Pierre Schildnecht or Schildkneckt was a Russian born scenic painter and art director who after the Russian revolution went to France. He worked on French film industry during two decade learning the technique of glass and matte painting and the use of foreground miniatures to enhance sets.
In the early forties, Schild moved to Spain fleeing the Second World War. At 1940 he performed the first matte painting on a Spanish film. La florista de la reina (1940) Pierre Schildnecht changed its name to Pedro Schild.
He remained in Spain until his dead, working as art director and doing matte paintings and perspective tricks.
