Marvel has several upcoming projects slated for release in the coming years. Many of these projects have faced delays or cancellations due to the historic SAG-AFTRA strike that affected the entire industry. One highly anticipated Marvel Studios project, ‘Blade,’ encountered issues even before the strikes began.
‘Blade’ is an MCU movie centered around Eric Brooks, a prominent vampire hunter in comics. It serves as a reboot of the beloved ‘Blade’ trilogy, which played a significant role in shaping the MCU as we know it today.
Summarizing all the challenges faced by ‘Blade’ is quite a task. Mahershala Ali, the movie’s lead, pitched the idea to the studio a while back and was officially announced as Blade in 2018. Since then, the project has grappled with constant script issues, leading to several changes in writers throughout its development.

Attention: The Following Report Is A Rumor. Please Take The Following Story With A Grain Of Salt.
Ever since it was originally announced in 2019, the MCU’s interpretation of the half-human, half-vampire monster hunter Blade has been in production hell. The character, once made popular by the 1998 film, portrayed by Wesley Snipes, has since had a revolving door of creatives and multiple pushbacks in terms of getting the project off the ground.
Bassam Tariq was originally set to direct, with Stacy Amma Osei-Kuffour writing the script, but Tariq left in early 2022 following creative differences. Yann Demange took over directing duties, while Michael Starrbury was brought on to rewrite the script. Later, both Nic Pizzolatto and Michael Green did additional rewrites.
One of the biggest rumors regarding the troubled production is the continued issues with the script. At one point, the film was said to primarily focus on female characters, with...

After ruminating on the idea for Blue Eye Samurai for quite a while, Amber Noizumi and Michael Green had difficulty finding the right medium – until they decided the story needed to be animated in whole new style. Enter Netflix, which had just recently started an adult animation division, and the eight-episode series was born.
Blue Eye Samurai follows Mizu (Maya Erskine), a young warrior driven by revenge as she lives as an outcast in Edo-period Japan. Her blue eyes signify her as an outsider in a Japan that has closed its borders, and her gender prevents her from legally seeking revenge. Green and Noizumi say they wanted to build up as many obstacles as they could for Mizu to overcome, as a warrior seeking to “transcend her station.”

Deadline: Where did the idea for Blue Eye Samurai come from?...

In case you did not know, a Blade Runner series is in the works and has been shooting since April. Titled Blade Runner 2099, the series was revealed to be in the works in 2021, when Ridley Scott himself confirmed that a pilot and the series’ bible (a reference book for a series with relevant plot and character data) had been written. The series was officially announced in 2022 when the title was also revealed. Filming was set to begin in 2023 but was postponed to April 2024 due to the SAG-AFTRA strike, which paralyzed the entertainment industry for a longer period of time. Now, knowing that the series is currently being filmed, we can also confirm that we have some exciting casting updates.
The Blade Runner franchise wasn’t a franchise initially. It started off as a standalone movie directed by Scott, which starred Harrison Ford and Rutger Hauer in the main roles.

‘Blade’ has faced a rocky production journey with numerous delays. The latest rumors suggest that the film will be postponed yet again, shifting its release date from November 7, 2025, to an unspecified date in 2026.
My personal ranking for MCU 2025:
1) Daredevil: Born Again
2) Fantastic Four
3) Thunderbolts
4) Ironheart
5) Captain America: Brave New World
6) Wonder Man
Suspect Zombies, Eyes of Wakanda and What If…? s3 may release next year so expect that ranking to change.

The MCU has several projects lined up for release in the coming years, including the ‘Blade’ reboot. This reboot aims to introduce the iconic vampire hunter to the MCU.
Mahershala Ali proposed the project and will star as the titular character. Initially planned for a 2023 release, the movie has been delayed to 2025 (so far) due to Ali’s dissatisfaction with the script.
The movie went through a rough development phase, with the story changing several times and Mahershala nearly quitting at one stage. Some actors, like Aaron Pierre, also dropped out for reasons not disclosed. Recent reports suggest the movie’s plot has been simplified, focusing solely on Blade hunting vampires, and filming is set to begin in Mexico. According to industry insider Daniel Richtman, who has a solid track record, Wesley Snipes is rumored to make a comeback in the MCU’s Multiverse Saga, appearing in multiple undisclosed projects.

The new ‘Blade’ reboot is definitely one of the most exciting MCU projects for several reasons. Many fans are thrilled that the famous vampire slayer from the comics is returning to the big screen.
The original ‘Blade’ trilogy was so successful that it saved Marvel from bankruptcy at one point. Many people believe that this movie paved the way for the rest of the MCU.
When Mahershala Ali proposed rebooting ‘Blade’ to the studio, he probably didn’t realize how tough it would be. The movie was initially set for a 2023 release, but due to Ali’s dissatisfaction with the script, the release date was pushed to 2025 (so far). The project underwent several rewrites.
A few months ago, Michael Green was brought in for rewrites, with the aim of keeping the “R” rating at all costs, as Demange stated several months ago.

While Marvel only has one theatrical release this year with Deadpool and Wolverine, 2025 seems to be a packed year for the franchise. Apart from Captain America: Brave New World and The Fantastic Four, the MCU will also see Mahershala Ali’s Blade making it to the big screens in November 2025.
After multiple delays due to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes and key personnel changes, Ali’s Blade is reportedly headed for filming in the summer. According to Jeff Sneider, the team behind the film has finally cracked a script that will satisfy fans of Blade and that they would be headed to film in New Mexico.

Mahershala Ali has been attached to the Blade reboot for what seems like almost an eternity now. The actor’s casting was received very well. Most importantly, he is not a new face to Marvel fans, since he played Cottonmouth in Luke Cage.
The actor is very well-respected in the industry, owing to his charming personality and acting chops. However, his turn as the Daywalker in the Marvel reboot is still up in the air, with the production yet to take off. If rumors are to be believed, the film looks set to make yet another change, thereby raising questions about Ali’s possible MCU debut.

If you keep up with our updates, you’ve probably noticed that ‘Blade’ gets mentioned almost weekly. We often share news about plot changes and delays. It’s safe to say this movie’s had a rough time in development – there have been a lot of rewrites and some big names backing out. The latest rumors, from Daniel Richtman, just confirm what we shared a few weeks back: ‘Blade’ won’t be a period piece anymore, and Mia Goth is still set to play the villain.
Additionally, it’s said that the movie will connect to the ‘Midnight Sons’ project. Currently, it’s set in the present day. Michael Green has reportedly been brought in for rewrites and is now the sole scriptwriter for the movie.
‘Blade’ is reportedly now set to take place in present days.
Mia Goth is still attached to play the villain.

In physics, the three-body problem is ugly. When you have one or two objects exerting gravity on a body, it moves in a predictable pattern. Add a third and its chaos.
In 2024, the three-body problem in media is that every piece of art has a creator, a consumer and politics. So when Netflix’s sci-fi series 3 Body Problem debuted on March 21, anti-woke crusaders such as VCs Marc Andreessen and Andrew Chen only made it one scene in before posting that it was a cri de coeur to end the far-left agenda. Two days after the show dropped, Chen, a Vc at a16z, posted on X, “The opening scene just punches you in the face. Irl cancel culture driven by high school and college students. The upcoming superhero movie, Blade, is based on the Marvel Comics superhero of the same name. With Mahershala Ali in the lead role, the movie has seen .ultiple delays so far. The project was announced back in 2019, but 5 years later, its no close to enter production still. And even Ali’s casting news was made official along with the reveal that the Blade franchise was getting a reboot. But things do not seem to be going anywhere yet.

With multiple changes in writer, director, story, and even cast members so far, fans are now getting frustrated. Even the lead star, Mahershala Ali, was close to quitting the project, but has retained his part in the project so far. But with even more delays still happening, fans are thinking if it would be better for Ali to actually let the project go and move on.

Mahershala Ali is all set to become a major Marvel star by starring as the titular character Blade in the upcoming reboot. Yet it seems his journey of becoming the daywalker Blade is more disastrous and complex than one can anticipate, for the project just seems to get delayed after delays.

After reports of various developmental delays, there haven’t been any new updates for a few months on the project. And as per a piece of recent news about the actor, it seems to hint he might have just committed a career blunder by rejecting one DC movie for Blade.

Marvel’s Blade has been dulled yet again, as star Aaron Pierre has exited the project, marking just the most recent snag in the project, which is set to be part of Phase Six in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
As Pierre confirmed to Variety, “Early on, there were conversations…As the project evolved, I’m no longer part of that — attached.” Pierre’s character in Marvel’s Blade was unknown.
There has been a lot of change throughout the development of Marvel’s revisiting of the Blade franchise, most of which relates to talent behind the camera. For starters, Watchmen’s Stacy Osei-Kuffour was hired as writer in 2021 before being replaced by Michael Starrbury (Colin in Black & White) and a handful of others, including True Detective’s Nic Pizzolatto and later Logan’s Michael Green. It’s widely believed that Aaron Pierre’s character would be dropped as subsequent drafts came in.

Kings had an all-too-brief reign on NBC, canceled after just 13 episodes. At the time, the network executives who had championed the show were getting pushed out, the new guard was unwilling or unsure of how to promote the show properly, and network TV itself was struggling to stay relevant. Yesterday, it was reported that Beau DeMayo, the creator behind ‘X-Men ’97,’ set to debut in a few weeks, was abruptly fired. His termination came without prior notice, as his company email was deactivated, and Marvel Studios (along with Disney) severed all ties with him in what appears to be an unexpected move. This news is particularly surprising considering DeMayo’s significant involvement in Marvel’s future plans. ‘X-Men ’97’ had already been slated for a second season before the premiere of its first season. Additionally, DeMayo was allegedly in discussions for a third season and was actively engaged in crafting the script for the upcoming ‘Blade’ reboot.
Although neither the studio nor his representatives provided a reason for his dismissal, a well-known source, CanWeGetSomeToast, shared on X that it was due to a combination of factors.

Yesterday news broke out that Beau DeMayo, the creator of ‘X-Men ’97’ scheduled to be released only a few weeks from now, was fired without any warning whatsoever. His company email was deactivated and Marvel Studios (and Disney) broke all ties with him in what looks like a shocking decision. It’s even more shocking when you take into account that DeMayo was clearly a massive part of Marvel’s future. ‘X-Men ’97’ was scheduled to get a second season ahead of the first season’s premiere. He was also reportedly discussing plans for season 3 and was actively working on the upcoming ‘Blade’ reboot script.
And while no reason for his firing was given either by the studio or by his representatives, notable leaker and scooper CanWeGetSomeToast published on X that it was a combination of things.

Rumors of a ‘Blade’ franchise reboot and its integration into the MCU surfaced as early as 2016, following the studio’s reclamation of the character rights in 2011. Kevin Feige was among the first to acknowledge the potential for a project centered around the vampire slayer, whether in the form of a live-action TV series or a film.
Mahershala Ali’s interest in portraying Blade became evident when he approached the studio with a ready script. Despite the project being greenlit, it entered a prolonged development phase, spanning nine years. Details regarding the plot and production remained scarce, with recent speculation suggesting a rewrite, spearheaded by writer Michael Green.
Originally slated for a 2023 release, the movie faced numerous delays, pushing its debut to November 2025. Reports indicate that Ali nearly withdrew from the project due to the extensive effort required to properly bring the iconic character into the MCU fold.
