Taylor Sheridan’s Yellowstone has been a ginormous hit for Paramount, that hooked millions of viewers to the screen, with Kevin Costner’s phenomenal performance and the show’s gripping storyline. The success of the original show even spun off multiple projects, based on the Dutton family universe in various centuries. But unfortunately, the success seemingly got plagued with Costner and Sheridan’s behind-the-scenes drama.

Taylor Sheridan sparked outrage when he stated that his 2017 film Wind River played a major part in the Reauthorization of the Violence Against Women Act that President Joe Biden signed into law in 2022. This reauthorization played a huge part in strengthening its reach to the Native communities. Needless to say, Native groups were and still are quite furious at Taylor Sheridan for trying to take credit for the decades of advocacy behind the act.

Reservation Dogs actress’ Jana Schmieding opened up about why she would never blame these actors for working with Taylor Sheridan as the representation of Native people in the industry is almost non-existent today.

Taylor Sheridan has been deeply instrumental to the entertainment industry as far as the Western genre is concerned. The creator of Yellowstone and its various spinoffs, the director-write-actor, is a one-man army who has single-handedly created one of the most prolific TV shows of our times.

However, his legacy is not without controversy. Just a year ago, while discussing awards and accolades, the Yellowstone creator went on to state how his film Wind River changed a groundbreaking law in the US. Apparently, a blatant lie, members of the Native communities called him out and asked him to apologize.

Well, that was quite the bloodbath!
Tracker is many things, but in general, it's not super heavy on death, though that can be a natural conclusion to an action-adventure story. Violence can and will lead to people losing their lives.
But Tracker Season 1 Episode 10 was heavy on murder, with many people caught up in the aftermath of a heist gone wrong.
Much like Tracker Season 1 Episode 7 was a showcase for Bobby, this hour gave us some insight into Reenie, who finally returned triumphantly after being Mia for a while.
Although we didn't get to meet her father, he was a factor, as his friend needed help, and it's always a treat when Gil Birmingham pops up in a show we love.
It was an exciting turn for Reenie to request a favor from Colton rather than hiring him, even though Colter would be getting paid in the end.

True crime is getting more and more entertaining by the day and I don’t if that’s a good thing or a bad one. We have another brilliant true crime drama series, Under the Bridge, created by Quinn Shephard. Based on a 2005 book of the same name by Rebecca Godfrey, the Hulu series is set in 1997 and it follows the murder case of a 14-year-old girl which we see through the eyes of local police officer Cam Bentland and the author Godfrey. Under the Bridge stars Lily Gladstone and Riley Keough in the lead roles with Virtika Gupta, Chloe Guidry, Javon “Wanna” Walton, and Izzy G starring in supporting roles. So, if you love the thrilling and dreadful story of Under the Bridge, here are some other shows that have similar tone and story elements that you should check out next.

Taylor Sheridan’s Wind River sits at an exclusive roundtable of perfectly written and directed movies that capture stories with artistic gusto and an important socio-cultural message. The film shook Hollywood awake from its dreary lull of banality and inspired a sense of urgent and original storytelling.

The fourth episode of "X-Men '97" is, in fact, two episodes crammed into one. The first half, called "Motendo," is about Jubille (Holly Chou) being teleported into Mojoworld where she is forced to fight inside a violent video game at the behest of a TV goblin named Mojo. The second half, called "Lifedeath, Part 1," follows Storm (Alison Sealy-Smith) after she lost her weather-controlling superpowers in the previous episode. It was quite a blow for Storm who was essentially a goddess. Now a mere mortal with no mastery of the elements, Storm is approached by a character named Forge (Gil Birmingham) with a proposal that they team up for an unspecified mission.
Forge had previously appeared in "X-Men: The Animated Series" (voiced by Marc Strange) as the leader of X-Factor, a separate team of super-mutants. Forge has the uncanny ability to intuit machines just by handling them, making him the world's greatest mechanic.

"X-Men '97" is bringing the marvelous mutant heroes back to the small screen like they never left it, picking up right after the original series finale, "Graduation Day." Since that aired, the show's '90s setting has gone from contemporary to period piece.
The long-awaited trailer for "X-Men '97" debuted on February 15, 2024, and there's plenty to discuss even with less than 2 minutes of footage. For one, we've now finally seen the series' animation style, which brings modern shading and three-dimensionality to the original's classic cartoon look.
Much of the original voice cast is back (even if they only get a line each to show it), while Ray Chase and Matthew Waterson sound uncanny as Cyclops and Magneto. I'll admit I've been skeptical of "X-Men '97" before now — I've never been a huge fan of the original (the production values were quite low and often off-putting). Plus, the X-Men's world is so vast,...

There's a reason why "Yellowstone" feels as authentic as it does. For all the backstabbing, fistfights, and unchecked greed on display that make the show seem so outlandish at times, the countless scenes showing everyday life on a fully functioning Montana cattle ranch are meticulously researched and crafted. There is some true cowboying on display and all of the actors have had to endure an outdoor boot camp before the start of each season. There are even a few real-life cowboys featured throughout the series, including actor and "Yellowstone" creator Taylor Sheridan who plays the recurring role of rodeo rider and horse trader Travis Wheatley. Actor Forrie J. Smith, who plays the handlebar mustache-sporting old-timer Lloyd Pierce, also grew up competing in rodeos before trying his hand at stunt work and horse wrangling for the movies.

Daisy Ridley, the cornerstone star of Disney's recent "Star Wars" trilogy, has a new movie out in theaters right now. Unfortunately, it seems like getting that news out to the masses proved challenging as hardly anyone went to see the film in question, which is director Neil Burger's "The Marsh King's Daughter." Sad to say, the movie tanked on its opening weekend, failing to even crack the Top 10 on the charts despite playing on more than 1,000 screens.
"The Marsh King's Daughter" debuted at just $849,120 over the weekend, putting it all the way at number 13 on the charts, per Box Office Mojo. You might recognize Taylor Sheridan from his role as David Hale on "Sons of Anarchy" or Travis Wheatley in Paramount+'s "Yellowstone," but the actor's work on screen is arguably not as impressive as the stacked résumé of films and television shows that he has written.
Sheridan began acting in the 1990s and took on a number of small roles in various TV shows and movies throughout the remainder of the decade into the 2000s. But his career as an actor never quite took off, which is when he discovered his talent and passion for screenwriting. After writing the pilot for "Mayor of Kingstown" in 2011, he knew that's exactly what he was meant to do. "I was a fair actor, but that's all I was ever going to be," Sheridan told The Hollywood Reporter in a June 2023 interview. "Hollywood will tell you what you're supposed to do if you listen.

In 2018, Ben Foster and Thomasin McKenzie starred in a wilderness drama called Leave No Trace in which a father taught his daughter to live off the grid well out of view of “civilization.” I thought of that as I viewed the new thriller The Marsh King’s Daughter, but for some reason this story kept reminding me more of 1962’s terrifying suspense drama Cape Fear, as well as its Martin Scorsese-directed 1991 remake. Maybe it is just because of the remote setting and a key character who comes back and sparks terror in the hearts of a family that didn’t know what they were in for.
Jacob (Ben Mendelsohn) is known as the elusive Marsh King, a man who kidnaps a young woman named Beth (Caren Pistorius) and takes her to the remote marshlands of Michigan, where he torments her and becomes father to their daughter Helena (Brooklynn Prince...

In the opening of Neil Burger’s The Marsh King’s Daughter, based on Karen Dionne’s 2017 novel of the same name, it’s not the king or his daughter who first captivates us but the marsh itself. As the film begins, the camera crawls through the reeds growing in the swamps of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, capturing scuttling bugs and twisting branches in loving close-ups while the softest sunlight breaks in between the trees and ethereal music echoes in the air. Recalling Terrence Malick’s films, the moment paints the marshlands as a kind of paradise.
We’re immediately drawn into the world as it exists to young Helena Holbrook (Brooklynn Prince). The hunter-gatherer existence that defines Helena and her family is the only one she’s ever known. For Helena, the marshlands are a place of comfort and wonder. This is largely because her father, Jacob (Ben Mendelsohn), raised...

Based on nothing but its name, Neil Burger’s “The Marsh King’s Daughter” sounds like the first draft of a Shakespeare comedy or maybe a fantasy adventure about a princess who inherits a spirited wetland full of talking birds and bullfrogs. Indeed, the title first belonged to a Hans Christian Andersen story about a pair of talking storks who build their nest atop the home of a Viking warrior, and Burger’s movie — much like the 2017 Karen Dionne novel on which it’s based — re-uses it as part of a conscious effort to set fantastical expectations for what turns out to be a grounded (if somewhat dubious) psychological thriller.
It’s a fitting misdirect for a film about a tween girl whose seemingly magical childhood, spent way off the grid in the wilderness of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, is violently disenchanted by the discovery that her father is actually a...

The wait for the last-ever episodes of Yellowstone has been excruciating, but we now know when the final episodes are set to air.
Paramount Network confirmed Thursday that the second half of Yellowstone Season 5 is set to premiere in November 2024.
While the episodes were initially set to premiere this summer, Kevin Costner's availability, as well as the SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes, took the series out of contention for a 2023 return date.
Yellowstone tells the sprawling story of the Dutton family, and the series doesn't exactly have a fast turnaround time when it comes to production.
Amid alleged behind-the-scenes drama, Paramount confirmed earlier this year that the red-hot series would end with these final episodes of the season.
Before the series ending announcement, six episodes remained of Yellowstone Season 5, but there's a good chance that will change now that the last-minute decision to end the show has been made.

To celebrate the arrival of executive producer Taylor Sheridan’s ratings-busting contemporary Western saga on CBS, we lassoed some fun facts about the drama. See what goes into making this epic tale centered around rich Montana ranch owner John Dutton (Kevin Costner), who’s willing to lie, cheat and kill to keep his family’s land from developers and the local tribe. 1. John Dutton was written with Costner in mind. But the Oscar winner wasn’t the only cast member who didn’t have to audition. Shoo-ins: Cole Hauser as John’s right-hand man Rip Wheeler and Gil Birmingham as Chief Thomas Rainwater, who alternates between Dutton friend and foe. 2. Sheridan supplies most of the horses. He grew up partly on a Texas ranch, has partaken in riding competitions and has appeared on the show as horse trader Travis Wheatley. 3. Kelly Reilly is the best rider. But her character, John...

Observing a helicopter zip across a mountainous skyline accompanying a fleet of cowboys on horseback, running at full speed below is a jarring visual. It’s as if time and space have suddenly fused. In an instant, the past and the present meet in the middle to produce something that is at once familiar and entirely unexpected. Some 60 years removed from Western films dominating the box office, fans of the genre can now turn on their televisions weekly, diving into Taylor Sheridan’s neo-western “Yellowstone.” The series originally debuted in 2018 on the basic cable channel Paramount Network, spawning an enormous fandom and two spinoffs, “1883” and “1923,” on corporate sibling streamer Paramount+. Now, amid the ongoing WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, which have generated a sparse fall TV lineup, “Yellowstone” is getting a big platform boost and a new home on the Paramount-owned broadcast network, CBS.

The first season of Yellowstone will be rerun on CBS starting tonight, and that will likely spark additional interest in the modern Western drama series. The first half of the fifth season has aired on Paramount Network, and the second half has been stalled due to the actors and writers strikes, as well as a dispute with its star, Kevin Costner. The latter was likely a contributing factor to the very popular show's cancellation by Paramount.
Starring Costner, Luke Grimes, Kelly Reilly, Wes Bentley, Cole Hauser, Kelsey Asbille, Brecken Merrill, Forrie Smith, Denim Richards, Ian Bohen, Finn Little, Ryan Bingham, Gil Birmingham, Mo Brings Plenty, Wendy Moniz, Jen Landon, Kathryn Kelly, the Paramount Network drama follows the Dutton family of Montana, the owners of the Yellowstone ranch.

We might not know when we’ll see the Duttons again for their final episodes, but there’s more than one way for you to catch up on or rewatch the four and a half seasons of Yellowstone that are out already. And the best news of all for cable viewers is that the show is finally headed to network TV later in September. The Paramount Network drama chronicles the Dutton family, led by John Dutton (Kevin Costner), who controls the largest contiguous cattle ranch in the United States. Amid shifting alliances, unsolved murders, open wounds and hard-earned respect, the ranch is in constant conflict with properties it borders — an expanding town, an Indian reservation and America’s first national park. In addition to Costner, the cast includes Luke Grimes, Kelly Reilly, Wes Bentley, Cole Hauser, Kelsey Asbille, Gil Birmingham, and others. Since it premiered in 2018, Taylor Sheridan has expanded...

Daisy Ridley is returning to the silver screen this fall in "The Marsh King's Daughter," and it looks to be another unique entry in her filmography after wrapping up the "Star Wars" sequel trilogy in 2019. Based on Karen Dionne's novel of the same name and hailing from Lionsgate, this is an action/thriller that sees Ridley going toe-to-toe with another "Star Wars" alum by way of "Rogue One" in the form of Ben Mendelsohn, who is playing her estranged father. Let's get ready to rumble.
It's the latest in a string of unique, post-franchise choices that Ridley has made, including starring in the unfortunately disastrous YA adaptation "Chaos Walking" or giving comedy a go in Judd Apatow's "The Bubble." She also starred in the drama "Sometimes I Think About Dying," which debuted at Sundance earlier this year. And yes, she's going to return as Rey in a galaxy far,...

“The Marsh King’s Daughter” is finally headed to the big screen. The adaptation of the bestselling 2017 novel by Karen Dionne, starring Daisy Ridley, Ben Mendelsohn and Garrett Hedlund, is due in theaters on Oct. 6, and the trailer has just arrived, still wet from the swamp. Watch it above.
Ridley plays a woman who, when she was a child (Brooklynn Prince plays her as a child), was abducted by her violent father (Mendelsohn). When he escapes from prison, she is forced to confront her past, open up to her husband (Hedlund) and brace herself for her father’s return. Will she make it out alive? Or will her father, nicknamed the Marsh King, take her down, once and for all?
The project was initially developed back in 2018, with “The Revenant” writer Mark L. Smith penning a screenplay for “The Imitation Game” director Morten Tyldum and Alicia Vikander in the role now played by Ridley.

Lionsgate and STX are moving forward with a partnership that involves Lionsgate handling the domestic distribution of STX’s upcoming film slate.
Under this new deal, Lionsgate will handle marketing and distribution for future STX theatrical releases in North America. It will also distribute the company’s 75-title library across all platforms and will include the development of several scripted TV series based on popular titles from STX’s library, including “Bad Moms” and “Hustlers.”
The first motion picture under this agreement will be “The Marsh King’s Daughter.” Roadside Attractions joined the two studios to announce that the film will debut exclusively in theaters by Roadside on October 6.
“Theatrical exhibition continues to be essential to our company, and that’s especially true for movies like ‘The Marsh King’s Daughter’ and its director, Neil Burger, with whom we had such a fantastic success with ‘The Upside,'” said STX Entertainment CEO Noah Fogelson.

Mo Brings Plenty has openly said that he was ready to quit acting before Yellowstone came along. An enrolled member of the Lakota Nations, he was frustrated with the cultural misappropriation he saw onscreen, until he was cast in the first season of the Paramount Network flagship series that launched in 2018. As the right-hand man to Broken Rock Tribe chief Thomas Rainwater (played by Gil Birmingham), Mo (also the name of his character) began as a smaller role that expanded with each season of the Kevin Costner-led series created by Taylor Sheridan. But it’s from behind the scenes that Brings Plenty helps to provide a grassroots-level of authenticity to the franchise’s Native storylines — a rarity, he acknowledges, when it comes to representation onscreen. “If you want accuracy, then you have to come to a few of us. We’re not a dime a dozen anymore,” says Yellowstone‘s Native affairs coordinator,...
