Netflix has greenlit a family drama series titled “The Waterfront” written by Kevin Williamson.
Per the official logline, the series is inspired by true events and “dives into the flawed Buckley family as their attempts to retain control of their crumbling North Carolina fishing empire drive them to increasingly dangerous means to keep themselves afloat.”
“The Waterfront” is being produced by Universal Television, and was announced to be in development earlier this year when Williamson entered an overall deal at the studio. He and Ben Fast serve as executive producers via Williamsons’s Outerbanks Entertainment banner.
Williamson is a veteran film and TV writer.

Serena Williams will be the host of the 2024 Espy Awards.
ESPN announced the pick of the tennis legend as this year’s Espys host during Disney’s upfront presentation to advertisers Tuesday, with American Idol host Ryan Seacrest breaking the news on stage. The event will be held July 11.
The Espy Awards are ESPN’s annual awards show celebrating the best of sports. Last year Patrick Mahomes and LeBron James were among the big winners, and for the first time the program went without a host (due in part to the ongoing Writers Guild strike).
Williams, of course, retired from professional tennis nearly two years ago.
That being said, she has kept busy, with media being one of her top priorities. Williams inked a two-book deal with Random House Publishing last year, beginning with an “intimate” memoir.

It was one of the best monologues in recent SNL history—and now fans can get an insider’s view of it.
Maya Rudolph’s “Mother” monologue on the May 11 episode—in which she launched into a musical number about how she’s a “mother” (as in the slang) in honor of Mother’s Day (as in the parent)—featured an original song and a choreographed routine that wound its way through Studio 8H and back to homebase.
The number went off without a hitch, but as is often the case on Saturday Night Live, pulling off such a tight live performance was a painstaking process. In a new installment of the show’s “Beyond Studio 8H” YouTube series, SNL musical director Eli Brueggemann offers a look at what it took to create Rudolph’s hit monologue.
“Maya’s a natural musician,” he explains early on in the video.

Bridgerton’s latest loves spent the first two seasons in the friend zone only to quickly flip the script just two episodes into Season 3. While Bridgerton set up the friends-to-lovers arc from the very beginning, Season 3 made way for the story to break free when Colin offers to help his “very good friend” learn the ways of wooing through various courting lessons so she can find a husband. But when their scheme is blown up after Eloise (Claudia Jessie) blabs at a ball, Penelope feels hopeless about her prospects, leading to one big ask from her bestie. Reasoning that she could die tomorrow and remain un-kissed, Penelope pleads with Colin to change that status, leading to a surprisingly sweet and poignant first kiss for the couple. [Warning: The following contains Major spoilers for Survivor Season 46 Episode 12, “Mama Bear.”] What’s the point of idols in Survivor 46? No one plays them! For the fourth vote in a row and fifth overall this season, a player was eliminated with an immunity idol in their pocket in the May 15 episode, setting a new record for the most playable idols being flushed out in one season. And it’s six if you count Randen, who didn’t get to use his idol before being pulled out of the game for medical reasons. Prior to Episode 12, Season 46 was tied with Island of the Idols with four flushed idols. Jeff Probst addresses this fifth idol flushed in tribal council in the newest episode of Survivor‘s On Fire podcast (full episode embedded below). Jem was the first player of Survivor 46 to be eliminated with an idol in her pocket. It wasn’t until post-merge that it happened again, but...

With loved ones visits being a thing of the past, how else can Survivor get its castaways crying? Why, letters from home, of course!
But before the tears are shed, Ben has something to clear up: He was the one who wrote Kenzie’s name down. And she’s absolutely bewildered! It really doesn’t make any sense at all. He says he drew a blank at the podium and forgot who to vote for. He just made a mistake! (Uhh, oops?) It’s almost funny to watch him try and explain it to his island sister, but when we...

Coming into the sixth night of Jeopardy! Masters Season 2, there were a couple of foregone conclusions: Victoria Groce (with 13 match points) and Yogesh Raut (with 10) were already qualified to play in the semifinals; unless James Holzhauer (who had 6) got shut out again, he was likely to advance as well; it was bound to be a close contest between Amy Schneider and Mattea Roach (also 5) for that fourth spot; and Matt Amodio (with just 1 single match point) had zero chance of playing past Wednesday night’s games. So how did the sextet of champions fare in the final night of Masters games? Here’s a look at the highlights. Game Eleven Raut, Holzhauer, and Amodio were matched up for their final “regular” game of this season, but, as mentioned above, the latter was necessarily going to come in sixth (still taking home a healthy $50k prize for his troubles), and Holzhauer...

“Ashley Madison: Sex, Lies & Scandal” is filled with tears, confessions and betrayal.
The Netflix docuseries, which premiered on May 15, revolves around the online dating site Ashley Madison, the slogan of which was “Life is Short. Have an Affair.” It was used by millions of married people who were looking to cheat on their partners. However, in July 2015, the website was hacked, and users’ information was exposed. The hack caused marriages to explode, ruined lives — and even ended some.

During its upfronts presentation on Wednesday, Netflix touted its massive active user count — a reported 40 million across the globe — and revealed some of its upcoming originals to advertisers. The streamer, which recently added ads to its platform, is hopping on a lot of trains next — from new cowboy shows to football game broadcasts to thriller adaptations — and just in time for that Comcast bundle with Peacock and Apple TV+, too! Here is a look at the latest in-the-works projects at the streamer. Tim McGraw is ready to ride, yeehaw! Who better to bring some of that Yellowstone cowboy action to Netflix than someone who’s already a part of that world? 1883 star Tim McGraw will star in an as-yet-untitled series about the world of competitive bull riding. McGraw’s character is described as “a megastar champion facing a life-or-death crossroads when confronted by the arrival of a fearless young rider...

With Bridgerton Season 3 ready to take the ballroom, you might be looking to revisit the Regency-era romance. Specifically Season 2, which aired in March 2022 and unlocks the love story of Viscount Anthony Bridgerton (Jonathan Bailey) and Miss Kate Sharma (Simone Ashley).
Over eight episodes, viewers witnessed the enemies-to-lovers journey of Anthony, a determined aristocrat, and Kate, the headstrong and loving sister of Edwina Sharma (Charithra Chandran). Although Anthony initially proposes to Edwina, it’s Kate he longs for.
As Anthony and Kate come to realize their undeniable connection, the rest of the Bridgerton family finds themselves in scandals and flirtations. Benedict (Luke Thompson) plays with the idea of art school. Colin (Luke Newton) returns from his travels abroad hungry for a purpose — and finds one by ousting the scheming Jack Featherington (Rupert Young) from the ton. Colin happens to save his “friend” Penelope (Nicola Coughlan) in the process.

Uh-oh, the new Da may be in some serious trouble in the Law & Order Season 23 finale. The NBC drama wraps its current season on May 16 with “In Harm’s Way,” in which a sports star is killed, but Shaw (Mehcad Brooks) and Riley (Reid Scott) suspect the shooter missed their intended target. In fact, in TV Insider’s exclusive sneak peek, Dixon tells Baxter (Tony Goldwyn)—the shooting happened in front of him and his family—that he was the intended victim. “We had a trajectory analyst review the video of the shooting, and it’s clear he was aiming for you. If you hadn’t moved when you did, that bullet would’ve struck you squarely in the back of the head,” Dixon explains. There’s a citywide manhunt to track the shooter down. Baxter’s wife (Tara Westwood) thinks that Baxter should suspend his campaign for District Attorney.
