“I have very little to say except that I think it very charming and kind of you all to give us your Sunday night,” said a disarming Julian Fellowes at the NYC premiere of Downton Abbey: A New Era last Sunday. Distributor Focus Features – and the broader industry — hopes audiences will give the film many more Sunday nights, and other days and dayparts, jumpstarting the return to theaters of older demos.

Compounded by chaotic roommates and wildly unpredictable twists and turns, London’s day keeps going downhill until, ultimately, he is forced to choose between pursuing his one true love and landing a life-changing, starring role in a major motion picture.
Whitney Cummings plays London’s agent, while Mod Sun and Pete Davidson star as his friends. Megan Fox also has a special guest appearance, with the ensemble cast rounded out by Dove Cameron, GaTa, Zach Villa, Jenna Boyd and Boo Johnson.

Spoiler Alert: Do not read if you have not yet watched the final season of “Atypical,” streaming now on Netflix.
The U.S. was reeling from its worst Covid-19 surge when the “Atypical” cast and crew began filming its fourth and final season. The Netflix series has always leaned into warm undertones, but emitting a sense of aspiration and joy was now more important that ever.
“Especially coming from where we’re coming from in the pandemic, it would have been hard for us to write a really bummer ending. I think we just needed this,” “Atypical” creator Robia Rashid says. “I get so happy every single time because it is really cool to see somebody on the spectrum doing what [Sam’s] doing at the end of the show.”
Filmed from January to March, Rashid explains that everyone “worked three times as hard to make this season,” which included wearing full PPE for 14 hours a day.

Exclusive There have been a handful of exits of Netflix executives from different areas related to kids and family programming, I have learned. I hear the layoffs took place over the past two to three weeks. Five people were impacted.
The list includes Jenna Boyd, Director, Kids & Family Original Series; Jill Stewart Sanford, Manager, Original Animation; Josh Fisher, Creative Executive Manager, Original Animation; Shannon Smith, Counsel, Business & Legal Affairs; and Julius Harper, Manager, Interactive.
I hear the departures are not part of cutbacks in kids and family programming, which has been one of Netflix’s growth areas in the past couple of years, and no other layoffs are expected.
I hear Smith’s role will likely be absorbed by other Netflix BA executives, while the other positions will likely be refilled.

Netflix’s Atypical is a refreshing comedy that stars Keir Gilchrist as an 18-year-old on the autism spectrum. Since premiering, it has garnered acclaim and praise for the representation of autism via a comedic lens. After screening the eventful and emotional season 2 finale at the Atx Television Festival, Executive Producer Mary Rohlich was joined on stage by the show’s stars Brigette Lundy-Paine, Fivel Stewart, Jenna Boyd and Amy Okuda to discuss the season finale, how the show handles the autism narrative and what we could expect from season 3.
Rohlich credits show creator Robia Rashid (who was unable to make it to Austin because she was sick) for how the show represents the autism community with empathy and thoughtfulness. “We have a lot of awareness about representing all of our characters, but in particular Sam,” she said. “As we develop our stories, we make sure things are authentic by working...

Atypical has some more stories left to tell at Netflix.
The streaming giant announced Wednesday that Atypical has landed a third season renewal.
Plot details are scarce, but we do know that the order is for ten episodes.
Atypical Season 2 launched in September and focused on the Gardner family as they attempted to pick up the pieces following everyone learning about Elsa's infidelity.
Doug was struggling to assess whether his marriage was worth saving or if he was better off trying to raise his children without Elsa under the same roof as them.

Netflix’s latest show is about a teenage boy venturing into the world of dating for the first time–but his story’s not as typical as it sounds. “Atypical” is a dramedy about Sam (Keir Gilchrist), an 18-year-old with Autism Spectrum Disorder (Asd) who is navigating the world of girls and dating. As Sam is dealing with new “practice” girlfriend Paige (Jenna Boyd), his family is dealing with problems of their own. Trying to overcome her helicopter-parent habits, mom Elsa (Jennifer Jason Leigh), enters into an affair with a younger bartender. Dad Doug (Michael Rapaport) is surprised when Sam turns to him for.

First pitched at San Diego Comic-Con, Cupcakery Of Doom is now a reality…
Writer-cartoonist Trevor Reece is the first to get his show picked up by Nickelodeon after they accepted over a hundred pitches at July’s San Diego Comic Con.

She added that “it was a grueling and gratifying three-day open call, and everyone who pitched us was talented and passionate,” before hinting that Trevor’s isn...
