it was announced that Patrick Wilson, who has starred in the likes of three Conjuring movies and three Insidious movies (one of which he directed), is producing a stage musical adaptation of Joel Schumacher’s 1987 vampire classic The Lost Boys (watch it Here). Now that project is taking a big step forward, as Deadline has learned that there’s going to be an industry presentation of the show next month, with Frozen‘s Caissie Levy, Dear Evan Hansen‘s Nathan Levy, and & Juliet‘s Lorna Courtney having been cast in major roles. This private presentation is scheduled to be held on February 23rd – and even though only industry insiders will get to watch it, that’s enough to inspire the people behind the show to release a teaser trailer for what they’re calling The Lost Boys: A New Musical. For the first time in almost 15 years, The Lost Boys are back in The Lost Boys: A New Musical, an official stage adaptation of the classic 1980s movie that’s headed our way soon.

The term "nepo baby" tends to carry a negative connotation, but it doesn't have to. Take the Deschanel sisters, Emily and Zooey. Their mother, Mary Jo Deschanel (née Weir), began acting in the 1960s and has dozens of film and TV credits to her name, from "2010: The Year We Make Contact" to "Twin Peaks." Their father, Caleb Deschanel, is likewise a decorated director and cinematographer whose career spans 50 years, having collaborated with filmmakers like Philip Kaufman, Carroll Ballard, William Friedkin, Richard Donner, Roland Emmerich, and Christopher McQuarrie.
In the face of that, "nepo babies" Emily and Zooey Deschanel have emerged as artists fully worthy of admiration on their own merits. On top of forming one-half of the successful indie pop group She & Him, Zooey Deschanel spring-boarded from her early breakout roles in the hits "Almost Famous" and "Elf" into an ongoing career as a movie star, in addition to...

[This interview contains major spoilers for Merry Little Batman.]
DC Studios’ Merry Little Batman sees Bruce Wayne in an unusual turn: donning his dad hat during the holidays.
The Warner Bros. Animation film follows the relationship of Bruce and his son, Damian, an 8-year-old desperate to be just like his crime-fighting father. The only problem — beyond him being a literal child — is that crime no longer exists in Gotham. Batman decided to clean up the streets for good to give Damian a shot at the safe, crime-free childhood Bruce didn’t have.
But when his overprotective father is called to save the day in Nova Scotia on Christmas Eve and becomes stranded in a trap laid by Mr. Freeze, Damian is left home alone with no one to help him as two criminals break in. The hapless burglars manage to make off with his newly gifted utility belt, leading Damian on a chase through Gotham’s...

Merry Little Batman Movie Review Rating:
Star Cast: Yonas Kibreab, Luke Wilson, James Cromwell, and David Hornsby
Director: Mike Roth
Merry Little Batman Movie Review Out ( Photo Credit – IMDb )
What’s Good: The movie feels like a fresh offering for both the Christmas movie and superhero genres.
What’s Bad: While the characters are fun, they don’t have much of the characteristics that make Batman and Robin household names.
Loo Break: The film clocks around 90 minutes, but there could be a couple of places that feel redundant.
Watch or Not?: This is a good choice for Batman fans to watch during this holiday season, even if this Batman might feel a bit unfamiliar.

Actor Patrick Wilson is on board to produce a stage musical version of 80s cult film The Lost Boys. More details here:
If all you’ve ever wanted was a musical about some very attractive vampires, you’re in luck. Joel Schumacher’s 1987 cult film The Lost Boys is heading to the stage, with added songs!
Aquaman star Patrick Wilson will be producing alongside James Carpinello and Marcus Chait, as reported by Deadline. Wilson took a stab at directing this year, helming the fourth Insidious sequel, Insidious: The Red Door. While also reprising his role as Josh Lambert in the long-running horror franchise, Wilson also teamed up with Ghost to deliver a cover of the song “Stay” which played over the end credits.
The original The Lost Boys, which also spawned two sequels, followed brothers who moved to a new town, just to find out it’s the prime spot for some vampires.

The Lost Boys is getting the musical treatment. The 1987 vampire-themed horror-comedy is being adapted for the stage by Parade’s Michael Arden, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia’s David Hornsby, and more.
Though no casting details nor production timeline have been made public, Deadline and other outlets have confirmed that work is underway, with Arden directing and Hornsby writing the book alongside Chris Hoch. Additionally, Ethan Popp (Tina: The Tina Turner Musical) will serve as Musical Supervisor, with the pop band The Rescues contributing original music.
The Lost Boys musical will be produced by three veteran actors: Patrick Wilson, James Carpinello, and Marcus Chait (Broadway productions of The Pirate Queen and Urban Cowboy). According to Deadline, the show will be “produced by special arrangement with Warner Bros. Theatre Ventures.”

Patrick Wilson is no stranger to the horror genre, having starred in the likes of three Conjuring movies and three Insidious movies (one of which he directed), among other things – but I never would have predicted that his name would be attached to a stage musical adaptation of Joel Schumacher’s 1987 vampire classic The Lost Boys (watch it Here). Especially not as a producer. But producing a The Lost Boys stage musical is exactly what Wilson is doing, according to Deadline.

The Lost Boys, the 1987 cult classic horror-comedy about hunky teenage vampires that made stars of Jason Patric, Kiefer Sutherland and Coreys Feldman and Haim, is being adapted as a stage musical by a team that includes co-book writers It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia writer/EP David Hornsby and Chris Hoch, Parade director Michael Arden and pop-rock band The Rescues.

I love it when a Batman-centric project arrives animated and has a stylized design. Such is the case with Warner Bros. Animation’s family holiday movie Merry Little Batman, which takes the Caped Crusader and his son Damian Wayne and gives them an illustrative, Ron Searle-inspired coat of paint.
As if Prime Video hasn’t cornered the market enough regarding stellar superhero content, their acquisition of Merry Little Batman, along with a ton of other Batman-related projects, including the Bruce Timm/Matt Reeves/J.J. Abrams animated series Batman: Caped Crusader, from Warner Bros. Discovery, adds just a bit of power to the streamer’s greatness. One Zaslav’s trash is another studio’s treasure. The funniest part is that this is the best DC movie Warner Bros. didn’t even distribute this year. Ain’t that a killer joke?

Fatherhood apparently has a way of slowing you down. Take Batman, for instance. He’s clearly not at his fittest in this new Amazon Prime animated film, in which he looks more like a burly lumberjack than a superhero, wearing dad jeans, a flannel shirt and a heavy beard. Fortunately, he’s not the hero tasked with saving Gotham City yet again in the Yuletide-set Merry Little Batman. That would be Damian, his eight-year-old son, who clearly takes after his old man when it comes to fighting supervillains.
Damian (voiced by Yonas Kibreab) displays the typical energy of a pre-adolescent, chasing his cat around the expansive confines of Wayne Manor as if they were in a Tom and Jerry cartoon. His father Bruce (Luke Wilson) is essentially retired, having gotten rid of all crime in Gotham City. But he’s still on call, meaning that when he gets a message...

The grind is as real as it gets when you're working on network television. Where an intense film shoot can require 12 to 16-hour days for several months, a TV show demands the same daily time commitment year in and year out. Even decades of back-breaking work in action movies couldn't prepare Sylvester Stallone for the "brutal" reality of making a television series when he starred in Taylor Sheridan's mafia drama "Tulsa King."
You can imagine, then, that Emily Deschanel was more than ready for a break after a decade-plus of playing crime-solving forensics expert Temperance Brennan on "Bones." Hart Hanson's procedural was the rare series to survive the gauntlet that was Fox in the 2000s, ultimately spanning 12 seasons, 246 episodes, three U.S. presidential administrations, and a confusing-but-amusing crossover with "Sleepy Hollow." "Bones" ran for so long that it only ended a year before Deschanel's sister, Zooey Deschanel, finished...

One of the great challenges in being a comedy writer who also stars in the project they're writing is that ostensibly they're going to end up writing something hilarious that is absolutely miserable to film. Unfortunately for "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" writer, star, and co-producer David Hornsby, who plays the eternally cursed Rickety Cricket, those miserable moments are somewhat common. What's even more unfortunate is that one of the absolute worst moments to film ended up being written by Hornsby himself, and he came to regret it.
In the episode "The Gang Cracks the Liberty Bell," Hornsby plays a version of Cricket who is a British soldier stationed in Philadelphia right before the Revolutionary War, and he has an unfortunate run-in with the alternate history version of the gang. On the episode of the "Always Sunny Podcast" discussing Hornsby's time on the series, he revealed that he wrote "The...

"It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" has an incredible cast of characters that fill out the world around the central group, "the gang," and few are as funny or tragic as Matthew "Rickety Cricket" Mara, played by the fabulous David Hornsby. Hornsby is also a writer and co-producer, bringing his slightly twisted sense of humor to the series in more ways than one, but it's hard to deny his impact as Cricket. The first time fans met Cricket, he was a handsome young priest who had intense unrequited feelings for Dee (Kaitlin Olson). He went to high school with the gang, which is where he earned the nickname "Rickety Cricket" because of his leg braces, and they only continue to make his life worse as the years go on. After Dee convinced him to leave the church and told him that her love for him was only because he was a priest and unattainable,...

Get ready for a fresh twist on the Batman universe this holiday season with “Merry Little Batman.” This new animated special, set to stream on Prime Video starting December 8, promises a unique blend of superhero action and Christmas cheer.
The story revolves around young Damian Wayne, voiced by Yonas Kibreab. Unlike his typical portrayal as Robin, Damian steps into the shoes of “Little Batman” to protect Gotham City on Christmas Eve. With his father, Bruce Wayne (Luke Wilson), and Alfred Pennyworth (James Cromwell) by his side, this isn’t your ordinary holiday tale.
Director and producer Mike Roth brings a new perspective to the Batman narrative. He explains that focusing on a younger Damian offers a fresh and heartwarming take on the well-known characters. This version of Damian is more innocent and wide-eyed, perfectly capturing the magic of Christmas through a child’s eyes.
The villains are just as integral to the story.

"I have to show Dad I can handle myself! I can do this – I'm saving Christmas!" Prime Video has revealed an official trailer for an animated holiday special (I'd happily watch more!!) called Merry Little Batman, made by Warner Bros Animation. Set for a streaming debut on Prime Video this December for everyone to watch during the holidays this year. This looks like so much absurd fun! Kooky and wacky and wholesome. This Christmas, Damian Wayne wants to be a Super Hero like his dad—the one and only Batman. When Damian is left home alone while Batman takes on Gotham's worst Super-Villains on Christmas Eve, he stumbles upon a villainous plot to steal Christmas and leaps at the chance to save the day. With the voices of Luke Wilson as Batman, Yonas Kibreab as Damian, David Hornsby as Joker, and James Cromwell as Alfred. This looks kind of amazing?...

‘Tis the season to be Batman. Prime Video has just unveiled the new trailer for the animated family holiday comedy Merry Little Batman. The new Christmas-centric Batman movie sports an abstract animation style and breaks the fourth wall in many instances to make references to the various incarnations of previous Batmans. The movie resembles The Lego Batman Movie with a satirical edge. Luke Wilson provides the voice for The Dark Knight, and Yonas Kibreab portrays the spunky little Damian Wayne, who will take up the mantle, and David Hornsby of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, lends his voice for this movie’s Joker.
The synopsis from Prime Video reads,
“This Christmas, Damian Wayne wants to be a superhero like his dad—the one and only Batman. When Damian is left home alone while Batman takes on Gotham’s worst supervillains on Christmas Eve, he stumbles upon a villainous plot to...

Merry Little Batman Trailer: Bruce Wayne’s Son Damian Plays Hero in Home Alone-Style Christmas Movie
Prime Video is inviting DC fans to spend the holidays at Wayne Manor. The streamer has released a trailer for Merry Little Batman, an animated Christmas movie premiering on Friday, Dec. 8, which shifts its focus to a slightly smaller caped crusader.
Here’s what to expect, per Prime Video’s official release: “This Christmas, Damian Wayne wants to be a superhero like his dad — the one and only Batman. When Damian is left home alone while Batman takes on Gotham’s worst supervillains on Christmas Eve, he stumbles upon a villainous plot to steal Christmas and leaps at the chance to save the day.

Jingle Bells, Batman smells, Robin laid an egg! The Batmobile broke its wheel, and the Joker got away! Hey! Entertainment Weekly brings holiday cheer to Bat-fans this Friday with a gallery of images from Merry Little Batman, an animated holiday film coming to Amazon Prime Video next month!
Sliding down the chimney and onto your Amazon Prime account before Christmas, Merry Little Batman focuses on Damian Wayne (voiced by Jonas Kibreab) defending Wayne Manor from some of Gotham City’s most despicable villains on Christmas Eve – Home Alone-style!
“Because it’s a Christmas story, telling it through the eyes of a child seemed apropos,” the film’s director and producer, Mike Roth (Regular Show), tells EW. “Typically, Damian is a teenager who struggles with good and evil. The gang on "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" are always coming up with schemes to try and make money without really doing any work, but one of those ridiculous ventures actually paid off behind the scenes. In the season 5 episode "Paddy's Pub: Home of the Original Kitten Mittens," the gang all try to come up with different promotional items they can try to sell at a merchandising convention, and the results are as wacky as you might imagine. Charlie (Charlie Day) comes up with the titular kitten mittens, which are little socks a person can put on their cat to muffle the sound of their footsteps, and that gets the whole gang started on ideas ranging from a shotgun that blasts people in the face with liquor to official Paddy's Pub, uh, eggs. It's a jumping-off point, okay?

Emily Deschanel and her sister, Zooey Deschanel, have been gracing our screens for years, but did you know that success in Hollywood has been in the family for generations?
The Deschanels' parents were both established in the entertainment industry long before the birth of their daughters. Their father, Caleb Deschanel, is an Oscar-nominated cinematographer. He was first nominated for an Academy Award in cinematography in 1983 for the film "The Right Stuff," followed by "The Natural" in 1984 and "Fly Away Home" in 1996. Additionally, 2000's "The Patriot," 2004's "The Passion of Christ," and 2018's "Never Look Away" all netted him nominations. He is also a member of the National Film Preservation Board of the Library of Congress.

The musical episode of "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" came from a pretty unexpected place. Widely regarded as one of the best episodes of the 16-season sitcom, "The Nightman Cometh" was such a hit the gang even performed the show live. The musical's unforgettable original songs were written over several stages, but the one that inspired the rest was "Dayman," the hero's theme, which was actually written for a different episode.
Charlie Day's character is the one to conceive of the musical on the show, and the actor was also the force behind the episode in real life. He was always interested in making a musical episode of the series, but his co-creators felt that they couldn't just make a musical for no reason — the character needed a clear motivation for writing and producing something of such great effort. No one on this show does anything without ulterior motives,...

"It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" has a lot of standout episodes, but the season 4 finale, "The Nightman Cometh," is definitely up there. It was not the show's first time dabbling with musical sequences, nor its last, but it's definitely the one people remember most. It's the one where Charlie puts his heart into writing a romantic coming-of-age story to impress his long-term stalkee The Waitress, but instead accidentally writes a musical about a kid getting molested.
Even for the actors themselves, this episode still sticks with them. "I never stopped singing, 'You gotta pay the troll toll to get into that boy's hole,'" Danny DeVito told GQ in a 2018 oral history on the episode. "After that episode, wherever I'd go, people would scream it [at me] out of windows." That line was yet another dark misunderstanding: Charlie wrote the line as "boy's soul," not hole, but the two phrases sound tragically similar,...

This week, “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” is uniting with another 2000s TV staple, “Breaking Bad.” Season 16’s “Celebrity Booze: The Ultimate Cash Grab,” which is set to premiere Wednesday, June 28, will follow the gang as they meet Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul, who play themselves in the episode.
In the clip, Dennis (Glenn Howerton) and Mac (Rob McElhenney) have a plan in store for Paul and Cranston as they make an appearance in Philly to launch their own celebrity liquor label, Dos Hermanos. But that scheme comes to a screeching halt when Paul refuses to shake Dennis’ hand.
“I really don’t mind shaking his hand,” Cranston whispers to his former AMC co-star.
“How many times do I have to go through this? We’re not shaking hands,” Paul responds. The short moment is a complete about-face from the dynamics between Walter White and Jesse Pinkman.

“Its Always Sunny In Philadelphia” — Pictured: (l-r) Glenn Howerton as Dennis, Kaitlin Olson as Sweet Dee, David Hornsby as Cricket, Charlie Day as. Charlie, Danny DeVito as Frank. Cr: Patrick McElhenney/FX. Philadelphia is an old city, having served as the first capital of the United States until Washington, DC was established in 1800. It’s a city that’s proud of its heritage, its culture, and, occasionally, even its sports teams. So, how does It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia fit into the fabric of such an historic metropolis? After all, its characters aren’t exactly Philadelphia’s most upstanding citizens. In spite of that, Rob McElhenney and Danny DeVito feel like the city’s reputation has only been enhanced by the show. As Amazon Freevee’s hoax reality series “Jury Duty” is currently garnering huge amounts of attention, the format originator is staging a comeback. TBS is set to announce Wednesday that it has ordered a revival of “The Joe Schmo Show,” which will air next year on the cabler.
The original “Joe Schmo” premiered in 2003 on Spike TV, with a follow-up in 2004 and then a third season revival in 2013. Created by Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese, “Joe Schmo” made waves when it first debuted for parodying the then-relatively new and white-hot reality competition genre.

F. Murray Abraham’s sudden exit from “Mythic Quest” last April was due to sexual misconduct complaints, according to a Monday report from Rolling Stone.
Although the exact nature of his behavior was not detailed, a production source said that Abraham was “given a warning and told to keep away from some of the show’s actresses.” After a second complaint, series creator and star Rob McElhenney opted to let him go, Rolling Stone reports.
“It’s a bummer to not have Murray in this season,” McElhenney told Variety at the time of saying goodbye to Abraham’s character, sci-fi author C.W. Longbottom. “But we recognize that C.W. is a beloved character and obviously a huge part of the show. So, we made sure that we have a really fitting tribute to him. We definitely address it in a big way.”

Mythic Quest Spin-Off Mere Mortals Will Have 'A Lot Of Interplay' With The Original Show [Exclusive]
The world of "Mythic Quest" is expanding. This week, Apple TV+ shared the news that the wild gaming industry comedy about a video game company led by dysfunctional genius duo Poppy (Charlotte Nicdao) and Ian (Rob McElhenney) has garnered a spin-off, "Mere Mortals." The new eight-episode series will also be set within the world of "Mythic Quest," and will apparently take inspiration from the show's critically acclaimed one-off episodes, telling specific stories about Mq fans, players, and even employees at the company.
This week, I spoke with series co-creator Megan Ganz about the new show, which will be headed up by "Mythic Quest" writers John Howell Harris, Katie McElhenney, and Ashly Burch (who also plays Rachel in the flagship series). "It's really early stages," Ganz said. "All I can say is that it's going to be run by three of our best writers from the 'Mythic Quest' room.

The Mythic Quest universe is expanding. Apple TV+ has ordered Mere Mortals, an eight-episode companion series from Mythic Quest star Ashly Burch, John Howell Harris and Katie McElhenney.
Mere Mortals, which will feature entirely new characters, will explore the lives of employees, players, and fans who are impacted by the game at the center of Mythic Quest. The new series takes a page out of the departure episodes of Mythic Quest, including the upcoming episode “Sarian,” set to premiere Friday; last year’s “Everlight,”; season one’s “A Dark Quiet Death”; “Backstory!” from Mythic Quest season two; and, the standalone episode, “Mythic Quest: Quarantine.”
Mere Mortals is written by Burch, Harris and McElhenney. Mythic Quest creators Megan Ganz, Rob McElhenney and Charlie Day executive produce with EP and star David Hornsby, Nick Frenkel, Michael Rotenberg, Jason Altman and Margaret Boykin. Lionsgate, 3 Arts Entertainment and Ubisoft produce for Apple.
