Mayfair Witches (2023)
Ignore the Boog Fans.. It's good
First off, ignore the book fans. Just like every other movie or TV series that was adapted from a book or series of books the fans of said books will typically drive down the review score into the toilet because it didn't live up to THEIR expectations. Forget these people.
That being said, based on the first episode of this new series, this is a very good show so far. I think the settings in San Francisco and New Orleans are beautifully shot. The setup of the narrative and lore of this world are handled very well in the sense they left the audience wanting to learn more about this world, the magic and seemingly underground society of witches and who knows what else.
Alexandra Daddario also does an excellent job in the lead role of Rowan. Apart from being drop dead gorgeous, she already shows in the first episode a good range of acting chops including a very convincing emotional scene.
I for one look forward to the rest of the first season and seeing what other roles Daddario works on based on her stellar performance in this.
House of the Dragon (2022)
An Amazing Start!
This is based on the first two episodes. I am already in love with this show. Truly fantastic and off to a better start than Game of Thrones. As a huge fan of GoT I will say that like many people I was massively disappointed with how that show finished and rushed many story lines so I hope that doesn't happen again with HOT-D.
Now I am hesitant to say it is better than Game of Thrones this early, but I will say that it has started stronger. GoT started much slower. We waited years to see dragons and much of the brutality it became known for. Not the case with HOT-D. After about 20-30 minutes you are thrown right in. Dragons, violence, sex.. it is epic in every way. So so good and the performances are also amazing.
The only minor complaint I have to this point is that the show needs a Tyrion. By that I mean it needs a loveable comic relief character that you want to root for. It is far too early say if that will come later, but right now I feel it needs that to break up all the seriousness going on.
That's all for now. Might adjust rating in future one way or another, but so far it is better than expected.
The Chi (2018)
The Ultimate Bait & Switch - Seasons 1-5 Review
I've been a watcher of this show since the very first episode, but this show is no longer what it started as. I just finished the Valentines Day episode in Season 5 and I'm just done with this show.
The Chi first 2-3 seasons are great. Season 1 is clearly the best by far as it was exactly what the show was advertised as. It focuses on Chicago's south side, gang violence, drugs, relationships and a murder mystery to boot. It was excellent.
Now fast forward to season 5 and it has only one of those elements. Relationships. The Chi has slowly devolved into being just a show about black couples that apparently live in the city of Chicago. That's it. It has zero substance. You can barely even tell anymore that this is set in Chicago. If you're going to call a show "The Chi" than the city of Chicago should almost be like a character or an extension of the characters in the show. The way it has become it may as well be filmed in Toronto. For all I know it is. At this point nothing would surprise me.
As a male viewer I'm just sick of this show and can't watch another painful minute. Sitting there just waiting for something.. ANYTHING to happen. What a shame. My fiance is getting bored with it too so this isn't just a male only perspective if I can throw that out there on her behalf.
The Northman (2022)
Overrated Borefest
Just like every single Robert Eggers film this is an overrated pile of crap made for critics that enjoy the smell of their own farts.
While it is beautifully filmed and well acted that does not make for an enjoyable film unless you're a snobby upper middle class cuck. It is weird at the start and the end is meaningless.
You may like this film if you're the type of person that enjoys fermenting their own sourdough or brewing beer and sniffing wine more often than you actually drink them.
For every other person out there this is a hard pass. It is not a enjoyable fun viking movie with gore and action. I mean.. it has that for like 3 minutes. The rest will put you to sleep. You could not pay me to sit through this again.

Best New Show Since LOST!
Based on the first 3 episodes...
I am a massive fan of the LOST series and this is honestly the first show since LOST that has actually felt like it. It is from the producers of the show, but so many other shows have used this claim and fell so far from what that show was. It's not the original writers or anything like that, but it gives a similar vibe to always having new questions that need answers at the end of each episode.
I honestly cannot wait for the next episode to come out. If you enjoyed LOST then you'll probably like this. There are also some similarities to Walking Dead, Midnight Mass and probably others you may notice. I wouldn't say its exactly like any one of these series, but there's a good mix of elements from those shows that fans of them will probably appreciate. One of the best new shows I've watched in years.
Home Sweet Home Alone (2021)
Ignore the bad reviews...
This is NOT a bad movie. It's a very enjoyable holiday film for the family or to watch with your significant other.
No it is not better than the first two movies, but it is eons better than HA3.
The references back to the original are done tastefully. The cast is solid and performances are all good.
Ignore these incels that give it 1 stars. It's a decent film and I'm not easily pleased.
The Many Saints of Newark (2021)
Beyond Disappointing.. no spoilers
Having watched the series from start to finish at least four times I can remember, it should go without saying that's I've been counting the days for this movie release only to be let down big time.
I was expecting a great Sopranos prequel when all I got was a below average gangster film with Sopranos references.
I mean.. I wasn't expecting a masterpiece like The Irishman, but I had hoped it would be at least as good as an average Sopranos episode. This just ain't it.
A lot of it feels rushed. There's not much of a plot that you feel invested in. Last but not least is that Tony is barely in it.
After all this time they could have done so much better with a mini series than whatever this is. I can't imagine I'll ever revisit this film because it adds nothing to the backstory of the Sopranos series. What a shame.
Cooking with Paris (2021)
It Will Make you Rethink your Netflix Subscription
Hands down the worst thing on Netflix. I seriously logged into my account settings and thought about canceling my subscription, but my wife and kid use it too much.
There are so many talented chefs out there that a new generation finds interesting they could have gave a show; Action Bronson, Matty Matheson, Babish.. but no we have to watch a talentless rich girl winge through cooking.
Let's Be Evil (2016)
Hands Down Worst Movie Ever Made..
Honestly, I didn't think a movie could be worse than Superfast, but this one takes the prize. A true 10/10 for pure cinematic excrement.
It is Crit1kal that you make time to check this one out. Two ambidextrous thumbs up.
The Underground Railroad (2021)
Great show, just not historically accurate, but that's okay
The wife and I are 5 episodes in and so far its excellent, but there's a few things you should know before jumping in, spoiler free.
Number one is this show is not historically accurate in anyway and that's okay, but you should know that. The only true thing about this show is that slavery existed and there was an "underground railroad", but that is not accurately represented.
The Underground Railroad in this show is a literal railroad and in the historical sense it was not, but rather used as a way to secretly communicate the movement of runaway slaves to the north. There are also several other historical inaccuracies, but again that's okay as long as you look at the show as a complete work of fiction that has SOME historical context.
That being said, the show is excellent when you omit historical accuracy. Its a great work of fiction with good acting, cinematography, directing and writing. Very enjoyable and look forward to seeing the end of the story.
Stowaway (2021)
This is a good movie
Giving this a 10 because other people are giving it a 1 which is unfair. This is a solid space film. Fair score would be a 7. Its no Interstellar or The Martian, but its a completely watchable movie.
100 Days to Live (2019)
This is NOT a Good Movie
I honestly have to question the validity of these other high score reviews because this is NOT a good movie. The acting and writing are just god awful. Its a budget thriller, but it does not have an indie feel to it. It just feels like someone tried to make a big budget Hollywood thriller and couldn't get funding because of the terrible script.
That said the movie is watchable, but it is not really a recommendation. I would never suggest this movie to a friend, but if its on TV at like 1 in the morning you might be able to sit through it. Just that kind of movie if you know what I mean. I've seen Law & Order episodes with better performances and writing.. AND I HATE LAW & ORDER!
The plot twist was unexpected. I'll give them that much, but the previous 80 minutes wasn't worth the wait.
The Cabin with Bert Kreischer (2020)
Maybe the Greatest Idea in TV History
If you like the crew from the Joe Rogan podcast then this is for you. Awesome idea and executed perfectly. Non stop laughs.
The Silencing (2020)
Better than expected
This is definitely worth a watch. I'm a very picky viewer and if a film doesn't grab me in the first 10 minutes then I'll quickly turn it off. I'm happy to report this kept be interested for the full (nearly) 90 minute run time, which is the perfect length for a picture like this IMHO.
Jaime Lannister once again did not disappoint. I thoroughly enjoyed Shot Caller so I figured I'd give this a try as well and I'm glad I did. A couple decent plot twists along with good performances from all actors and a decent script held this picture together quite well.
Its far from Oscar worthy, but its also slightly above straight DVD, $1 store trash bin. Just a decent little thriller that should hold your attention for 90+ minutes. I recommend it.
P-Valley (2020)
The ONLY Review You Should Read
This is a great show. The writing and characters are are excellent. Its well filmed and it is worth a watch if you need a new show that is "binge-worthy".
All these 1 start reviews are a JOKE and its fairly obvious. Either they're offended by nudity or the portrayal of women as strippers. They prefer to have society swept under the rug.
Reality check. THE WORLD HAS STRIPPERS. The life isn't and often is not pretty. This show does not handle the topic in a demeaning way to women, but rather empowers them as for the majority of the characters this is their choice.
So please ignore the proods and feminist reviews that have downvoted this to oblivion on here. The show literally has a 100% rating on the fresh fruit website.
7500 (2019)
Authentic Thriller, guaranteed to please most!
A lot of low review scores on this that I don't get. I'm a very picky person and I found this film to be excellent. I couldn't look away during its 90 minute runtime which was PERFECT for this type of film.
The entire movie is set in the cockpit of a commercial airliner during a hijacking and despite that the performances and writing manage to grip you exceptionally well. You really feel like you are right there with these characters in real time experiencing a harrowing event.
If you have Prime there is no reason to skip this film. Give it a watch. You won't be disappointed.
Jack (1996)
One of Robin William's BEST
The critics got this wrong. The users even got this wrong.
This is one of Robin's best performances EVER. Great film with an interesting premise. I was absolutely gob smacked to see how low the score was for this movie from users and critics. It deserves so much more praise.
If you haven't seen this then you owe yourself the pleasure of checking it out if you're a fan of Robin's work.

Complete garbage
Bad acting. Bad writing. Terrible CGI effects. With Amazon's budget they should be embarrassed for making something this bad.
You should put as much effort into watching this as Amazon did in making it.. which is to say none.
Murder to Mercy: The Cyntoia Brown Story (2020)
Mercy for a MURDERER? How about NO.
Story of a convicted murderer that was 100% guilty by her own admission. Somehow we are meant to feel sorry for her because she finished some college courses? That doesn't make you innocent. It doesn't give back the life you took. She should still be in prison and never released.
Perpetual Grace, LTD (2019)
An absolutely amazing show!
This show was incredible from start to finish. Beautifully shot, great acting and hilarious at times. I can't recommend it strongly enough.
The only sad thing is that the show was cancelled. Its a downright shame. Thankfully they will be doing a limited second season to wrap up the storylines left unresolved. If this show had just one or two more episodes it could have just been a fantastic mini-series which is really what should have happened.
The Gentlemen (2019)
Barely a Guy Ritchie Film..
I'm a huge Ritchie fan for his gangster films, but this is not one of them. Not even close.
Just an overly narrated highlight reel. Boring af.
At the end of the day its extremely disappointing and not worth a watch from even the most devout Ritchie fan.
Hot Ones: The Game Show (2020)
Should have stuck with Youtube...
This show is horrendous. I absolutely love the Youtube interview show, but this format is so bad. Everything from the obviously paid actors in the audience and contestants to the way the questions are structured make this unwatchable.
Hands down the worst game show I've ever seen.
Jay and Silent Bob Reboot (2019)
Kevin Smith's WORST Movie
This movie is just awful. The jokes fall flat. The actors seem uninterested and the plot is just dull. I couldn't imagine a worse Jay & Silent Bob movie if I tried.
I'd also like to clarify that I'm a huge Kevin Smith fan. I enjoy his movies, stand up shows (Q & A) and pretty much any content he puts out there. Not only do I like his work, but I literally live the next town over from his comic book store in Red Bank, NJ and about 20 minutes from where the original Clerks was actually filmed in his hometown. So if anyone should be a blind fanboy for his movies it should be me, but this movie is just bad on every level.
See You Yesterday (2019)
Not WOKE Enough to Write a Good Ending
Despite being racially prejudice this was actually a good movie for the most part. I saw a lot of reviews complaining about the ending, but had to see for myself and yeah... its god awful. There is no closure or resolution at all.
This movie only got 2 stars because of the Michael J Fox cameo. If not for him it would be one stat.
Bright (2017)
This is a very enjoyable movie
If you've seen the trailer for this on Netflix and though it looked like it might be a good movie then you will get exactly what you were expecting. This film doesn't make itself out to be anything its not. To that end it has a few good jokes, decent action and a very interesting world which is really the gem of this movie.
The critics reviewing this movie should be fired. I saw several major publications giving this a zero out of 100!?!? In what way is that professional at all? Please ignore these people as it is a pretty good cop movie with a fantasy twist. I don't know who took a dump in their cornflakes, but they're simply wrong.
This is the first review I've ever taken the time to write because I'm extremely picky with my movies and I almost didn't watch it because of the bad reviews, but I'm really glad I listened to my instinct on this one. Good job Netflix.
