Hey, do you remember "Poseidon"? The 2006 action pic from director Wolfgang Petersen is a remake of the 1972 disaster epic "The Poseidon Adventure," as well as an adaptation of Paul Gallico's 1969 "The Poseidon Adventure" novel. The story focuses on a cruise ship that gets hit by a tidal wave and flips upside down. The survivors have to then claw their way to the bottom of the ship, which is now the top. Lots of characters die horribly along the way. It's fun for the whole family!
The star-studded remake cast includes Kurt Russell, Josh Lucas, Richard Dreyfuss, and the late, great Andre Braugher. Russell is probably the biggest name of the bunch, and the actor plays Robert Ramsey, a character who is both an ex-firefighter and the former Mayor of New York City. His history allows him to sort of take command of the situation, although he's really mostly concerned...

Let's take a look at 10 of the most memorable Brooklyn Nine-Nine moments that were completely unscripted.

Stephanie Beatriz is opening up about a recent reunion she had with the Brooklyn Nine-Nine cast which they used to remember their late co-star André Braugher.
The actor died in December 2023 at the age of 61 following a brief illness. Beatriz and her former co-stars, such as Andy Samberg, Terry Crews, Melissa Fumero, and Chelsea Peretti, saw each other in March to remember Braugher.
“[It was] a chance for all of us to get together and make each other laugh,” Beatriz told People about the reunion. “And it was also a chance to talk about André. It came up immediately, and then we put it away for a while.”
She continued, “But at the end of the dinner, by the end, we were all just sharing stories about him and our memories of him. And he lives in our hearts forever and ever.”

TV crossovers and interconnected universes are the best things when it comes to fandom. But they can be super tricky, for it involves combining separate ongoing storylines into one project. It’s a daunting task for the creative group, which if not done correctly can end up being like Zooey Deschanel’s New Girl and Brooklyn 99 crossover.
Zooey Deschanel as Jessica Day in New Girl
Although people appreciated watching Zooey Deschanel in Brooklyn 99, it wasn’t a great idea to combine the comedy styles of the two shows. Further, what created the biggest mess out of the crossover was featuring the same actors in different roles in the two shows.

Apparently eight seasons together was not enough. The cast of comedy-drama Brooklyn Nine-Nine gathered for a meet-up that was heavy on reminiscing.
Chelsea Peretti posted reunion photos on Instagram with the show’s other stars: Dirk Blocker, Stephanie Beatriz, Terry Crews, Joel McKinnon Miller, Joe Lo Truglio, Melissa Fumero, and Andy Samberg.
Of course, it was keenly felt that Andre Braugher was missing. The actor who played Capt. Raymond Holt died unexpectedly in December.

Ron Nyswaner will soon be traveling to New York to reunite with his Writers Guild of America East fellows for a grand occasion. The Oscar-nominated screenwriter, producer and showrunner has been selected to receive the Walter Bernstein Award at the 76th Writers Guild Awards at New York’s Edison Ballroom on April 14.
The honor — named after the late screenwriter who was blacklisted for his political views only to persevere and get his career back on track with such credits as Fail-Safe, Semi-Tough and Yanks — is presented to writers “who have demonstrated with creativity, grace and bravery a willingness to confront social injustice in the face of adversity,” per the organization.
Nyswaner has been doing that for pretty much his entire career. A prime example is Jonathan Demme’s 1993 film Philadelphia. Penned by Nyswaner, the Tom Hanks and Denzel Washington-starrer was the first major Hollywood film to dramatize the real-world...

The In Memoriam segment of the 96th Academy Awards on Sunday night paid a moving tribute to several stars and movie industry folk who have died over the last year — but, as ever, social media was quick to point out the more glaring omissions.
During the telecast, the In Memoriam segment featured Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli and his son Matteo performing a moving rendition of “Con te partirò” as pictures of talent who have died flashed on the stage behind them. The segment opened with a tribute to the late Russian political activist Alexei Navalny, who died last month in prison in controversial circumstances.
“You’re not allowed to give up,” Navalny says in a clip from the film Navalny, which won best documentary feature at the 2023 Academy Awards. “If they decide to kill me, it means we are incredibly strong.”

Andrea Bocelli performed a rendition of the song “Time to Say Goodbye” with his son Matteo Bocelli to accompany the Academy’s annual obituary section. Perhaps mindful of previous years, in which eagle-eyed viewers have jumped on omissions, this year’s “In Memoriam” — which began with footage of the recently deceased Russian opposition leader and subject of last year’s winning documentary Navalny — seemed comprehensive but at the same time not enough.

The In Memoriam section of the Academy Awards is always one of the most emotional moments of the show. This year was no exception, as the 96th Oscars celebrate the performers, filmmakers and artisan talents who died in the past year. The In Memoriam segment kicked off with a remembrance of Alexei Navalny, the political prisoner who died Feb. 16 and was profiled in last year’s documentary feature winner “Navalny.”
The names unfurled onscreen was Andrea Boccelli and his son, Matteo, sang “Time to Say Goodbye.”

The Losers return to a very familiar place: ‘Salem’s Lot. But things look a tad different in 2004.
Starring Rob Lowe, Donald Sutherland, Samantha Mathis, and the late and great Andre Braugher and Rutger Hauer, this TNT miniseries updated the 1975 novel by shifting the vampiric action into modern times. This affords the narrative a more topical lense, particularly the mutual feelings of a nation still reeling from 9/11 and the ensuing war overseas.
Join the Losers in the popular Stephen King town as they weigh in on the miniseries’ 2004 vibes, the eerie connection to Wolves of the Calla, the changes to the source material, and the phenomenal cast — particularly Sutherland and Brauer. They also debate whether it’s cynical or earnest, why all the characters are jerks, the edge lord vibe of it all, and its connection to a more recent miniseries cut from the same cloth: Chapelwaite.

While making an appearance on Late Night With Seth Meyers on Wednesday, Chelsea Peretti opened up about how the December death of her friend and Brooklyn Nine-Nine co-star Andre Braugher has affected her.
“I went to London over Christmas,” Peretti recalled. “And people were coming up to me and they’re like, ‘Andre died.’ And I’m like, ‘Yeah.’ They’re like, ‘How do you feel?’ I’m like, ‘Bad?'”
And even more recently, Peretti said just talking about Braugher caused her to burst into tears.
“I just did press in Santa Barbara for the film festival,” Peretti recalled. “My movie was there, and on the red carpet, the guy goes, ‘What’s your favorite Brooklyn Nine-Nine episode?’ And I’m talking about it. He’s like, ‘Who was funniest?’ I’m like, ‘Andre’ and I just burst into tears. It was so horrible because to be a celebrity,...

Giancarlo Esposito is filling the hole left by his late friend Andre Braugher in Netflix‘s upcoming mystery-drama series The Residence, which recently resumed production. As reported by Deadline, Esposito will take over the role of White House Chief Usher A.B. Wynter in the Shondaland series. Braugher was originally cast in the role and was set to lead opposite Uzo Aduba (Orange is the New Black) before his untimely passing on December 11, 2023. This isn’t the first time the Breaking Bad alum has stepped in for Braugher. Over 25 years ago, Esposito succeeded the Brooklyn Nine-Nine star on Homicide: Life on the Street after Braugher exited the NBC drama ahead of its final season. The pair then starred alongside one another on the 2000 spin-off television movie. “I couldn’t be prouder and more honored to be stepping into Shondaland’s The Residence for someone that I loved and respected and cherished in Andre Braugher,...

Giancarlo Esposito is taking over the male lead in Netflix’s Shondaland drama The Residence following the passing of Andre Braugher.
Braugher, who died Dec. 11 following a battle with lung cancer, was tapped last February to be the male lead on Netflix’s Shonda Rhimes drama The Residence, starring opposite Uzo Aduba. The White House murder-mystery started production before shutting down amid Hollywood’s dual strikes. Braugher had already completed filming a lot of his scenes on the series, which was scheduled to resume filming last month January. Esposito’s casting means the scenes Braugher had filmed will be reshot on the drama from showrunner Paul William Davies (Scandal), which has continued production amid the recasting.
Here’s the official logline for The Residence, per Netflix: “132 rooms. 157 suspects. One dead body. One wildly eccentric detective. One disastrous State Dinner. The Residence is a screwball whodunnit set in the upstairs, downstairs...

Richard Gere and Edward Norton headline the 1996 thriller Primal Fear, which is coming to 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray in the UK.
Cast your mind back to 1996, assuming you were alive at that time, and not a toddler. This was a time when movie studios – Paramount in particular – were seeking mid-budget thrillers, which had a habit of delivering a very pleasant profit.
In the case of 1996’s Primal Fear, headlined by Richard Gere, the film also unearthed a brand new talent. That’d be Edward Norton, in his first high profile Hollywood role. For taking on the support in what could have been a disposable potboiler, he ended up scoring his first Oscar nomination for the role, and deservedly so.
There’s a lot else to like in the film, too. Gregory Hoblit was directing a bunch of mid-priced films at the time, and we’ve chatted about them and his work,...

The passing of Andre Braugher in December 2023 stunned the Brooklyn Nine-Nine fandom, compelling a revaluation of his decades-long career and rich legacy in acting. Though the Fox and NBC police procedural comedy series dominated the final years of his career, Braugher’s footprint transcends the Captain Raymond Holt role. The Chicago, Illinois native was going to become an engineer when he discovered acting and opted for a BA in theatre at Stanford University. He would later study drama at Juilliard before becoming a Shakespearean actor. From the stage, the late American actor made his way to the small and big...

Echo star Vincent D’Onofrio isn’t ready to say whether Wilson “Kingpin” Fisk has been healed by Maya Lopez.
At the end of Disney+ and Hulu’s five-episode miniseries, Echo, Maya (Alaqua Cox) utilizes the powers of her Choctaw ancestors to enter Fisk’s mind and potentially heal him of his childhood trauma involving his abusive father and the ball-peen hammer he used to stop him. Once Maya releases Fisk from her grip, he desperately wants to know what she’s done to him, but he’s whisked away before the police arrive on the scene.
At this moment, D’Onofrio can’t give the game away, especially with Daredevil: Born Again still en route.
“That’s a good question, but I can’t answer that question. That question is boxed up in a lot of other stuff, and I can’t open that box,” D’Onofrio tells The Hollywood Reporter.

All it took was a scan of social media or a few afterparty conversations on Monday night to learn that the 75th Primetime Emmys, delayed four months by the Hollywood strikes, were worth the wait.
The three-hour Fox telecast, which went over well with critics, was polished, moved at a nice clip, featured talent from decades of TV and, in contrast to the monologue drama at the Golden Globes just eight days earlier, saw host Anthony Anderson lauded for his efficient and warm navigation of what is so often a thankless job.
“Anthony was undeniably the host with the most,” said Allison Wallach, Fox Entertainment’s president of unscripted programming. “Those cast reunions and mind-blowing sets were beyond compare and the winner speeches were filled with heart and humor … and on time, thanks to the watchful and hilarious Mama Doris.”

The TV Academy tonight paid poignant tribute to those who’ve passed away in the past 12 months. Among the big names highlighted by the In Memoriam segment were Norman Lear, Matthew Perry, Angela Lansbury and Andre Braugher.
Charlie Puth and husband-and-wife duo The War and Treaty accompanied this year’s “In Memoriam” video montage as it unspooled with a rendition of “See You Again.” The segment started off with Lear and ended with Perry.
Soon after it aired on Fox, fans took to social media to express their disapproval over omissions, the biggest being Ryan O’Neal. Known for his film work, O’Neal, who died December 8, also co-starred on the TV series Peyton Place from 1964-69.

The In Memoriam segment of the 75th Primetime Emmy Awards on Monday paid a moving tribute to several television stars, creators and producers who have died over the last year — but social media was quick to point out the omissions.
Users on X, formerly Twitter, were upset that missing from the video montage of the In Memoriam segment were Ryan O’Neal and Ray Stevenson. Viewers were left baffled on Monday, January 15, when the 2023 Emmy Awards left several stars out of the show’s emotional In Memoriam tribute. The segment, which pays tribute to stars who passed away since the previous year’s (September 2022) ceremony, honored the likes of Norman Lear, Angela Lansbury, and Andre Braugher. As such, Rob Reiner and Sally Struthers introduced the segment in light of the recent loss of Lear, the pioneering producer renowned for creating groundbreaking series like their All in the Family, as well as Sanford and Son, One Day at a Time, The Jeffersons, and Good Times. As the presentation started, several stars appeared to the tune of Charlie Puth‘s “See You Again,” which shifted to a special tribute to Matthew Perry accompanied by the theme song of Friends. Stephen “tWitch” Boss, Richard Belzer, Treat Williams, and Angus Cloud were also honored alongside Lance Reddick. However, there were still some snubs,...

The tribute opened with All in the Family alum Sally Struthers and Rob Reiner, who stood in the Bunkers’ beloved living room as they honored creator Norman Lear. The pioneering producer, who was also behind iconic series like The Jeffersons, Sanford and Son, and Good Times, died at 101 last month.
Charlie Puth then appeared on piano to perform his hit “See You Again,” backed by singers and a string arrangement. The slideshow of tributes included Euphoria star Angus Cloud,...

Matthew Perry received an emotional tribute during the 2023 Emmys In Memoriam segment, which also included late stars such as Len Goodman, Andre Braugher, Lance Reddick, Paul Reubens, Barbara Walters, Angela Lansbury, Kirstie Alley and more. Pop singer Charlie Puth and singer-songwriter duo The War and Treaty performed during the segment, first starting with a rendition of Puth’s “See You Again” before delivering a stripped-down cover of the “Friends” theme song (“I’ll Be There for You” by The Rembrandts).
Perry died unexpectedly on Oct. 28, 2023 at 54 years old. He was found unresponsive in a hot tub at his Los Angeles home, according to law enforcement. There were no signs of foul play or drugs on the scene. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office later revealed that he died from “the acute effects of ketamine.”
Perry was best known for playing the hilarious, sarcastic Chandler Bing on “Friends” in the ’90s and early 2000s.

Updated Jan. 12, 11:20 a.m.: Updated to include more reunions information, plus additional presenters and performers.
Fox is bringing back two of its 1990s staples — “Martin” and “Ally McBeal” — for one night only. The two shows are among the roster of cast reunions planned for the 75th Emmys on Fox this Monday.
Emmy Awards executive producers Jesse Collins, Dionne Harmon and Jeannae Rouzan-Clay have planned a ceremony that leans heavily on the history of TV, given the award’s diamond anniversary. Tributes and reunions will focus on decades from the 1950s to the present.
“I think they’ll be talking about the ones that they may see on the screen,” Rouzan-Clay says of the reunions. “Those are going to be a big talking point, a big watercooler moment, if you will. … It was a grand task to figure out how to celebrate 75 years of television. If we can bring some nostalgia to that stage,...

When the 1962-1963 American television season kicked off, there was a notable absence on CBS' schedule: "The Twilight Zone" had been bumped from its Friday 10 Pm timeslot and replaced by a new sitcom titled "Fair Exchange." This was quite the blow to its devoted fans, who adored the series for its unusually heady treatment of the science fiction, horror, and suspense genres. Though that itch would get scratched by the debut of ABC's "The Outer Limits," viewers looked forward to embarking on mind-bending journeys once a week with the show's creator and frequent writer Rod Serling.
Fortunately, CBS had no plans to cancel "The Twilight Zone." The show just needed to find a new sponsor before it could once again haunt the airwaves. Once this issue got settled, CBS was keen to trumpet its January 1963 return in any way it could -- and it hit upon a brilliant bit of...
