Anna and Zoe (Sasha Pieterse) are twin sisters, sharing the classic close bond that almost nobody can mess with. This stays true until Anna meets Nick (Parker Young), with the two quickly falling in love. While Anna is romantic and trusting, Zoe is aloof and suspicious, determined to get to the bottom of who Nick really is.
Listen up, Pretty Little Liars fans — the sequel to a storyline that never actually existed just dropped. It comes as no surprise that The Image of You is based on a thriller novel of the same name, just as the storyline closely resembling the hit TV series makes complete sense. If you’re looking for astounding or impressive filmmaking, you’ve come to the wrong place. But if you’re prepared to take absolutely everything you...

“It may sound like an exaggeration, but it’s not, today’s legal ruling is a great day for America because it instills in us the faith that there is a justice system,” proclaimed Harvey Weinstein’s lawyer Arthur Aidala today after New York’s Appeals Court threw out his client’s 2020 conviction and ordered a new trial.
“If it’s a former president of the United States or the most storied Hollywood producer of our generation, the law applies to everyone,” Aidala added Thursday just a few feet away from the criminal court building where Donald Trump’s hush money trial is going on right now.
“It’s like this case begins brand new, like it was …six years ago when he was initially arrested and brought in” the attorney said of what happens next, saying he passed the news of the ruling onto Weinstein early this morning as the order was released.

"What has Anna told you about her past?" Paramount Movies has revealed an official trailer for a romantic comedy thriller titled The Image of You, from filmmaker Jeff Fisher. Arriving to watch in theaters and on VOD directly this May - from director who mostly works in TV and directs cheesy romantic TV movies. The film is about identical twins Anna and Zoe - both played by Sasha Pieterse. It's based on the book of the same name and that description sums it up nicely: Anna and Zoe are twins. Identical in appearance, utterly different in personality, they share a bond so close that nothing – or no one – can rip them apart. Until Anna meets charismatic Nick. Anna is trusting, romantic & hopeful; she thinks Nick is perfect. Zoe is daring, dangerous & extreme; she thinks Nick is a liar. Zoe has seen Anna betrayed by men before. She'll stop at nothing...

Her comments came in response to Mira Sorvino saying Weinstein had “stifled” her career following her 1996 Oscar for best supporting actress. “I stopped being a viable movie actress,” Sorvino said.
Weinstein, co-founder of Miramax, was at the heart of the 2017 #MeToo movement and is currently serving multiple jail sentences for rape and sexual assault.

A whopping 26 (or 70.3%) of the last decade’s worth of acting Oscar recipients – including 2024’s Emma Stone (“Poor Things”), Robert Downey Jr. (“Oppenheimer”), and Da’Vine Joy Randolph (“The Holdovers”) – were born in the United States. Also counted here is Joaquin Phoenix, who originates from the U.S. territory of Puerto Rico. Compared to the group of performers who prevailed between 2005 and 2014, the 2015-2024 set includes six more Americans, constituting a 16% larger majority. Considering all 96 years of Academy Awards history, the rate of unique American acting victors stands at 68.1%.
Stone, who earned her first of two Best Actress trophies for “La La Land” (2017), is now the first-ever dual honoree from Arizona, with the only other acting winner from her state being Troy Kotsur. Before they came along, the sole nominee to have been born there was Mare Winningham, who lost to New Yorker Mira Sorvino (“Mighty Aphrodite”).

As the dawn of the new millennium approached, the world would start to see a trend of films that would become very mainstream. These types of movies are action horror video game adaptations. As stated in our previous video, there have been a number of different ones, but nothing stood out more than Resident Evil. In 2002, we were graced with the first in this series. It may not have been the critic’s favorite, but it did well enough at the box office to spawn a sequel. The name of that sequel is Resident Evil: Apocalypse (watch it Here). With a title that big, you would think the filmmakers went for bigger, better and more destructive…right? For the most part, yes and they even packed in some surprises for fans of the series. So today on Horror Revisited we ask that you suit up and strap in for Alice...

Winning an Oscar by making us laugh. What a way to make a living!
What makes a performance “Oscar-worthy”? Many often leap to sustained emotional investment or comprehensively immersive transformations as the benchmark for success at the Academy Awards. But if the Oscars celebrate the performances that elicit the strongest emotional responses then why do show-stopping comedic performances so often receive the cold-shoulder? There is a relatively easy answer to this question found within the progression of American film across the past half-century. Cinema throughout the 1930s, 40s, and 50s saw the proliferation of genre filmmaking, with behemoths like the musical, western, epic, and comedy reigning supreme. During these decades, all of these styles saw success both popularly as cherished classics amongst the general public, and prestigiously as consistent award show champions.

Exclusive: Netflix’s The Lincoln Lawyer is bulking up its Season 3 cast with 4 new actors joining the fold: Merrin Dungey, Allyn Moriyon, John Pirruccello and Philip Anthony-Rodriguez.

Throughout the 96-year history of the Academy Awards, the amount of acting lineups consisting only of first-time nominees has reached 37, or about 10% of the overall total. While that number may not seem high in a general sense, these cases actually outnumber those exclusively involving veteran contenders by a ratio of three to one. However, although this list expanded as recently as 2023, rookie-only acting lineups are gradually becoming less common than veteran-only ones, the amount of which has nearly doubled within the last dozen years.
Whereas 75% of veteran-only acting quintets have involved lead performers rather than supporting ones, almost the exact opposite is true of lineups full of newcomers. For instance, only one existing case of the former kind concerns supporting actresses, whereas the same category has produced 15 rookie-only rosters. The last such group consisted of 2000 winner Angelina Jolie and nominees Toni Collette (“The Sixth Sense”), Catherine Keener (“Being John Malkovich...

Mira Sorvino confirms that she and Lisa Kudrow are finalising contracts for Romy And Michele’s High School Reunion 2. More here.
It was all the way back in 1997 that out of the blue, Hollywood gave us a pair of impressive high school reunion movies. First up, in the UK at least, was Grosse Pointe Blank, starring John Cusack. That had the better reviews and initial response at the time. Yet since then, it’s Romy And Michele’s High School Reunion that’s come far more to the fore.
Starring Mira Sorvino and Lisa Kudrow, and directed by David Mirkin, the original film – as discussed in an old Film Stories podcast episode here – was penned by Robin Schiff. She based it on a 1988 stage production called Ladies Room, and it was revealed a little while back that she was cooking up a Romy And Michele’s High School Reunion 2.

Shining Vale star Mira Sorvino was the favorite heading into Tuesday’s (January 2) Celebrity Jeopardy! semi-finals, but it was Abbott Elementary‘s Lisa Ann Walter who made an impressive comeback to take home the win. The semi-finals saw Sorvino facing off against Walter and Ghosts star Utkarsh Ambudkar, and it initially looked like Sorvino’s game to lose. She’d previously won her first game against CSI: Miami actor Adam Rodriguez and NFL Network host Peter Schrager, which aired just a day after she was eliminated from Dancing With the Stars. Jeopardy! producer Sarah Whitcomb Foss previously described this episode as “her favorite match of the season,” and it certainly lived up to the billing as all three contestants got out to a hot start, with all three within $300 at the first break. Walter had a slight lead after the Jeopardy! round after finding the first Daily Double, going into...

Celebrity Jeopardy! is nearly back as the latest season of the primetime competition picks up with the semifinals on January 2, and host Ken Jennings is pulling the curtain back on the upcoming games. While speaking about the upcoming matches — kicking off with Utkarsh Ambudkar, Mira Sorvino, and Lisa Ann Walter — Jennings gets candid about helming the hour-long format, getting starstruck, and taking influence from former host Alex Trebek. The new full-time syndication host breaks it down for us, below. (Credit: ABC/Eric McCandless) What has surprised you most about hosting Celebrity Jeopardy!? Ken Jennings: Hosting Jeopardy! at all has obviously been a learning curve for me. I’m still the new guy and luckily it’s a very tight format where you at least know where you are on the show at any given moment. That’s what people like about Jeopardy! as viewers. I think that it’s a predictable,...

Back in 1996, the Twister cast, outside of Helen Hunt and Bill Paxton was largely unknown. At the time, not too many of them were famous. However, in the years since the film, much of that has changed and much of the Twister cast has gone on to fame both in front and behind the camera.
Helen Hunt was arguably the film’s biggest star in the cast back in ’96, but she wasn’t the first choice for the movie. Before the role of Dr. Jo Harding went to her, Jurassic Park standout Laura Dern, Bridget Fonda, and Kate Mulgrew almost wore the good doctor’s white tank top and reinforced mud-stompers. Initially, Tom Hanks eyed the role of Bill Harding but ultimately felt Twister wasn’t the right fit for his brand of character creation. Other actors floated for Bill Harding include Kevin Costner, Michael Keaton, Kurt Russell, Richard Gere,...

After Alex Trebek’s death in 2020, the first person to step behind the Jeopardy! lectern was Ken Jennings.
The winningest contestant in Jeopardy! history, Jennings was named the syndicated program’s permanent co-host last year alongside Mayim Bialik, with the two of them splitting hosting duties on the daily syndicated show and on its primetime specials.
On Dec. 15 Bialik revealed that she would no longer be hosting the syndicated edition of the program, with Jennings set to take over that program on a full-time basis.
Celebrity Jeopardy! will return to ABC on Tuesday, Jan. 2, at 8 p.m. for its semifinals and finals, and Jennings will be the master of ceremonies. Utkarsh Ambudkar (Ghosts), Mira Sorvino (Shining Veil) and Lisa Ann Walter (Abbott Elementary) will be the contestants for the first semifinal, looking to earn money for the charities of their choosing.
